top 5 favorite fictional locations

alushinyrra - pathfinder. act iv of wrath was my favourite of all the acts for a lot of reasons, but the location was at the top. the environment, the vibes, the colour palette? exquisite. i didn't necessarily mind the camera gimmick too much once i knew where everything was.

ravenloft - dungeons & dragons. trying to pick a favourite domain would be like picking a favourite child, but ravenloft is what got me into tabletop gaming (thanks curse of strahd) and subsequently was a gateway drug to a lot of the things i enjoy now. it's the gothic horror for me (if i had to pick some domains though i would probably say lamordia, dementlieu, falkovnia and barovia)

the dead trenches - da: origins. yes i believe in deep roads supremacy. yes we exist. the dead trenches never fails to make me feel dread in the pit of my stomach. they just nailed the atmosphere, the claustrophobia, the horror of it all so, so well.

alfheim - god of war 2018; i absolutely hated alfheim the first time i played the game. it was where the game started both making sense from a combat perspective for me, but the puzzles drove me insane. now i look at alfheim and go ooooh pretty. it's gorgeous. the sky especially! and the designs of the elves in gow 2018 really add to it. it truly feels otherworldly.

the carja sundom - horizon zero dawn; i actually got back into the carja sundom in hzd today and god i forgot how much i loved exploring it back when i first played the game, particularly meridian and the jungles in the southern part of the map.

i’m fake because i only read the first book (i own the 2nd... maybe that should go on my tbr for 2022) but yes i do 😳 she’s pretty well-developed as a character but her arc is nonexistent since i never read to have something to work with auhgfuhg

her name’s faerrah and she’s joffrey, myrcella, and tommen’s oldest sister 😔✊ 13 at the start of the series (turns 14 relatively soon i believe if i’m remembering the timeline correctly) and she does not deserve all that :/ slightly resented by robert for being a first-born daughter but not as resented as joffrey who robert thinks is a freak of nature <3

cersei wants her to be a mini-me basically but honestly fae doesn’t have an ambitious bone in her body (which will disappoint mom in the future ♥) and can’t stand the politics and scheming and nightmare of the city so. not gonna happen. she’s a big fan of gardens and reading folktales by the waterside and also of her “uncle” jaime because of how cool she thinks he is LOL obviously her opinion changes over time but well! it basically flips over time where she didn’t like tyrion as a kid but then she realizes he’s the realest bitch there (also he’s one of my favorite characters so i’m biased)

i also ship her with sansa but that’s a later-later thing that isn’t as developed (beyond vibes. as you can see in the tag) since they’re 13 and 11 at the start ahdfhgfhg. sansa doesn’t trust her very much at king’s landing at first (especially once. everything is happening :/) but they quickly become very good friends and faerrah is basically the only comfort she has there. ESPECIALLY under cersei... since cersei keeps manipulating sansa and making her feel horrific and faerrah knows exactly how that feels -_- at night before things are too evil they can hang out and tell each other old chivalrous stories because obviously they both want a cool knight man to save them <3

i also had a concept for a lost targaryen whatever who became a pirate but that would be a later-series thing so it’s just a general concept until i get back into the books tbh

she was born right around the time the garlean empire seized doma, so she really only remembers vague bits of not being able to do much of anything. after her dad stayed behind to give her mom and althelia a chance to escape, her mom became super protective of her. even when they stayed at the azim steppe, her mom didn't let her out of her sight. it was to the point that her mom got sick, which left her so weak that she wasn't able to look after her then passed shortly afterwards. she was taken in by another clan and led a quiet life until she was old enough to fight and trained on her own every night. though she was all alone, she was still kind and friendly to anyone she met. she'd help out with little tasks here and there while she was living at the steppe.

as for her relationship with zenos... it's very complicated 😔 he's the only person in the world who truly understands her, the thrill of the hunt, always looking for the next challenge. but obviously with him committing horrendous war crimes... she knows she has to put an end to him, which she doesn't want to do. she's the only person who's shown him kindness (perhaps love 😌) and he doesn't know how to act lmao he's so obsessed with fighting her. she fears that he's so far gone from salvation but she wants to save him 😔 they have a enemies to lovers thing going on... it's a secret

3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?

She had a great childhood! Nothing remarkable, it was pretty normal and boring sometimes... not much to see or do in the middle of nowhere, but she had a great relationship with her parents and her stepbrother. Her fondest memory is when she and her brother first saw a gecko nest 🤠 their fathers let them hang around the little ones and feed them. A bad memory she has is when their caravan was raided... nothing tragic happened and they all got out unscathed but they lost a lot of merchandise and the following months were a bit rough for them.

12. What is their favourite food?

She's a meat gal! 🤠 Likes the classic brahmin steak if she can get her hands on one, especially if she can also have a side of jalapeños or maize! She can just about eat anything but don't make her eat pre-war food, that's disgusting.

16. Do they collect anything? What do they do with it? Where do they keep it?

She took to collecting sarsaparilla star bottle caps when she was in the Mojave! Thinks they bring her good luck and are just special and unique so she keeps them in one of her backpack pockets!

Other than that, she collects oddly shaped rocks and keeps them lined up in a shelf in her room at the Lucky 38.

28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?

After being shot in the head and buried while she was still alive I don't think there's much more left that scares her RIP. If anything I guess it'd be losing control of herself, becoming a pawn to others' plans and games and having to give up her freedom, which is why she decided to go for an independent New Vegas in the end.

32. What do they dress like? What sorta shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashion that they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s their hair like?

When she's on the road she's all in for comfy clothes 🤠 a plain white tanktop and cargo pants with enough pockets to store food, extra ammo, stimpaks or chems, tough boots for long treks and a sturdy backpack to carry everything else!

If she's lounging she dresses more nicely! Loose open shirts and old repurposed skirts or shorts, heeled boots and maybe some accessories!

The cowboy hat ALWAYS stays on!

ok when you first sent this i got SO excited and then i forgot to reply because what's a memory BUT!!! your MIND, yeah i think that makes perfect sense imo!!

i get what you mean about it feeling like a reach but i feel like that's bc he's just so detached from everything that something So universal to ~the human experience~, i.e. internalizing trauma and trying to more or less retroactively fix it (for lack of a better word), feels kinda strange, but i think the underlying frustration of it being a freak accident and not having a Clear solution to make sure that it would never happen again could totally cause that.

it's an extreme reaction sure, but that tends to happen when you suck at emotions and repression is your go-to way of "dealing" with things LOL

so i don't actually have a whole lot of oc playlists at the moment but i do have [checks spotify] three playlists exclusively dedicated to valerius, camellia and their relationship so i'm choosing from those. 2 from his, 2 from the ship one, 1 from hers.

mythic power by mikhail kotov from wrath of the righteous; for valerius' playlist. it's the boss theme, the way it fits perfectly even after he's rejected his mythic power for mortality. it never fails to get me hyped.

the phantom of the opera overture by the prague cello quartet; this is honestly a main vibe for him. for valerius, a ballroom or a theatre is just as much of a hunting ground as anywhere else, and i was hardly going to resist adding such a gothic classic into his playlist.
