#other countries have taken on to associate it with its own version of cottagecore
Text
i think my problem with people who lean real hard into trying to make colonialism an associated topic regarding “cottagecore” because cottagecore itself is about the romanticism of nature and the idea of self sufficiency and life styles that are largely more associated with blue collar working classes (farmers and other hard labor jobs)
like, yeah sure you can talk about how western european countries have been colonialist, but if you talk long enough about it, associating global politics with an “aesthetic core” is so unrelated and such a hard reach, especially since that “aesthetic core” doesnt even glamorize as much as it appreciates the beauty in the inherent quality of ones surroundings, and any glamorizing that is done is by individuals, you will 100% have me asking you what kind of concrete association it has with an admiration for an aesthetic by the end of it
like.. sorry for seeing the beauty in my surroundings and finding appreciation in places that arent car centric, concrete parking lot, soulless consumerist aesthetics that rob my life of beauty that would otherwise improve my quality of life
