#otoh when people decide it should be March in their houses

i don't have AC at home, so my thermostat is currently set to 50 aka the furnace is off. house reached around 90 today and I did not love that. but i also don't want my living space to be under 70, if it's over 80 outside?
my metabolism gets so screwed up by repeated jumps across such an extreme range over the course of the day, which is really hard on my whole system, and it furthermore becomes impossible to wear the correct length of pants; anything that's survivable outdoors is going to make me miserable inside.
this is also the basic reason i dislike florida, the state I've spent the most time in that's far enough south air conditioning is de rigeur. i wind up curling up with a blanket to survive indoors in my reasonable summer clothing, or going out to repeatedly bake myself to get my body temperature up to something reasonable again so i can survive the 65F indoors, or dressing for the way people inexplicably keep the insides of their houses and then melting into a puddle if forced to be outdoors. there's no winning.
americans live across all latitudes from the arctic circle into the tropics, you are not going to get a unified opinion about the weather from us I promise.
#you can layer for cold weather#and it's expected that you will#and that transitioning to indoors at that time of year involves stripping the outer layers off#otoh when people decide it should be March in their houses#pulling a cardigan and lap blanket out of your bag is not socially acceptable#you're just expected to endure the very expensive glacial impersonation#with a smile#hate it
