A/N: Thank you for my first Otis request! I've been in love with this man for going on twenty years so I have lots of headcanons for him. I feel like this is realistically (to me) how he would have a relationship with someone who wasn't either a victim or murderer while still keeping him in character (I hope!) Also yes I had to get the quote in the last bullet, I was watching the film as I wrote this. I hope you enjoy it. I’d love to know what you all think to this, and feel free to send me more requests 💌

→ It's widely known that Otis harbours some unconventional interests. In the small town of Ruggsville, the Firefly family's prominence, especially their ties to local celebrity Captain Spaulding, is undeniable. In this backwater community, everyone has their own shades of darkness when it comes to entertainment or survival, so you don't bat an eyelash at the rumours circulating about the family.

 → Otis charms you with his quick wit and sharp tongue, an aura of danger enveloping him and lingering in his presence. He frequents the local watering hole where you work, spending quiet summer evenings regaling you with stories of travelling the country with his younger sister, moving from one stolen car to the next. When you ask why he returned to the dead-end town, he nonchalantly declares that family is the most important thing to him. And then, with a mischievous grin, he casually mentions his involvement in a Satanic cult. 

→ Otis thinks that perhaps what draws him to you is your refusal to flinch at his unsavoury stories or the sly smirk you offer when he alludes to the sweet taste of your skin. He enjoys the recoil from others, welcomes it even because it's what he's known since he was a child and means he's got the upper hand. You give him pause, a dangerous thing indeed. In you, he sees a kindred spirit equally disillusioned with societal norms, and he wonders how long it will take to break you. 

→ With every aspect seemingly covered, there's no obvious place for you in his life. Yet, thoughts of you intrude on his mind during the day, distracting him from his tasks. The persistent idea that you might offer something different to his routine gradually consumes him, eroding all other thoughts until only you remain. 

→ His carnal needs are met by the bottom feeders he keeps around for a quick release. Sometimes, when their pleading becomes bothersome and he wants the peace and quiet, he will end it fast because it's easier when they're cold. He pulls them into his cot and curls into them until they have festered and rotten to the point that Tiny has to dispose of them. If it's a willing body he seeks, a trip to the whorehouse suffices. 

→ It's a few months before you meet the family. Otis doesn't need to tell you the importance of the moment, you can sense it in his tense demeanour, permeating the lounge as Mama parades you around the room like a prize pig at the county fair. You sense his eyes upon you, observing your reactions to each member, particularly noting your response to Tiny's imposing presence and your handling of Grandpa's vulgarity. In his mind, he rationalizes that you'll need a strong stomach if you are going to be with him. 

→ You are under no illusion that you're not the only person from whom Otis seeks comfort. He isn't shy about the fact that he needs more than what you can give him, says as much when he insists on you leaving him be for a few days to exorcise his darker urges. He doesn't approach the subject of you joining him sometimes until he is certain that you won't spring like a scared rabbit. When he finally does ask, you accept with a morbid curiosity.

→ Otis certainly has his private indulgences, but he takes great pleasure in involving you in some of his less solitary activities. Whatever the pursuit may be, it often concludes with him inside of you, his teeth leaving raw marks on your skin as he draws out multiple orgasms from your pliable body.

It often results in Otis's eyes blazing with fury, his hands trembling with conviction as he towers over you, unleashing a torrent of berating and belittling words until you find yourself on your knees before him. It's a volatile dance of intellectual stimulation intertwined with the raw intensity of his dominance.

→ It falls to you to navigate these moments, gently guide him back to a sense of equilibrium with a steady stream of apologies and affirmations, trail open mouthed kisses down his body until you feel him relax under your touch. Sometimes his tumultuous thoughts wouldn't waver and he'd either take his frustrations out on your cunt or push you away until you are begging at his door. For Otis, isolation becomes a test of your loyalty—will you stay, or run? 

→ And time and again, you choose to stay, receiving no verbal apology afterward because that is Otis' way. However, when he deems fit, he leaves small tokens on the bedside table for you to find in the morning—a small sculpture, a painting—his non-verbal way of acknowledging his feelings about his actions. You know better than to draw attention to these gestures. Instead, you offer a kiss to his lips as a silent acknowledgment of his effort to make amends. → Overall, Otis is content with you, would dare say happy. You fit into his life with ease, don't give him much grief when you're not busy bitching a song about nothing. However, the devil makes work for idle hands, and there's still work to be done in fully acclimating you to his ways. He does love watching you break.

he's quite alarmed at first, unsure about whether or not you actually mean it

he doesn't really move or anything, he kind of just stands there motionless, watching you nervously

immediately noticing his unease, you clarify that you admire his creativity and are simply curious to see what goes on inside his mind

he's flattered by this but he doesn't offer you a response and just turns back to his work, letting you watch him again in peace

Just knowing each other so well that all it takes is a look for the other to know what you mean - being used to his rants, being used to his grumpyness and seeing beyond that... And the same for you; he's used to all sides of you, and despite knowing you for years, he still wants to see and know you more.

He loves the idea of you relying so completely on him and how you will wail for him if he doesn't take care of you in the middle of your Heat.

It fuels his ego in a way that leaves him hard and aching in his pants.

He'll try and complain and growl at you when you start trying to nest, yelling at you for stealing his clothes and blankets, but if you leave the room and come back you will find even more of his clothes and spare blankets dumped on your nest while he ignores you from the other side of the room. Intently staring at his latest art piece yet focused entirely on the way your scent spikes with happiness.

Would definitely choke back an answering pleased growl at your delighted chirp.

The closer it gets to your Heat the more antsy and aggressive Otis becomes.

Slaughtering victims with a frightening amount of sadism that he rarely displays. Usually content on "playing" with his prey instead of butchering them like he will during this time. Especially if any victim is a fellow Alpha. They are treated to his most vile and furious urges and instincts.

Everyone tends to stay clear of him, and you, the closer your Heat is. (Everyone probably except Baby. She thinks Otis is hilarious during this time)

It will get to the point where he never wants you to leave the room, except for the bathroom, and he even grumbles the entire time you take a shower. He will bring food up to you and hand feed you to appease some of his more basic instincts to take care of you.

Otis will start stockpiling food and water in your room, scenting over the entire space almost hourly, and yes that includes scenting you as well. Huffing and growling the entire time like an angry bear.

He won't have sex with you as much in the lead up to your Heat, his Alpha hindbrain more focused on preparing for the actual Heat to start, but he will grope and pet you heavily. Leaving lots of teeth marks, hand-shaped bruises, and hickies on you.

Will absolutely still make you blow him or fuck between your thighs when he's particularly worked up.

Once your Heat actually starts then his possessiveness goes through the roof.

He doesn't let anyone near the door of the room, except maybe Mama Firefly on occasion, and you barely are able to leave to use the bathroom.

He is extremely attentive, but will stay his usual grumpy and surly self. Growling at you when you try to leave the nest, plopping completely on top of you once you return to cover you back in his scent, and will bite you everywhere hard enough to bleed.

Swatting at your backside when you try to wiggle free.

He'll lazily clean you up once you get too filthy (meaning you whine and beg him enough for him to agree) but he will use that time as an excuse to check over your wounds and grab you more water or even force feed you. Possibly letting you sit on his cock the entire time you sip on water and eat to help keep you calm and him focused.

(I don't have to mention the brutal fuckfest that will happen the entirety of your Heat.)

When you start nearing the end, when you are mostly exhausted and limp, he will let himself be a bit more soft and gentle with your aching body.

Leaving more kiss marks than bite marks. Nuzzling into you while you nap. Will even pet over your hair and back. Might even let Baby bring him an icepack to place between your legs to help with the soreness.

How would Otis spend his weekend?

Hi! Thank you for such a fun and interesting question!! 💕💝

Having a weekend that is set apart from the rest of the week would mean that he'd have a job, which I'm sure people have varying opinions on. I'm not sure where I stand with that, but he probably has a lot of odd jobs around town; he helps out Spaulding at the gas station, he helps out RJ when he disassembles and sells the victim's cars for parts... Stuff like that. There's plenty of work to do around the house too; they have chickens for example. As another side-note, I'm not sure if others feel the same, and the movie isn't clear on this either, but I'm pretty sure some of Otis' art projects are in Spauldings museum (crocodile lady) so that's also something he fills his time with.

I headcanon that Otis reads quite a bit, both non-fiction and fiction. For the non-fiction he likes all sorts of stuff; philosophy, biographies of artists and musicians he likes, a little bit of history even. And for fiction, he reads anything that catches his eye. He doesn't finish every book he starts, sometimes he puts one down for months and then picks it up again much later if he's in the mood for it. He likes horror, perhaps even cosmic horror like tales by Lovecraft.

But to Otis, a truly good weekend is one where there's visitors 🔪, and when he has an s/o - you need to be there too. So here is an ideal weekend for him:

Saturday:

It starts off simple; he makes love to you in bed, then a quick shower and a lazy breakfast, chatting with the family in the kitchen while Baby squeezes oranges for fresh orange juice. He lazes around a bit, reads some, and then a couple comes in. The afternoon is filled with a chase and he's so glad to get his blood pumping. In the evening, he lights the candles and it's torture time. Once he grows bored, or the victim passes out, he returns to you and needs to get some more of that lust out, but not bloodlust this time.

Sunday:

It starts off much the same, but this time he makes the poor victim watch as he fucks you - his favourite kind of sex. He doesn't shower after, he likes the blood. These particular victims perished soon, and they bury the bodies. The hard work of that is tiring. None of the visitors inspired him this time, so he gets a little moody. You take him on a drive and the mood is so different than how it was the day before, much quieter and more subdued. You like him like this too, though, and you watch the stars and he rests his head on your shoulder for a while. Then you head back to the house, perhaps have a little treat before bed, and then the weekend is over!
