Demeter's Lament

Thereafter, for nine days did the Lady Demeter wander all over the earth, holding torches ablaze in her hands.

She made that year the most terrible one for mortals, all over the Earth, the nurturer of many.

It was so terrible, it makes you think of the Hound of Hadês. The Earth did not send up any seed.

After Poseidon, here's my oil painting of Dionysus. I wanted to capture a sense of dreaming, life, and its pleasures.

He's my favorite Greek god. I love all that he symbolizes.

I've been told multiple times that my take on Poseidon is quite androgynous, but I love drawing him that way.

Hermes Psychopomp

In addition to his well-known roles as the Messenger and the God of Commerce in Greek Mythology, Hermes also served as a guide, accompanying souls to help them navigate the transition between life and death.

I added some final touches using colored pencils and soft pastels. It's not something I typically do, but I find it quite handy for enhancing the contours and small details.

There was one goddess missing from the list, and here she is finally: Hera, the wife of Zeus and goddess of marriage and family.

Zeus And Semele - Watercolor painting

I am further developing the myth of Dionysus, specifically the circumstances surrounding his birth. So, here is a new watercolor painting representing the well-known moment when Zeus reveals himself in his divine form to Semele, the mother of Dionysus.

Dionysus

Let's get back to our mythological series. Today, it's Dionysus who is in the spotlight and I can tell you that I have given him the attention he deserves because this piece took me at least three times longer than the previous ones. I hope you will like my interpretation of this mythological figure.

The conflict between Athena and Poseidon over the possession of Attica - Watercolor painting

Attica. A region claimed by two gods : Poseidon and Athena. In the end, it is Athena who emerges victorious and gets the territory. So the capital city, previously known as Cecropia, is now called Athens.
