sorry i would really like to have the patience to be nice and engage in discussion with everyone as i once did but i genuinely have a hard time believing someone can be THIS stupid for real and not just be trolling or baiting. this is the condescending 20 paragraph ask i got before. like genuinely 2 years ago i would have answered it point by point but at this point frankly if you don't put in the fucking effort to think and to make a coherent argument i'm not putting it in for you. i'm not steelmanning a position of someone who engages with this level of lack of respect, this is my fucking blog and maybe i would have a modicum more of patience if you had the decency to send this off anon or in dms but you didn't. don't fucking talk to me like this and expect me to hold your hand and explain to you like to a 5 year old more than i already did

Anon ask reading:
I am the anon about the climate migration
Not sure your intentions by moving the goal post with your answer but i will try again. Bear with my bad english and lack of editing.
you are using the dimished responsability falacy. climate change is global. it comes from humans everywhere. EVERY COUNTRY HAS TO CHANGE.From the poorest to the richest. From the islands to the landlocked. Everyone can do their part. Decisive collective action is the solution. Everyone who thinks fleeing will save their lives, meet the exhausted from the fight. Europe and europeans are not magic people that create all the problem and solve all the problems but if they are ready for this mess, applauses from me and keeping doing it because I am 100% sure europe is going to suffer with the rise of sea levels (already are) and the desertification (of the south specially).
Others countries need to refocus. They need to care about climate change. Is your invasion of papua new guinea that important indonesia??? shouldn't you be worried about the rising sea levels???? i see your people knocking on europe's door... But where is the FOCUS.
Now if Europe is the good student and tries to change it's ways, why do we have to give them extra problems. A sudden increase of population that's hard manage in climate crisis (now add every otherissue). The boat sinks.
If this about people drowning in the mediterranean sea, not one of them is moving because of climate change. Be real please. And why don't hold northen african countries accountable in the same way? you say by ANY MEANS NECESSARY but only europe et al. has to work on it. I mean whatever hits Morocco, hits Spain (both colonizers, both imperialist, both monarchies, similar location and Spain is richer but also the one with more internal conflict), but for you the people of one are guilty and the other are a victim. Many means necessary were not used before they reached Europe...
Nationalism has always being worse than fascism. Fascists betray their own much quicker than nationalists. And honestly they can both die in the next two seconds and I wouldn't miss them.
now your response
I am looking at ND Index you sent. HOW is it possible that brazil... one of the most powerfull economies, huge country that very much could just stop bulldozing the amazon for cattle is worse... than UKRAINE? I am sure ukraine would love to be worried about climate change only right now... I sawthe brazilian floods earlier this year and also saw them wanting more picanha (also pretty low on the readiness) and making sure they have it.
India is worse than Fiji? Fiji knows it's coming and tries but India is chilling what is this about? IS ABOUT FOCUS! India is worried about idk but it isn't climate change (or femicide but that's another global issue)
looking at the lowest how do you justify Angola? Another huge country, not an island, not at war, full of natural resources but the most powerfull people come from the oil industry don't they? did we find any points for change instead of PACK YOUR BAGS PEOPLE WE ARE MOVING TO SAN MARINO!
Look at the readiness index of Tuvalu and Barbados. Tiny islands! they beat Spain and Turkey! FOCUS AND CHANGE PLEASE
remember the critical thinking i asked you to do? do it!
Now the internal climate migration chart. how is this relevant to your europe et al are bad people for their laws? subsaharan countries are pretty big compared to european countries. Easily you move away within a larger country than a small one. In a small one i would assume the migration would be away from the country. Again decisive action seems to help with it all (orange bars).
now the personal question,
why are people being displaced? multiple reasons. War, Greed, Tourism, Agriculture, Invasions, Occupations, Human Ego.
a non evil reason why are people being displaced? You are right to say climate change is the less evil one because it's human action versus earth/nature/ecosystem reaction. Everyone is guilty in some capacity. Following that logic, I guess it has to be ego from the displaced. build your house on the river bed all you want but don't tell me you are drowning when the raining season comes. I guess they become displaced by their own actions versus nature. Non humans are always innocent. rivers are innocent, plants, beasts, mountains, rocks, bacteria, etc... all innocent.
What should be done about the non evil reasons?? More protected areas interdicted to human settling. let nature be nature. let some ecosystems not have humans directly in them. No fishing no cattle no hunting no housing no mining. Human protecc for once!

Various Places of Interest: Alaska Edition
Here’s a list of places that I’ve read about recently, and found intriguing. 1. Kennecott Copper Mines
The Kennecott Copper mines in Alaska were a copper mining system, and mining town that started in the early 1900’s and ended in 1938. The system had a near 200 mile rail system to transport the ore to the coast of Alaska. Initially named after a spelling error (Technically Kennicott is the correct way of spelling), the mining town’s community was tight knit, and even having movie nights twice a week. Majority of the people that worked in Kennecott were from outside of the area, and would send money back to their families. At its peak, the mine produced 200 million dollars worth of copper. Today, many of the buildings in Kennecott are in disrepair, having been abandoned for decades. The National Park Service owns the mines, and work with a local community called ‘Friends of Kennicott’ to identify buildings that will be stabilized. Today, you can visit the town and participate in a ‘walking ghost tour’ in Kennecott. There are various exhibits to look at too, such as the General Store and Post Office, tunnels of the mining operations, and the General Manager’s office, which is the oldest building in Kennecott. The tourist season runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and is closed from Fall-Spring. 2. Nome Gold Mines
Though current mining activity in Nome is minimal, Nome is a historic mining site in the state of Alaska, with a gold rush from 1899-1909. In September of 1898, three men dubbed as, “The Three Lucky Swedes” (Jafet Lindeberg, Erik Lindblom, and John Brynteson) found gold on Anvil Creek. Word of this made far reaches and by 1899, Nome’s population was 10,000. That same year, gold was found on the beaches of Nome, which spurred even more people to show up to the area. In the 90’s, the Alaska Gold Company operated an open pit and surface gold mine with about 100 employees. With the mine having been an active since 1924. The ground is perpetually frozen at the mining site, so the mining practice was to pump water through the ground in a network of pipes to thaw it before the big bucket dredges scooped it up. Alaska Gold quit the dredging process in 1993, though some gravel is still mined from the open pit. Today, the city of Nome is about 3800 people. 3. James W. Dalton Highway
James W. Dalton Highway, or Dalton Highway, is a mostly gravel road 414 miles long or 666 kilometers. The road starts at Elliot Highway north of Fairbanks, and ends at Deadhorse. It used to be known as the Haul Road, or North Slope Haul Road, and was built in 1974. Open year-round but is not always passable, it lies directly parallel to the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline. Maximum distance between gas stations is 244 miles. 4. Permafrost Research Tunnel
A site for the Army Corps of Engineers, the permafrost research tunnel was excavated from 1963-1969 for the studies of permafrost, ice science, and mining techniques for permafrost environments. The tunnel is 360 feet long horizontally, 49 feet deep, 13-16 feet wide, and 6-8 feet high. The ice contains history from thousands of years, including fossils, plant remains, and bacteria. The dates for these are anywhere between 40-45,000 years old. Microbiologists were even able to revive a bacteria that had been trapped in the ice after 25,000 years. 5. Red Dog Mine
Located in the northwest Alaska area, Red Dog Mine is one of the largest Zinc mines in the world. The mine has had over 500 million dollars invested in it to extract about 85 million tons of Lead and Zinc. The mine is in a very remote spot, with the closest town seeming to be Kotzebue, which is still 80 miles away. Accounting for 10% of the worldwide Zinc production, the mine is largest producer of the ore in the world. 6. Project Chariot Site
Code name for an excavation project, Project Chariot was to be where nuclear bombs would be used to build a harbor on the west coast of the site. It was originally part of the ‘Plowshare Program’ or ‘Operation Plowshare’, a 50’s plan created by the US Atomic Energy Commission where it was mandated that non-military uses for nuclear technology were to be created. They planned to detonate nuclear explosives equivalent to 160 Hiroshima bombs underground in Ogotoruk Valley at Cape Thompson, about 30 miles southeast of the village of Point Hope, a village with an overwhelming Native American population. The local residents of Point Hope weren’t initially informed about the project, but once they were they immediately refused the plan. The Ogotoruk creek was, and still is, a major hunting and activity site for the town, but despite this, the Atomic Commission stated that they would have moved villagers to new areas. The commission wanted to move several villages for the first year after the blasts, and then create a new settlement next to the harbor (that they had the blasts at) sending the villagers back to the new area. Research showed that people of Native background already had consumed large amounts of radioactive isotopes, as the worldwide detonations ended up in dust that concentrated in lichens, which is the food that caribou eat. Since the Natives ate caribou, this is how they had the isotopes. Cancelled in 1963 due to protesting, radioactive material had already been brought to the area, and contaminated the ground. At some point in the future though, the contaminated ground had been dug up.

Planning for Post-Corona: Five proposals to craft a radically more sustainable and equal worldCOVID-19 has shaken the world
Planning for Post-Corona: Five proposals to craft a radically more sustainable and equal worldCOVID-19 has shaken the world. It has already led to the loss or devastation of countless lives, while many people in vital professions are working day and night to attend to the sick and stop further spread. Personal and social losses, and the fight to stop these, demand our continued respect and support. At the same time, it is critical to view this pandemic in historical contextin order to avoid repeating past mistakes when we plan for the future. The fact that COVID-19 has already had such a major economic impact is due, amongst otherfactors, to the economic development model that has been dominant globally over the last 30 years. This model demands ever-growing circulation of goods and people, despite the countless ecological problems and growing inequalities it generates. Over the last few weeks, the weaknesses of the neoliberal growth machine have been painfully exposed. Amongst otherissues we have seen: large companies pleading for immediate state support once effective demand falls away for even a short time; insecure jobs being lost or put on hold; and further strain placed on already underfunded healthcare systems. People who recently confronted the government in their struggles for recognition and decent salaries are now, remarkably, considered to have ‘vital professions’ in healthcare, elderly care, public transport andeducation. A further weakness of the current system, and one that is not yet prominent in discussions of the pandemic, is the link between economic development, the loss of biodiversity and important ecosystem functions, and the opportunity for diseases like COVID-19 to spread among humans. These are lethal links and could become much more so. The WHO has already estimated that, globally, 4.2 million people die each year from outdoor air pollution, and that the impacts of climate change are expected to cause 250,000 additional deaths per year between 2030 and 2050. Experts warn that with further severe degradation of ecosystems – a scenario that is to be expected under the current economic model – chances for further and even stronger virus outbreaks on top of these unfolding catastrophes are realistic. All this requires drastic and integrated action and makes it critical to start planning for a post-COVID-19 world as soon as possible. While some short-term positive social and environmental impacts have emerged in the crisis—such as community support, local organizing and solidarity, less pollution and GHG emissions—these changes will be temporaryand marginalized without concerted efforts for broader political and economic change. It is therefore necessary to envision how this current situation could lead to a more sustainable, fair, equitable, healthy, and resilient form of (economic) development going forward. This brief manifesto signed by 170 Netherlands-based scholars working on issues arounddevelopment aims to summarize what we know to be critical and successful policy strategies for moving forward during and after the crisis. We propose five key policy proposals for a post-COVID-19 development model, all of which can be implemented immediately and sustained after this particular crisis has subsided: 1) a move away from development focused on aggregate GDP growth to differentiateamong sectors that can grow and need investment (the so-called critical public sectors, and clean energy, education, health and more) and sectors that need to radically degrow due to their fundamental unsustainability or their role in driving continuous and excessive consumption(especially private sector oil, gas, mining, advertising, and so forth); 2) an economic framework focused on redistribution, which establishes a universal basic income rooted in a universal social policy system, a strong progressive taxation of income, profits and wealth, reduced working hours and job sharing, and recognizes care work and essential public services such as health and education for their intrinsic value; 3) agricultural transformation towards regenerative agriculture based on biodiversity conservation, sustainable and mostly local and vegetarian food production, as well as fair agricultural employment conditions and wages; 4) reduction of consumption and travel, with a drastic shift from luxury and wastefulconsumption and travel to basic, necessary, sustainable and satisfying consumption and travel; 5) debt cancellation, especially for workers and small business owners and for countries in the global south (both from richer countries and international financial institutions). As academics, we are convinced that this policy vision will lead to more sustainable, equal and diverse societies based on international solidarity, and ones that can better prevent and deal with shocks and pandemics to come. For us the question is no longer whether we need to start implementing these strategies, but how we go about it. As we acknowledge those groups hardest hit by this particular crisis in the Netherlands and beyond, we can do justice to them by being proactive in ensuring that a future crisis will be much less severe, cause much less suffering or not happen at all. Together with many other communities, in the Netherlands and globally, we believe the time is right for such a positive and meaningful vision going forward. We urge politicians, policy-makers and the general public to start organizing for their implementation sooner rather than later.

A manitoba women sues 6 RCMP officers for pulling her out of her shower naked and not allowing access for her to get her cloths. In the lawsuit she stated that because of that incident, she has post- traumatic stress disorder, fear of being alone and fear of showering. As result the plaintiff received general damages and also seeks punitive damages. The women’s claims haven’t been proven yet, the case is still going on. I think the women’s action are liable because the cops shouldn’t have made her stand naked. They should have provided her cloths because i know for a fact no one would like to be naked in front of 6 people.
