What’s up everyone?
I’m a car guy and I love Japanese cars — JDMs (the ones  made for the Japan Domestic Market).
But I have to tell you Japan's trains, ROCK too!
Japan is known as one of the best countries if not the best country for trains.
Japanese people love their trains without question, for their design, innovation, speed, affordable ticket prices, and best of all — for being always on time.
Japanese train culture has produced many train buffs or train fans.  One group is called Nori Tetsu— those who love to ride the trains and the other group is Tori Tetsu — those who love to photograph trains.
Yesterday, I rode on the Kintetsu Railway’s newest edition to their commuter train fleet — the awesomely cool Hinotori (Firebird), which sprints  between Osaka and Nagoya via Mie prefecture — my home region.
I boarded the Hinotori at Tsu Station in Tsu City, which is the only stop the Hinotori makes between Osaka and Nagoya.
The Kintetsu’s other trains make the run from Tsu Station to Nagoya Station in about 1 hour but the Hinotori does it in 40 minutes.  So is it worth it to save 20 minutes and pay a few hundred Yen or a few $bucks more?  Here’s the most important reason for opting for the Hinotori — the SEATS!!
Reserve a seat in the train’s Premium cabin and who cares about looking out the window at the scenery speeding by because you’re too busy stretching out or curling up and getting cozy in a powered  leather, heated,  full recliner (including headrest and foot ottoman) that rivals even the cushiest of Lexus sedan seats. The only thing missing are massage chair roller balls. When you’ve found your body’s sweet spots it’s shuteye time.
It’s the ultimate train lounging experience. I arrived at Nagoya Station feeling refreshed, relaxed and de-stressed. The only downside is the train is too quick!.

The year is 2004, and 15 year old me pops in JDM Insider 2 for the 1st time. One car immediately catches my eyes, the Night Walkers Verossa driven by Tomokazu Hirota. I loved how wild the car looked and how crazy Hirota drove it & I knew I had to have one. Flash forward 19 years later, and I spotted this beautiful Pearl Blue Metallic JZX110 Verossa from FAC (Freee's Auto Customes), and I HAD to have it. Similar to my old S2000, I had no idea this was an OEM color. I then learned that only 19 were ever made!!! With only 1200 turbos produced and 350 5sp, this is a gem!
I've been a Schassis man my entire life, but the opportunity to have this car was too golden not to miss out. I contacted the dealer and did the entire deal myself. It was scary, yes, but I went through with it from all the good feedback I received from people who have worked with FAC. I can not praise them enough for their excellent customer service and openness about any questions I had. I finally own my dream car!
This upcoming spring, I'm traveling to Japan with my wife Sarah and my Mom to see it in person and to do a long overdue tour of Japan. Selling the 180sx was sad, and I love that car, but I had to make this happen. I can't wait to visit my friends in Japan after being away for over a decade! Tokyo, Kyoto, & Osaka/Kansai, here we come in 2024!
