I finished it! I was inspired by the Rorschach test because I looked at one and immediately thought of KDJ and I don't know what that says about my mental state

orv is about killing the pessimistic nihilist in you saying you are only loved because you're useful, that your beloved people know only the outer wall you present to the world and would never love the little monster you've hidden inside your very core. it's about breaking that wall, crumbling it and rebuilding your story, rewriting it and knowing you are loved because you are you, every percent of you.

Two scenes that are very similar to me, do you see my vision?
Except the obvious - MC who becomes a demon asks a comrade to kill him - I like to draw a parallel between Izutsumi and Han Sooyoung here. They're both two characters who joined the party later on, starting in an antagonistic role, and they have a similar personality that wants to project the idea that they don't really care for their companions like the rest of the party does for each other. So, the MC goes to the logical conclusion that they are the best person to dump this on.
There's a panel near those in ORV where Han Sooyoung is saying something along the lines, "What do you take me for Kim Dokja? Do you think I am heartless?", though she does push forward and literally pushes the rest of the party (Gilyoung) to fight, she's just as troubled about killing Dokja.
There's a point I wanted to make about the MC (Laios & Kim Dokja) rightly sizing up the fact that Izutsumi and Han Sooyoung respectively are the most likely to go for the killing blow (though Kim Dokja does menage to rile up the rest of the party, he still relies on HSY to set things in motion), but I wonder if there's a part of them that thinks this request just makes the divide between them and the rest of the party larger.
Both have other things setting them apart from their companions, and both are already cutting themselves off from the rest with their detached approach, but for this reason I honestly believe that, if they ended up being the ones actually responsible for Laios and Dokja's deaths, they'd be the ones who would have a harder time coping with it.
(I like how KDJ especially leaves the harder and most thankless tasks to Han Sooyoung every time, including killing him a couple of times because he thinks she's the one who would sooner disregard his wellbeing for the greater good, but well...novel readers please understand what I'm trying to formulate here about the epilogue.)
Anyway, these two scenes really reminded me of one another.

kdj: oh my god yjh must hate me so much, he'll never forgive me for being the Oldest Dream and not only using his suffering as my sole reason to live for the last 13 years of my life but also being the reason he went through all that anguish, I'm a monster
yjh in the entire fucking epilogue: kdj i would break all my principles and morals for you, i have never been more miserable and lost without you and the purpose of my life feels like it has no meaning since your damn epilogue, i could literally never achieve my ■■ without you, you are my happiness

The two people most important to Dokja are self sacrificial af. One stayed in prison while the other regresses for his companions, seeking for a better ending and of course for him to regress he has to kill himself or get killed by someone else. No wonder Dokja thinks he has to sacrifice himself time and time again for the better.
