people who stan ashara and arthur dayne are odd as well. the difference is that these people are rare and usually don’t post bs about other characters while acting like their headcanons are the only truth. also, why did you have to use a logical fallacy? i hate red herrings so pick a different gotcha to use.

and yes… that’s how elia is described. and that is literally almost all we know about her. so how does this contradict my point? it’s still weird and very illogical to stan this character as fervently as her stans do when this is all we know about her.

and your last point is simply untrue. lyanna gets much more characterization than elia, has more narrative importance, and has a mini me who’s directly paralleled to her and a son running around who’s magical destinies and actions will shape the world of asoiaf.

tbh i’d love to know more about elia and i think in the next book she’ll have more narrative importance. honestly, i’m actually one of those crazy people who believes that jaqen h’ghar is the real aegon, so i think elia becoming a more fleshed out character is a very very likely possibility. i also completely believe that a lot of unknown info about the rebellion will be revealed in winds of winter so it won’t just be elia who’s more fleshed out. i am very excited for this and i am eager to see where the dornish plot goes.

now that i’ve proven that i’m not an elia anti nor a martell/dorne anti, i’d like to make it clear that i am an elia stans anti. i find it weird af for people to make whole ass stan accounts dedicated to elia, but i normally wouldn’t make a post about this odd kind of behavior and just block people like this (i love me my block button). however, i’ve lately become very annoyed by these so called elia stans, and my problem with these stans stems from the fact that half the posts they make are posts bashing rhaegar and lyanna. and tbh i don’t even care much about rhaegar and lyanna, but i adore jon, dany, and arya; and i’ve noticed that rhaegar hate goes hand in hand with dany hate and lyanna mischaracterization leads to jon and arya becoming completely mischaracterized. it’s annoying to see so i decided to post about my grievances.

to be clear, i’m neutral on elia as i don’t know enough about her to form an opinion on her. if i haven’t stated it enough i’ll state it again: her stans are the ones who piss me off. like look at that account @eliaalgae that you reblogged. i tagged my post correctly and yet this person came after me spewing shit like a bitch. i don’t even know why i can’t respond to that person who you reblogged, but it’s genuinely annoying when i tag my shit correctly and i have someone being nasty to me despite this. i’m fairly new to tumblr and this is an alt account so i don’t even know why my comments would be restricted here but it’s still annoying as fuck to see.

I've been to a party at our friends with my bf. the boy picked us up with his car and this banger was playing one time. I've been listening to this for such a long time but I've somehow forgotten. my memories were brought back immediately and I felt so nostalgic. love this tune!

love the original but is quite a bit too sad for me nowadays. I'm struggling listening to my old favs which are sadder, slower songs. they make me so depressed, that I've been stuck listening to only covers and 5sos for the last few days.

Well thanks for giving me the motivation to write. Chapter 19 is currently at 1200 words (and will probably continue to grow considering that I still have Raph's pov, Raphael's pov, Leo's pov and the secret pov at the very end of the chapter. Oringially was gonna have Donnie's pov in there too but decided to move that to arc 2)

I've been trying to discuss with TERFs for many years, trying to explain to them in the hope that, by showing understandable, sources, being reasonable (not like all those other trans!) and explaining why I thought what I thought, it would be enough to convince them. It isn't. You won't convince any TERFs that way. Trying to "compromise" you will get eaten bit by bit, because they are not thinking in a rational way, nor are they trying to find "the truth" about the topic at hand. They want to convince you, recruit you, into their think group, because this is an obsession of them and they think they are saving you by doing so. They will only speak with you if they hope they can swing you to their side, otherwise you are of no interest to them.

If you really want to convince a TERF out of transphobia, you need to make friends with them, and then slowly work them so that they remove their views, by gently asking the source of it all, and offering, slowly but surely, another way of viewing things out. You can't do that on Tumblr. And all of that without getting indoctrinated yourself.

So, compromise isn't gonna work, and you're gonna probably slowly erode your own views for them, or you're just gonna get blocked.

Both sides don't have "arguments". We as trans people don't really need arguments, we exist. That's it, that's the issue for TERFs, no matter the reason they invoke, the main issue is that we exist and that based on their ideology, we shouldn't. There is no possible compromise in that. It's just impossible. We won't cease to exist even if it bothers them. They will still think we shouldn't exist, even if we're very nice and don't take much space.

And yet the only scientifically proven way of handling young people transitioning is to accept it and take the necessary step for their gender change/exploration. It reduces their mental health issues, ensures their survival, and their happiness. The "wait and see approach" harms people and hasn't been proven to work.

JKR funds people who are against trans rights. She messed up the politics in the UK regarding trans issues, massively. I think it's fair to consider that HP shouldn't be bought or advertised for, based on this. Not actively funding harmful ideologies that actively try to suppress and harm us is 101 trans friendliness. I don't think that's really so weird/crazy.

Radfems don't think women can have kinks. They think women who are enjoying kinks are mistreated/brainwashed by the patriarchy. They don't think you or I are capable of kinks, or would think the testosterone messed us up. It doesn't fit their conception of what a woman is, and they will harass us and manipulate us so we fit it again.

I try to avoid political (any country) tumblr for my own sanity but sometimes posts seep through the cracks, and I've noticed something.

Almost every credible exercise or lesson on disinformation, trolling, online media literacy, etc. that I've had (credible in this case meaning a research project or an institute putting out information on social media, not just a tumblr post) mentions that often trolls, bots, or proponents of disinformation will purposefully try to drive opposing sides of a debate further apart to try and prevent compromise or mutual understanding.

I'm not trying to imply that Tumblr users who post about politics are necessarily trolls or something, but many people seem completely unwilling to engage with the idea that you should try to compromise with your opponent, and would take that suggestion like an insult. Mainly progressives but I suppose conservatives do it too, I just haven't seen too many of those (it's Tumblr, non-bot conservatives here are like unicorns).

Obligatory disclaimer also that you can't negotiate with everybody. Some people are too stubborn to change their minds, some people are patently unhinged, etc.

Anyways this also applies to transblr and radfems. I know compromise may seem patently impossible but I think both sides have some good arguments and some completely concerning ones. (I mean, my personal opinion is that terfs can have more concerning ones, but that is only my two cents, not an objective statement about the nature of topics like these.)

I think transblr is right about the fact that transitioning and having people around you who affirm your gender is greatly freeing and makes life better for a lot of people. I also think transblr would make a better impression if we stopped basically throwing internet tantrums about Harry Potter.* (It's very telling that of the queer and trans people I know in real life, nobody actually cares as much about it as people online do.)

I think terfs are right about the fact that pushing medical transition on people who are too young and/or not properly ensuring they wouldn't regret it is a really dangerous path to go down. I also think the terf perception of sexually kinky women as 'engaging in self harm' is ridiculous. (I've always seen it framed as kink being bad because it enables men getting off to harming women and is therefore misogynistic, but I've never seen radfems acknowledge that kink can happen between two men or two women or that women can get off to harming men.)

*Obligatory disclaimer because I'll get flamed if I don't write this. I do think badly of JKR because of her in my eyes unacceptable treatment of Imane Khelif, irrespective of your stance on what she said about trans people. That's worth acknowledging in your perception of things, certainly, but transblr was complaining about HP since long before the Imane Khelif thing happened.
