Life Day at the Marwils

Indran and Alastar sat on the couch, his arm around her looking at the activity in the upper living room. All of their children were home for this life day, happy, healthy and finally getting along. Wrapping paper was strewn over the floor as gifts were still being unwrapped. Vowrawn and Sha’kira sat on the other couch observing the activity as well, content with the atmosphere.

Lak’s 3 year old son Dimitri was chasing her around the room with his new toy lightsaber, Caitlin and Tygetus were dodging them trying to get to the final batch of presents, Markus was sitting next to his boyfriend Kean who was experiencing a Marwil family life day for the first time while Killian and Andriy were encouraging Dimitri in his chase after his mother. 

Turning Lak bent down and caught Dimitri in her arms as he laughed. Whispering in his hear he got an evil little giggle then charged after his Uncle Killian, saber swinging while yelling he was going to get him.

“Lak, what did you tell your son that has him now assaulting your brother?” Indran asked trying to not laugh at Killian fending off his nephew. 

“Nothing much, just....redirected him towards someone who fancies himself quiet the swordsman. No biggie. Nothing you need to worry about mom. Just roll with it.”

“Attention everyone,” Mortis voice boomed in the room as everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to listen, “Let us open the final batch of presents then go and eat dinner.”

Everyone had their last present in front of them, Dimitri having no patience at all tore into his and squealed with joy. Holding up he had been giving the Wrats Imperial cruiser set. Everyone turned and looked at Mortis when hearing his groan. 

“Thank you Uncle wowrawn!!!” Dimitri ran and gave a very satisfied Vowrawn a big hug

“You are welcome my boy, make sure you have your Grandfather play with it with you.”

Lak couldn’t hold back a laugh and didn’t even attempt to cover it up. 

Markus was next and his jaw dropped at the book he was holding then his head snapped up and looked at his smiling older sister. “This is incredible Lak, thank you so much.”

“What is it Markus?” Caitlin asked

“An original copy of the laws of the Suavax. I know they are aliens but this is incredible.”

“You’re welcome Markus, I thought you might appreciate it.”

Next Vowrawn and Mortis traded vintage scotch and brandy while Indran and Shak exchanged necklaces, both of which Lak had to admit were stunning. Markus came over and handed Lak a package that looked like it could be a book.

Tearing the wrapper paper off faster than her son did she grinned and held it up.”Its a first edition treatise on swordsmanship by Ajunta Pall. How did you....Kean. You told him didn’t you?”

“I will not confirm or deny I did Lak.”

“Thank you Markus, I’ve had my eye on this for a while.” 

Looking down at Andriy he stood up and smiled. “Andriy and I have an announcement as well and since the whole family is gathered I can think of no better time. We are expecting our second child.” 

The look of joy on her parents face brought a smile to her face as her mom got up and hugged her tight.

“This is wonderful Lak, we are so happy for you and Andriy.”

“Thank y-”

Everyone’s attention was now turned to the little boy doing some kind of dance, at least that is what it looked like while singing “I’m gonna be a big brother.”

“Let us all go to the dining room and enjoy dinner before we all go our separate ways.” Mortis told the gathered Sith trying to bring some sort of order to the room

Taking his hand Indran smiled and kissed him on the cheek, “This is a good life day dear, try to smile.”

“I am my dear. Shall we.”

No one left that night, each couple retiring to their respective rooms one by one later in the evening. For the first time in 5 years Indran could go to sleep knowing not only were all of her children home and safe but another addition to the family was on its way. Caitlin would soon give birth to her first child and Lak her second 7 months later. Putting her head on her husbands chest she fell sound asleep with a smile on her face.
