And the birthday candles he never got to blow out. ***** Before he was born, I went to a Children’s Entrepreneur Expo, and to show my support, I bought the only thing that seemed useful at the time… A red, patriotic toddler shirt for Trevor. (His due date was in July). If he were here today – it might have fit him by now. Yesterday, I went through all his clothes, photos, and videos and thought of his red shirt, never to be worn, yet still too precious to give away. Maybe I’ll let his future siblings wear it… maybe I won’t. All I know is between the shock of his early birth and terminal diagnosis – and his all too early death, he was very special. ***** We had 112 days with our tiny baby and his big heart. He loved his daddy - and I could never tell if Cory was holding him, or if he was holding Cory… His eyes often seemed filled with a loving and knowing wisdom… I’ll never forget the day before he passed… Cory held him almost all day, and when I came in to check on him - Trevor’s little 3-month hand was gently stroking Cory’s arm. As if he knew he’d be gone the very next day and had to comfort his daddy. I left the room in awe… (because I’ve never seen a baby do this before, and don’t expect to again).
