[21/01, 2:33 PM] Jagadeesh KrishnanChandra: The Shakta Agamas
are commonly known as Tantras, and they are imbued with reverence for the feminine, representing goddess as the focus and treating the female as equal and essential part of the cosmic existence.
The feminine Shakti (literally, energy and power) concept is found in the Vedic literature, but it flowers into extensive textual details only in the Shakta Agamas. These texts emphasize the feminine as the creative aspect of a male divinity, cosmogonic power and all-pervasive divine essence.
The theosophy, states Rita Sherma, presents the masculine and feminine principle in a "state of primordial, transcendent, blissful unity". The feminine is the will, the knowing and the activity, she is not only the matrix of creation, she is creation. Unified with the male principle, in these Hindu sect's Tantra texts, the female is the Absolute.
The Shakta Agamas are related to the Shaiva Agamas, with their respective focus on Shakti with Shiva in Shakta Tantra and on Shiva in Shaiva texts. Dasgupta states that the Shiva and Shakti are "two aspects of the same truth – static and dynamic, transcendent and immanent, male and female", and neither is real without the other, Shiva's dynamic power is Shakti and she has no existence without him, she is the highest truth and he the manifested essence.
The Shakta Agamas or Shakta tantras are 64 in number. Some of the older Tantra texts in this genre are called Yamalas, which literally denotes, states Teun Goudriaan, the "primeval blissful state of non-duality of Shiva and Shakti, the ultimate goal for the Tantric Sadhaka".
Shaiva Agamas
The Shaiva Agamas are found in four main schools: Kapala, Kalamukha, Pashupata and Shaiva, and are 28 agamas.
The Shaiva Agamas led to the Shaiva Siddhanta philosophy in Tamil-speaking regions of South-India and gave rise to Kashmir Saivism in the North-Indian region of Kashmir.
Shaiva Siddhanta is a subtradition of Shaivism that propounds a dualistic philosophy where the ultimate and ideal goal of a being is to become an enlightened soul through Lord Shiva's grace. The normative rites, cosmology and theology of Shaiva Siddhanta draw upon a combination of Agamas and Vedic scriptures.
Shaiva Siddhanta is commonly considered a "southern" tradition. The Tamil compendium of devotional songs known as Tirumurai, the Shaiva Agamas and "Meykanda" or "Siddhanta" Shastras, form the scriptural canon of Tamil Shaiva Siddhanta.
Today, Shaiva Siddhanta has adherents predominantly in Tamil Nadu, and Sri Lanka.
Kashmir Shaivism, or Trika Shaivism, is as nondualist tradition of Shaiva-Shakta Tantra which originated sometime after 850 CE.
Though this tradition was very influential in Kashmir and is thus often called Kashmir Shaivism, it was actually a pan-Indian movement termed "Trika" by its great exegete, Abhinavagupta, which also flourished in Orissa and Maharashtra. Defining features of the Trika tradition are its idealistic and monistic Pratyabhijna ("Recognition") philosophical system, propounded by Utpaladeva (c. 925–975 CE) and Abhinavagupta (c. 975–1025 CE), and the centrality of the three goddesses Parā, Parāparā, and Aparā.
While Trika draws from numerous Shaiva texts, such as the Shaiva Agamas and the Shaiva and Shakta Tantras, its major scriptural authorities are the Mālinīvijayottara Tantra, the Siddhayogeśvarīmata and the Anāmaka-tantra.
Its main exegetical works are those of Abhinavagupta, such as the Tantraloka, Mālinīślokavārttika, and Tantrasāra which are formally an exegesis of the Mālinīvijayottara Tantra, although they also drew heavily on the Kali-based Krama subcategory of the Kulamārga. Another important text of this tradition is the Vijñāna-bhairava-tantra, which focuses on outlining numerous yogic practices.
The Agamas of Kashmiri Shaivism is also called the Trika Shastra.
It centers mainly on the Trika system of mAlinI, siddha and nAmaka Agamas and venerates the triad Shiva, Shakti, Nara (the bound soul) and the union of Shiva with Shakti. The trika philosophy derives its name from the three shaktis, namely, parA, aparA and parApara; and provides three modes of knowledge of reality, that is, non-dual (abheda), non-dual-cum-dual (bhedabheda) and dual (bheda). The literature of Kashmiri Shaivism is divided under three categories:
Agama shastra, Spanda shastra, and Pratyabhijna shastra.
Although the Trika Shastra in the form of Agama Shastra is said to have existed eternally, the founder of the system is considered Vasugupta (850 AD) to whom the Shiva Sutras were revealed.
Kallata in Spanda-vritti and Kshemaraja in his commentary Vimarshini state Shiva revealed the secret doctrines to Vasugupta while Bhaskara in his Varttika says a Siddha revealed the doctrines to Vasugupta in a dream.

[21/01, 2:35 PM] Jagadeesh KrishnanChandra:

PGDM or MBA – What Should Be Your Next Choice For Higher Studies? Ft. ODM Business School
Every individual should be working on one skill set that would make them unique and provide them opportunities to support their household and fulfil their dreams. With the rapid growth of academics in the country and how our education system is structured, getting a postgraduate degree has become a must for anyone who aspires to work at higher institutions.
The way our curriculum pans out, it is challenging for any person to gain knowledge that is enough to deal with job expectations and people in real-world scenarios. A person needs to hone a skill set that supports their primary education stream. With the opportunities rising in every sector, there are multiple options for students looking for postgraduate degrees. However, specific streams of education add value to all the educational streams. A Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies opens many doors for a student.
Tumblr media
Only a select few in the world can drop out of school and make a significant contribution to the world. For the rest of us, education is the key. Generally, the more education you have, the better your career opportunities and choices are. A PGDM graduate is a valuable asset to an organization. In business schools, PGDM students learn different techniques and skills that can help businesses grow. Some companies hire Management graduates and even sponsor current employees for a PGDM degree. You know that if a company is willing to pay for employees to get the degree, it’s certainly an asset. Thus, the career opportunity gates are opened and will increase your chances of finding a great job with a stable company.
A PGDM degree gives you a management career where there is continuous learning and professional growth. It allows you to work with industry leaders and top-notch management professionals. The constant challenges keep you intellectually and professionally motivated. Sometimes, you may have to get work done by a particular deadline or against some difficulties. Overall, it’s a demanding job environment where you are required to make quick decisions. However, a PGDM degree can take you places, helping you grow vertically to a business organization’s top position.
Tumblr media
Choosing the PGDM course can surely improve your employability. It is challenging for a fresh graduate with a Bachelor’s degree to find a managerial position. But opting for PGDM makes the same graduate begin a corporate career on a very high note. Many graduates with other professional degrees such as in Engineering, IT, among others, choose to complete PGDM to increase their career prospects.
Management professionals are highly resourceful people. These resources are necessary for them to be successful at their job. As you begin to study PGDM, you get to learn the importance of building contacts and networks. It also allows you to connect with fellow professionals across the verticals, domains, and industries. You also tend to develop similar networks in other spheres as they ultimately help you in your professional life.
When one compares degrees like MBA and PGDM, both being management-oriented, there is still a lot of difference. MBA is more theoretical, while PGDM is more practical, which gives PGDM students an edge while facing job interviews. PGDM is offered by app 500 B-Schools while MBA by 5500 Universities and colleges. Less supply of PGDM creates more demand for them. An MBA graduate’s average salary is around two lakhs, whereas it is around a good seven lakhs for a PGDM student. PGDM is one of the best options for any further studies.

INDIAN HANDICRAFTS: KNOW ABOUT  VARIOUS CRAFTS OF INDIA
From time immemorial, the crafts of India are known and praised worldwide. India has a vast cultural heritage that is reflected within the sophistication of its varied craftworks. The skilled artisans have managed to survive and uphold our heritage by creating exclusive pieces of art that reflects the influence of various empires on the works from our different states.
POTTERY
Known as one of the oldest and most beautiful forms of decoration, the tradition of pottery making dates back to the times of Indus Valley Civilization. Decorated pots have been used in all walks for a multitude of purposes. Pottery can be both handmade and wheel-made.
Figurines of religious importance, various artefacts, toys, dolls, pots, vases made of terracotta from Assam, Odisha, Keonjhar and Khurda; painted black wares from Uttar Pradesh; painted pottery with geometrical patterns from Bikaner and Pokhran in Rajasthan and Kagzi pottery from Alwar; the most famous blue pottery (wherein the blue dye is used to colour objects) from Jaipur and works from states of Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal are some of the worth mentioning names.
JUTE
Widely known as the golden fibre, Jute comes second to cotton in terms of production in India. An extremely flexible fibre, it is turned and twisted easily to make a variety of articles. For centuries, jute has been an integral part of the culture of West Bengal, Assam and Bihar.
LEATHER
The leathercraft started perhaps during the times of Indus Valley civilization where the artisans mainly engaged in the making of clothes, footwear, caps, bags, saddles, shield, etc. The leather shoes, bags, garments, etc from Madhya Pradesh and the famous Kolhapuri chappals from Maharashtra are known all across the world.
METAL CRAFT
Metal crafts in India also originated during the Indus Valley Civilization. The statue of the Dancing Girl, bronze statues of the Chola kingdom and the iron pillar erected by Ashoka’s, the great, all witness our rich legacy in metal craft. Besides creating mythological figures and deities, other items include metal pots, pans, frames, locks, key chains etc.
The famous metal craft includes Bidri ware of Andhra Pradesh; Pembharti from Warangal district in Telangana; Dhokra metal craft from Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh; Kamrupi metal craft from Kamrup, Assam. Made from brass and bell metal the items produced by this metal craft are pots, bowls, water pots, cymbals etc. The region of Ladakh is famous for its brass and iron vessels and the Kashmir is known for its naquashi work.
STONEWORK
Stonework has always fascinated all since long. The intricately carved palaces, forts and temples where various forms of carving, engraving, sculptures and undercuts are done on stones. The rock and marble carvings from Rajasthan, Jaipur, Odisha and Nagpur; the stoneware from Madhya Pradesh includes household items such as chakla, silbatta, handis, chakkis, etc. Gwalior, Ratlam, Mandsaur are famous for sculptures and figurines of religious importance. Pattharkatti in Gaya, Bihar is known as the village of stone carvers where the artisans churn out beautiful pieces made from black stone (granite). The ancient temples of Odisha and Khajuraho are world-famous examples of rock crafts of India. Marble ware from Agra in Uttar Pradesh owes its credit to the famous Taj Mahal.
NEEDLEWORK
The rich craft of India is incomplete without the mention of the famous thread and needlework from the different states of our sub-continent. The chikankari from Lucknow, crewel embroidery from Kashmir, applique work from Rajasthan, mirror embroidery from Gujarat and Rajasthan, kantha embroidery from West Bengal, phulkari from Punjab, Zardozi from Uttar Pradesh. Today these works are not limited to clothes but shawls, pillow and cushion covers, dupattas, home furnishings, bags, bedspreads, wall hangings are all in high demand.
WEAVE CRAFT
India has a rich and diverse weaving tradition. Be it fabrics made out of silk, cotton, or wool, the demand is never-ending. Silk saris, namely the Baluchari of West Bengal and Mooga and Assam silk of Assam, famous Banarasi saris, Kanchipuram, and Pochampalli saris from Tamil Nadu, Paithani from Maharashtra are among the finest saris in India. Among the cotton work, Khadi and kalamkari continue to dominate the market even today. Wool work is best when it comes to Pashmina shawls from Kashmir and Kullu shawls from Himachal Pradesh.
GI location crafts in India
The Indian traditional crafts have been diminishing in the current times. In order to protect our precious craftworks and the associated cultural heritage, GI tag is conferred on the handicrafts. The tag is used on products which corresponds to a specific geographical location from where they originated. The Government of India enforced the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act in 1999, which came into force in 2003. The GI tag confirms the product is made with specific standards and provide proprietary rights to the traditional producers and encourage them to make and sell authentic products. Today more than 150 handicraft products have been added to the GI list. The most popular ones include:

★ Bharat expected to storm cinemas, advance booking brisk!
June 3, 2019
Tumblr media
Distributors across India are very positive about the upcoming Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif-starrer Bharat, and advance bookings for the film are very strong in multiplexes as well as single screens. Even though the film’s release will coincide with India’s first cricket World Cup match, that doesn’t seem to have affected the business prospects of the film. Distributors predict that Bharat will do extraordinarily well over the first weekend.
Gaurav Ruparel, Distributor, Saurashtra Bharat is like Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan in terms of their box office journey. Its success will depend entirely on word-of-mouth. Advance bookings have just opened and day one will not be house full. Given the response to the film’s promo and songs, it seems the film will pick up as the days go by instead of getting a humongous day one at the box office. If the advance booking picks up considerably in the evening today or by tomorrow, then we will be looking at a very different story. The reports of Bharat are very good. Also, there is no competition from another film for two weeks.
Jeetu Khandelwal, Distributor, Orissa The buzz around this Salman Khan-starrer is very good everywhere and Bharat will take a better opening than his last two releases, Tubelight and Race 3. People are excited about the film in our state, and advance booking is brisk. On day one, the theatres will be houseful, at least in my circuit.
Debashish Dey, Distributor, West Bengal Bharat is looking really good and advance booking is also good. However, the ticket rates are very high, and it’s been a while since we sold tickets worth Rs 70,000 in a single screen, for the first five days of a film. In fact, the advance booking for this film is much better than it has been for Salman Khan’s earlier films as well as the big releases of 2018, including Thugs Of Hindostan. Bharat will earn Rs 28 crore pan-India on day one. Also, we should consider that, the film’s release coincides with India’s first world cup match, against South Africa. This will hugely affect the film’s first-day numbers. But the buzz is definitely there.
Balkrishna Shroff, Distributor, Mumbai The advance booking of Bharat is excellent. The buzz that the film’s promo and songs have created is really strong and expectations are quite high for this Salman Khan-starrer. India plays its first World Cup match on the same day but I don’t think it will affect the film’s business. Instead of Rs 35 crore, the film might earn Rs 32 crore on day one but it will make up for that dip on the second day. Ultimately, what matters is the nine-day business of the film. Bharat is not a film which people would want to miss.
Sunil Bansal, Distributor, Rajasthan The buzz around Bharat is very good. There is no other film releasing for the next two weeks, so Bharat will definitely do well at the box office. Also, this movie is releasing on the festival of Eid and people are enthusiastic during this time. A majority of Eid crowd will come to cinema halls from Wednesday to Friday, and after that, other people will take over, on Saturday and Sunday. Over the weekend, the film should do very well. I would prefer not to hazard a guess as to its actual numbers but the film will definitely do extraordinary business during the first five days after its release.
B H Basha, Distributor, Nizam The advance booking for Bharat is quite good and the buzz is amazing. We just opened advance booking and have sold 20-25 per cent of tickets. This will definitely increase after a day. If you compare the advance bookings of Bharat to those of Salman Khan’s last two films – Tubelight and Race 3 – Bharat looks much better. The film will definitely do extraordinary business at the box office over the first long weekend.
