Love me Tender — a Rebelcaptain drabble

A/N: I’ve been consumed with soft fluffy thoughts of these two. I got inspired by a post about your otp cooking together and this happened.

Steam ballooned out like a mushroom cloud when Cassian pulled back the pot lid, the liquid inside now at a rolling boil. The brown paper wrapped tightly around the pasta with a piece of twine crinkled as he peeled it back to dump the pieces into the pot. He picked up the cutting board and scraped the pile of meticulously diced vegetables into the adjacent pan of hot oil. They sizzled and popped, adding another layer of sound to the movement he was composing, Jyn’s voice ringing above it all, light and melodious.

She was seated on the counter chatting away about her reconnaissance earlier, if you could even call it that. They had been stationed in a small planet in the Jalor system. Their cover was that they were a newlywed couple who had moved there for work. The native people were lovely. The village they had moved into was full of older couples who willingly told Jyn all the local gossip when she had been making her rounds to introduce herself earlier.

Jyn ducked wordlessly out of the way as Cassian reached beyond her and into the spice cabinet to pull out a jar of something red and fragrant. With a gentle motion, he sprinkled some on the sautéing vegetables and stirred them around. A small towel draped over his shoulder and a look of concentration showing itself in the age lines on his forehead, and Jyn couldn’t help but admire him for a second, indulge in the fantasy that they really were new here in this quiet town. She reached out a callused palm and cradled the edge of his jaw for a second before brushing his hair out of his eyes. He flashed a look at her, a hint of a smile curling under his grown out facial hair.

“What are you thinking about?” he queried.

Jyn breathed out a deep sigh through her lips and tapped her fingers where they curled under the edge of the counter, hesitating a beat before responding, “What if this was real?”

Cassian drew his eyebrows inward, a bemused smile on his lips.

“You know, this. Us,” she almost laughed, gesturing weakly at the scene around them. “Being newlyweds, running away somewhere no one knows us at all,” she trailed off, her eyes settling on a crack in the tiled floor, suddenly unsure if that was something he would ever want.

In her mind’s eye, the crack started growing until it split the house completely in two, a chasm of longing separating them, loneliness creeping its tendrils around her throat. Though she had spent years at his side, a lifetime of abandonment and running allowed those thoughts to creep in from time to time.

His hand on her shoulder calmed her in an instant.

“In another world, we’re sneaking off after our vows to make love before the ceremony,” he whispered against her jaw and pressed a kiss there, drawing a small laugh from the pit of her belly. His hands rubbed over the smooth fabric of her thighs and settled at her hips.

“In another world,” the smooth cadence of his voice hummed thoughtfully, “We’re getting ready for our first dance.”

He scooted her off the counter and pulled her into a sway, her clumsy movements trying to match his fluid ones. Jyn buried her face in the crook of his neck and pinched her eyes closed, trying to imagine a room full of their favorite faces, people they had lost along the way.

Strong arms and shoulders took the lead, snd she quickly became his mirror. Her softness against him always felt too good to be true. She smoothed his war hardened edges like steel against stone. Cassian would be lying if he said he hadn’t been thinking the same things as Jyn, too hesitant to wish that, maybe one day, this would be their reality, that they would both make it out alive.

But for now, they had each other. They were safe, tucked lightyears away from the heart of the battle. Maybe they would both be brave enough to ask the other to run and never look back.

The sound of hissing pulled Cassian from his thoughts as some of the foamy water from the pasta had crept over the edge of the pot, sizzling against the element of the stove.

“Shoot,” he pulled himself away from her and quickly lifted the pot. Jyn plucked the towel from his shoulder and patted dry the remaining water. Always two halves of a whole, always in sync, in this lifetime and the next.

Sexuality Headcanon- Cis, aro and ace. Although I don't think he knows that. He just thought he would never want to settle down with anyone and raise a family. (He said, while raising Bruce because Thomas and Martha Wayne loved him so much that he was considered next of kin)

OTP- Platonically, Martha and Thomas Wayne.

BROTP- I think that Thomas specifically thought of him a brother.

NOTP- Bruce

First Headcanon that pops into my head- Idk if this is stated in canon at all, but he genuinely thinks of Bruce as a son. Never in a million years would he try and replace Thomas, he only really realized it when Bruce brought home Dick and thought. "Oh, a grandchild!"

Favourite line from this character- "Perhaps you relied on my master's vow against using lethal force. Let me assure you that I subscribe to no such niceties." he says, as he loads a shot gun

One way in which I relate to the character- I can relate to his protectiveness and lowkey judgement of Bruce lol

The thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character- I don't like it when he's too passive when Bruce is being an asshole and he's just judging him. You know if he saw Bruce hit one of his kids, he's getting a full lecture and writing out an apology letter.

It's that special time once again, to show your heart and spread the love to all you care for~💕💝💕🤗And this year, I would like to take opportunity to dedicate my annual Valentine to my newest OTP, Smiling Critter DogDay x my OC, DeerDelight~🐶☀️💘🦋🦌 I was thinking what songs would fit their ship, and one that stood out to me the most, was one I've listened to ever since I finished college, back in 2008 - 'Hikaru Michi' a.k.a 'The Shining Road', which is the second closing theme to the well-known anime, Sonic X~🎶I remember seeing a music video years ago with tender moments between Sonic and Amy Rose from the show, and that was when inspiration struck~💡💗✍️ I decided to draw DogDay and DeerDelight in the same emotional reunion with Sonic and Amy, where he promised he would never leave her ;w; But instead of a rose, I chose forget-me-nots for DogDay to give to DeerDelight. The reason, is the meaning behind them - a symbol of true love and devotion, declaring love to another and representing a promise that you will always remember them~💝 Forget-me-nots are also considered a symbol of fidelity (loyalty) and faithfulness~🫶🏻 And this is what is happening between the two adorable critters right now. With DogDay declaring his love to DeerDelight (something she had always secretly hoped and wished for~🌟🙏🏻) and vowing that he will never ever forget her, and will always be with her by her side, no matter what...~🥹To which DeerDelight emotionally yet happily accepts, as they seal their love with a tender kiss and embrace~🐶☀️💕🦋🦌

To give the wholesome moment between DogDay and DeerDelight more feeling, I decided to add the last three sentences of the last verse of the song, both in Japanese and English, along with adding details of the shadowing and falling tears, which I have to say I'm really proud of~👍🏻😊✨ ‘Sigh...~’💕😌I am ever so pleased of how this precious piece turned out, just the way I imagined it to be and I really enjoyed working on it too~💓🥰 And a very💗💘💝~Happy Valentine’s Day 2024~💝💘💗to you too, my lovelies~! =^o^=🫂Hope you all like as well, have a lovely day and spread the love~!💞🫶🏻💕😍💕🫶🏻💞xoxo.

Good night tumblr. I can't type up all the My Stand-In thoughts I still have banging around my head but I will go to sleep thinking about Mike and his new fandom bestie, Tong's loan shark, having internet battles defending their OTP against Mike & Ming's spiritual master.

...look I just find it hysterically funny that THREE characters who really, really shouldn't care that much have such strong opinions about this relationship.

Mike is honor-bound to keep his vow if this is really Joe, that Joe, Ming's Joe; that damn promise he made at the height of his little-brother's-romance rubbernecking, aw shucks. Once Mike commits to a ship, neither the law nor his own father can make him turn back! Loan Shark couldn't just take the offer for so very much more money and run with it before Ming's mom called the cops, he HAD to know WHY this man was so special to the inaccessible rich kid Tong had been dangling in front of him for months. And in that moment, when Ming spoke his truth, Loan Shark respected him as he respected few men on this earth, because Ming convinced him: Love Is Real.

And then over on the opposite side we have spiritual master like Joe, I know I'm supposed to be a neutral presence here guiding you along whatever path you choose, but are you sure you want to go back to this guy? Like are you SURE sure? Idk as someone who has been all up in your business for three years I can't just let you pass on without saying something. Do what you want, absolutely, but like... are you suuuuuuuuuure? Remember when he cuffed you to a couch? Remember when he called you a dog? Anyway welcome to my healthy and peaceful mind. I am unbiased and impartial. Make your choice. But. Are you sure.

Do you feel that the weird IR filler/IH erasure especially in the canon storyline of the anime was less of a problem after the Soul Society arc? I might be remembering wrong but I think it got better once Kubo started supervising the script, I don't know if IR was pushed after that? All I can come up with is that one ice skating scene and personally I don't view that as some kind of 'agenda' rather a tame interaction between two friends.

Yeah, I think things got better after the SS arc. I think once the arrancar arc started with all the Orihime/IH-centric scenes, the animators just couldn't ignore it anymore. It was becoming too obvious for anyone who didn't already have a strong IR bias that IH was where the romance was (the vow to protect followed by a love confession, etc). If you watch the AotS and SS arcs, it feels like the animators were intentionally cutting Orihime out and downplaying her importance, taking moments where she talks about Ichigo and having her talk about food instead, etc. while super embellishing canon IR scenes by adding in a bunch of flowery backgrounds and soaring music, on top of all the IR filler they added in (like the random filler shinigami guy who asks if Rukia and Ichigo are dating, and Rukia's just like "that's none of your concern" pffft.) I think the animators thought that Bleach was going to be a typical boy meets girl, main male/female duo that fall in love and that Orihime was just some bimbo who would never become important to Ichigo or the story as a whole (and interestingly, a lot of anime-only fans seemed to walk away with that impression as well). Things got better over time (albeit it still wasn't great), but I feel like the damage from the first two arcs was already done. People had already declared IR as their OTP in chapter one and were reluctant to jump ship (especially when it meant jumping to a ship they had already spent years hating on).

"That Really Happened?!" DC Comics Tournament Entry #26

My Favorite Same-Sex Couple in DC Comics is Technically Bestiality and Metaphorically Incest

What Happened?

The Doom Patrol - "The World's Strangest Heroes" - has their fair share of strange adversaries. From the Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man to the Painting that Ate Paris, they've seen a lot of villains. Leading the list of Doom Patrol archenemies are my DC OTP - the Brain and Monsieur Mallah. One is a disembodied (human) brain in a cylindrical canister and the other is a gorilla that has was granted a genius level IQ and raised by...the scientist who would one day become the Brain.

After leading the Brotherhood of Evil (not to be confused with Marvel Comic's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants), the Brain and Mallah continued to plague the Doom Patrol and the Teen Titans. In Grant Morrison's 90s Vertigo Doom Patrol series, they break into the hero's base in order to steal a new advanced body built for Robotman. Unfortunately, the new Robotman body has already achieved sentience and has vowed to activate its self-destruct if it is ever forced to house another human brain. When the Brain is in the new body, he and Mallah confess their love for each other and kiss as the self-destruct activates, leaving behind nothing but Mallah's beret. Reactions to this development were mixed at the time, with letters pointing out that Morrison canonized a couple that were: 1. evil, 2. gay, 3. interspecies, and 4. metaphorically incest due to the Brain raising Mallah.

Mallah and the Brain would later resurface years later alive (unexplained) in what would (and already had) become a reoccurring pattern. They show up, they die, they come back. They originally died at the end of the original 60s Doom Patrol run. Gorilla Grodd beats Mallah to death with Brain's canister in a coded gay-bashing incident during Salvation Run. In a move so poorly considered it made me, a massive Doom Patrol fan, drop the title from my pull-list, the (AFAIK straight) writers of the most recent series, Unstoppable Doom Patrol, decided to have Mallah kill the Brain in the first issue.

While some writers are onboard with them as a couple, it is obvious that others find the pair problematic, with many adaptations removing the romantic element (Teen Titans), removing the romantic element while also having them betray each other (Doom Patrol), or making them not villains (My Adventures with Superman).

As for me, I love the uncomfortable space that they occupy. Their relationship, which is between two adults who are fully sentient and able to provide consent, doesn't care about your feelings or values. They're queer villains and DC needs to stop defanging or watering down what is weird and wonderful about them.

Never been one for “Happily ever after - The End.”

Always been one for hard work and a continuation.

But getting both together really doesn’t hurt because while it still might be a happy ending, it’s not the end. There’s more to come for them. More to happen. More challenges, more conflicts, more rocky road, more compromises and likely more sacrifices. Hard work.

Love is always hard work so I always go for the ships that represent hard work. Enduring through the drama and chaos together and coming out stronger because of it. It’s a constant retesting of their love. There is no such thing as “happily ever after”. It’s a fantasy. And even in a supernatural/fantasy storytelling, I still much prefer ships that represent the hard work. That walk through a storm and come out the other side dishevelled and stained but standing - and hand in hand. That’s far more romantic to me than any “happily ever after” ever will be because what it shows me is that their love is based on a constant devotion towards each other and not on any kind of reward that can be had in being with each other. That even if no happiness was possible for them, these two people will still stick by each other. That’s what love is. To still be around for them - totally devoted to them - even when there’s no happy end because if the happy end is all you’re there for, you’re not actually in love with them. You’re in love with an ideal of them. An ideal life with them. But that ideal life may never come to fruition. Yet, they’re still there by your side regardless.

Waverly and Nicole really go through a storm together and all the while they’re clinging to each other tightly shielding each other from the oncoming debree. They get to see the sun eventually and that’s great. But they know that that’s not what love’s all about at all. They know love is hard work and that it will always be. That’s what I’m here to watch. Not happily ever after because that’s not a real thing and I’m glad that it’s not because it’s not interesting. It doesn’t say anything about love other than that it’s an ideal to fantasize and obsess over. But the person you picture yourself in this ideal life with is right there with you now and you’ve got to decide what matters more.

That’s what WayHaught represents as a WLW ship.

Hard work with how their love keeps building and evolving through everything that they go through together - be it negative or positive - because what they’re devoted to is each other. Their love is not based on an ideal of what they could be or can get to. It’s there regardless whether they happily end or not. And all ships that represent this are worth shipping.

I mean just look at all my other OTPs. None of them represent idealism. All of them represent hard work. And none of them got a happy ending like WayHaught did. None of them end up happily married in the end. But then again - what WayHaught’s tying of the knot represents is not a representation of happily ever after. It’s a statement of commitment and compromise and equality. It’s a way of expressing and attesting to one another that the love they have for and devotion they have to each other will not make them ignore their responsibilities and obligations as Guardians to Purgatory and the Ghost River Triangle. As Waverly told Jolene. She can be a wife AND a hero and she will be and Nicole has to allow her the agency of being both. Likewise, Waverly has to allow Nicole the agency to take on the supernatural alone as the Angel’s Shield. They both have to put aside their worries and anxieties and fears of losing one another to allow this. And their vows to each other are a promising of that which is why I find their endgame so damn powerful. Because it represents trust and faith and respect and support and all the things a marital partnership should do but rarely ever is in TV art/entertainment sadly.

I cannot wait for ‘Vengeance’ to see for myself where the narratives for these 2 incredible individual female main characters leads from where they were left off because there is so much we do not know about them. What I would really want to see is how much they’re upholding their vows in their next adventure together. How much they’ve truly allowed each other all the agency of being both domestic AND heroic partners. ‘Cause vows are just words. I want to see the actions. I want to see the proof that they are truly as equals now and neither of them are being overbearing worrywarts because they truly know what each other are capable of and understand that their individual strength and power is necessary to fighting for the greater good.

That’s all I really want to see in this next adventure. The evidence that they’re truly equal forces in love and life and they don’t try step on each other’s toes because there’s nothing more unromantic to me than lovers that don’t let each other be all that they can be out of some nonsensical excuse of “protecting” them. And what you’re really doing when you subject someone to a “love story” of “Happily ever after - The End.” is you’re making them feel incapable and therefore, unworthy, of achieving an ideal of true love when an ideal of true love is not, never has been and never will be true love because hard work is the truth.

You know, I got into WayHaught long after everyone else did. After the hype of watching and shipping them died down. And I don’t regret that fact because I feel like I would have looked at them with negative preconceived notions if I was introduced to them at the same time as everyone else was. If I was watching them at the time they were a pop culture topic, I would have had my “they’re just a trend and nothing more” glasses on when watching their scenes together. So I’m quite happy that I discovered them when I did. At a time when virtually no one else was talking about them because everyone had moved on.

But now with the news of the return of them through the ‘Vengeance’ Tubi movie - I can join in the hype of shipping them and I will feel really authentic in doing so because I know that I do sincerely view them as a significant ship that teaches a real meaning of LOVE and it’s not just some pop culture fad everyone is obsessed with because it’s cool to obsess over them. There’s depth there. There’s substance. There’s truth. Because it always make me feel really odd when everyone seems to get it but I don’t and vice versa. But as I said - if you look at every single one of my OTPs or favourite ships - all of them are the same as far as what they represent as a ship. It’s hard work and constant devotion to each other because of hardship. It’s not any kind of idealistic version of what “love” is. It’s not happily ever after. It’s not whirlwind romances. It’s not even “true love” as a concept like in all those favoured childhood fairytale stories. It’s hard work. That’s what I choose to watch and ship and it’s what I always will if I even care about any TV love story at all.

Sentimental Hour

I took this screenshot of a gifset almost exactly three years ago. It’s the first thing of WinTeam I ever saw, and it’s the first image of them in my phone’s photo gallery.

I’ve been thinking about them and writing about them ever since I first watched UWMA, and part of me was a little afraid that when Between Us ended, I’d be content with what we got to the point where I wouldn’t want to write about them anymore.

That can happen when your ship is both canon and has their own series! Especially if they aren’t characters in a high-stakes situation or part of a secondary world.

WinTeam are just two university club athletes who hooked up one night and fell in love over the course of months while they helped each other sort through their respective traumatic backgrounds.

But they’re the most compelling pairing I’ve ever loved, and I still can’t fully put into words why. Look at them, though. :’(

Some pairings I love are superheroes, figure skaters, pilots of space lions, ancient warriors, a firefighter and a dude hosting a benevolent alien that gives him neon fire powers—

And yet, for some reason, I don’t even write fic for most of those pairings. I love reading fic about them, but I’ll usually just write one or two and then move on.

WinTeam, though. That’s a Forever OTP for me.

Some of it is BounPrem’s chemistry. Even when they’d just been cast, back when they didn’t know each other and barely liked each other, that chemistry was there. Even in photos, you can feel that they have a rare spark.

And it only got stronger the longer they worked together.

But it’s not just the actors, otherwise the series would have been enough for me. It’s the characters. The way they’re written in Hemp Rope and Between Us, the gentleness they show each other when no one’s around, the way they want to trust each other but they’re so afraid to, the way they reach for each other even though they don’t have a name for what they are.

I love so much about them.

I love that their deepest fears and flaws connect them. At the start of the story, Team has kept so much guilt and pain to himself for so long, he’s just adapted to struggle through it. Meanwhile Win is alone and convinced he always will be.

It may always kick me in the heart that Team’s confession builds up to a vow to take the first steps because he can see that Win is too afraid. And he can do it because Win spent months giving Team every imaginable route to comfort and security, even when it cost him sleep or time or energy that he didn’t have to spare. The beautiful thing is that because of Win’s kindness, Team is strong enough to take the lead from Win, who’s been trying so hard to steer when he’s abjectly terrified of making any mistake with Team.

They’re so balanced. In such an ordinary, quiet way. They’ll never leave each other to falter alone because they both understand how that feels. There’s no question that Team will go to the hospital with his new boyfriend to visit his boyfriend’s brother, just like there’s no question that Win will admit to Team how lost he feels.

I think I just wanted to write this all down because I’m relieved that I found them, and even more relieved that even though the series is over, they’re always going to be part of my heart.

And they’ve raised my standard for love stories forever.

3. What fandoms do you write for? Currently? Ever? Currently, it's SuperCat and, more recently, Guiding Light/Otalia. Stupid unfinished WIP that has haunted me for 15 years...

4. What are your top five fics by kudos? These are all SuperCat, btw. One Bridge at a Time, At the Pleasure of the Hotel de la Paix, Uncharted (part 11), At Sea, and (the shocker) Steel Blue.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, as many as I can. I've been known to respond to some years after they were written. Comments are the lifeblood of my writing. One comment at the right time can inspire so much. Sometimes, even the completion of a lingering unfinished story...

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Easily, my tears ricochet (Mirandy). My wife (Lisof9) and I took a vow decades ago (pre-dating, even) that we would always write happy, hopeful endings where the couple is together.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Everything else? See above. That doesn't mean there isn't angst. My wife taught me everything I know about chasing characters up burning trees and then lobbing grenades and feral raccoons at them. She also taught me about cliffhangers.

8. Do you get hate on fic? Once. A long time ago on an ER fic, of all things. I didn't write a word for two years after that.

9. Do you write smut? Yes. I'm kinda known for that. It is sometimes even requested, meaning the prompt is given to me because it requires smut.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Hmm... Not really? Let me explain. One of my SuperCat stories mentions Emily Carlton from The Devil Wears Prada, and one of my Guiding Light stories has a brief cameo from a character on Saving Grace. 13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Oh, absolutely! My wife should be considered my co-writer in everything because I have been known to pick her brain when I'm stuck. I've also co-written in the Guiding Light/Otalia fandom and in the L&O: SVU Casey/Olivia fandom.

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship? Oh, lord love a duck. SuperCat is certainly my once-and-future obsession. I've been writing them for over seven years at this point and, at last count, have 10 WIPs in the works for them.

My OTP Prime, though, is B'Elanna/Seven from Star Trek: Voyager because that's how I met my wife.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t? Hide Beside Me (Guiding Light/Otalia) has haunted me for 15 years, but remember when I said comments were the lifeblood of writing? Someone commented on it last week which revived my interest in finishing the story. I have a draft for chapter 32 in my WIPs folder right now because of that. I hope I finally get to check that one off my to-do list.

16. What are your writing strengths? Research, capturing character personalities, dialogue, and romance.

Queen of Hearts, (ST:Voy, B/7), because it was a love letter to the woman who is now my amazing wife.

One Bridge at a Time, (Supergirl, SuperCat). I'm proudest of this one because it took me seven years to write, came in at 310+k words, and I finished it. I never gave up on it. It was always in my mind. And now I'm working on a sequel to it. :)

Non-romantic OTP: Nischa and HEAR ME OUT!!! PUT DOWN YOUR PITCHFORKS FOR TWO SECONDS AND LISTEN!!! I do not HATE the Nischa ship! I completely understand why people ship them together and I can still get behind them being shipped/a couple, even though i don't ship it myself. There's some adorable fan content with them and it's impossible not to find it charming! The only thing is that I just can't see them together. Mischa sings an entire song about how much he misses and loves Talia, it's even a common interpretation that his opening monologue was his wedding vows! He truly admired her and i just can't see him leaving Talia behind for Noel. I get why people can see their interactions as romantic (and I can totally get behind the ship as I said!!!), I just don't see it myself. They're more like brothers to me.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don't think I have any! (other than the Nischa thing)

Was it Riza, who seems to have first loved the idealistic dream of a naive young man to the point that she also recognised it as her own? Hello! :) Thank you very much. Sometimes I feel a little insane with thoughts running through my head, so it's nice to write them down and that others read them too. I really appreciate it and read every response.

But on the topic, I think it would have been Riza. She talks in one of the untranslated spinoff games that she tried to impress Roy once by cooking something elaborate for his birthday. It tasted terrible and it gave him an upset stomach. But he ate it without complaining and still praised her for her efforts. She was so moved by his kindness she vowed to get better at cooking to impress him better and she did! She is a good cook now. (I'd have married her on the spot wtf).

I can imagine her kinda disliking and distrusting him at first. Here is this stranger who suddenly moves into her house and steals her dad. But he keeps being annoyingly nice to her, and actually cares about her and tries to connect with her. How could she not fall in love kek. But at that time their age gap may make it a bit awkward so Roy should do the proper thing and littlesisterzone her.

I can see Mustang being the first to fall in love after Ishval when they are working together. I think after the war Hawkeye could (or should tbh) hate him a little, yet at the same time she pinned all her hope and her will to live on him. Very conflicted feelings. For both of them. Mustang also hates himself, he is her boss now and feels responsible for her choices. He wants to be someone she does not regret trusting. So I guess he falls harder and faster then 🤔 But he'll probably have to keep it to himself until Hawkeye falls in love again or make some move. I don't think he would want to take advantage and he's still her boss... eh I don't know. Fanfic writers probably have better thought out scenarios. And in the end their mess is mutual.

I still also kinda want them to get together between flame alchemy study sessions, but then it would have not been about love. Sure they care for their former childhood friend/housemate, but they also have not spoken for a couple of years. Maybe it's more for Riza about doing everything her dad would have hated while Roy gets laid with his cute childhood friend so he ain't complaining. I'm sure Roy being a hopeless romantic will try and make it good, but yeah, there is not much or deep love involved. They never intended to see each other again after anyway.

I almost forgot this. Not like I have written much this month at all and I still feel like my writing is a little rusty...

Napoleon was definitely the dream husband type. The kind who helped you with housework without being prompted to, was usually good with it and, when he wasn’t, was willing a quick to learn.

When you had left to go shopping, you weren’t expecting for him to finish any work you had left, while also looking after your daughter.

Speaking of them, as you set the shopping bags in the kitchen, you noticed how quiet the house was. It was unusual at this time of the day.

You found them laying on a makeshift bed of blankets and pillows, in a sunny spot in the garden behind the house. Napoleon was lying on his back with the little girl on his chest, one of his arms supporting her. It was such a warm and peaceful scene you could simply stand there and watch them.

And not only there. Watching your husband and daughter bonding was always a heartwarming sight that brought a smile to your face. They were always the sunshine that brought warmth and light into your life.

Kneeling by them, you leaned over to kiss your daughter’s forehead, then give Napoleon a chaste kiss. Your lips pressed to his were actually what muffled a squeal when a hand wrapped around your waist, pulling you into the bedding with them. When you pulled back, Napoleon was smiling at you with half-lidded eyes.

“Welcome home, Nunuche.” He chuckled, kissing you again.

“Since when do you wake up this easily?”

“And who told you I was sleeping yet?”

“So you admit you were planning to sleep?”

“The weather is nice, our princesse is finally asleep, and you were taking a while to come back.”

You accommodated yourself better by his side. His hand moved from your back to caress your hair.

“So you will join us?”

“You were the one who pulled me in.”

You two laugh. Maybe a little too loud because it causes your daughter to stir in her father’s arms.

“Mama?” she called in a whimper.

“I’m here, little princess.” You reach over to hold her little hand, rubbing your thumb over the back until she relaxed and fell back asleep. You and Napoleon shared a silent laugh.

“You look so happy right now.” This time, he kissed your forehead.

“How could I not be with such a wonderful family? I love you two so much.”

“Then that must be why I am so happy, too.”

In the past, the idea of such a sunny family had sounded like a fantasy. Now it was your everyday life. Even when you had your dark cloud days, your love only shone brighter afterward.

You two kissed again, sharing your warmth and happiness, silently vowing to never stop shining on each other’s life and being the sunshine of your daughter’s life.

Oh wow, I have so, SO many OTPs that I would die for it's insane!!! I guess I can put together the top five that have driven me the most crazy~~

1 - Lovesquare (Miraculous Ladybug)

Obviously, this is the most predictable one from me hahaahah! These two have gotten me in a chokehold like no other pairings and that's because not only does this show allow us to see so many variations of them interacting with one another but also because of how they overturn many gendered tropes!

We have Adrien/Chat Noir so open about his love and affections for Marinette/Ladybug whilst she struggles to vocalise her feelings for him and often runs away. We have him openly emotional and quick to voice what is in his heart whilst she's often bottling up her own emotions. We have him often sacrificing himself to save her whilst the world can't be saved without her power. We have him haunting the narrative (as Chat Blanc), we have her saving him like a knight as civilians and just more and more and more.

I can write a 100K word essay about why I love these two and it wouldn't even scratch the tip of the iceberg. These two are made for each other.

2 - Shadow x Maria (Sonic The Hedgehog)

Probably one of the first few younger childhood OTPs that still have me going astronomically insane for them. It's no secret that I'm obsessed with tragic pairings and this one ticks all my boxes. As we've seen from the recent animation shorts, Maria and Shadow were each other's whole worlds! She wanted to finally visit Earth with him by his side and he wanted to be able to cure her illness.

And then Shadow had to watch her be brutally killed before his very eyes? So he vowed to destroy humanity in her name? Only to remember the promise she begged for him to honour, choosing to save the world with Sonic instead like Maria wanted? I am not normal about them they deserve the moon, stars and universe! They loved each other!! They loved each other so much and Shadow was willing to kill everyone as vengeance!!! I love them so much~~~

3 - Soul x Maka (Soul Eater)

I like to call them the ladynoir before ladynoir was a thing hahaahh! Maka and Soul's partnership means EVERYTHING to me and the lengths that they would go for each other (especially the lengths Soul would go through) brings me so much joy!

Seeing how their relationship develops from being childish and slightly mean to each other to the unbreakable bond it is now is just so good! They're so unique! Imagine my shock when I first watched the anime and seeing how protective Soul was over Maka. "A boy being so protective over the girl in a shonen animanga? Without any of the weird tropes into play? WOW!!" Thirteen-year-old me was ENLIGHTENED for real.

4 - Gojo x Geto (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Another doomed, tragic relationship. Another bittersweet romance that literally causes major plotlines in the story and I can never have enough. These two are like the sun and the moon and whether you see their bond as romantic or platonic, there is no denying the impact that they have had on each other! I love them, I hate them and I wanted them to have the best life they could have ever possibly had!!!!

Fellas never break up in front of KFC otherwise it'll cause your own downfall in the future LMAO.

5 - Ichigo x Aoyama (Tokyo Mew Mew)

Most likely my first ever OTP even before I even knew what all these terms meant and will continue to stay in my heart forever. I was obsessed with these two and would draw them practically every single day. Imagine how shocked I was to find out how unpopular this ship was online when I finally had internet in the house 😭

Cute, clumsy, optimistic girl x big bad alien in disguise who chose her over destroying humanity??? What's not to love!? THIS BOY LOVED HER SO MUCH HE UNCONSCIOUSLY CREATED A WHOLE ASS NEW ALTER EGO JUST TO PROTECT HER AND CLAIMED THAT HE IS HERS!!!! INSANE THEY MAKE ME INSANE!!!!! I love Ichigo with all three of his personas! UGH!!!!

They could have been a doomed romance BUT LOVE WON AND THEY BOTH LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER!

I loved how their relationship played out in the manga, the OG anime and the reboot~ I need to draw these two again.

Why I like them/why I don’t: it's wild, when i like initially watched GX i didnt like yubel very much??? im not the biggest fan of a lot of choices in GX s3 and for whatever reason they didnt rly click with me... ive grown to like them a lot over time though :^) the concept of 'the human person from thousands of years and a dimension away ago volunteered to get turned into a dragon demon because they cared so much about someone and then they were also made into a duel monsters card that got sent to space and went crazy up there. from the evil space light' is BANANAS. PEAK YUGIOH. and their design does kick so much ass. i wish we got to see more of them post fusing with jaden and Just Hanging Out :(

What I like about their appearance: again like. it's a kickass design. The one boob is fucking legendary. But i especially like their two-tone hair and freaky mishmash arms,the way everything in their design chaotically but cohesive reads as "fiendish being representative of fusion as a concept" is really cool.

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?: same in both! yoobyyyy yooble yoooouuuuu

OTP: ok it's like. technically my otp And notp are the same thing; ive talked about it in the past but im just not really the biggest fan of jaden/yubel in any romantic context (in general i dont really like 'fused together for eternity' as a romantic gesture (author's note: this user is aro) but also like. yubel knew the jaden we know and see since he was a little kid and it's just rly not my thing keeping that in consideration and Also shipping them 😭 sorry. it's weird. BUT i do really like jaden and yubel's dynamic, and from a sort of platonic soulmates stance i go a little crazy bonkers. i read a fic once that had this element of yubel like. having to reconcile with the fact the Present Day Jaden that exists isn't 1:1 the same person as the king they loved so long ago but still vowing to protect him and i love shit like that.

NOTP: see above. it's complicated lol

OT3: i do like the absolutely toxic mire potential of jaden/yubel/jesse relationship drama. good lord.

Favourite card they use: themself :3 i do especially love Terror Incarnate...sickass two headed monster dragon.....

Favourite moment they were in: i do love everything about when they possessed Jesse, from the all timer Zane duel to killing Adrian (good) to the character design and expressions. just fantastic. peak danabait

Least favourite moment: as much as i really like yubelfied!marcel from a design standpoint god that shit in the spirit world desert just does nothing for me :,/ WHEN THEY FUSED THE STUDENTS INTO DUEL MONSTERS??? WEIRD AS HELL. NOT MY FAVORITE.
