Stephen posted a video to Instagram: Three things about our ducks. 1. They are curious, anything new where they live in the Quince Orchard (like the pile of delivered top soil) and an inspection is a must. 2. They love to eat the quince blossom from the lowest hanging branches. If I got them a step ladder they would probably attempt to climb it if it meant reaching more blossom to eat! 3. They are Indian Runner ducks. #indianrunnerducks #inthegarden throughout the seasons #organicgarden #quinceorchard #organicfruittrees https://instagr.am/reel/CpypBexDlQO/

An early Spring Sunday afternoon in our Back Orchard. Fuller’s Quince is always the first quince to blossom out of our five varieties we planted seven years ago. But I’m also looking forward to next Spring, we have just added two more quince varieties (I know! As if we didn’t have enough quince trees!) Two things: 1. The quince varieties we now grow are: •Fullers •Smyrna •Van de Man •Pineapple •Champion •Appleshaped (new) •Portugal (new) 2.My free Ebook Quinces is available on my website. fairywrencottage.com (Link in bio) Hope the week is a good one for you. Do you talk fluent duck? I wish I did! What are they saying? A special welcome to everyone who has followed the breadcrumb trail from #thegoodgram insta course with @lucysheridan (Oh Lucy! Like everything you do it is honest, respectful & insightful. I am getting up at 4.20am for 4.30am when the lessons go live! (Commitment hon!) Five things you might not know about me. 1. One of my favourite peaceful things to do is watching hens drinking. They truely are just in the present moment. 2. Having said that caring for ducks has become one of the most joyful experiences of my life and so has planting a small Quince Orchard (pictured)with my husband & daughter. So many life lessons in patience & resilience. 3. I write about our lives here at Fairy Wren Cottage not because I think that we are reinventing the wheel but because I believe in the power of sharing what we know especially if it benefits each other and our beautiful planet. Paying forward what others have so generously shared with me. 4. I’m not a one trick pony. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) I write about homesteading, slow living, permaculture gardening, whole foods cooking from scratch, preserving/canning, making things for the home instead of buying them, and there are plenty of flowery photos! I think I would feel more at home in the world if I lived 200 years ago. 5. You can also read more at my blog fairywrencottage.com (link in bio) There are blog articles & free ebooks you can download. It is a safe place where everyone is welcome.
