So in shocking F1 news this week, the teams that have their golden boy raised from a pup, he’s part of the family, he’s our best hope at moulding a champion, are keeping hold of the drivers that they have invested all their time and money in. I mean who saw that coming?
And so what people predicted back in 2016-2017 comes to pass and looks like it’s staying for a while:
Max is Red Bull’s bet
Charles is Ferrari’s
Lando is McLaren’s
George is meant to be Mercedes’ but he will need a better season and car to seem as settled as the others and feel he has a real shot.
The outlier to this is Oscar. He was on no one’s radar when the above was set in motion and Tbf had he stayed with Alpine he would be added to that list now, though I don’t think anyone would be betting on him being competitive. However his mere presence on the grid now probably makes a few people twitchy if their seat is safe.
The reality is I feel sorry for the older drivers who either didn’t see or believe the storm that was coming at them. Only Lewis really got his feet firmly planted before they arrived. And the younger drivers who were following these 5 through the categories, knowing 5 top F1 seats were never going to be available to them.
What annoys me is, I believe Liam Lawson could be in this group and really deserves a proper chance in F1. I worry he’s our next Hulkenberg, all the talent, never the car.

I know this is a long shot but has Cait ever been on an EMMY prediction list? Usually she was on the GG. Amazed that she is here even if not in the top 6.
https://variety.com/lists/2024-emmys-lead-actress-drama-predictions/also-in-contention-2/
Thanks for the message, Anon. 😃
Your link includes Variety’s predictions of nominees in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards. Nominations will be announced on 17 July and the Emmys awarded on 15 September.
Variety included this photo in its story published yesterday, 11 April 2024:
Photo : Robert Wilson for Starz
It’s not a long shot, as you suggest. To date, she’s never been nominated, but predictions lists have included Caitríona’s name every Outlander season. Here are some examples:
The Wrap 2015 / Season 1
E! News 2016 / Season 2
Awards Watch 2018 / Season 3
Spoiler TV 2019 / Season 4
Gold Derby 2020 / Season 5
We Are Actors (Variety) 2022 / Season 6
Variety 2024 / Season 7
Outlander has been nominated four times.

Regarding 2024 Emmys for Drama, Variety has published its predictions lists for Drama Series, Lead Actor, and Lead Actress. The lists for Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Directing, Writing, and Casting are pending. Maybe we’ll see more Outlander representation in those five categories? 🍿
Remember… I'm thinking about naming my first son Emmy so I can say I've got one. I want Emmy, Oscar, and Tony - and my daughter Grammy. — Noah Wyle
😂 According to IMDb, Noah Wyle has two children, sons, and neither is named Emmy. He received five Emmy nominations for playing Dr John Carter on ER.

Do you have any idea who’s the source of Crazy Day and Nights when it comes to royal gossip? Didn’t they admit on a podcast with deuxmoi that they don’t have a royal source, yet continues to post royal related blind items. Isn’t that a bit weird? They basically admitted they don’t have a credible source. Also, do you think their blinds about Harry and Megham are reliable?
Meghan and the Yorkies.
CDAN rarely got royal blinds before 2016/2017. They got them every once in a while, but no one ever paid much attention and they never got a whole lot of traction. It was readily accepted that those came from the Yorks, especially if they targeted the Cambridges or Harry. Blinds that targeted the Yorks were said to come from Epstein connections as warnings to Andrew. (Which on the one hand I'm skeptical of because the BRF has never reacted to blind gossip but on the other hand, this was a time when Andrew was absolutely gunning for his daughters to have/keep official duties so anything that risked making the girls look bad, he would've been all over to fix.)
Then Meghan came onto the scene in 2016 and CDAN started getting a ton of blinds about the royal family, especially about William and Kate. Those were all from her, and I think she was still leaking to CDAN about William and Kate up until 2021. Any of the blinds that attacked Meghan through 2019ish were from the Yorks, but I think they got out of it after Newsnight (which, speaking of Newsnight for a second, did you know they're making a movie out of that whole mess? Michael Sheen is playing Andrew).
I'm not totally sure who is leaking to CDAN now, especially about Meghan. Sometimes I think Meghan leaks shit about herself just to keep people talking about her. There are probably some people in Hollywood that she's pissed off who might be empowered to leak or that CDAN has industry connections, including contacts at WME, that they're hearing things from. But there is also the very real possibility that CDAN is making it up complete - they have admitted to doing that to other celebs.
The Yorkies seem like they've gotten out of that kind of stuff, but it's entirely possible Eugenie might still have connection and she's the one providing info on William and Kate, but even those have largely stopped too so I think she's cut off from the Waleses (or is at least on an information diet).
As for Deuxmoi, I think it's Abigail Spencer leaking on Meghan's behalf when the scoop was something positive. Or at least she was a few years ago, and now it's some poor intern at WME.
I don't think the blinds about Harry and Meghan are reliable. I haven't followed CDAN since before COVID but I'll look at the website after major Hollywood events like the Grammys and the Oscars to read about the after-parties - it seems like most of the blinds these days about the Sussexes are things that everyone can reasonably predict Meghan will do because she's a creature of habit: we know she's going to try and make it seem like she's "in" with Hollywood for the big events and the big parties.

not the same person/ anon but i do agree with their tier ranking thing more. i dont see a lot of difference talent or potential wise between prime charles and prime daniel to put one over the other (if anything i might give daniel the very slightest edge), they are both very much wrong team wrong time. oscar is barely in his second year, difficult to put him any where but I wouldn’t place him above lando so soon. there is an argument to put george in the same slot as daniel and charles but we can’t predict the future. and I don’t think carlos is in the same category as charles and daniel. yep that’s how i would do it i think
On Oscar, he definitely isn’t there yet but I feel like on a raw talent level, with the trajectory he’s on if he continues it, I think that’s where he will land. I think in 3/4 years he will be considered a more complete driver than Lando. But I could be proven wrong.
I don’t think in a raw talent sense that George is up there with Charles. That’s just my take based on what I’ve seen. But that’s subjective.
Maybe I really was not deep enough in the sport in 2016/17/18, I definitely wasn’t reading articles too much and watching qualifying or every single race religiously. But I never got the sense that Daniel was The Talent on the grid. Maybe I got taken in by Lecfosi propaganda, and people just talk about Charles more, but I remember more stand out performances that stick in my memory from Charles than from Daniel.
But hey, different strokes and all that.
But this really has made me want to do some kind of driver ranking poll to see what categories everyone uses, I’m so fascinated

I’m going to rant for a bit so bear with me.
I never really play attention to Oscar predictions (specifically this early) but I keep seeing people talk about Saoirse’s chances for The Outrun and the way they talk about it sounds like they just don’t want her to be nominated. I don’t know that she will because honestly this feels like a weird year where none of the movies seem like sure Oscar contenders (the way films like Oppenheimer, Barbie and KOTFM were) but people are acting like there’s no chance she can get a lone nomination with this while also believing Angelina Jolie is 100% winning (even though people like Kristen lost in a similar situation) and thinking Amy Adams is 100% getting a nomination for Nightbitch which doesn’t look good. I think the chances of Saoirse getting a nomination are low, but the way people are talking about her vs other actresses feels like they just don’t want her there because they point out everything that’s against her and everything that’s for the other actresses without ever pointing out the opposite.
Then there’s the fact that she will most likely be campaigning The Outrun for lead. They’ve gone to so many festivals, she got the silver medallion at Telluride and they’re doing a million Q&As with screenings. You can tell she’s really pushing for it. We also know this movie means a lot to her and she produced it so she probably wants to get a nomination out of it. Most places are predicting she’ll go supporting for Blitz, which makes sense, but when I see people talking about Blitz they’re obsessed with her going lead for that? And saying that she will drop The Outrun and campaign Blitz for lead when I can’t see her doing that? I will also say that a year ago I would’ve believed she had more chances with Blitz, but right now? I’m not so sure.
They keep saying The Outrun has bad reviews but they aren’t any worse than the reviews for most, if not all, the other movies with lead actress contenders. People also bring up the rotten tomatoes score as if movies with lower rotten tomatoes scores don’t get Oscar nominated? It’s wild because I never participate in Oscar predictions but merely from observing who has been nominated I feel like I know more than most of these people making predictions? Like, I do think it will be hard for Saoirse to get nominated given that it is a very small movie, but people are acting like a lone nomination is a crazy thing when it happens like every year? And honestly, she probably deserves a nomination for this more than Paul did for Aftersun. Another small Scottish movie that’s probably a better film, but I don’t believe his performance was better (and I haven’t even seen Saoirse’s performance yet). And all of the other actresses have things going against them too.
It also annoys me that they act like Saoirse is like Florence or Anya or any other actress that age. But Saoirse is a 4 time Oscar nominee that got her first nomination like 15 years ago. They keep treating her like she’s new to all of this instead of putting her with older actresses who have had a career as long as hers.
Last but not least, I HATE that people complain when she chooses roles like Bad Apples or Foe because it means she won’t be getting an Oscar nomination every couple of years like back in 2016-2020, and they say her career is going downhill and things like that. But then they complain about her doing The Outrun and Blitz because apparently she only chooses “Oscar baity” roles?? Which is it?? I will agree that Ammonite was Oscar bait but I don’t think either of these are. I think she wanted to work with Steve McQueen and we know why she did The Outrun.
I kind of want her to go back to making bad movies so these people forget she exists and shut up. Maybe I’m being a cupcake, but what annoys me isn’t people saying she isn’t going to get a nomination (because like I said I do think her chances are low), it’s the way people talk about her vs other actresses. I just also feel like people don’t know what they’re talking about when they talk about her? It’s like when people talk about her doing bad movies now when they’re all better than what she was doing in most of the early 2010s. She had some mid to bad movies between Brooklyn and Lady Bird and then again between Lady Bird and Little Women but people act like she only made Oscar nominated movies and now she’s doing trash. They keep comparing her to actresses her age when she’s been around for so much longer. People should be forced to read her Wikipedia or imdb before they speak about her.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, I apologize for any typos because I did not proof read this and I need a gun 🙃
fair enough lol. This is very long but you’re right. I might have more ideas on this later but you’ve said it all quite well and - again because we’ve been talking food and anon inspired me - I’m making soup lol.

This isn’t really Sophie-related, but I feel like some things are happening with LV. First of all they haven’t had a table at the Met for the second time in a row, minimal number of ambassadors attended but not wearing LV. That’s weird isn’t it? Considering it’s such a big fashion house. Not to mention them getting Z*ndaya to sign on as ambassador but that contract is just not playing out in LV’s favour at all. She has barely worn LV since, i think she wore it like max 3 times during the entire Dune 2 and Challengers press tours together. She attended one show right after the announcement and that’s it, she didn’t even wear LV to the Met Gala or on her Vogue covers. That’s basically money down the drain for the brand. Now, i’m not dragging Z because lord knows i don’t like the majority of LV’s clothes, but damn. Also Emma Stone keeps getting read for her LV looks, especially her Oscars dress that fell apart on stage. This is all horrible publicity for LV. Not to mention they keep signing the hottest new actors/singers every year which is a lottt of money but it never really works in anyone’s favour - the more people they dress they get dragged by more fans for their looks. I’m predicting that Ghesquire is not staying for long. He just did 10 years and his collections just keep getting more absurd. Sophie’s IG post after the PFW show also reads very sentimental, which could be just because she’s been with LV for so long and it was a big anniversary, but i’ve beeen thinking her contract might be up. Her personal style is also seems to be changing to a more refined one. I’m hoping she parts ways with both LV and Kate. I guess we will see in a few weeks if she goes to the Cruise show and during Joan promo, but i’m hoping for a new glam team overall. Her makeup and hair looked great for the LV show so i’m hoping she continues with Brooke and Christian.
At least last year Jackson Wang attended wearing LV. I liked his look. The Zendaya case is really weird tho 👀 👀 👀
I have no idea about Nicolas Ghesquière continuity, but as you said, there will be a fashion show on May 23th, 2024 in Barcelona, Spain.
I would like to see her there just to have some crumbs since she's been kind of MIA lately, after finishing filming in Mexico.
I also have no idea about the term of Sophie's contract, but she's been with LV since 2016, I think, and that's more time than her former romantic relationship 💀 So maybe the end of their link is near . . . .
I miss her time with Rebecca Corbin-Murray really. And yeah, Brooke and Christian did great for Paris Fashion week ❤️

Here we are... Best Animated Feature noms...
My predictions were 4-out-of-5...
THE BOY AND THE HERON, NIMONA, ROBOT DREAMS, and SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE all got in...
The one I got wrong was TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM, which to be fair, I did say in my previous post that that one was the wild card out of my predictions. Despite the high praise and tons of nominations TMNT:MM got elsewhere, in addition to a single win, I guess those who were nominating it for the Oscar just didn't think the oozy gross-out turtle action-superhero movie cut it.
Instead, we have ELEMENTAL, so Disney Pictures gets at least one slot this year. The last time they were shut out entirely was for the features of 2011, the year they released the critical dud CARS 2 and the completely dumped WINNIE THE POOH. I was pretty sure that this year, they also wouldn't make it. ELEMENTAL's critical reception was fine at best, nowhere near the acclaim MUTANT MAYHEM got. WISH was both a critical and commercial dud, so that had no chance, only ELEMENTAL did... Maybe the Academy just didn't feel like pulling a 2018 and nominating two superhero action animated movies. Maybe they decided to have just one IP-based movie in the race, and opted for an original story. (As NIMONA and ROBOT DREAMS are based on pre-existing source material, BOY AND THE HERON references a novel that plays a part in its story.) Maybe something else about it wasn't all to their liking. Maybe Disney is just that powerful that they got themselves a slot.
I still think this is a strong line-up, and again, it speaks to how robust this year was for features both mainstream and independent.
And I will admit, even though I wasn't in love with the movie, ELEMENTAL getting into the race is very nice, I feel. Director Peter Sohn's first Pixar feature, THE GOOD DINOSAUR, was both a box office flop and didn't get a nominated for the Oscar (it shared the year with sister Pixar movie INSIDE OUT). It was also a film that he inherited after its original director got removed from it. ELEMENTAL was his personal project from the ground-up, and after a rough opening and all the press jeering that it was going to be this big flopperooni, it had excellent legs at the box office... and now... It has a Best Animated Feature nom. Talk about staying power! Maybe Pete Docter should think twice about that statement he made back in the summer, about trying to go back to Pixar's "roots" in trying to figure out what audiences supposedly want from this studio.
Anyways, Pixar usually gets a nom every year. For 2022's animated features, TURNING RED was in the running. 2021, LUCA. 2020, SOUL, which won for that year. Last time Pixar didn't get a nom at all was for 2016, their sole feature that year was FINDING DORY. Got good reviews and made beaucoup bucks, but it shared a year with Disney Animation's ZOOTOPIA and MOANA, two heavy hitters which ended up getting the noms. So, outside of FINDING DORY, MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, and CARS 2, Pixar usually never misses a nom whenever they release a single movie in a calendar year.
Most of Paramount's Oscar noms in animation were for DreamWorks movies they released circa 2006-2012, which are all now Universal movies since Comcast owns all of DreamWorks Animation outright. Funnily enough, the inaugural Best Animated Feature nominations included Paramount's JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS, which was up against eventual winner SHREK, and MONSTERS, INC. Paramount then began distributing DreamWorks movies in 2006, and scored nominations with KUNG FU PANDA, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, KUNG FU PANDA 2, and PUSS IN BOOTS. For a non-DreamWorks nom, there was RANGO, which won for Best Animated Feature of 2011... Ever since then? Only one movie, ANOMALISA. The films they released from 2015 to now just never made it: SHERLOCK GNOMES, WONDER PARK, SPONGEBOB 3, RUMBLE, etc. MUTANT MAYHEM really had a good shot at getting in... Maybe TRANSFORMERS: ONE surprises later this year, I don't know. Paramount's animation history post-80s is so weird...
Anyways, congrats to everyone. I'm personally rooting for either BOY AND THE HERON, or NIMONA.

Formula 1 and its basic information
Introduction:
Today in our new blog we will talk about the new topic which seems quite popular these days known as Formula 1. In Formula 1 we will learn more about what exactly Formula 1 is, where the Formula 1 race is done and How it works. So stay tuned with us on our journey to a deep understanding of Formula 1. We Digitally infos will uncover all the knowledge about Formula 1. So let's get started!
What is Formula 1?
Formula 1 is the highest-class international racing competition with single-seat racing cars. Also, Formula 1 is the world's most renowned motor racing competition. And there is no substitution for the F1 race.
Formula 1 includes team sports that require charging all 4 tyres on a car in under 2 seconds. In F1 race, racers are more like fighter pilots than sportspeople. Racers in Formula One face extreme G-forces and make harsh decisions in the blink of an eye when the speed of racing cars is at 370 km/h. To be the best racer, they push themselves to the very end and make use of incredibly innovative machines to their very limit.
Formula one drivers are competing for the F1 drivers championship while the other teams are fighting for the F1 constructor championship. The winner's prize money is based on the position at the end of the season.
In Formula 1, each race is also known as the Grand Prix. It is also known that the Grand Prix is held at incredible locations throughout the world. The prediction has been made that 2024 will break the Grand Prix record of 24 races that is set to take place this season.
How many drivers and teams have taken part in the F1 race?
With a total number of participants of 20 drivers and 10 teams, they all have taken part in the F1 race.
As in this season, the driver has to experience competition from all-world champions in the F1 race including Lawis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso. And the racers who were in the second season such as Oscar Piastri and Logan Sargeant.
But when it comes to the team, there were few teams such as Ferrari that were in the F1 race since the early year (they had been continuously competing since the very first season in 1950). Also, newcomers like McLaren or Haas who have entered the sport since 2016.
Location of F1 race:
The location includes 21 countries across 5 continents in 2024 schedule. It includes classic tracks such as Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps and Suzuka. Also, it includes the addition to the schedule such as Las Vegas, Maimi and Qartar.
It is seen that China has returned to the Formula 1 calendar for the first time since 2019 and will soon host the first F1 sprint in 2024.
This season they will be featuring seven rounds that will be spread out from May to September. Also, it will be staged in Europe except for the Indianapolis 500 in the United States where most F1 drivers sat out.
In the following decades, F1 developed has arrived at European events with amazing adventure. Also, adventure is now brought to South America, North America, Africa, Australia, and most recently to Middle East as well. Now, this is truly putting the world into World championship.
In the very first campaign, the F1 calendar will feature Monaco, Monza, Silverstone, and Spa. For F1 safety arrangements have been made since then with new modifications.
Working of F1 weekend:
Normally, Formula 1 weekend events usually take place in 3 days that are Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
On Friday, Formula 1 features free practice sessions (FP1 and FP2) for two 60-minute sessions. It is used to check whether racing cars are working properly, and if the car is not working properly, the changes can be done before the main race. So does the preparation will continue.
Onto Saturday, after the end of the final practice session (FP3), the drivers will be heading toward qualifying sessions. In qualifying sessions, the slowest five drivers with 18 minutes in the Q1 segment get eliminated. In the Q2 segment, five more will get eliminated in 15 minutes. Then the position will be set on the grid prior to that is 20-11 as per penalty. The final 12 minutes in the Q3 segment will decide the top 10 grid slots along with the fastest driver position.
The final race itself will be done on Sunday, where drivers will battle for scoring points. Also, drivers have to grab the spot on the podium where they have to take the chequered flag first to win.
Conclusion:
At the end of this session, we learned so much about Formula one including what is Formula 1, how many drivers have taken part in Formula 1, and how it works. So in the next session, we will go more deep into Formula 1 and provide you the information you require. So stay tuned with us on our next session.

(JTA) — Daniel Lombroso sees “Nina & Irena,” his documentary short film about his grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, as a coda to his 2020 documentary “White Noise,” in which he followed leaders in the “alt-right” movement.
For the four years during the making of “White Noise,” he was surrounded by neo-Nazis, who were on the cusp of a resurgence around the 2016 presidential race. “I never thought about my own connection to the material in any detail, and then I realized the reason I cared so much about this story before anyone else in the country was because of my grandparents,” he told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “It was the stories that I grew up with that made me vigilant about extremism and curious and concerned.”
In “Nina & Irena,” which will be released through The New Yorker on the magazine’s digital channels on Wednesday, Lambroso’s Polish-born grandmother Nina Gottlieb — 90 during filming and 91 now — opens up after eight decades about her experiences during the Holocaust, when she lost about 25 members of her family, including her sister, Irena. Only she and her parents survived.
The New Yorker Studios film relates Gottlieb’s tale through on-camera interviews with Gottlieb that are interspersed with archival footage. Much of the film depicts simple moments of joy with her family, such as doing Zoom yoga with her grandson and her 90th birthday party surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gottlieb is fully independent, lives alone in Long Island and still has an active lifestyle.
“The film is about the richness of her life,” Lombroso said. “There’s a lot of what they call Holocaust fatigue that we all grew up watching a lot of Holocaust films and hearing from survivors and you expect certain things. You expect the train tracks and you expect Auschwitz and smoke and it was very important for me to not necessarily avoid the horrors — you have to understand the horrors — but also balance them with the comedy of her life. She’s so funny.”
The film has been a success on the festival circuit, including winning best short film at the Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride. The documentary festival DOC NYC included it among its “Short Lists” predictions for top contenders for Oscars and other awards.
Growing up in New Rochelle, New York, Lombroso knew that his grandmother was a Holocaust survivor, but she never spoke about her experiences during the war. She thought her stories were too horrible for her children and grandchildren when they were young. She always thought she would tell them later, but later never came. Lombroso realized that now was his chance to finally ask, before it was too late.
In the film, Gottlieb talks about her childhood in Kielce, Poland, and her relationship with her sister, spying on Irena and tattling to their mother. Even when discussing her sister’s disappearance, she has a matter-of-fact way of telling these stories, accepting what happened and not dwelling on the past.
Lombroso said her testimony helped him avoid the cliches of documentary filmmaking. Too often, he explained, “you’ve gotten your main subject to pour themselves out in front of the camera like it’s a therapy session. My grandmother doesn’t go there,” he said. “At first, I thought that would be a problem.” However, “with distance and going through screenings, I realized that’s what makes the film so different and special. Her message is one that you don’t hear much: Keep going in life. Don’t feel sorry for yourself. And if someone like her doesn’t feel sorry for herself [after] losing upwards of 20 family members, then I certainly can’t.”
Another surprising aspect of the documentary is Gottlieb’s compassion for her tormentors. Having been evacuated to Prague, she saw the liberated Czechs pour tar on German officers and burn them alive. She was horrified.
“One of the worst moments of the Holocaust for her was watching a German officer be burned alive by Czech bystanders. She says, ‘You don’t do that to other people. We’re all born little adorable children. What happens to us?” Lombroso said. “The person she has sympathy for is her perpetrator and I just find that so rare in this day and age.”
In order to get this level of honesty from his grandmother, Lombroso approached this project, his first personal film, like his previous work at The New Yorker, where he is a staff filmmaker, and before that at The Atlantic.
“I’m used to embedding myself with people who I disagree with. I always try to understand subjects in the same way. Even when I was dealing with Richard Spencer, who is a famous white nationalist, I was trying to understand the root of his ideology and how he became who he is today,” he said. “I wanted to understand how someone becomes that f–ked up. We went skiing together and I met his mother. That’s the kind of reporting I just love doing and I think people open up to me because I don’t feel judgmental towards them. I just want to understand.”
And despite his love for his grandmother, he tried to keep a certain creative distance. “My grandmother had no editorial control,” Lombroso said. “She saw the film for the first time a few days before it premiered, and I told her you cannot change anything. And sure, there’s a tenderness in the film that comes through because I love her and feel close to her, but it was important to me not to compromise my practice in any way with her story.”
The one time he did let her weigh in is when he showed her a synopsis of the film that mentioned survivor’s guilt. She was furious.
“She said, ‘I don’t feel guilty about anything,’” Lombroso said. “I think it’s important to see someone like her and that’s what makes her so inspiring.”

some of my trickier asks or things I want to keep out of the tags
[link was a twitter post saying they wanted to get rid of Oscar to have car|ando back together at McLaren]
AFASFGHLASHFL babe even as a car|ando person I have to let you vent that out because that is possibly the most cringe thing I have seen since maybe 2016. I am fully expecting DTS to do another segment on car|ando and frame it so that McLaren and Lando want Oscar to leave because he doesn't touch Lando enough on camera or use nonstop gay innuendo. forget teammates valuing respect for each other and piling up McLaren's hardware cabinet, why oh why won't Oscar tackle Lando to the ground or talk about dicks and balls with him for fancams 😭
sorry anon I'm just cutting off that last part bc I don't want to attract any discourse about it to my blog <3 but yeah I honestly find it baffling that car|ando ended up being the larry ship for F1 fandom when Carlos of his own volition chose to leave after one season?? if they were real life a couple and wanting sex all the time surely staying on the same team would make sense and that he wouldn't go to Ferrari and immediately start acting more like a besotted, handsy husband with Charles than he ever did with Lando yet no one thinks they're secretly married. why didn't he do like Daniel and stick it out with McLaren even during bad times to stay with Lando if real life couple
and straight up they're not only disregarding everything that Oscar has brought to McLaren and promises for the future ! they're deciding that Pato is disposable too. I say this as a semi fake fan but even I wouldn't base my predictions about contract negotiations on rpf.
<3 thankfully it isn't all of us car|ando people who go too far but it feels like the other side are getting louder and louder
honestly I can boil my two main issues with the car|andoisreal brigade to three points:
misogyny and publicly targeted hate toward their real life girlfriends who they actually do have sex with/have romantic feelings for and who they openly choose to be around at the exclusion of their sports bromance friend
this particular brand of car|ando revolving entirely around Lando being conveniently stripped of a personality apart from giggling so he can be handy insert for women desperate to have Carlos for themselves
bringing 1D shipping into yet another new fandom and basically rinse and repeat with Carlos and Lando's names inserted in the [namexname] box
I know that a lot of us car|ando folks are nothing to do w this garbage and the good thing is that usually these people take themselves out either by pissing off the men involved in the ship or getting bored waiting for their fake ship to "become canon" finding a new rpf ship to latch onto.
oh and I do know that the person who made the office meme about Lando saying the podium thing intended it solely as a joke but it found the Other Side real fast and they genuinely put it in their dossiers of car|ando vs |andoscar. which I don't get for many reasons but also if they think Carlos and Lando are in a secret gay relationship and Lando doesn't even like Oscar then why the need to keep going seeee seeeeee he loves Carlos not Oscarrrrr aslfhsalfhslahf jesus christ why am I even trying to rationalize this
thing is I don't want any more of this on my blog or in our part of fandom so I'm going to limit how much of any asks I'll answer about it. I don't at all mind if people need to vent but jsyk I might not always post it publicly.
I'd recommend blocking and not engaging with it to everyone else too. I might curb how much car|ando is on my blog for a while just because it's so embarrassing to be associated with the grown ass women stalking Rebecca/Carlos content and flooding it with car|ando comments.

'“Barbie” crossed the billion-dollar mark, and with each dollar earned, it only helps any future awards campaign (even if Hollywood strikes continue). As the “sublime” Ken, Ryan Gosling makes a case for delivering the single best performance of his career so far. A two-time nominee for “Half Nelson” (2006) and “La La Land” (2016), the Canadian actor could be a significant threat on the circuit. With all the love for Greta Gerwig’s summer smash, Will Ferrell may have a minor role in the film, but like Jamie Lee Curtis last year for “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” you never know what the Academy could throw into the equation. He’ll also get a boost with his producer credit on Netflix’s “May December” from Todd Haynes (also offering a worthy contender in Charles Melton).
It won’t be easy with veterans from prestigious dramas sure to be in the mix.
The other half of the “Barbenheimer” craze, “Oppenheimer,” the Christopher Nolan’s historical opus, could bring Robert Downey Jr to the ceremony and his co-star Matt Damon.
Downey Jr has been nominated twice – “Chaplin” (1992) and “Tropic Thunder” (2008) – and the industry’s love for him can go a long way. With Damon, “Oppenheimer” is another charismatic turn from the Oscar winning screenwriter of “Good Will Hunting” (1997). If his leading turn in Ben Affleck’s “Air” is too difficult to overcome in best actor, he could still garner recognition like other actors who’ve been recognized after delivering multiple worthy performances (i.e., Philip Seymour Hoffman for “Charlie Wilson’s War” who also had “The Savages” and “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead”). But will the Academy double dip, especially since only one actor has been recognized from a Nolan movie: Heath Ledger for “The Dark Knight” (2008).
The Academy naming Downey and Gosling as nominees will be God’s gift for Oscar ratings...
AND THE PREDICTED NOMINEES ARE:
Robert DeNiro – “Killers of the Flower Moon” (Apple Original Films/Paramount Pictures) Ryan Gosling – “Barbie” (Warner Bros.) Robert Downey Jr. – “Oppenheimer” (Universal Pictures)...
ALL ELIGIBLE TITLES...
Matt Damon – “Oppenheimer” (Universal Pictures) Robert Downey Jr. – “Oppenheimer” (Universal Pictures) Josh Hartnett – “Oppenheimer” (Universal Pictures) Will Ferrell – “Barbie” (Warner Bros.) Ryan Gosling – “Barbie” (Warner Bros.)...'

Blatantly Partisan Party Review IX (NSW 2023): Group K (Oscar Grenfell / Socialist Equality Party)
Prior reviews of the Socialist Equality Party: federal 2013, federal 2016, federal 2019, federal 2022
What I said before: “Simply put, the SEP are the cranks of the Australian socialist space. That’s saying a lot given some of the weird units out there too. The SEP are still ranting that all other left-wing parties and trade unions, including other socialist parties, are on the ‘pseudo-left’. It’s tedious and childish. Just because you have minor ideological disagreements does not mean everyone else is some stooge of global capital.” (federal 2022)
What I think this year: The SEP failed to retain federal registration when parliament raised the membership threshold from 500 to 1,500 members, leading to a comical sequence of events detailed in my federal 2022 review. They did, nonetheless, run grouped independents at the federal election: in NSW, these were Max Boddy and Oscar Grenfell. Both of them are back for the NSW state election. Boddy is standing as an SEP-endorsed independent in the seat of Bankstown, while Grenfell leads a two-candidate SEP-endorsed ticket in the upper house. You need 15 candidates in a group to get a square above the line, so obviously this SEP tilt at office (like all their tilts at office) is a non-starter. They are whinging that they don’t get the SEP name on the ballot because of NSW’s “anti-democratic electoral laws”, when if they simply had 13 more friends they’d get an unlabelled square above the line and if they could sign up 750 members they would be able to get their name on the ballot. If they truly were a party of the workers, 750 would be no problem.
Anyway, the SEP is the most disagreeable wing of socialism in Australia. If you’ve been following this blog for any length of time, you know I think they are petty and narrowminded, habitually condemning everyone else for even the slightest disagreement. The hubris of their rhetoric is in inverse proportion to its persuasiveness. If you want a socialist option in NSW, go with the Socialist Alliance rather than this bilious not-a-party.
Also, predictably, the SEP’s rhetoric about the war in Ukraine is “look what you made me do” bullshit sympathising with Russia. Indeed, Grenfell claims in the above-linked article that this is a “US-NATO war against Russia”, which is so comical even the most craven Putin apologist would surely blush. It seems strange to me to need to reiterate to some on the left that sovereign states can freely choose their memberships of international organisations, and these choices do not justify military assaults, not even from Russia. But it seems some remain wedded to “the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and my enemy is always the US”, or to blindly supporting Russia as if the Soviet Union never collapsed. Yawn.
Recommendation: Give Group K (Oscar Grenfell / Socialist Equality Party) a weak or no preference.

January 11, 2023.
the image you may or may not have been aware of, I contend the present moment is the point where, to the public, it is most powerful.
when it was first made and printed, only a very specific public must have been aware of it; but i don't want to discount any of the sentiment behind it either. a kind of jovial imagination that those in high school can project into the future - it is a speculation equally as true as the speculation adults make about their younger selves.
when Gladstone shared it again on instagram, after some real buzz about her performance in Certain Women, i must imagine a real kind of satisfaction. i was not around to say what broader sentiment was like, but in her words: "Well, MTHS class of 2004 - trying my best, got surprisingly close to a nod, 13 years out the gate. You guys called it! Josh, your turn! #lucky13 #mthshawks #dontgiveup."
of course, again, I must imagine it might have recirculated after her casting in Killers of the Flower Moon was announced. and I know it did as the film premiered and a new buzz emerged. but of course, after the golden globes, we are now at a fever pitch.
my thesis is that the image currently is a POWERFUL SEER, or carries the energy of one such person's words. there is a difference between being true and holding truth. because of course, the oscars will go as they go. if the performance doesn't win an award this round, there's always another performance another year that holds promise. and if it wins, great - the prediction (though not technically that) will have been right, and really i think everyone wins. it remains forever the case, but the energy dies down eventually.
when the Cubs are coming back after almost fucking things up in 2016, people are glued to the game in anticipation. It is belief deafening in its silence, intense with the fear that speaking it aloud will jinx the title away for another one hundred and eight years. so it is somehow sheer coincidence that so many people vying for the academy's recognition of Gladstone, and all that it may represent, who may still be vocal about their hopes, have an image that so clearly represents that silent thing living in their hearts now.

2. Which team do you think will have the most intern fights/battles?
3. Who do you think will dnf first?
4. Who do you think will have the most dnfs?
5. Do you think someone will have his maiden win? If yes, who?
6. Do you think we will get a reserve driver step in? If yes, who do you think it could be?
7. Who do you think will win the first GP?
8. Do you think Pierre will get a penalty point in the first race and has to sit out the second race?
9. Do you think Max will get his third world championship or is it someone else?
10. Do you think someone will retire after this season? If yes who?
11. What is your wildest prediction for the season?
Send this to some friends and mutuals to see what they think
Ohhh I love games!
1. I think Oscar will do the best, but I’m veryyy curious to see how Nyck will do👀
2. I’d love to say merc but the British empire was very boring last year :( so I’m hoping for French on french violence at alpine! Don’t believe they’re best buddies now
3. Haas probably 😬
4. Ohh that’s difficult! Idk which team but based on last year it’ll probably either alpine or one of the Ferrari powered teams
5. Lando, im really really hoping he gets it this year
6. I highly doubt it
7. Not a clue🫣
8. That would be hilarious, idk about the first race but I do think he’ll get that last penalty point before his next points expire
9. I hope so! Tho I’d like a bit more of a battle compared to last year, I don’t think merc and Ferrari will have improved enough to take the title unless the rbr is suddenly awful
10. Nope, unless either Lewis or nando decides to leave but I doubt that
11. Charles and Carlos are gonna get so frustrated with each other that they’ll replicate the great brocedes crash of Barcelona 2016
