Sorry for all these headcannon requests, guess I’m sort of on a baby kick all of a sudden 🤷🏼‍♀️. Could you do something involving the the babies (or one baby, doesn’t matter) saying their first word? Would it be papa or dada or Charlie (even if Tommy and Alfie don’t have the heart to tell him how unlikely that’d be for a first word)? Can’t you just picture them turning it into some sort of competition with everyone encouraging the babies to say their respective titles/names any chance they get...morning, before bed, while the twins are taking a bath - doesn’t matter!
Hey, don’t be sorry for sending so many requests, I truly am loving these! So please, keep them coming!
(so I actually had to googled when do babies start saying their first broken words, it’s 10 to 12 months apparently)
Ask and you shall receive: here’s the twins first words!
The twins were around ten months old when they started this feud on what their first word would be
It was actually Alfie who started it
It started as a way to encourage the boys to start talking, and when he got a response from them he started to do it more often, going around the house with them saying “papa, say papa”
When Tommy caught up to that, he started doing the same, only he was encouraging them to say “dada”
That how the feud started
They started doing it all the time: when they were changing them, bathing them, reading to them, tucking them in their cribs, dressing them
It got to such point that the rest of the family took sides, started talking to the twins and telling which word they should say first (Polly and uncle Charlie voted for dada – Ada and Arthur went for papa – Finn, Curly and Johnny Dogs went for ‘a word each one’ – Charlie went for his own name, confident that his brothers were able to say his name as their first word, nobody had the heart to tell him otherwise)
“What was Charlie’s first word?” Alfie asks one night – “It was ‘ma’ and learned to say ‘mama’ before he got to say ‘dada’” – “Really?” – “He asked a lot for her, so…” Immediately after that Alfie changed the topic
It was Danny the first one to say his first words, and it was “Da”; Tommy had been pacing around in his office, baby in one arm, the phone in the other, Danny had grabbed his face with both of his tiny hands and said it; Tommy didn’t have the decency to say goodbye, he simply hung up the phone before asking his son to repeat himself and he did, smiling wide. When he told Alfie, the alpha was so damn happy that he didn’t care Danny’s first word wasn’t his name
It was a few days later that Asher said his first word, the five of them had been in the sitting room enjoying some family time, Danny had come up to Alfie asking to be picked up by yelling “Pa” and Asher came up behind him and does exactly as his brother, “Pa!” he says, extending his arms; Alfie didn’t think much of it, simply grabbing both his sons lifting them into his lap. “Alfie” – “Yeah” – “Asher just said his word” The bewilder look the alpha got was enough to make Tommy chuckle – “Pa” Asher says again, and this time Alfie didn’t miss it. His smile was so bright it may as well have been the sun itself.
