Whatever you do, don’t think about what Father’s Day would have been like for Hal if Geoff Johns hadn’t retconned Helen out of existence.

There’s a type of Hal Jordan fan that doesn’t seem to actually like him, they like this fanon version of him that has significantly less intelligence and that is way more vulnerable and woobified, to support their slash ships where they like the other (white except when they’re pink) guy to be taking care of Hal. And it’s kinda gross how prevalent it is, because it’s ignoring a lot of integral parts of Hal’s character (like the fact he was a freaking fighter pilot). And I’m afraid it’s only going to get worse because H*mphries takes relatively mature, intelligent characters and makes them act like 13 year olds :-/

Okay, wait, you forgot the part where Bruce wraps his arms around him and holds him close.

That’s because that’s not a drabble, that is an RP starter. That’s why the only thing it’s tagged with is the url of the person it’s directed to. It’s not meant for mass consumption it’s meant to be used between me and that specific person if we choose to use it.

Ugh, people just like their fantasy stupid, inconsiderate Hal, don’t they? They just like their weird hurt/comfort BS fics where Hal needs someone else to save him because he is incapable of doing anything for himself and his tiny widdle brain can’t see that he could be hurting other people. It’s like they watched Justice League: War and didn’t allow any other characterization of Hal to ever enter their minds ever again. 

The mere idea that he could actually learn from his own mistakes and would apply that to not actively hurting those under his authority just baffles them. That in the last few years of comics Hal, from leading the Corps and being on the run, could have possibly learned any lessons just seems impossible. What, Hal? Learn? Clearly he’s just the stupidest guy ever, right? He could never learn. The foresight of a small child is beyond him! Why, it’s surprising he’s even capable of object permanence! And certainly if he did learn, he wouldn’t apply that to protecting others! That’s just not Hal at all!

Green Lanterns is as bad as I feared. Both Jessica and Simon are acting like jealous children and Hal does something that any idiot would know was going to put them at increased risk in the near future. I wish at least one of the three was putting thought into their actions:-/
