Lando/Oscar

purring in my lap ('cause he loves me) by @nyoomfruits | T | 5k Lando is visited often by Oscar's 'emotional support cat' - but not all is as it seems! This story is adorable. Oscar is very cat-coded, and the author captures that here beautifully. One thing that I really love about this author's writing is their use of humour - it always hits so perfectly.

'And he kind of looks like Oscar, too. Slender, lean, and with a slightly grumpy, unimpressed expression on his face. It makes Lando laugh a little. Like owner, like pet, clearly.'

Pierre/Pierre H

I Just Need Your Talking Next to Me by ghostmyghosthost | M | 8k Pierre and his engineer cope with the impending move to Alpine. This is a lovely, sweet story - the author characterises both of them fantastically, and the angst hits just right.

'Pierre couldn't even look at him during that speech that day in Suzuka, fear that the dam he’d carefully constructed around his emotions would collapse at any moment, any wrong movement, an errant glance, a wry smile, and his composed exterior would collapse.'

Bono/Charles

nsfw: Saltwater and Gasoline by @kritischetheologie | E | 15.4k Charles makes a move to Mercedes. To say that this fic changed my life would not be an exaggeration! The Charles characterisation here is some of my favourite in the whole fandom. The relationship that develops between the two of them took my breath away, at points - so warm and secure and lovely. I loved every second of this. I wish I could read it again for the first time.

'Bono’s eyes are soft, but the intensity of his gaze, the weight of it, leaves Charles speechless. He can feel the steady thrumming of his pulse in his wrists, his fingertips.'

George/Max

nsfw: winning mentality by @drivestraight | E | 18.5k Friends(-ish) with benefits. This is such a stunning story. The author truly captures Max and George in the most striking way - the push-pull-push-pull here is incredible. One thing that this author always does very well is gorgeous, circular storytelling: every single thing they write feels so beautifully thought out, so fulfilling. This fic is wonderful.

George/Guanyu

daffodils by @ruszhou | T | 27.4k An exploration of their relationship, post-Silverstone 2022. This is a really lovely fic - their friendship/relationship blossoms in such a beautiful, natural way. I love the way this author writes dialogue. It always flows so well.

'Guanyu smiles at him. It’s weird, the comfortable wavelength they share with one another. Guanyu has never met someone like George before — met someone who was just like him before — but it’s nice. The fact that he doesn’t have to explain himself twice is nice. Humbling. Maybe even a little cathartic.'
