I wrote this for a few reasons.
I'm sick and tired of some Edelgard fans thinking women and LGBTQ+ are some sort of hivemind and saying shit like you're a misogynist if you like another lord better.
This sort of nonsense is also often used to dominate fandom spaces and shut down any dissenting opinions. Basically they act like a bunch of bullies. Someone in my comments put it perfectly "using queer people and women as a shield so he can continue to act like a self-righteous jerk and control spaces all while getting away with harassment." Though, I personally don't care what the gender and sexuality is, bullying is bullying and that's an equal opportunity trait.
It also turns fandom into a "holier than thou" competition. Instead of just arguing over fictional favs, everyone gets into a competition over who's the most progressive when all they really actually care about, at that moment at least, is just "my ship/character is better than yours!" rather than really giving a shit. Which then leads to some really toxic nonsense where then you must only like unproblematic favs or people accuse you of approving everything your fav does and is adjacent to the same arguments as "video games cause violence" and pearl clutching over Sarah J Mass books and book banning in general.
A brilliant example is Edelgard fans who argue they're more feminist for liking her and then turn around and bully actual, real women simply because they like Dimitri better. Those people are not feminist, they're just bullies who fake being feminist to win internet arguments over pointless stuff like favs in a JRPG video game. Supporting real women, not fictional ones, makes you a feminist.
It also puts women and LGBTQ+ people on this weird pedestal, like our taste is superior or we're better judges of character or something. I thought we left that form of benevolent sexism in the Arthurian past, but I guess not.
You know what's funny?
Despite claims that Edelgard is totally not sold to straight men as a waifu, she's at her most popular in fandom spaces dominated by straight men like Reddit and FEH.
Meanwhile, Dimitri is most popular in fandom places dominated by women and people who identify as LGBTQ+ like Tumblr and A03.
Just . . . putting that out there. For #reasons.

I'm sure you're getting many asks in response to the other anons J&C bc/fertility ask so, sorry to add another one to it, but I just loved the "they've been trying for over a year" statement. Like, how do we know that for sure? Unless they said it and I missed it somehow, it's wild to assume theyve "been trying". Having sex? Absolutely. Trying for a baby? Probably not.
side note: My bf and I have been having unprotected sex for 6 years (pulling out) & I've never gotten pregnant, nor are we trying to get pregnant. But I'd love for anon to come tell me about my fertility issues I must be having 🥴😂
(not that I'd recommend the pull out method if you don't want a child, I'm sure part of it's luck on our part, but I tried bc and just kept bleeding for over 2 weeks (sorry if that's TMI), so also if theres anyone that would like to reply and chime in if they've experienced that too, or found a bc that worked for them please share 🥺😬 I stalk spurgie cousin regularly and read all the replies so I will see them lol 🤣)
Also, thanks spurgie if you post this! It's longer than I intended, but also just wanna say you're one of my fav accts on here!! 😁❤️
Answering this one for BC recommendations for anon (and because they gave me a lovely compliment lol I'm bought cheap 🙃).
Anon I wish I could weigh in but I also respond horribly to hormonal bc. Have you looked into the shot or IUDs?
Also I'm glad we all agree that speculating about fertility in this instance is very gross. For me I just think there are so many more probable reasons they haven't gotten pregnant yet, I'm wondering if the original anon was just bored and wanted to stir up some drama lol. They're young (Justin's still 19), they still are BRAND newlyweds, and also not everyone gets pregnant immediately. Some people don't have fertility issues and just need more time to get pregnant.
Either way I think discussing fertility like that doesn't make us any better than fundies. "She's 21, been married a year, and DOESN'T have a baby??? Something must be wrong with her" is a pretty misogynistic take.
