“The match up for the finals has been decided folks, it’s (Y/n) versus Ginba Orochi!” You felt a grin form on your face as Hanami announced the match up, following Orochi’s semi-final victory.

As people slowly started dispersing from the stadium you made your way over to your boyfriend, giving him a quick peck on the cheek.

“Congrats on the win, you better not go easy on me love.” You congratulated Orochi on his quick burst victory.

“Same to you.” Orochi said, a small smirk on his face.

You both parted ways there, you had a tradition not to see each other till the day of the match, so neither of you would accidentally give up any strategies or plans that you’d use the next day.

You spent the day perfecting your new launch and training. Both of you had battled each other many many times, but the win loss board was exactly 50-50, you both had an equal amount of wins and losses against each other. This time you were definitely going to come out on top, you were sure of it.

“It’s time for the long awaited final of the tournament, (Y/n) versus Ginba Orochi” The crowd was cheering loudly as both of you entered the stage. You both quickly launched your beys at the start signal and after a tough match you won, with a burst finish.

51-50, The sound of the burst was music to your ears.

All right, so I think about… three days ago, Beyburst officially ended. And I’mma be a bit nitpicky, so if you’re not feeling it, don’t read this! I’m also mostly going to be talking about the Turbo characters. xD

So, first of all, I’m happy that we actually got to see some of the gangs from the first three seasons! :Dc It’s a lot better than not getting to see them, after all, and it’s nice to know that at least for a few frames, they were let out of the beyblade basement.

But now I’m gonna get into what I don’t really like. XD

Okay, so it definitely makes sense that the past characters weren’t given redesigns or more screentime—this is the ending episode, so why would they be? The importance wasn’t on them anymore. But from a story perspective, I just… really don’t like how it looks like time stood still for them even though YEARS have passed. And also, it makes me sad that it seems like Hyde hasn’t gotten Hades back seeing as he’s still lost his throne to Phi and just has a stepstool. ):

Overall, it just didn’t feel satisfactory for me. I’m most interested in Turbo, which as we all know, was a majorly flawed season with good characters, so what bothers me the most is that most characters’ arcs weren’t exactly resolved, or we weren’t given enough screentime to SEE that they were, and then we never got another season to see them again.

Fubuki, for example, just up and left for nine episodes, and when we saw him again, we just got a flashback telling us that he realized he stopped having fun blading and that was what was dragging him down. We didn’t get to see exactly how he felt about his friend/co-captain betraying him, we just got little snippets that implied how he felt.

Suoh’s arc was also left unfinished, because after the cruise, he didn’t get enough screentime for us to see how he’d improved upon himself. He just stayed the same… and yet he and Fubuki somehow became friends again. Things happening off-screen don’t count. Dx

(I’m also frustrated that we didn’t get to see Toko have an arc, either, when he could have had a great one. Toko’s thing is that he tries being like other people he perceives as strong to BE strong, but he doesn’t realize that he just needs to be himself. That realization is supposedly what gets Treptune to resonate with him, and for Fubuki to pass on the title of Beigoma Academy Bey Club Captain to him, but do we see how he came to that realization? Nope!)

The ending of Beyburst didn’t feel satisfactory for me because not everyone got their stuff resolved, but it feels like the show is trying to act like they did. And also, I feel like the past/not focused-on characters have been done dirty by them only getting what are basically screenshots.

Beyblade character design analysis: Orochi Ginba

Link to the masterpost. It's been a while since the last time I did one of these, so let's get to it

Starting with the hair, Orochi has dreads. Yamata no Orochi is a multi-headed and multi-tailed serpent/dragon in Japanese mythology. Each one of Orochi's dreads resembles a serpent

Orochi wears headphones. It fits with his whole hearing gimmick. I imagine sensitive hearing can be a bit annoying and headphones (especially noise-cancelling) would be helpful

His jacket has piano keys. He has a musical background and hearing = sound = music. Plus of all the instruments, it's a piano. It's a percussion instrument (fitting with beybattles being full of clashes) with a wide range and the ability to play both chords and melody. Orochi's hearing gimmick pairs well with a versatile instrument with a wide range of notes

His white shirt is paired with his blue jacket. Overall, Orochi's color scheme of white with blue is very similar to Lui's. Both bladers are also attack type users who fight Shu in the semifinals of a tournament. I never thought I'd be calling Orochi a precursor to Lui but here I am

Orochi wears rings, 2 on each hand. Combined with his hair and jacket, it gives Orochi a more "modern" aesthetic than you'd expect from someone with a classical music background. In the manga the rings have plot significance in that they accidentally injure Shu while launching (the manga stadiums are much smaller). Unlike many bladers, his hand accessories are identical on both hands, suggesting he isn't right-handed like most but not giving away his left-handedness either

Orochi's pants are weird. I don't know what to say about them other than they match the overall color scheme. I don't know what those metal things are but it gives more detail to his design, which is otherwise a little plain compared to most Burst characters

His shoes are white and they match his color scheme (and bey). Most Beyblade characters don't have much going on from the waist down (other than the launcher holster), so it's not surprising here

Beyblade character design analysis: Orochi Ginba

Starting with the hair, he has dreadocks. His page on the wiki says they resemble Yamata-no-Orochi, a multi-headed serpent from Japanese folklore. It's cool visually and references his name (which I don't think has any connection to his bey sadly)

Orochi wears headphones. When he's not using them, they're around his neck. Orochi's whole gimmick is being able to hear beys very precisely, so the music theme complements that

His piano key jacket looks great and I hope it's a think in real life. It also goes with the music theme. The choice to go with blue works well. Even though his bey is white, it has some blue accents, and the shade they picked for Orochi doesn't contrast too harshly with the white. It prevents his design from being all one color without drawing attention to the blue

He wears a white V-neck. It's white because that's Odin's primary color. The V-neck gives it a more "urban" look, which works well with the headphones

Orochi wears 2 rings on each hand. I don't understand the significance behind them other than adding more detail to his design, which is otherwise plain (by Beyblade standards). Also in the manga those ring were responsible for injuring Shu so they have some plot relevance that wasn't carried over

He wears a pair of baggy studded(?) pants. With Beyblade designs, I've noticed there's a lot less detail below the waist. It holds true here, but not to the same extent as it normally does. While most characters have a lot going on above the waist, Orochi's design is a lot less extreme in that regard. By spreading out the detail like this it lets him have a detailed design without being very attention-grabbing. This calmer, more subtle approach applies to Orochi's characterization as much as it does to his design

His shoes are white because it matches Odin. There are so few characters in this franchise with notable footwear that it's expected at this point
