Wincin OTP Headcanons

Yall I love Wincin so much? Childhood friends to lovers? One of my fave tropes ever. And Jacin and Winter’s relationship was done so well. Take your headcanons and run!

1) Who rocks the Ferris Wheel seat and who flips out and begs them to stop? Winter rocks it, but Jacin doesn’t ask her to stop. He just sits there smirking at her because she’s adorable.

2) Who is always horny and will have sex at any time, at any place and at any time? Winter is canonically more horny than Jacin, so I’m going to say Winter. They’re at a gala? She pushes him into a vacant closet nearby. They’re checking out a BSB (bioelectricity security block) factory? Winter finds an excuse for them to sneak away and go to the bathroom. Jacin frequently says, “Winter, seriously, I love you, but now isn’t the time.” fuck do i need to write wincin smut now?

3) Who is more into taking showers/baths together? Who tries to make it relaxing and who tries to make it sexy time? I think Jacin is, just because it gives him an excuse to be close to her. Jacin actually is the one to initiate sexy times because in his mind they’ll be able to skip the cleanup step and relax afterwards. Winter doesn’t object in the slightest.

4) Who likes to walk around the house naked and who tells the other to go put some clothes on? Winter. Jacin rolls his eyes at her and maintains eye contact because well, “don’t look down, don’t look down. You look down and you’re a goner and she wins.”

5) Who sleeps on the couch when they get into a fight? Jacin does, but they’ve only had two fights ever get that bad.

6) Who takes photos of the other while they sleep? Winter takes pictures of Jacin because it’s the one time he’s not constantly frowning.

7) Who said “I love you” first? and who ends their arguments in a fight with “Because I love you”? Again, can’t remember who said it first in canon, but I’m pretty sure it was Winter. Jacin is the one to say “because I love you?” to end arguments.

8) Who likes to wear the others sweatshirts? Winter likes to steal the jacket of his old guard uniform and wear only that. Jacin is but a simple man... he knows what she’s trying to do and he goes for it every single time because damn if she’s not the most beautiful woman he’s ever met.

9) Who wakes the other up in the middle of the night to tell them a cool dream they had? Who has the most nightmares, and who sings them back to sleep after? Winter wakes up in the middle of the night to tell Jacin her dreams. He tells her to go back to bed, but listens to her talk anyway. Winter has the worst nightmares given literally everything that’s happened in her life, but Jacin has a lot too. His are mostly about Winter getting hurt. Jacin will hum Winter to sleep when she has them, and She’ll actually sing him to sleep when he has them.

10) Who is more likely to cheat? We’re going to pretend this isn’t about cheating on another person because neither of them would ever do that. They love each other too much. Instead we’re gonna say who cheats at games. It’s Winter. All the time. He doesn’t call her Trouble for nothing.

11) Who makes fun of the other for having a crush on them, and who has to remind them that they are in a relationship? Neither of them does that. They were both in love with each other for basically their entire lives so...

12) Who starts a food fight in the kitchen? Winter. She thinks it’s fun. Jacin says they shouldn’t be making such a mess but when she throws a piece of cake in his face it is on. 

13) Who initiates duets? and who is the better singer? Winter initiates duets and Jacin joins in surprisingly fast. When she does it in front of the rest of the rampion crew, Jacin hesitates, but one look from Winter has him singing along. The rampion crew is shook that he can sing. Cinder isn’t surprised as much as everyone else because closeted singers can tell if someone else is a closeted singer. That also means Jacin has a feeling Cinder can sing, but he’s never been able to confirm it. Winter is the better singer of them, but Jacin can hold his own.

14) Who starts the hand holding? Who grabs the others butt? Who slides their arm around their waist? Who likes to put their fingers in the belt loops? Jacin is the one to initiate hand holding because it’s one of the easiest ways to keep her by his side. Winter likes to grab his butt. They both like sliding their arm around the other’s waist, it’s just a matter of who beats the other to it. Winter likes putting her fingers in his belt loops when she’s hugging him from behind then kiss or rest her head on his shoulder. 

15) Who likes writes the others name on their wrist? I don’t think either of them does this. Winter thinks about him all the time, sure, but she isn’t one to write as much on her wrist. And Jacin definitely isn’t.

16) Who is more seductive when they are drunk? and who is louder in bed? Jacin is a horny drunk which is part of the reason he doesn’t get drunk very often. Winter thinks it’s awesome and can totally get on board with it. but she never does anything with him when he’s drunk because he can’t give consent. always make sure you have consent, kids I really want to say Jacin is louder in bed too even though he desperately tries not to be. Winter loves it. It’s one of the few times she can get him out of his shell.

17) Who is more protective? Jacin. I don’t even need to elaborate on this one, just read all of the lunar chronicles, specifically Cress and Winter.

18) Who talks to the other while they are sleeping? Jacin talks to Winter when she’s sleeping. Usually it’s about how much he loves her. If Winter tried to do it, Jacin would wake up because he was trained to be a light sleeper.

19) Who drives and who has the window seat? Jacin drives and Winter has the window seat. He loves glancing over at her once in a while to see how happy she is to watch everything go by.

20) Who falls asleep in the others lap and who carries them to bed? Winter falls asleep in Jacin’s lap all the time. He never hesitates to carry her to bed, tuck her in, press a kiss to her forehead, then crawl into bed himself.

21) Who cuts the others hair? Winter cuts Jacin’s hair because she likes running her hands through it.

22) Who is super bad at sexting? and who sends them encouraging messages throughout the day? Jacin is terrible at sexting. Honestly not even worth trying, he’s that bad. Winter sends him encouraging messages because she knows they’ll make him smile for a split second.

23) Who thinks they are not good enough for the others love? and who’s more afraid of loosing the other? Who thinks they keep messing up, only for the other to tell them they don’t need to worry? I think they’re both secure enough in who they are to know they’re good enough for each other. Jacin is more afraid of losing Winter. He doesn’t really have a reason to be afraid of that after the revolution, but old habits die hard. I don’t think either of them thinks they mess up a lot either? They can both let things go if they know it isn’t their fault.

24) Who starts random slow dancing with the other in the kitchen? Who holds the other just above the ground and kisses them? Jacin will start randomly slow dancing with Winter when they’re alone sometimes. He also lifts her off the ground and kisses her.

25) Who says shitty puns and sex jokes just to see the other giggle and blush? They both say shitty puns from time to time, but Winter definitely says more sex jokes. Jacin tries very hard not to let them affect him, but more often than not a light blush will tint his cheeks.

26) Who kissed first? Can’t remember because I’m blanking. We’re gonna say Winter kissed Jacin first.

27) Who orders take out at two in a morning? and who wakes the other up at three in the morning to go downstairs with them to get a glass of water because it’s too dark? Neither of them. Winter will ask Jacin to come down with her mostly because her visions still haunt her even though she doesn’t get them any more. Jacin never hesitates to come with her, holding her hand the whole time to reassure her.

28) Who writes poems/stories and love songs about the other? Do they sing the songs the write for them? Neither of them does this. But I do think Winter will constantly tell Jacin how much she loves them with a lot of flowery language.

29) Who does some crazy stunt to try and impress the other and who ends up driving them to the emergency room after it backfires? Winter. Jacin doesn’t know how she managed to sprain her wrist doing that, but he’s glad he’s a doctor and has a brace laying around.

30) Who is embarrassed when they have to wear their glasses and who thinks they look super cute? Neither once again. I don’t think either ever needs to get glasses either.

Maybe it's just me, but a reptile/amphibian exhibit seems more suited to a zoo than an aquarium. Making matters worse is the fact that The Case of Bugs’s Zebra establishes that Idaville has a zoo.

Now I'm imagining a case where someone steals a $300 ferret from a pet store, and is given away when he claims to be an expert on "ferrets and other rodents."

The Case of the Banana Burglar:

I wonder if Bugs willingly signed up for Art in the Park out of a genuine interest in art, if he signed up to make trouble, or if his parents made him sign up.

I love Bugs' chutzpah here with his "All I've eaten today is a lousy banana" remark. ^_^

Uh, Sobol, you do know that jewelers presumably know how to use Roman numerals correctly when not making watches, right? After all, even watches with IIII in place of IV don’t have VIIII in place of IX.

In addition to watches, tower clocks also usually use IIII instead of IV. Just thought I'd mention it.

Interesting how both teams have alliterative names. I hope that Idaville is only the "Indians" because Sobol couldn't think of anything else that started with I.

That being said, I'd probably be rooting for the Porpoises, if only because I like dolphins.

On a related note, is there really any difference between a porpoise and a dolphin?

If I were an umpire, I wouldn't want to be polite to a crowd that were being total assbutts to me. But that's probably why I'm not an umpire.

The Case of the Calculating Kid:

It really doesn't seem to me that Encyclopedia and Sally randomly ducked into the convention center, but that they knew that the boat and fishing show had set up there and decided to go there to beat the heat.

"Yacht" is a funny word. Sorry, just had to bring it up.

Shells and More Shells isn't just a "company that sold seashells". For one thing, they aren't a company, but just a booth, and they also sell shell-decorated objects. That being said, the name does sound kind of fakey, so I would be suspicious of them, although not for the reasons that @brownencyclopedia is.

Amazing Grace is kind of a stupid name for a yacht, IMHO. What's worse is that Sobol had come up with at least two cooler yacht names - Coral Reef (The Case of the Pirated Yacht) and Defiance (The Case of the Blond Wig) - before this.

"These are" Mr. and Mrs. Hinton, not "This is," dammit! And Chief Brown is supposed to be smart?

What kind of tricks can you play with a calculator?

Lucky that Kent was able to recognize the face of the Shells and More Shells guy. I probably wouldn't be able to, not would I have had the presence of mind to enter "577345" into my calculator to finger my kidnapper. So I like this kid!

Seriously, though, "Shells and More Shells" sounds only slightly more believable than "Alkali Products Incorporated" from The Great Brain Reforms.

I’m sorry, but Gwendolyn doesn’t seem any different from Winslow Brant. Why is it wrong for her to do basically the same thing as him? Is it because Winslow is Encyclopedia’s friend, or because Gwendolyn is a teenager?

It should be Harry S Truman, without the period, because his middle name was just the letter S.

Snowed In

Part Two

From his seat at his breakfast bar, Luke starred at his closed bedroom door, knowing she was on the other side.  He knew that he should just settle in on the couch and get some sleep, but his mind wasn’t ready to shut down just yet as he went over everything that had happened tonight.

He’d been getting ready to head out to mass when his phone rang.  At almost midnight on Christmas Eve, he didn’t even look at the display on his phone, assuming it was his mother making sure that he was going to church.

“I’m walking out the door in five minutes.”  He said in way of answering the call.

“Oh thank god.”  A familiar voice that wasn’t his mother’s replied, “She called you.”

“JJ?” He asked confused.  He pulled the phone from his ear to glance at the display to make sure he’d properly identified the voice.

“Yes.”  JJ paused as she absorbed his confusion.  “She did call you, didn’t she?  You’re on your way to get her?”

“I was on my way out to church, JJ.  What are you talking about?”  Luke asked, trying to figure out what was going on.

“Garcia.”  JJ said and he could hear the panic in her voice.  “She needs a place to stay.  The power is out at her place and with the temps dropping there – it’s not safe.  She’s going to freeze.  I would have her stay with me, but Will & I decided at the last minute to go to Florida.  I talked to her when we landed a few hours ago, but I haven’t been able to get her back since then.”

His heart was racing at the thought of her in trouble.  “I’ll take care of her JJ.”  Luke assured her.

“Thanks Luke.  I’m grateful.  She probably won’t say it, but she’ll be grateful too.”

“Grateful enough to stop calling me ‘newbie’?” He half-joked.

“I wouldn’t bet on it.”  JJ laughed before thanking him again.

As soon as he hung up, he pressed the speed dial on his phone to call her, but got an automated message that the lines were busy.  He tried two more times before grabbing his keys and heading out to his truck.

He hadn’t realized how bad the snow had gotten and was thankful that his truck had all wheel drive.  It took longer than he’d thought it should have to drive to her place – and he didn’t see a single other vehicle out the whole way.

He pulled into her drive behind her tiny car that was buried in the drifting snow.  He cut the engine and got out of the car and the air hit him.  Pulling his jacket a little tighter, he took a quick glance up and down the street before leaning into the car and putting the key back into the ignition and cranking it back on.  He reached past the steering column and put the heat on full blast.

He then made his way to the front door of her building.  Out of habit, he reached up to buzz in, realizing as he hit the button that it would be obsolete without power.  Instead, he opened his wallet and took out a small file and quickly picked the lock to let himself into the building.

Once inside, he bound up the stairs and found her door.  He rapped quietly at first but heard nothing inside.  He shivered and knocked a little more forcefully, calling her name as well.  And still nothing.  He pulled his phone out to try to call her again, but the call still wouldn’t go through.  As the minutes passed, he started pounding on the door – pausing to listen for movement inside – and then pounding again.

He was about to pick the lock to her apartment as well, when he finally heard her voice from within.

She sounded sleepy and it took her a few minutes to get to the door.  That gave him time to compose himself.  He hadn’t realized how worried he’d really been about her until he heard her voice and relief flooded his body.  By the time she opened the door, he’d taken a stance leaning against the doorframe and did his best to put a smile on his face and act casual – like it was the most normal thing in the world for him to show up at her door at 1 am.

“What?  How?”  She look at him, a flash of confusion passes over her features before they both say, “JJ”.

He steps past her and enters the apartment.

“What are you doing here?”  She asks and he can hear the spite in her voice.  “I’m fine.”  She says emphatically.

He turns to face her and looks her up and down.  “Yeah, you look fine.”  She looks ridiculous.  Beautiful – but ridiculous.  Still wearing the heels and the dress she had on at the office earlier, she has added at least two hats, several blankets are wrapped around her, one mitten on, the other in her hand, and so many scarves that her can’t help himself from reaching out to try to count them.  “You’re wearing like six scarves Garcia.” He teases, easily falling into the banter they always seem to have.

“Hey!”  She grabs his hand before he can touch even one of the scarves, pushing him away.  

Her hand is like ice and he no longer wants to tease her about her attire.  “Whoa!”  He wants to pull her into his arms and warms her up, but knows better.  Instead her just stares at her and says, soberly, “You’re really cold.”

“I’m fine.” She repeats, sticking her chin out with bravado and all he can think about his how much he loves her spirit and how nuts she is if she actually thinks he’s going to let her stay in this ice box.

“Chica?”  He says softly, waiting to speak until she raises her face to look at him.  “We can do this the easy way or the hard way.  You can protest if you want, but I can’t let you stay here tonight.  It’ll be easier and quicker if you just pack some things and we go, but if you want to argue about it, I’ll wait.  Either way, I’m not leaving this apartment without you.”  He reaches up and cups her cheek in his hand, “For once, will you just do it the easy way?”

She presses her cheek into his hand for just a moment and his heart soars for a split second.  And then she crushes him.  “It’s not that bad.  Sergio and I were doing just fine before you barged in.” She spits back.

He looks at her with disbelief to find her glaring at him.  “Barged in?” He says more to himself than to her, pulling his had from her face and raking it through his hair, he had to wonder if he’d been wrong about this.  Despite all the teasing, he thought they had a connection.  He though she liked him.  He knew he liked her.  He realizes that he’s actually saying all of this aloud, but in Spanish thankfully. He swallows hard and looks back at her.  “I guess we’re going to do this the hard way.” ��

He spots a big canvas bag in her kitchen and crosses the room to grab it.  He takes a quick stock of the moonlit apartment and his eyes fall on the door that must lead to her room.  He pushed through the door.  She’s following behind him still arguing, but he’s tuned her out and is focused on his mission, which is to get her out of here and to get both of them into the warm car and then to his house.  He was tired.  He was cold.  And he was sick of these games.  

He’d had plenty of fantasies about the two of them alone in the dark in her bedroom – or his – but this wasn’t in any of them.  

He pulled open drawers and randomly threw some of her things into the bag.  Moving into her bathroom, he does the same.  He knows that he’s talking, but it’s a rant and he’d not even sure what he’s saying.  He turns the faucet on before he leaves the bathroom and then heads to the kitchen to do the same, pushing the bag into her arms before he does.

He’s about to cross back to her when he sees her cat – in a Christmas sweater because of course her cat not only has, but actually wears, things like this.  In one fluid motion, he leans down and picks up the cat and walks straight to her apartment door and opens it.  “You’re packed, the water is running so your pipes don’t freeze, and I have your cat.  Let’s go.”  He nods towards the hallway.

She looks shell-shocked. “You’re mad.”  She says softly.  “Like…you’re really mad.”  He knows if he lets his guard down right now, it’ll take that much longer until her gets her to some warmth, so he just glares at her until finally, she takes a few steps towards him – stopping to put on a coat and hat – and then walks out into the hall and all the way to the truck.

The manners that his mama drilled into him are so ingrained that he finds himself opening the door for her and offering his hand before he has a chance to think about it.  She grips his hand and gets in the truck without argument or any sass.  He pulls the bag from her arms and gives her the cat before closing the door.

After throwing her bag in the back seat, he walks around the back of the truck.   As soon as he gets behind the tailgate –out of her line of sight – he stops and leans forward, hands on his knees, and lets out the breath he’d been holding in ever since JJ told him she needed help.  He let the relief wash over him for a moment knowing that she was safe – and warming up – inside his truck.  He stood and pressed a hand to his temple as the relief turned to regret.  He’d spent the past year and a half admiring this beautiful woman – going toe-to-toe with her round after round as she hassled him.  He’d always believed it would lead to something more – something real.  But tonight he realized that all might have been one-sided.  That banter he thought was flirtation was really just her dislike for him.  She’d made that crystal clear tonight when she’d chosen to stay and freeze in her apartment rather than call him for help.  After this crisis was over, he knew that he would need to get some distance from her.  He shook his head to clear his thoughts and then continued around to the driver’s side.

Once they were both buckled in, the navigated the snowy roads back to his house.  He hit one patch of ice and reached over to brace her – his hand landing on her knee.  She didn’t move – didn’t push him away – and when he glanced over at her, her eyes were trained straight ahead and she wouldn’t even look at him.  And he knew that they were over before they ever began.

As they enter his house, Roxie run excitedly to greet them and he hears her cat hiss.  “Sit.”  He says firmly to the dog and she stops dead in her tracks and does as she’s told.

For a moment it seems they’re all frozen.  Now that they’re here, he’s not sure what to say or how to act.  She hasn’t moved either, so he finally turns to look at her.  This time, he finds her looking at him – her eyes searching for his.  When their eyes meet, she hold his gaze and says quietly, “Thank you Luke.”

Luke.  She said his name. He can feel the hope already swelling back up, but he needs to keep it at bay. “It’s about damn time woman.” He says sharply, trying to hide his elation.  “You were starting to make me think you’re more trouble than you’re worth.”

“I am worth more than you’ll ever know, Newbie.”  She shoots back and he can’t stay angry.  After the way she just said his name, he knows he was wrong before.  They are building something.  And he wants to see where this can go.

He realizes that he’s been silent too long.  He can’t help the smile from forming as he leans in towards her and says, “Challenge accepted.”  

She smiles back at him and for a moment.  And then she shakes her head and backs off. “I – uh.  It’s late.  Sleep.”  She stammers.

He rocks back on his heels, out of her space. He nods towards the bedroom door, “Take my room.”

She looks to the door and then back to him and then back to the door.  “No, I can’t.  I can take the couch.”

“Penelope.”  He says softly.  “Take the bed.  Roxie & I will stay out here.” She nods and picks up the bag of her things and quickly disappears into his bedroom, the door closing behind her.

Penelope awoke the next morning disoriented.  Before she opened her eyes, she knew she wasn’t in her bed.  This bed was much more firm than hers, and the pillow under her cheek was memory foam.  Eyes still closed, she listened to see if sound would help identify her locale.  And then she heard the low snore and realized there was heat pressed up against her back.  She froze and then the previous evening came back to her.  Luke.

Oh jeez.  What had they done?  She remembered the way he looked at her and the way she’d responded, leaning in for a moment.  She remembered him telling her to take his room instead of the couch.  She protested once, but when he insisted, she accepted.  Once alone in his room, she remembered rummaging through the yellow bag to see that Luke had randomly grabbed almost nothing useful.  She didn’t expect to find anything matching, but there wasn’t even a t-shirt for her to sleep in, so she helped herself to his closet and pulled one of his over her head.  She’d found her toothbrush and a comb, but no make-up remover, or make-up for that matter.  None of her fancy face wash either.  Instead, she remembered washing her face in his bathroom using his soap, looking at herself in his mirror.  

Moving slowly as to not wake the man pressed against her, she pulled her arm out from under the covers and pulled them away from herself to look down.  She exhaled a sigh of relief to see that she was still fully clothed. Maybe he’d gotten up in the middle of the night and ended up back in his own bed out of habit – forgetting the she was there.

She slowly turned her head to peer at him over her shoulder.  “Oh god!”  She said and her whole body shook with laughter when she saw that it was Roxie pressed against her.  Stretching her arms above her head, she sat up and then pivoted her legs over the side to stand.  Once standing, she laughed even harder to see that Roxie was spooning Sergio.  Both asleep, both content.

After washing her face using his soap, brushing her teeth, and running a comb through her hair, she exited his bedroom and padded her way through his house.  She could smell the coffee, so she knew that he was awake somewhere.  She found him sitting on the loveseat in the living room, reading a book.

“Good morning.”  She said and he looked up at her and smiled.

“Afternoon is more like it.” He said casually, turning back to his book.

“Afternoon?”  She scanned the room and found a grandfather clock in one of the corners that indicated that it was 1:30.  “I never do this.” She tried to clarify.

“Chica,” He says with exasperation as he puts his bookmark in the book and closes it, “it was after one when I got to your place last night.  You were exhausted and needed your sleep.  We’re snowed in, so I let you sleep.”  He paused as he remembered the sight of her in his bed, her hair flared out across his pillow when he’d gone to get Roxie for a walk several hours earlier.  “You didn’t even wake up when your phone rang.  It was JJ, by the way, and I assured her that you hadn’t frozen to death at your apartment last night.”  He smiled, “Merry Christmas, by the way.”

“Wait?  What?”  She absorbed what he’d just said.

“Merry Christmas?”  He looked confused.  “Hanukah?”  He asked, looking for clarity.

“No, Christmas.  Definitely Christmas.”  She confirmed, then started again, “Did you say we’re snowed in?  And you answered my phone?”

He gestured towards the window and she turned her attention to the breathtaking view.  The entire world sparkled and snow covered everything she could see.  Now that she was warm – she could again appreciate the beauty. “We got another three feet overnight.”  He explained.  “They’re working on the main roads now, but we’re not going anywhere anytime soon.  And I didn’t answer your phone – I wouldn’t do that.  She called me right after she called you.”  Standing, he gestured towards the kitchen.  “Do you want something to eat?  Some coffee maybe?”

She nodded, the mere mention of food making her stomach growl and she realized she was famished.  He started towards the kitchen and she followed.  He opened a cabinet and pulled out a mug and then filled it with the already brewed coffee.  He turned to hand it to her and did a quick double take. “What?”  She asked defensively as she felt his eyes sweep up and down her body.

“Nothing.”  He shook his head.  “I’ve just never seen you without – “

“Make-up?  I know!  But you didn’t pack any of mine when you were stuffing things into that bag.  Do you know that I don’t have one single matching outfit to wear?  And no soap!  I had to wash my face with your soap. And – “ He silenced her with a finger against her mouth.

“Shoes.”  He finished, an amused twinkle in his eye as he pulled his hand back to his side.  “I’ve never seen you without shoes on.  I didn’t realize you were so short.”

“Oh.”  She said humbly, turning away from him.  Then, under her breath, she mumbled, “You probably didn’t even notice the no make-up or the fact that I’m wearing your shirt.”

“Penelope,” She turned as he said her name.  He handed the mug to her, but didn’t let go when her hands curled around its warmth, their fingers brushing together.  “I notice everything about you.”

His finger was moving slowly, caressing hers on the mug they held between them.  He leaned in a little closer.  She mirrored him.  He tilted his head a little and she followed suit.  She could feel his breath on her face as she closed her eyes – and then his phone rang and he pulled away.

He sighed and looked at his phone, “I’m sorry.”  He held the phone up so she could see ‘Mama’ on the display.  “I have to take this.”  He hit the button to answer the call and held the phone up to his ear, “Mama!  Feliz navidad!” He said and he walked towards the living room.

She didn’t follow.  Instead, she busied herself with finding something to eat.  She has expected to find nothing but some microwave dinners and beer in his fridge, but instead found it stocked with meats, fruits, and vegetables.  His pantry was also well-stocked and she realized that he was probably a much better cook that she.  Rather than embarrass herself trying to utilize all the hearty and wholesome ingredients she’d found, she made and devoured one of her specialties, PB&J.

She was just rinsing off the plate she’d used when he came back into the kitchen.  “Sorry about that.  My mama, she worries.” He rolled his eyes.

“That must be nice.”  She observed with longing.  “I lost my parents when I was 14.  I’d give anything to hear my mom’s voice – even nagging me – one more time.”

“I remember you said that ‘Garcia’ was from the family that took you in.  I’m sorry.”  He said soberly.

She shook her head, blinking back tears, “It’s OK really.”

“Hey,” He said softly, reaching out to cup her cheek with his hand, wiping away one lone tear with his thumb. “It’s OK to not be OK all the time.  I meant what I said all those months ago…If I ever become the someone you want to go when you’re crying, I’m here.”  He gazed down at her, watching her lips tremble, watching her trying not to break.  And he saw the shift when she let go.  She let out a huge breath and then the tears fell and she leaned into him and wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face in his chest.  And he just held her until her tears ran dry.

hc; velka + occult rebellion

So, this is what I’m running with. @ligetraesc had some input here (ask about his messed up face). It’s no less thought out than That One Wiki Thread, and far simpler if you ask me. It also explains Gwynevere’s absence and how Velka justified taking up against her own kind despite being a goddess of sin and absolution; therefore, balance.

Okay, so. First off, the general consensus seems to be “Velka is a powerhungry mf who randomly took up arms against her own kind and Havel was involved somehow and yeah it was totally her fault!111 That’s why Gwyn hates her!!11 Something something Seath…!”

Well… where does it say that, exactly? In game, all I can find is allusions to a “rebellion against the gods”, not against Gwyn specifically. Out of the game is another matter, there’s all kinds of crazy ideas strung together by people who don’t understand thatMiyazaki didn’t want us to know everything so that we would add our own depth.* I’m gonna add to the mad ideas pile right here. Things not covered include outside factors like Priscilla and Seath. Occult presence in the Painted World could be there for any number of reasons, but for the purposes of this post, it doesn’t matter - shit happens during wars. The time around where Gwyn left, Solaire was thrown out of Anor Londo and the curse began to permeate everything is so squashed up in my mind, and it makes sense that it would be. If Gwyn left, of course the shit would hit the fan all over the place. With Gwyn gone, Anor Londo is basically a free for all. If you’re of the school of thought that Solaire is the Firstborn, then regardless of whether or not he was still there, he was not a ruler anyone could have faith in, as demonstrated by his loss of a whole bunch of history, his own god status and his dad’s Van Halen mixtape. Gwyndolin is probably the best equipped to rule in his place, but never will for a host of reasons I’m sure I don’t need to go over. That leaves Gwynevere. Now, let’s talk about Flann. Who the hell is Flann? A flame-god, so potentially a relation of Gwyn - though not a close one. He’s all fire where Gwyn and his family are light, to paraphrase ligetraesc; all the destruction and none of the nurturing or moderation. A cousin, maybe? A nephew? Distant enough to marry Gwynevere, and close enough to have a claim to Gwyn’s throne, perhaps…?

Hmmm. Now we’re cooking. Let’s assume this is the case, and that Flann had his eyes on the prize from day one. What’s going to happen as soon as Gwyn leaves? He’s going to start gathering support for his claim over Solaire’s. Solaire, providing he’s still there at all at this point, would be known as rash and thoughtless. I really doubt all that loss of the annals business (literal or not) came as a shock to anyone, however tragic it was. It’s more likely that he was gone by then, though. I do not put any stock into the Sunlight Bladedescription, as Gwyn’s tomb is an empty placeholder that could have been built anytime; we all know Gwyn isn’t inside. It’s a mark of respect, is all, and its carving likely would have started long before Gwyn left, so that he would have the peace of mind in knowing that it was done and so that he could see the final product, his “official” resting place before he left - Solaire could have returned to leave the spell as a tribute to his father at any point.

Anyway. If Flann can paint himself as a good replacement for Gwyn, he will gain the support he needs from all over the human and lord regions. He could easily engage himself to Gwynevere, solidfy his position and move in for the throne. It’s worth noting that I believe Lordran to be pretty rigid in its gender roles on the whole, so Gwynevere would have had trouble being taken seriously as a lone Queen in a world full of Lords and Kings; so it’s somewhat to her benefit as well. At least this way she has Flann’s armies from his overseas homeland to back her up if someone wants to step to her. So, Flann is now in Anor Londo using Gwyn’s toothbrush. Enter Havel. Havel, aka Havel “The Rock” Johnson, is pissed. He was one of Gwyn’s closest friends and cannot stomach the thought of some puffed up little candle-flame trying to take his place over Gwyn’s own children. Incensed enough to turn to the occult for help in getting rid of this little shitlord, he approaches Velka. Velka has her own interests in this situation; namely that Gwyn’s family are her family to a certain extent, and whilst she understands that Gwynevere needs support, it cannot be denied that Flann has taken her crown from her. Now, I don’t see him requesting absolution, do you? Velka has been watching this with total disgust. Flann has discreetly committed treason by disrupting the line of succession and stolen her friends’ birthright**. She agrees to help Havel and his peasant uprising with the occult magic she wields, turning a human mess into an occult army. Flann may be a flame god, but he still has Gwyn’s remaining army around him, meaning he still wields lightning spells even if he can’t personally use them (which is all speculation). For example, we know the Dragonslayer and his electrified spear remained long after these events. I imagine he would have aligned himself with Gwynevere regardless of Flann’s presence, as he was one of Gwyn’s Four Knights, and his duty is whatever Gwyn would want. Meanwhile, the humans need to defend against him and his like; cue the Effigy Shield (which also contains a nice little snippet about the occult side going for Nito and failing). So, what happened?! Everyone lost, that’s what happened. The curse spread while this war went on; people were going hollow and being dragged away, adding another cause of death to the list for Havel and Velka’s army. Flann, though he’d have a reduced number as Gwyn’s loyalists abandoned him for the dark side, still had Lordsoul holders while all Velka and Havel had were numbers and anger. Havel was a skilled enough man to grab Gwyn’s attention, but Velka is not a general, and Havel cannot coordinate a war against gods on his own. When he hollows and is locked in the Tower, Velka is at a total loss. It’s no surprise that they lost. But, they made their mark on Flann before they did and sent him running back home with his new bride - still king in name, but with Anor Londo an empty shell, its people cursed and its halls empty, does it really matter anymore? Velka flees with most of her covenant behind her, never to be seen again (possibly until DS3). Gwyndolin is left babysitting a city he never wanted with the ghost of his sister and her insane guards, and maybe Velka won after all; because, while people talked of her ambition and her desire to rule as if it were a given, her final aim was to put Gwyndolin where his father was before and settle Flann’s debts (and soothe her itching soul) by erasing his crimes.

So, that’s about it, I guess! I might tweak this post if I think of more to add, but I want to keep it as simple as possible. I’ve got cotton wool brain today, so feel free to throw stuff at my inbox - there are definitely details I’ve thought of that didn’t make it into this post, but I can’t recall all of them.

I went for the repair estimate to the agent #1, he was ready to write a check for $1500, but I was wondering how much they would pay if they totaled the car, in a couple of days I got a phone call and the agent#2 said that the vehicle is gonna be a total loss and said they would pay $2300 and take the car. I decided to just take the $1500. Agents #1 and #2 directed me to an agent #3, I explained the whole situation to him and he said he would issue $1800 if I want to keep the car BUT I would have to get a salvage title for the vehicle first due to the state law. The state law requires a person to get a salvage title if the repair cost is 75% or more of the vehicle total value. I do not want to get a salvage title for the vehicle and I told him that the original estimate given by the agent #1 was $1500, not $1800 which is less than 75%, to which he responded I believe we still had some items open when you got that estimate . he will check it and call me back. 1. Can I just lower the estimate to original $1500 so I would not have to get a salvage title for the car? Any law that allows me to lower it? 2. Will the insurance company receive any benefit if they pay me more money but I will have to salvage the car? Why do they wanna do it?""

I got in an accident that I am not in fault. Basically I was stopped at the intersection behind the red lights. A car from opposite side ran the red light hit the crossing car and the second car spin and hit my car.
