Operation: Orphyx Venom

So Warframe number 45 is here. Lavos the Alchemist. To participate in Orphyx Venom to get Lavos and his weapon, you need to complete two questlines: The War Within Heart of Deimos His parts can be obtained from the rotation awards from the new Operation: Orphyx Venom. The third tier mission drops each of his parts’ blueprints, including his main blueprint and his alternate helmet blueprint from A rotation with a 4% drop chance. The rotation of the Endurance mission (Tier 3) runs on an AABC rotation, just like most other missions in the game.  Destroying 3 Orphyx’s will be one rotation.  Tier 1 and 2 of the mission allow for a maximum of 24 Orphyx kills before extraction is required whereas Tier 3 allows for an extra 12, totaling up to 36 total Orphyx per run. The merchant for this event is down in Deimos.  Father is currently selling all of the items from the last raid (Scarlet Spear) as well as some new things. To earn Lavos without finding his parts, you are going to need 4,500 Phasic Cells.  Phasic Cells are the currency for this Operation and can be earned by earning points in the respective missions.  10 points in the mission will equal 1 Phasic Cell.

To craft Lavos, you’ll either need to be rank 4 with The Entrati Family or buy some gems off of another player as he requires the rarest Deimos gems. All in all.  I think the new Operation is a bit lacking and a bit unbalanced. The Necramechs you can find in mission, should you not own one yourself, are extremely weak and are only there to allow players who haven’t farmed for their own mech to play the mission.  Long endurance runs with just those weaker mechs are near to impossible.  The primary target during the raid, the Orphyx, are very bulky and take a lot of damage before being destroyed.  An uncoordinated squad will easily lose. DJが低音の音量を上げればダンスフロアの客が盛り上がり、体の動きも激しくなることを、エレクトロニックミュージック好きは経験的に知っている。だが、そうした反応は意識的な反応なのだろうか。 　カナダの研究者がこのほど、これまで科学的に示されていなかった、低音と身体の動きの関係を明らかにした。研究結果は7日、学術誌カレント・バイオロジー（Current Biology）に掲載された。 　研究では、エレクトロニックミュージック・デュオ「Orphyx」のライブの観客130人のうち約60人に、身体の動きを計測するための動作検知ヘッドバンドを装着してもらい、人間には聞こえない超低周波音が流れるスピーカーのスイッチを入れたり切ったりした。 　その結果、超低周波音が流れると、身体の動きが12％ほど活発化することが示された。 　被験者に記入してもらった質問票から、音の変化には気付かなかったことが確認された。これにより、曲の盛り上がり部分に反応したのではなく、低音に反応して動きが激しくなったことが証明された。

The debut project of Toronto based production company Waveshaper Media in 2011. I Dream of Wires traces the history of the modular synthesis from its birth in the competing designs of Moog and Buchla, through its nadir in the digital age and up to the current Eurorack- led resurgence. The story is told through fascinating interviews, from pioneers such as Morton Subotnick and Ramon Sender; eighties masters Gary Numan and Vince Clark; and current practitioners Orphyx and Trent Reznor. Beginning with the very different philosophies of East and West Coast synthesis and looking at the reasons behind the Moog systems eventual ascendancy. 

The first half of the Film gives a concise overview for the uninitiated and contains plenty of insights for even the most ardent synth-head. Created by Filmmaker Robert Fantinatto and Electronic musician Jason Amm. I Dream of Wires is part documentary and part homage to Analogue. And nowhere is this more evident than in the treatment they reserve for the likes of Yamaha’s DX7 and the age of the preset. The scrapping of modular systems that occurred in the 1980s will bring a tear to the eye of many an Analogue aficionado, as will the prices that many units went for in these barren years. It is interesting, however, that is now the glassy sounds of FM synthesis, once heralded as the future, that seem outdated. Taking Acid House as the birth of the resurgence, the final half of the Film is a journey through the world of the Modular hobbyist and the interesting place that hardware synthesis holds alongside the unlimited potentials of software emulation. Much of the renewed interest in modular systems provides an interesting snapshot of a larger cultural resistance to our current corporatised digital age. With so many Euorack units manufactured by independent companies or sole traders and the open source nature of Doepfer’s system. The passion of Fantinatto and Amm is clear in the Films conclusion too; painting as it does a bright future for Modular synthesis after so many years in the wilderness.

We have a close-knit community of Bristol-based producers to thank for one of the 2010’s most distinct movements in electronic music, and few rep the city as hard as Kahn. Emerging around the start of the decade with releases on Peverelist’s Punch Drunk, Idle Hands and Mala’s Deep Medi, he’d go on to form a dancefloor-destroying partnership with Neek as well as the visionary Young Echo collective. His productions drift across the murky waters between dubstep and grime, channelling roots and soundsystem culture. With Neek, he runs labels Bandulu and Hotline, the latter emulating old-school heuristics where you’d ring a phone number to hear new releases over the line to order. This month, the Young Echo crew will self-release their second, self-titled LP of squad selections, as picked out by the man himself.

For our 203rd Truancy Volume, Kahn has pretty much immortalised the lingering spectre of this dark winter. “I wanted it to be different from anything I’ve put together before, more personal perhaps,” he says of the mix, which connects the dots between the likes of Sisters of Mercy, Pharmakon, Orphyx and Omar Souleyman. It’s a staggering, foreboding collection of unexpected selections that simultaneously come across as natural and cohesive choices orbiting the Kahn sound.
