You know Junhyeon talks a lot. Maybe a little too much sometimes. The words just flow out until some of them end up tangled in others, switching places, creating completely new meanings. You know this because that’s how he confessed to you.

“I know me really like you, will I go out with you?”

You stare for a second. Then, you laugh.

“Well, I hope you will.”

It takes him about a minute of celebrating before he realises exactly what he had said.

Everyone you told was amazed that you understood him so fast.

After the finale, he’s the quietest you’ve ever seen him. Sure, he’s smiling, handing out his enthusiastic congratulations to the debut members, greeting the other trainees. But as soon as the cameras are off and he joins you backstage, Junhyeon shuts off.

It isn’t the good kind of silence either. More like something uncomfortable is buried underneath his skin, emanating from him in an oddly dark dejected way. He moves mechanically, following behind as you unlock the door. It’s late and he just sits there. You sit with him.

“How are you feeling?” You venture tentatively, a little unsure of how to navigate around this Junhyeon. You’ve seen him angry, sad, tired, deliriously happy and downright silly but this seemed like something else entirely.

“I dunno, just tired I guess.”

“You’ve worked hard. You should rest.”

He laughs humorlessly.

“That’s what all of them told me. You’ve worked hard, Junhyeon-ah. You’lll get there, Junhyeon-ah. You did your best. Is this my best? Okay, maybe with my rank, I shouldn’t expect anything but I was close. I could’ve made it. But I didn’t, and I should have expected that but-”

He’s breathing so hard that you’re a little worried.

“They told me to prepare myself. Hoetaek-hyung, Jongwoo-hyung, even Kamden-hyung and Seungeonie were ready for it. So how come I wasn’t, huh? How could I even expect to-”

“Hyeoni, I-”

“No. You don’t get it. Just, just don’t say anything.” 

His voice is quiet and fierce and ice cold and he’s never spoken to you that way. And it hurt, honestly, it did.

Of course, you didn’t get it. You were just another member of the audience, looking at what was happening from the outside. Maybe dating Junhyeon gave you a little more to work with than an average person but you still watched through the screen as they edited these boys down into characters and fit them into specific shelves for applause. You watched. Junhyeon lived that.

So no, you really didn’t get it. But he didn’t have to say it that way. He’s upset, angry, sad, frightfully so because he put months of work into this program and while not everyone got to stand in the spotlight in the end, he’s told you how addicting it is once you get a taste.

You don’t say anything. You get up and go take a shower. Maybe you let a few tears flow while the water’s running, to soothe the sharp ache in your chest. The shower goes until your skin is pink from the heat and tender to touch. You get dressed, do your skincare, dry your hair and go to bed, resisting the urge to check on your boyfriend again.

Junhyeon slips in beside you when you’re dozing off, hair haphazardly dried, skin as pink as yours.

“I’m sorry.” He murmurs. “I shouldn’t have said those things.”

“You weren’t wrong,” you whisper back.

“I still shouldn’t have said it that way.” he tells you. “I was frustrated and mad at myself and I took it out on you.”

“It’s fine, I think. Just let me know if you’re feeling like that and you want to talk and you just want me to listen.”

“Okay.” He agrees. “I’m sorry again.”

You open your arms and he slips between them, letting you hold him.

“It will be fine.” He says both to you and to himself. “The company said they’ve got plans for us too if we don't make it.”

“That’s the spirit.”

Your eyes are so heavy, all too soothed by the smell of his shampoo and how warm he is.

“I get the whole week off, I think. We should do something tomorrow.”

“Okay, Hyeoni.”

He gives you a quick kiss before relaxing into the sheets.

“Goodnight.”

“Goodnight Hyeoni”

“Dream of me~”

The others can see the ghosts, yes! The way I like to imagine it is that our sillies have two options of visibility; fully visible or completely imperceivable. When visible everybody and every living thing can see/interact with them, while imperceivable gives the ghosts the ability to interact with things (and be interacted with, but that only by being bumped into a you cannot go through spirits in this) but they cannot be seen by anybody— including one another, which makes for some interesting situations.

Mark usually stays invisible, while Cesar likes to show themself. [I’ll only draw them the second way for needed portrayals of invisibility]

Commonly, they only show themselves around Jonah and Adam for the first while after the two tethered to the teens, more or less for the sake of comfort— even if both of them itched to talk to Sarah when the BPS boys ended up crashing at her place. It was really hard for Mark to stop himself from going visible to interact with her, too afraid that she’d be upset with him for never coming around in the 16 years he’s been a ghost.

Sarah ends up learning about them when she bursts into the guest room to ask Adam and Jonah a question, and the ghosts are standing there with them. Lots of tears and hugs though! Little family reunion

Mark does get to see Dave again; Unlike with Sarah, he genuinely can’t stop himself from going visible when he first sees him again because man, he thought he was dead [Alt!Cesar told him he was, and it’s hard not to believe the guy who killed you, your best friend, and almost your other friend.]

Hi! how are you? i just wanted to ask a silly question. Could W&K (once they are the Monarchs, in a long long future), make BP their official residence but live in let's say Sandringham House or Windsor Castle for the most part of the year? And if a Monarch wanted, could they move the court (i think thats how its called) to another place?

Hello :) The Queen already does that to an extent. BP is where her official diplomatic duties have generally taken place but she spends weekends and breaks at Windsor, Christmas at Sandringham and the summer in Balmoral. And reportedly the Queen will base herself even more at Windsor now and only go to BP when necessary. Historically most monarchs didn’t live in BP because it didn’t exist or because they preferred to live elsewhere - like Queen Victoria. So they would be fine to go away on holidays to the other homes or spend weekends somewhere else. In recent decades BP has been the primary base because it’s just set up for royal ceremonies. You can’t really have a giant state banquet like we have now anywhere else just in terms of capacity - both for guests and staff - and it’s well located for events that have a public element like Trooping. Events like that couldn’t easily take place anywhere else either because there’s not a place for the public to congregate and see what’s going on or because the property isn’t well located for transport if it’s out of London. So for most monarchs it’s easier to live at least part of the time in BP but they maintain other homes that they can go to. And although BP is actually fairly new in royal terms, it has become so bound up with what people think of when they think of the monarchy. It’s where people congregated after the war ended and shouted to see the king and Queen. It’s where people have seen royals have their first kiss as married couples. It’s where newly crowned monarchs have gone to greet their people. It’s just so intimately linked with the image of monarchy today that I think it will probably always be the centre of royal life, even if the monarch doesn’t actually reside there.

The court thing is a fairly ambiguous term. Key staff members can and do travel and work in other properties but it would depend on what they do, basically. But interestingly St James’s Palace is actually still the official base of the court, if you will. When an ambassador is appointed they officially present their credentials to the court of St James’s. It's also where they meet to officially declare the new monarch. So even though we all think of BP as the main base because the monarch lives there when in London and it’s where everything happens, technically it’s not where the court is based.

OKAY SO it's silly. it's so silly. the very very basic premise for this one had been sitting in my google docs for four years. since senior year of high school, bestie!!!! FOUR YEARS!!!! i'm almost done w college that's how long the basic premise has been sitting there!!

here. i can provide a screenshot of exactly what it looked like in my notes. it was a google doc full of things i could use as potential fic titles or chapter titles bc i STRUGGLE with titles so it was handy to have some notes for that. the edit history on this bitch goes back to december 17, 2017, aka peak of the voltron fandom

and so you can very much tell that this was in the era when everyone thought lance should have been the black paladin, and also that time when everyone knew kuron was a clone from like the minute he entered season 3 but they dragged the plot out for three and a half seasons. ANYWAY

like many other people, 2020 sent me spiraling back into klance because quarantine truly was the time when people just went back into old hyperfixations. like i was still actively writing and interested in klance, but hoooo the panini brought the brainrot back in full force, and so i wanted to write angst. it had been a long time since i wrote angst. and i wanted a long-term project that wasn't the fix-it fic and also wasn't a modern au. i wanted the paladinsverse dammit. and then lo and behold i found this in my notes and went "oh. i can use this"

i ended up scrapping the kuron thing mostly because i missed shiro and i was sick of the little clone bitch, and also my feelings on BP lance have gotten more complicated, and ALSO i wrote the original premise when no one had any idea who the fuck adam was, and ALSO i've gotten way into the broganes dynamic, and so with the Glasses Of Hindsight on the plot became: shiro and keith having to survive together, keith and lance secret relationship, adam joins the castleship crew

i still chose "at skyfall" bc black lion guardian spirit of the sky and blah blah blah, but the focus is a little less on the whole "black paladins" thing and more on like, the team's bonds as a whole. and also i'm a sucker for devotion, be it platonic romantic familial whatever, so jot that the fuck down. really i just want more hurt/comfort. more "how far would you go to protect the ones you love." more "what would you sacrifice to keep them safe." and so during the past few nanowrimos i just began. writing chapters. and yelling about them. and now i'm six chapters deep and proud of the way it's coming along

it's kinda obvious to me if u watch any bp interview that those girlies have no idea what they are and aren't allowed to say and tiptoe around every question they're asked bc they don't want to get in trouble w their managers, so whoever put rosie on the spot is soooo wrong for that lmaooo, like u know damn well she's not allowed to answer that, why'd they set her up like that 😭😭😭😭

tbh i don’t think the fan had ill intentions or wanted to set her up (i mean they likely didn’t think she’d hear lol) but yeah i think people who are trying to imply that she doesn’t support or other negative things clearly don’t know anything about bp bcs the girls are not even allowed to straightforwardly answer questions about their careers, let alone something like that ……. and i mean i think doubting rosie’s support is very silly bcs she has never shown anything other than support :/
