36 and 38 for the OTP asks (Jed and Abbey)
36. Who is more protective? I think one of their defining features is that they're both fiercely protective of each other and their family (the girls, the grandkids and a bunch of 30-something-year-olds they kind of adopted during the first campaign). When they were younger, Jed was the more protective one; for the first few years of their relationship, even after they got married, he was still in a state of shock that someone like Abbey would choose him (poor baby Jethro, with a whole bunch of insecurities and childhood traumas), so he had his weirdly overprotective and jealous moments that Abbey found adorable if slightly annoying. As they grew older and Jed's MS progressed, Abbey became the overprotective one, which annoyed Jed to no end and we have season 6 to prove it.
38. If/when they have kids, what is their parenting style (or pets-who does what)? The Bartlets were great parents, despite their demanding careers. Perhaps they weren't around all the time, but they tried. Abbey was the strict one, especially when she was alone with the girls while Jed was a congressman, so she made the girls eat healthy food, helped them with science projects and urged them to do their homework and chores, while Jed was the silly, nerdy parent who secretly brought them candy, but he also helped the girls with their homework and dragged the whole family to national parks. Their house was always filled with books, and they both encouraged the girls to read, read and read. Since both Jed and Abbey come from money, with their demanding careers (med school, residency and insane working hours for Abbey and Jed's PhD in London, and later political career), when the girls were younger, they had nannies and a housekeeper and both grandmas often came for a visit to take care of the girls. Things are a bit different with the grandkids, both Bartlets are on a mission to spoil those kids rotten, but they also help them with school projects, read them to sleep and of course, drag them to national parks.
Thanks for the ask, friend! 💜💜

💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
🎬 If a movie or show were based on your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast?
🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?
💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written? It's hard to decide, but I have to go with Breathe. It's a post-ep for Dead Irish Writers, where I tried to imagine what Abbey Bartlet was thinking right before her hearing before the New Hampshire Medical Board when she agreed to forfeit her medical license. DIW is my favorite episode and it's also the last episode of S3 where we see Abbey, so sadly, we don't see the immediate consequences of her decision in the show. And the sexism! The show does a great job portraying the casual sexism which is still very present in the way the first ladies are treated, compared to the presidents (whether it's intentional or not is another discussion entirely) so I had to write something about Abbey dealing with the pressure and sexism, professionally and privately.
🎬 If a movie or show were based on your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast? Oh this is a difficult one... probably White Christmas, my only fic (to date) where all main characters appear. I wouldn't accept anyone other than the original cast playing the characters, I'd love to see Brad Whitford slipping on the stairs and Stockard Channing and Martin Sheen quoting Robert Frost at each other. There's another fic I'm working on, which is almost finished, Anything Else I Need to Know (I hope I'll post it in the next couple of days) and now I can't stop laughing imagining two amazing octogenarians, Martin and Stockard, being horny for each other and the middle-aged staffers being traumatized after seeing something they shouldn't have 😂😅 what an idea for the reunion! 😂😂😂😂
🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see? Oh, wow! Don't think that's very likely to happen lol but I'd like to see fanart of the ending of And Something for Us to Remember too, with the sunset and the vineyard... there's also a scene from another one of my WIPs with young Jed and Abbey stuck on a Ferris wheel...
Thank you, friend! 💜💜
