(Long ah post) Re-did my monster taxonomy again, now with more ranks and specificity. I shall now go into more detail about everything on there. Some taxons are grouped together for lack of anything differentiating them. Things in italics and parentheses are out of universe notes, everything else is information known to the monsters. Also yes this does mean the scientific names for the old monstiary pages are almost all inaccurate again.
Monsters are under the domain Monstra. To be put in the domain you need to be sapient and capable of breeding, some exceptions may be made for certain monsters that are clearly monsters but can’t breed. (The chart is nearly the same as the ones that are used in the modern day monster world, but the exact arrangements of species may be changed as some “monsters” aren’t even monsters but most don’t know that nor have a way to find out. Divina was added after the Wubbox were discovered, thus the addition of the last part of the previous in-world sentence as they can’t breed)
Kingdoms
(This was added after the original document was written) Divina is where the monster species made directly by gods go, a semi-waste bin taxa. The name “Divina” goes down to the genus allowing for unique species names. They seem to be immortal, and possess great power over their elements. The two monsters under the ranks are Divina mechana (Wubbox) and Divina simiservice (Enchantling). Organica contains the ordinary monsters made of living organic matter. They have living cells, can breed, and most of them need to eat, but that’s not a requirement. Inorganica contains the ordinary monsters that are made of primarily inorganic/non living matter while they are alive. They can breed, and none of them need to eat. They run entirely off of their lifeforce, but they eat sometimes for enjoyment.
Phylums
Beastia or beasts are critter-like monsters. Mondragora contains plant-like monsters (Mushrooms are plants in this universe, but there are true fungus like molds and yeasts, they just are barely researched). Reanimata or reanimated monsters are similar to the undead from ancient stories. These monsters are made of cells, but dead ones. Constructa are mainly made of non cellular materials.
Classes (not element classes those are different)
Segmenta or segmented monsters have an segmented exoskeleton composed of chitin, a nervous system primarily on their ventral side, hemolymph, a heart that is on the dorsal side, and molt to grow. Jellatina (through that to jellatidae) or jellatinous monsters are a very broad classification, a semi-wastebin taxon. Basically they don’t have a spinal cord, but aren’t segmented. Chordata or chordates have spines of some sort, even if they are very small and simple as in the inkfish(Atrapicidae). They have blood, and internal mineralized bones. Fungi (to Sporalis) or mushroom monsters have no leaves, are consumers, and aren’t like critters. They are actually a network of mycelium and what looks like their bodies are actually just puppets that are made for interacting with other monsters, and maybe aiding in breaking down food. They can shortly detach these and animate them for a bit while not connected to their mycelium, this behavior is most commonly seen in Sporalis sadisticus (Squot), but the others can do it too. Plantae (to Florales) or plant-like monsters are, well, plant-like monsters. They have chloroplasts and are autotrophs, and can absorb nutrients from soil through special membranes mostly on their feet, but some other monsters can do this too so it’s not a requirement. Instead of activating muscles with muscle fibers, they use hydraulics. They inject and retract water from special absorbent tissues that expand and shrink depending on how much water is in them. For transporting materials through their bodies they use xylem. Phantasma (to Phantidae) or phantoms are ghost-like monsters. They have no organs and instead use a special fluid called ectoplasm that does all their bodily functions like digestion, material transport, and movement. Speaking of movement ectoplasm can stay suspended mid air allowing them to float. Skelleosis (to Skelidae) or skeleton monsters are mostly made of calcified bones. They don’t need to eat, sleep, or do anything a living organism needs to do. Constructa(the class, to Mechina) are monsters that construct their bodies. They often start out by their egg morphing into their first form, and then as they gain more lifeforce as they grow they can support a larger body and add on to their forms. Incramentids (to Goleformes) are inorganic monsters that grow like an organic one rather than building themselves.
Orders
Arachnids ( to Vasucta) are segmented monsters that eat by liquifying their food with their digestive juices by injecting it into their food with fangs. Insectiformes are the segmented monsters that eat by chewing or sucking up already liquid food. Synapsids (to Mammalidae) have solid skulls with three holes in each side, differentiated teeth, warm blood, and are the only organic monsters that can have fur. Amphibians (to Amphibidae) are monsters with skin they can breathe through when wet, and solid skulls. Sauropids have solid skulls with five holes in them, and undifferentiated teeth. Piciformes or piscine monsters have skulls with multiple parts, undifferentiated teeth, and partial thermal regulation. Most have gills and lungs.
Families
Crustacean (to Crustata) monsters are Insectoid monsters that have filamentous gills that they use to breathe. Insect monsters are Insectoid monsters that breathe through spiracles. Reptilidae or reptilian monsters are cold blooded and are primarily covered in scales. Avidae or avian monsters are warm blooded sauropsids. Ossipicidae or ossipicids are piscine monsters with calcified bones. Cartelpicidae or cartelpicids are piscine monsters with cartilage bones. Atrapicidae (to Suctipedes) or inkfish are piscine monsters with beaks, very underdeveloped spines that are one or two bones. Herboceae or herbal monsters are plant-like monsters with no bark on them and instead have soft stems. Arboraceae or tree monsters are monsters with bark. Miniralidae (to Geologica) are monsters made of minerals, they typically eat the minerals that they are made of and they are then heated in a special organ called a kiln, the molten rock is then gradually pushed to the surface to cool and harden into the new surface plates of rock. How they move has been theorized to be magic based. Articinidae (to Artinzina)or artisan monsters are made of materials like wood, fabric, or other crafts materials. They grow and do everything in a magic based way.
Genuses
Insectidae - Dronsecta or dronesects are insect monsters that can open portals with their wings. Larvasa are neotonus insectoids that stay in their larval states for their entire lives. Colomu means colored wings and Colomu have colored wings instead of the clear ones other insectoids have. Insectidae is just a wastebin-taxon where the rest of the insect monsters go.
Jellatidae - Membrana have membranes around their fluid insides. Fluidum have part of their bodies as uncontained fluids, the only monster in this genus are Fluidum _____ (haven’t named the species yet) (Whimsies), wich boil the fluid to fill a sack they make to contain it, which allows them to float. Molluscus is a wastebin-taxon that contains the rest of the soft bodied monsters.
Mammalidae - Ferrae are carnivorous monsters that actively hunt things and have sharp teeth. Ruminanta are monsters that have more than 4 stomachs and eat grasses and other tough things that require a lot of digestion. Humammalia are bipedal omnivorous monsters with mostly flat teeth. Psudoreptillia are semi-cold blooded monsters with calcified skin that resemble scales. Thumpidae are monsters that share a morphological resemblance to or are Thumpidae thumpus (Thumpies), which means they have no ribs and primarily move with spring loaded bones retracted by muscles. Cabutoris exists to contain the species Cabutoris maw (Maws), which fit nowhere else.
Amphibidae - Anura have no tails, Squamosis have calcified lumps beneath their skin that make them look like they have scales.
Reptilidae - Lizardae have flat-tipped tongues. Dracoda have forked tongues. Dinodae have non-splayed-out limbs.
Avidae - Pluma have beaks and most are flighted. Humavia are bipedal and don’t have beaks, have bird-like feet, and no fur.
Ossipicedae - Squamifer have scales, Lenis don’t.
Cartelpicedae - Rayta have ray-like cartilage in their limbs, Serrata have serrated teeth which are mineralized.
Herboceae - Herbosa have proper leaves that are fairly thin, Suculata have thick leaves and store a lot of water.
Arboraceae - Ambularborae have no bark covered trunk, Trunka as the name implies, do
Phantidae - Banshee contains Banshee banshee (Whisps), and Banshee talona (Withurs). Felaspira contains Felaspira furrus (Ghatz) Felaspira serpenta (Xysters).
Skelidae - Carossis have some non-bone tissue, ossa are all bone.

GAH. MORE WUBBOX HEADCANONS. screams.
WUBBOX SNOOTS????
I THINK THE WUBBOXES SHOULD HAVE!!!! SNOOTS!!! its so fucking cute and makes side views so adorable!!! and they look more like monsters!!! some examples:
As you can see, wubbox snoots vary from wubbox to wubbox! Some are sharp and lizard-like, like Arc in the first photo, while others are shorter and blockier, like Cedar in the second photo, and Sub in the third.
My wubboxes and their cute snoots do have olfactory organs in their face of theirs, but you usually cant see the nostrils because they are like slits that open only when the nose is actively being used.
They also have monster-like habits regarding these snoots, as they love to rub their faces on things that smell nice, feel nice, or on someone else they love, like a snuggle friend or partner.
As well as this, wubbox jaws are fucking powerful as shit, and having a snout like that allows them space for the muscle needed for such strength. As well as this, their mouths are very large, a well known fact, and they may have a jaw bone in that head of theirs. Wubboxes might even be able to dislocate their lower jaw to allow for stretching the mouth open even further. It should be noted that the lower jaws are separated, like snake's jaws are, which allows for more fluid motion, which helps with expressions and pronunciation of words.
To make it short, wubboxes have jaw bones like snakes!! and thats!! fucking cool as hell and also !!! wubbox snoots!
Wubbox parts can be changed???!! and other cute ideas
Wubbox parts are interchangeable.. for the most part. Many of them depend on the core to determine if they're able to adopt different kinds of body parts. For a plant wubbox, specifically, it needs to have a plant-like body, and requires the energy plants produce. Same goes for cold, water, air, and earth Wubboxes, which also need their specific element to function. When a wubbox that doesn't have their respective element available, they will box and go dormant until it is available. The most flexible wubboxes are the common and rare, which can provide for almost any wubbox part or basically any part a wubbox has.
Wubboxes can remove and replace parts, a probably well-known fact, but how? I believe a wubbox can do this in several different ways. One way is to forcibly remove the body part, leaving the electricity still running, which causes a massive amount of pain. The electricity will spark everywhere, searching for the body part it lost. This method also comes with another terrible downside, that being removed limbs that are reattached after a forced detachment have a much weaker link afterwards, as the electricity and wubbox will fear it happening again, loosening the bond.
They can instead carefully remove the body part by cutting electrical flow through that area. This requires a lot of concentration, though, and has to be a mindful effort.
There is a third way! A second wubbox can remove the body part from another wubbox through an energy transfer, and can close off the electric vein directly. This is one of the best methods, and is also the easiest on both ends.
Wubboxes can fall apart like Lego pieces at any time.. (has to be a mindful effort, though.) They can hold this form for a few seconds and/or minutes. It's the equivalent of holding their breath. Great for moments when they need to hide and look like just body parts!
anyway. clock in tomorrow for more facts.

Broken Titans chapter 6!
I rewrote this chapter, because I was having to research about smth that i ended up not using lol
“Hey, ‘bro, should they wake up sometime soon?”
“Soon they should, just a few more minutes, I think.”
“Yeah, we should let them rest for a little longer then.”
Tootoo lays out, struggling to wake up. She moves her hand through the purple sand of ethereal island. Eventually rolling over, opening their eyes. She sees a small town not too far away. She turns over, to fiddlement. They were starting to wake up. “Fiddlement, we’re here.” She looks at their friend. “Ethereal island?” Fiddlement floats up. Tootoo nods, smiling. “There’s a town over there, maybe a monster could help?” Tootoo stands up. Together they head to the town.
“Oh hey! It’s those 2!” A strange cat looking monster flies at them. “Strange to see visitors, but y’know, welcome either way. Or maybe 3 element ethereals? Eh, that’s kinda impossible.” The cat looks at them, with its yellow eyes. “Hey, I’m ghazt, and you must be…” Ghazt holds out his hand, paws? “It’s Tootoo and Fiddlement.” Tootoo goes to give the cat a handshake, which he promptly takes away his paw, saying “Too slow!” He laughs. “Well, Tootoo and fiddlement, what are you 2 doing here anyways?”
“We’re here to find the wubbox, have you seen it around here?”
“The Wubbox, yeah I’ve seen it around. Last time I saw it was around Reebro’s workshop. I’ll bring you there, maybe Reebro might know where it ran off to.”
The 2 follow the ghazt, which they enter the town of ethereal island. Neither Tootoo nor fiddlement have been in a town. Light island wasn’t anything like this. Although Pompom did visit plant island a lot, which has a big city on it.
They walk down the side walks. Spotting some of the residents of the island there. Notably, a Sox, playing jazz on the sidewalk. A Jeeode In it’s own shop, selling crystals, even though the currency is crystals, these weren’t like the ones they use to buy things. And a whisp, not doing much, but just the look of it caught their attention.
“Where are you visiting from? I'm guessing it's a magical island. Definitely not magical sanctum.”
“We’re from light island.” Says Fiddlement.
“Should've guessed, anyway, Reebro’s workshop is just right over here!” Ghazt enters the workshop. Drills stop at the sound of them entering.
The workshop was filled with many mechanical mechanics. The place was small, in height too, guess it’s better fit for the small owner of the place.
“Hey Ghazt, and… aren’t those the 2 from before?” A weird mechanical monster steps up. It was still slightly organic too, but it seemed as if its brains were going to explode. “Yup, this is Tootoo and Fiddlement.” Ghazt introduces them. Reebro walks more to them, each step making a robotic sound. It takes a look at them, and then walks back, resuming on what he was working on before.
“Was the Wubbox around here?” Fiddlement asks, they float around looking at all the things the mech monster has done. “The Wubbox? I’m not sure where it ran off to.” Reebro tinkers with the machine.
A random burst of excitement fills the room, “Ghazt, Reebro, and, 2 little dudes!” A green and black wasp enters, having to crouch a little to fit. “Hello, Humbug,” says Ghazt. “So, what did I miss, and who are these goobers?!” Humbug’s energy was almost like Zuuker’s. “Tootoo and Fiddlement, and not much happened beside them coming to the island.” Explains Ghazt. Humbug wore a big smile on their face. He picks up Tootoo by the arms, giving her a hug! “Ack! Humbug, I- Uh,” Tootoo squirms in his arms.
“Oh my Scaratar, sorry are you not a hugger? Should’ve asked, I’m sorry!” They drop Tootoo on the floor. “It was just unexpected.” Says Tootoo. “Welp, Reebro, whatcha working on today?” Humbug walks up to the monster. “Cool stuff.”
“Cool.”
Tootoo takes a look at the little trinkets. Although, she wasn't sure what most of them were. She was still interested in them, just not sure what they were. “Anyways we’ve got to find the Wubbox dude.” Ghazt moves the exit of the shop. “The Wubbox?” Asks Humbug, “I think I saw it around the outer edges of the island, not too long ago!”
“Alright, we’ll check there too, c'mon Fiddlement and Tootoo.” They exit out of the building. Stepping back onto the sidewalks. Luckily the island is small, making for a short walk. “I think that’s it,” Fiddlement spots the monster, the yellow could be seen a mile away probably. Tootoo starts to run, catching up to the Wubbox.
A monster, which seemed to be more machine than monster, turns its head around, like an owl. The legs dangle off into the endless ocean of void below. It gets up, standing tall. Tootoo stops, realizing how big the Wubbox is. She only got to the knee of the Wubbox.
“You finally came!” The Wubbox’s voice boomed from above. It surprised Tootoo, almost knocking her to the ground. “In that case, you’re here to ask about the titan, huh?” The Wubbox sits in a classic criss-cross-apple-sauce. It puts its hands on its knee, and leans over, looming over Tootoo.
Fiddlement and ghazt catch up. Fiddlement realizes how tall the Wubbox is too, even sitting down. “Woah, so this is the Wubbox.” Shocked at first, but realizing this is a monster as well. “So how can I help?” The Subbox seemed happy to answer any questions. “Well, I already know! About the titan waking up. Er, but I’m not exactly sure about that.”
“Oh,” Tootoo said, disappointed. The monster that supposedly had almost all answers to any questions, didn’t have this one. “But, after doing some digging here, I have released, that there might be answers around here!” The Wubbox tries to give them hope, which works. “Where?” Tootoo pops up. “I believe the cave system has it!”
“Wait, Wubbox, you need to know, the caves are heavily restricted. They’re dangerous.” Ghazt interrupts the conversation.
“I understand your concerns, but it could seriously help us.”
“You’re bringing children into there too, a place where there have been no reports of some monsters coming back! We don’t even do diamond mining anymore!”
“I’ll bring them if they want to, I’m not forcing them!” The Wubbox got annoyed but Ghazt.
The magical 2 watches as this argument unfolds. “Should we even go?” Asks fiddlement to Tootoo. “We made it all this way. I think we’re brave enough, right?” Tootoo smiles. Fiddlememt agrees.
“Ok, you guys, break it up!” Tootoo yells at them. Wubbox gives ghazt a death stare, Ghazt gives one back. “I think we’re ready to go into these caves.”
“Tootoo, I don’t think you understand the dangers of those caves.” Ghazt tries to convey Tootoo. “I think I do, and I think I’m ready to go.” Tootoo seemed confident enough. “I won’t stop you, but if you die, don’t blame anyone but yourself.” Ghazt sighs. Tootoo punches the air, repeatedly saying yes. She settles down, and looks at the wubbox. They’re ready.

wubbox headcanons and whatnot
already posted this on ao3 buuuut it’s probably better off here dfjsjf! might change or add things in the future but here’s some headcanon/worldbuilding stuff that applies to the wubbgang universe and characters
There are currently three generations of wubboxes that have been created over the years:
Gen 1 wubboxes are the ones who were directly created by Galvana itself, including the first “prototypes” and the ones sent to aid in powering the Natural Islands post-Cataclysm. Only 10 or so were created in total, but as of today only one is still alive and functional.
Gen 2 wubboxes are the modern-day Common Wubboxes. After the deactivation of most of the first-gens, the monsters of the Natural Islands used the original blueprints to create several new batches of eggs, which were later awoken during the present day. By extension, this includes the Epic Wubboxes, which are “evolved” versions of commons that were left to incubate deeper in the elemental island vault.
Gen 3 wubboxes are the Rare Wubboxes. Originating from a common wubbox who discovered interdimensional travel and augmented itself based on human technology, this individual created and distributed blueprints based on its new design to the rest of the monster world, leading to the spread of Rare Wubboxes. Supposedly this first Rare originated from Plant Island and now resides on Ethereal Island, but no one’s entirely sure at this point.
Many of the materials used for the first-gen wubboxes were lost post-Cataclysm, leading the denizens of the Natural Islands to substitute resources from their home environments. Due to this, each island’s batch of wubboxes is slightly different in construction. Commons and Epics from the same island consider each other family, but ones from different islands tend to have different relationships. This also applies to Rare Wubboxes; these are categorized as an entirely different species to the other classes, due to their fundamentally different construction and lack of the signature power cores that power Commons and Epics.
Rare Wubboxes have a natural tendency to stutter and “glitch” when speaking, repeating syllables or entire words at times. The level of glitchiness increases when they are excited or speaking quickly, and can be decreased for clarity by speaking slowly.
Wubbox power cores contain the electrical life force that fuels each individual and holds their body parts together. These cores can be removed for a short period of time, but if separated from the main body for long enough, it will cause the wubbox’s electrical parts to dissipate and retreat back into the core. While incredibly durable, in extreme cases these cores can be cracked or shattered, damaging or even killing the wubbox itself. A damaged core can result in vocal or physical glitching, difficulty keeping its form intact, or other disabilities.
Wubboxes must regularly replace their mechanical parts due to them wearing down from the constant electrical current running through them. The only exceptions are the eyes and mouth, which are the most organic parts of the wubbox and are only replaced in extreme circumstances. Despite being mechanical, the eye sockets are not often replaced either, as they are one of the least active pieces and tend to not get worn out even after long periods of time.
Due to the fact that their parts can be easily swapped out for new ones, some wubboxes will create custom body parts or even entirely new forms that they can inhabit by transferring their power core into the new structure.
Some wubboxes will make a low static crackling noise when content, similar to how cats or some other feline monsters purr. This only really occurs when they are comfortable and relaxed around close friends and loved ones.

does anyone play any instrument? and if so, what? do any of them absolutely suck at it?
well, they don't really suck on their own, but some of the wubs aren't always the best at cooperating with the rest of the family. :^)
anyway, to specify their actual instruments, here's a little list:
vocals: brump, whajje, blipsqueak, maulch, screemu, dermit (duh!)
bass: thwok (their favorite bass is an e-bass!)
drum kit: dwumrohl, tympa, bona & petite (their drum kit is self-assembled and tailored to their own musical number!)
cymbals: scargo (they own loads of sizes. like... LOADS.)
saxophone: gheegur
flute: fleechwurm (various kinds among others)
organ: poewk (also plays kalimba, actually)
synth keyboard: zynth, astropod
launchpad: wubbox, pixolotl (loads meme sound effects on her launchpad to annoy everyone)
kazoo: zuuker.
...creepuscule doesn't exactly play any specific instrument, but she does have a really good sense of rhythm and tempo so she likes to improvise a beat to lead the rest!

The Wubbros meeting Cypress.
Axel has really bad anxiety-
Edit: Cypress is basically walking around with its internal mechanisms exposed, as seen with the huge tear in its chest. To Wubbox, and other robotic monsters, that would be the equivalent of seeing someone walking around with their organs hanging out.

hi! any screemu hcs if i may ask? wublins are my faves as well :]
Eeeee!!! Of course!
Since Screemu doesn’t have ears, they’re oblivious to everything around them. All the Wublins had to learn sigh language to “talk” to Screemu, to make sure they’re not left out on anything. For not having ears, Screemu speak pretty well. Still slurs they’re words sometimes.
They can’t walk well, it’s like a seal but not bulky, also has to hold someone’s hand, that being Whajje’s. They get lost A LOT. Like Wubbox, Screemu is an artist as well. They work with wood and branches, lots of wood cravings and thick ribbons.
Poewk secondary tune from its organ sounds like Screemu for a reason. It’s vibration let’s Screemu now when it sing during the song.
To other besides the Wublins, Screemu mannerism is creepy. Like horror movie creepy. But keep in mind that Screemu is very shy and doesn’t know they’re being creepy.

ok u know what. *organics your robots*
spec bio wubbox concepts because why not! lore and rambling under the cut:
The Wubbox is an ancient species of monster dating back to the Dawn of Fire. Presumed to be extinct post-cataclysm, several caves full of dormant eggs have been found in the present day, and the species has once again become widespread in monster society. Loud, powerful, and somewhat territorial, they served as guardians of pre-contemporary monster tribes, and were regarded as gifts from the Celestials.
pic explanations
1. sketch of an adult wubbox, with different textures/components labeled. they are mostly covered in armor-like scales that are shed periodically; these can be replaced/upgraded by artificial parts, and are often repurposed into armor and instruments by other monsters.
2. sketch of a wubbox hatchling + notes:
- Baby teeth are sparse but very sharp, can and will eat almost anything (young wubboxes are notoriously ravenous, which lead to the myth that they eat other monsters)
- Protective cap over chest “speaker” (see image 4), falls off after a few weeks
- Long, fluffy fur for retaining warmth
- Simple armor plates that are shed several times while growing; initial set is made of eggshell parts that fuse onto the hatchling’s body
- Bioluminescent markings do not appear until adulthood
3. “blushing” wubbox; when flustered, their under-eye plates retract slightly, exposing patches of fur on their cheeks. these patches, like the rest of their fur, is bioluminescent, and is similar in texture to fiber optic lights
4. rough respiratory system diagram. they have very large lungs with a sort of dual output system; when speaking or “singing”, air passes through their larynx and into a hollow cavity in their chest covered by an eardrum-like membrane that functions like a speaker. this amplifies their voice and creates their signature booming roars.
5. side view of a wubbox’s head + skull concept. their mouths are full of large, flat teeth, with a diet consisting of vegetation and processed foods.
6. earth epic concept. in this scenario, “epic” wubboxes are the result of eggs being stored in certain environments for prolonged periods of time and developing specific adaptations for said environments; for example, an earth epic would be created by keeping an egg buried in volcanic ash, in/near magma, or just in a high temperature environment.
an earth epic’s horns are hollow tubes developed from their eye plates, which grow out to cover their nostrils completely; these horns are the output of a built-in air purification function in its respiratory system that filters the ash and smoke it breathes in and ejects the contaminants in mist clouds.
7. air epic concept + notes
- Large eyes and angled under-eye plates
- Wingtips are notched like an eagle’s (air epics are very fast and agile fliers, being smaller and more lightweight than others of their species)
- “Nostrils”/air output valves on their wrists; purpose unknown (these are mainly used to emit train whistle-like shrieks for communication, but why they exist is a mystery)
- Body armor plates are replaced by smaller, feather-like scales
8. lol bald eagle
extra note bc i haven’t designed the rare versions yet: “rare” wubboxes are the result of experimentation on a common individual in an effort to “improve” the species for the modern age; all current rares are clones of the first successful specimen

okay fine i know it's been like 300 years. have some wubbox content
these 3 (or 5, depending on the head count) are the ethereal island sibs! one family of few remaining wubs from the pre-cataclysm era, they're associated with the five ethereal elements/celestials (chimera = crystal, plasma, and shadow, matrix = mech, and zyphur = poison)
more info under the cut!
first pic is Chimera (they/it), the "epic wubbox" of ethereal island! after a less-than-smooth journey through the pocket dimension, chimera's components unfortunately didn't survive in one piece; matrix, ever resourceful, decided the best course of action would be to reassemble them using what parts were left intact as well as some organic material from their respective elemental monsters. chimera isn't exactly happy to be back, especially in this form, but matrix still holds this "favor" as an excuse to get chimera to do their bidding.
chimera's three components each control different senses, with some being more... intact than others.
Eekto, the plasma head, controls most of the main body and acts as the "eyes". it can't speak or eat very well due to the constant stream of plasma dripping from its mouth, and its tattered ears are purely vestigial.
Nock, the shadow head, is the one in charge of speech, eating, and hearing, being the least obstructed of the three. its wing-like ears give it a decent sense of hearing, but its eyes- built for a nocturnal lifestyle- are pretty much useless in most environments.
Fraktal, the crystal head, is... most likely dead. it doesn't respond to any sort of external stimuli, and appears to be actively decaying in some parts. for some reason, though, the other two don't seem to notice this, instead acting as if it's still alive.
next up is Matrix (they/them), a self-proclaimed "engineering genius" and the first rare wubbox in existence! they're the creator of all the natural island rares (hence why the all look the same), but they aren't exactly as benevolent as they seem; less "innovator" and more "mad scientist with a god complex". unnervingly, matrix's face seems to be stuck in a permanent, blank-eyed smile, luring new "potential test subjects" in with a friendly facade before re-making them into... god knows what, really. a majority of their creations never see the light of day, hidden somewhere in the ethereal island castle. thankfully most monsters are already aware of their shady and egotistical behavior, and tend to stay away. fun (questionable?) fact: matrix's extra arms are made with spare parts left over from chimera's components.
finally there's Zyphur (it/its), the small doodle on the far left of the last sketch. i haven't drawn it properly yet but it's the only common wubbox on ethereal island left. it tends to distance itself from its siblings out of fear, having bore witness to chimera's death and "rebirth" alongside countless other crimes against monsterkind performed by matrix. i dunno. i havent developed its character much all i know that it's verrry traumatized
#oc#my singing monsters#wubbox#sketch#body horror cw#bioengineering malpractice and monster-made horrors beyond comprehension! yay! *jazz hands*#i love making fucked up characters for wholesome media

woe, gay robots be upon ye
some wubbox characters ive been working on lately! here’s Deej and Bebop (both it/its), the common and rare wubbox of Earth Island! Deej is naturally mute, making it somewhat of an outcast among monsters, especially on top of its unusual Supernatural status. Bebop is its best friend and one-sided crush.
pictured here are their “walkaround” forms which makes it easier for them to interact with other non-supernatural monsters; bebop’s is pretty much the same robotic appearance as its normal form, while deej’s has more organic bits incorporated into it (fur, paw pads) in order to better blend in with others, inspired specifically by the werdos.
more info under the cut!
Deej facts:
communicates solely in Monstrous sign language (MSL)
the most recently awoken wubbox on its island, reversing the traditional order (common > rare > epic)
contributes only percussion to the island song, but is still ashamed that it can’t make the bass sounds that its species is known for
has blue eyes instead of the usual red, plus one single fang on its lower jaw
Bebop facts:
color level gauge on its lower torso indicates fullness; its favorite food, like many other wubbox, is cookies
friendly and curious personality, but often oblivious
can switch out the record in its chest; lacks the signature life-core that other wubbox classes have (this applies to all rare wubs in this universe)
has rectangular irises and a cut beneath its left eye, which it has no recollection of getting
the extra little doodles below the refs are of bebop + deej and just bebop respectively
bonus (sorry)

Wubbox Headcanons!!! by me... hee hee
Wubbox electricity normally does not hurt, and rather, touching it creates the feeling of needles on your skin, or like pop rocks! If you were to try to push into the electricity, you may feel something alike the feeling of magnets repelling one another, not quite tangible, but it cannot be passed through.
As well as this, wubboxes can have a resistance to water. Those that I believe share this trait are Water, Plant, and Cold.
When a wubbox with a water resistance makes contact with water, the electricity mellows out to a wavy curve, creating a small barrier to protect the energy from being released.
This is somewhat similar to holding your breath, as the electric veins may be the equivalent. For wubboxes without a water resistance, water does cause great pain and it is recommended they do not touch water.
Plant wubbox is partially living.
Yes, I do believe that plant wubboxes are partially a living organism, and they can do a lot of similar things that plants do. They have digestive system. When a plant wubbox consumes food, it is essentially boxed into the core and broken down.
The electricity that flows through the electric veins delivers the minerals, vitamins, and hydration to the living parts. The front side of its chest where his ribcage is located is not alive, and neither is anything below there. But the arms, the branches on it's back, and the horns/antlers are living. The living parts can send messages to the wubbox's head that tell him what it is missing, if it is hungry, and if they ate something bad. All that info comes in the electricity.
This also means they can barf and can overeat, undereat, dehydrate, and other ailments. They may even become sick or have parasites like bugs or fungi.
Some plant wubboxes can undergo dormancy, exhibiting traits of deciduous trees, and loses leaves in winter, only for them to regrow in spring.
This is more of a personal headcanon for me, but because the plant wubbox is partially a living tree, what it consumes is for the growth and healing of the bark and leaves. Sap replaces the blood in it's body, and it is extremely sweet due to increased metabolism and is its source of energy beside the energy from the core.
Water wubbox was built for the sea!
I think that water wubboxes can change their buoyancy underwater by absorbing the oxygen in the water itself. They can release air so it can sink in the form of, you guessed it, bubbles. It's really quite interesting to think that even when a water wubbox is down deep below the sea with an empty chest, it can still come back up with ease despite it's weight.
They have the ability to give other monsters air bubbles so it can take them to their favorite spots underwater, and because this wubbox can collect the oxygen from the water around it, they don't suffocate.
It can give other wubboxes who can't touch water some of it's energy, which is water-resistant. It only lasts for about an hour or so, though. But a quick exchange within the hour refreshes it. This means that wubboxes who usually have a painful response to water have those effected negated.
That's all I have for now.. i shall come back around if i have more.. thank u for reading

tee hee! Origin story on my cold wubbox, Ice! Here's a tiny teaser !!!
The places where the ice once used to be was now only made up of the remaining metal skeleton of a normal wubbox, almost entirely stripping him of his crown, leaving only three short stumps where the tallest points stood. As for his chest.. there was nothing left. The core no longer had a section of the wubbox to call home. There was no electricity, and the core sat completely alone in the ground, the damp soil surrounding it was frozen. Nearby, a monster seemed to be approaching. Trudging through the fine soil, a congle walked by, one of the rare variety. He had a drum repurposed into a bag that slung over his back, and his wings seemed tattered, ripped, and worn beyond use. The wind blew through his bright, orange fur as he stood at the foot of the wubbox, looking it over. He kicked the arm of it, but to no avail. The wubbox lay still...
"H.. hello?"
He said, glancing about weakly.
"What are you?"
Asked the congle, looking down at the wubbox's head, but seemingly not surprised in the slightest.
The wubbox did not respond. The congle asked again, but a little louder.
"What are you? What's wrong with you?"
The wubbox set its head on its cheek to face him better. He felt so weak.. and so sore..
"I don't.. know."
Like where this is goin!!??! then check out my awesome little story im working on! tee hee!!!!!!
