Lavender
Lavandula officinalis
Known as: Elf leaf, nard, nardus & spike
Related plants: A member of the mint family Lamiaceae, there are genus of 47 known species of lavender. It includes well known plants such basil, mint, rosemary, sage, savory, marjoram, oregano, hyssop, thyme, lavender, and perilla, as well as catnip, salvia, bee balm, wild dagga & oriental motherwort.
Parts used: Flowers
Habitat and cultivation: This flowering plant is native to the the Mediterranean
Plant type: Perennial
Region: Most are hardy from Zones 5 to 9 | Spanish Lavender (L. stoechas) is only hardy in Zones 7 to 9.
Harvest: You can harvest all the budding spikes or flowers on your plant during the growing season but avoid cutting into woody growth. Don't want to take more than 1/3 of the plant at this time & limiting your harvest to flowers and buds should keep you within recommended limits. As first frost approaches, snip off woody, leafy stems & branching. You can safely take up to 2/3 of the plant at this time. Harvesting too early can stimulate more growth which you don't want since the lavender is moving into winter dormancy.
Growing tips: To grow lavender successfully it needs well-drained soil, full sun & may be a good idea to check the PH beforehand because soil too acidic may kill off your plants. It survives well in dry conditions, so you'll only have to water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Plant lavender in spring, once all chances of frost have passed. This beautiful, fragrant herb is a great addition to raised beds, in-ground gardens, and growing in containers spacing plants 12 to 18 inches apart.
Medicinal information: Taking lavender products by mouth, including teas and a specific oil supplement or inhaling lavender oil as aromatherapy, seem to reduce symptoms of depression & anxiety. Lavender oil is believed to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to heal & burns & bug bites. Some studies suggest that consuming lavender as a tea can help digestive issues such as vomiting, nausea, intestinal gas, upset stomach, & abdominal swelling. A study published in the Journal of Medical Microbiology found that lavender oil could be effective in combating antifungal-resistant infections. Using it as aromatherapy can also reduce colic symptoms & menstrual cramp pain.
Cautions: Lavender essential oil is possibly safe when inhaled as aromatherapy, but applying products that contain lavender oil to the skin is possibly unsafe for young cis males who haven't reached puberty. The oil seems to have hormone-like effects that could disrupt normal hormones & in some cases, this has resulted in breast growth.
Lavender might cause sleepiness and slowed breathing. Taking lavender with sedative medications might cause breathing problems and/or too much sleepiness.
Lavender might slow down the central nervous system. If used with anesthesia and other medications given during and after surgery, it might slow down the central nervous system too much. Stop using lavender at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery.

CONGREGATION OF MIDDAY, FAITH IN THE SUN
OVERVIEW
The Congregation of Midday is a religion that originated from the dark underground labyrinths of Lamai Nation. It was founded by humans who grew sickly from the lack of sunlight, so they began performing sun-worshiping rituals to heal themselves. Over time, these rituals expanded into a whole lifestyle and religious ideology.
Followers of this religion are called Middayists. The religion itself is sometimes called Middayism. Its symbol represents Luzkuro’s darkness on one side and Solahi’s light on the other.
While this religion began in southern Wokina, its followers have brought it to other regions over time. Middayist ideology is a hard sell in sunny regions, but has caught on in cold, dark regions such as the Shrieking Mountains and Waterwalk. Today, most Middayists can be found in Wokina and northern Noalen, but small populations exist on other continents as well. Followers are quite diverse in species, but it’s rare to see Middayist trolls, gorgons, cecaelia, or dworfs. It’s no coincidence that these species are sensitive to sunlight, and this religion requires rituals that are difficult for them to perform.
MIDDAYIST BELIEFS
-The sun is a goddess called Solahi. This goddess gave life to all things upon Gaia and beyond, and continues to foster life. She can be equally benevolent and wrathful.
-Darkness is a malevolent god called Luzkuro. He slowly drains life from everything he touches. He is an unholy harbinger of sickness and death.
-Gaia is not a sentient being. It is only a dead rock, but Solahi has allowed life to grow upon it.
-Sunlight is holy. Heat is nurturing. Fire is purifying. Darkness is an unholy substance that must be cleansed with light each day.
-Pyriads are holy daughters of Solahi, worthy of reverence and tribute. To harm a pyriad is a sin.
-Fungus is the “Mark of Luzkuro”, a signal that his unholy energy has infested an area. It must be cleansed from living spaces and should not be consumed for food until it has been purified by light and flame.
-The dead should be burned so that Luzkuro cannot claim them. The souls of the cremated will ascend to the Realm of Light, while the souls of those left to decay will sink into the Realm of Darkness.
-Sunlight is a gift from Solahi, which she offers out of love. Those who become greedy and take too much from her will be punished with sunburns. Those with sunburns are forbidden from receiving her gift again until the burn fades.
-Fish, egg yolks, and mushrooms (purified only) are sacred foods blessed by Solahi and should be consumed daily for good health. Garlic, coconut oil, oregano, ginger, cinnamon, citrus, onion, and chili peppers are also considered healthy by Middayist doctrine. Conversely, cheese, yogurt, beer, wine, and most fermented foods should be avoided because they are tainted by Luzkuro, and cannot be purified by Solahi’s holy flame.
-Cleanliness and holiness are one and the same. Keeping a clean person and environment is of utmost importance. Filthiness is a sin. Followers should wash themselves each day to please Solahi and keep Luzkuro away.
-Sleeping on the floor is an invitation for Luzkuro’s influence. Followers should sleep in cots, hammocks, or otherwise be elevated at least a hand’s length off the ground.
-Followers should show respect to their bodies by avoiding toxic substances such as alcohol and recreational drugs. Tattoos, piercings, and cosmetic surgeries are forbidden, as they offer unnecessary opportunities for infection.
MIDDAYIST RITUALS AND HOLIDAYS
MIDDAY WORSHIP: Followers congregate for an hour each day around noon to worship Solahi. They begin by stripping naked and going outside, so that the sunlight may directly touch their skin. They perform specific poses while they chant, ensuring that every inch of their skin is blessed by Solahi’s holy light. This segment of the ritual may last anywhere from 10-30 minutes, depending on how much sunlight is available that day.
Afterwards, followers put their clothes back on and begin the Feasting Ceremony, where they eat mushrooms, egg yolks, and fish. They believe that mushrooms are an unholy product of Luzkuro, but offer health benefits after being purified by Solahi. Middayists purify the mushrooms by cooking them over an open flame while they pray.
The most devout followers never miss a Midday Worship at their local church, but casual Middayists commonly attend just 2 or 3 of them a week, or simply perform the ritual at home.
This ritual may be performed differently depending on the region. Followers in cold regions, for example, usually do not remove all of their clothes for sun worship; instead exposing their faces only. Vegetarian followers exclude fish from their feasting ritual, while carnivores exclude mushrooms. Vegans exclude both fish and egg yolks, and only eat mushrooms.
SOLAHI’S GREETING: Each morning at sunrise, Middayists greet Solahi by striking a match and saying a prayer. The flaming match is believed to purify Luzkuro’s dark energy that has taken hold during the night. Before eating or doing anything else, a Middayist’s first act of the day should be to wash themselves.
SOLAHI’S GOODBYE: Each evening at sunset, Middayists bid Solahi goodnight by singing a specific hymn and cleaning their sleeping area. Typically this is done by flipping their mattress and pillow, shaking out blankets, and sweeping the floor. Any mold or filth should be removed immediately, as sleeping among Luzkuro’s influence will bring an early death.
52 CLEANSINGS: On the last day of every week, Middayists clean their living space from top to bottom. Once their environment is clean, they finish the ritual by washing themselves with purified water (water which is boiled with herbs and then cooled). These weekly cleansings add up to 52 per year. Each successful cleansing pleases Solahi, while sloppy or missed cleansings give power to Luzkuro.
SEASONAL FASTING: A seasonal fast is done 4 times per year, on the first day of each new season. On these days, Middayists fast for 24 hours, drinking only clear liquids like water and broths. This ritual is said to cleanse the body from the inside. More devout followers are known to take laxatives to purge their bowels more thoroughly.
YEAR’S END: On the last day of the year, Middayists don pure white robes and congregate at their local church to honor Solahi with a large bonfire, where they burn cleansing herbs. The specific herbs may differ by region, but sage, lavender, and peppermint are common. Each Middayist writes down their sins, fears, and sources of stress on a paper card and throws it into the fire to cleanse their souls for the new year. The illiterate instead speak these things to the card.
The ceremony lasts from sunrise to sunset. During this time there is much dancing, singing, burning, and feasting upon sacred foods. At sunset, the big fire is finally extinguished with purified water.
CULTURE
Middayists are stereotyped as physically fit, health-conscious, and meticulously clean people. Some outsiders consider them to be neurotic, obsessive over their health, and obnoxious about their cleaning habits. Some Middayists look down upon non-Middayists, considering them filthy because they do not meet their religious standard of cleanliness. They can be seen as “stuck-up” for avoiding drugs, alcohol, and body modifications.
Cleanliness is a big theme in Middayist doctrine because this religion was born from the dark, damp, Lamaish labyrinths, where many species do not fare well. Mold, disease, and vitamin deficiencies are serious dangers in this underground environment, so humans and other susceptible peoples had to take great measures to survive here. By incorporating good health and cleaning into religious practices, they were able to thrive.
The Middayists’ strict diet and daily sun exposure protects them from vitamin D deficiency, while their rigorous cleaning protects them from dust and mold. Not all Middayists live in underground labyrinths like the Lamaish, but these practices are also helpful for those in wet, dreary climates.
Lamaish Middayists tend to take their religious practices more seriously, as they live in a less forgiving environment than most people. Followers outside this region are largely more casual about their rituals.
Many Middayist rituals and beliefs are incompatible with those of Vermists. As a result, there are many conflicts between the two groups. This conflict is most apparent in Lamai Nation, which has large populations of Middayists and Vermists living in close quarters.

Hi dear, I'm super curious would you please explain what your body care/hygiene routine is like? Product recommendations especially for 😺? Also do you do body detox/parasite cleansing? Just curious!
Ooo. Anyone here will tell you that I don’t bathe sometimes. 😂😂😂 I’ve actually admitted this to my followers before. 😂
On a serious note, I shower constantly when I’m working and seeing clients. I don’t have a special shower routine. I use a fluffy scrubby and a shower gel that smells good to me (currently using a Sol Janeiro dupe from Sam’s Club and an “oat milk” shower gel by Dove, both which smell really nice).
I don’t do any special skin brushing or scrubbing with a loofah. But, I’ve had a few clients say that my skin is soft, probably because of the jojoba oil I apply before appointments.
For the cat, I always use Dove unscented soap and try my best not to get perfumed shower gel on the rag I wash my privates with. I’m so adamant about washing with unscented soap down there that I carry a bar with me when seeing clients.
As far as kitty hygiene goes, I don’t do anything special. I wear cotton brief panties. I only wear thongs with clients and never at home. To maintain balance down below, I focus on diet more than anything. I don’t eat foods with added sugars and I’m carb-free. Mainly starch-free as well (no potatoes or corn). I don’t drink soda, sugary coffees, or fruit juices either. I only drink tea, black coffee, and water. Refined sugar is the damned devil as far as I’m concerned.
I don’t do any special herbal cleanses, at least, not anymore. However, oil of oregano is good for clearing fungal overgrowth in the gut. I don’t know if oil of oregano does the same for bacterial overgrowth. Wormwood extract is good for cleaning out parasites. I would use it in my early twenties and late teens and, if I remember correctly, once the parasites start leaving the body, your booty hole will itch a little. Milk thistle is good for liver support.
If you get into oil of oregano, be careful with the stuff because not everyone tolerates it well and the pure stuff will feel like it’s burning a hole in your stomach.
A lot of women swear by boric acid suppositories when dealing with funky smells down below. I actually used to use them but I took a long break after I used one and bled a little. It may not have necessarily been the suppository that caused the bleeding but I stopped for a while just in case.
I’m actually dealing with a yeast infection right now from rolling around in massage gel and I bought 600mg boric acid capsules just today. In case the dosage was too high, I opened a capsule and dumped out half the powder before shoving it up there. Hopefully, it do what it supposed to do! I used the capsule a few hours ago and the odor is already going away.

Nail Fungus: Causes, Symptoms, and Effective Treatments
Nail fungus, also known as onychomycosis, is a common condition that affects the nails, making them thick, discolored, and brittle. It often starts as a small white or yellow spot under the tip of the nail and can spread deeper, causing the nail to crumble. This condition can be challenging to treat, but with the right approach, you can restore your nails to their healthy state.
What Causes Nail Fungus?
Nail fungus is primarily caused by a group of fungi called dermatophytes. These fungi thrive in warm, moist environments like public swimming pools, showers, and locker rooms. Other factors that increase the risk of developing nail fungus include:
Poor hygiene: Not keeping your nails clean and dry.
Nail injuries: Cuts or cracks in the nails or surrounding skin.
Weakened immune system: Conditions like diabetes or poor circulation.
Frequent exposure to water: Damp conditions can make nails more susceptible to infections.
Symptoms of Nail Fungus
Recognizing the signs of nail fungus early is crucial for effective treatment. Common symptoms include:
Discoloration (white, yellow, brown, or black)
Thickened or brittle nails
Distorted nail shape
Foul odor from the affected nail
Separation of the nail from the nail bed
Effective Treatments for Nail Fungus
Treating nail fungus can be a lengthy process, but there are several methods to manage and eliminate the infection. Here are some effective treatments:
Topical Antifungal Creams and Ointments: Over-the-counter antifungal creams can be applied directly to the affected nail. Popular options include clotrimazole and terbinafine. Make sure to follow the instructions for the best results.
Oral Antifungal Medications: For more severe cases, doctors may prescribe oral antifungal drugs like terbinafine (Lamisil) or itraconazole (Sporanox). These medications help new, healthy nails grow free from infection, gradually replacing the infected parts.
Natural Remedies: Many people prefer natural solutions to treat nail fungus. Essential oils like tea tree oil, oregano oil, and lavender oil have antifungal properties. Applying these oils can help inhibit the growth of the fungus. Make sure to dilute them with a carrier oil before use.
Laser Treatment: Laser therapy is a newer treatment that uses focused light to target and kill the fungus. Though it can be effective, it tends to be more expensive and is not always covered by insurance.
Preventive Measures:
Keep your nails trimmed and clean.
Avoid walking barefoot in public places.
Choose breathable shoes and moisture-wicking socks.
Disinfect nail tools regularly.

Natural Remedies and Home Treatments for Fungal Nail Infections: Separating Fact and Fiction
Introduction:
Fungal nail infections, also known as onychomycosis, are a prevalent illness that affects millions of individuals worldwide. They develop as a result of fungal infiltration of the nail bed, which causes brittleness, thickness, and discoloration. Despite the fact that chronic infections can be difficult to cure and persistent, many people use home remedies and natural therapies. Do they, however, genuinely function? In order to sort truth from fantasy, let's investigate some of the most well-liked choices and look at the science underlying them.
1. Tea Tree Oil: Reality
Tea tree oil is a well-known essential oil that has strong antifungal and antibacterial effects. It is effective in treating fungal infections, especially mild to moderate instances of onychomycosis, according to several studies. Active ingredients like terpinen-4-ol have the ability to stop fungus development and enhance the look of nails. • To use, dilute tea tree oil with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil, and apply directly to the afflicted nail twice daily. Keep up your consistency because it can take a few months to see benefits. • Scientific Support: According to a research in the Journal of Family Practice, there are situations where using 100% tea tree oil works just as well as over-the-counter antifungal medications.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar: A fictitious remedy
Because of its acidic properties, apple cider vinegar (ACV) is frequently praised as a home cure for a variety of illnesses. Although some people think it can kill fungus by changing the pH of the nail and the skin around it, there isn't much scientific data to back up its efficacy in treating fungal nail infections. • How to Use: It's suggested by many to soak the afflicted nails for half an hour every day in a solution made of equal parts ACV and water. • Scientific Backing: Although ACV may have antibacterial qualities, there is less evidence to support its effectiveness in treating fungal nail infections. It is unlikely to get rid of the fungus, but it could help soften nails and lessen Odour.
3. Vicks VapoRub: Fact (with Limitations)
Surprisingly, Vicks the VapoRub, a mentholated topical lotion, has demonstrated efficacy in treating fungal nail infections. Some of its components, such as camphor and menthol, have some degree of antifungal activity. Applying Vicks VapoRub to diseased nails may eventually enhance appearance and slow the spread of fungi, according to a few modest studies. • How to Use: Bandage the injured nail overnight after applying a tiny dose of Vicks. Do this every day. • Scientific Support: A 48-week research in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine revealed that 83% of Vicks users had changes in their nail look; nevertheless, total removal of the infection is not certain.
4. Baking Pop: Untruth
Because of its capacity to absorb moisture and inhibit the growth of fungi, baking soda is frequently promoted as a natural cure. Its ability to actively cure pre-existing infections is unknown, while it could aid in avoiding fungal infections by keeping the region dry. • How to Use: It's common advice to mix baking soda and water to make a paste, which should then be applied to the affected nail. Soaking the afflicted nail in a solution of baking soda and water is an additional choice. • Scientific Basis: Although baking soda may theoretically have some antifungal qualities, there isn't much evidence to support its efficacy in treating fungal nail infections.
5. Oregano Oil: A Partial Fact
Thymol, an antifungal substance found in oregano oil, has the ability to stop the growth of fungi. Anecdotal evidence points to potential advantages, however study on the subject is still in its early stages, and treatment efficacy may be inferior to that of alternative options. • To use, dilute oregano oil with carrier oil and apply to affected nails daily. • Scientific Support: Although oregano oil's antifungal properties were shown in a research published in the Journal of Applied Microbiology, it hasn't been thoroughly investigated in relation to nail infections.
6. Garlic: Fiction
Garlic is well-known for its antifungal and antibacterial effects, which are attributed to the component allicin. While it may be useful in specific infections, such as athlete's foot, it is ineffective in treating more chronic fungal infections, such as onychomycosis. • Application Methods: Crushed garlic can be applied directly to the afflicted nail, or nails can be soaked in oil flavored with garlic. • Scientific Basis: Although garlic may have antifungal properties in a laboratory context, there is insufficient clinical data to support garlic's effectiveness in treating fungal nail infections.
7. Coconut Oil: Reality (as a prophylactic precaution)
Caprylic acid, found in coconut oil, has inherent antifungal qualities. It may not be potent enough to cure current fungal infections, but it can serve as a barrier that prevents fungus from spreading to healthy nails. • How to Use: Every day, dab a little coconut oil over the skin around your nails. It works very well when used with other antifungal medications. • Scientific Backing: Coconut oil has antifungal characteristics, especially against Candida species. However, there is minimal study on its effectiveness for treating nail fungus. It works best when utilized in addition to other treatments.
8. Hydrogen Peroxide: Untrue (for nails with fungus)
Hydrogen peroxide is a common household disinfectant that is frequently marketed as a cure for fungal diseases. While it can destroy certain fungi on surfaces or in skin abrasions, its efficacy in treating nail fungus is debated.
• How to Use: Some advice using hydrogen peroxide straight to the damaged nails or soaking nails in a diluted solution.
• Scientific Support: Although hydrogen peroxide is unlikely to pierce far into the nail bed, where the fungus lives, it could aid in disinfecting the nail's surface. There is not enough evidence to back its claim that it can treat fungal nail infections.
Final thoughts
Natural therapies can provide comfort and, in some situations, assist control fungal infections; however, they are not always successful on their own. For persistent or severe diseases, combining home remedies with professional medical care may produce the greatest outcomes.
Conclusion:
Natural remedies and home treatments for fungal nail infections can be used as part of a larger treatment strategy, but they are not cure-alls. You may set reasonable expectations and make well-informed judgements if you are aware of the facts underlying each solution. Whether you use home treatments or seek expert assistance, patience and consistency are essential for attaining healthy, clean nails.

Things nobody tells you when you get diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency so I'm gonna tell you:
Invest in a blood pressure monitor and a blood sugar checker. This has made it way easier for me to discern if I need to take more medication or not, or if I'm starting to go into an adrenal crisis. If my blood pressure and blood sugar are low, I know i need more Hydrocortisone. A thermometer is also a good thing to keep around.
Speaking of which, your blood sugar may be low in the morning until you take your meds. It's absolutely okay to start ur day with something sugary.
The time between waking up and taking ur meds is going to really suck. Cortisol used to wake you up, it won't anymore. Your meds will.
You absolutely should be put on omeprazole (other some other ppi) once you're put on Hydrocortisone. Otherwise the pills cause ur stomach to produce too much acid and it causes problems (I know... for reasons).
Avoid stress as much as possible. Avoid too much heat, people who are sick, too much exertion. Get enough sleep. Stay hydrated. Eat enough. Anything that can stress ur body out will cause you to need more cortisol (or in this case, hydrocortisone) to deal with it.
Do not. ReUse towels multiple times before washing them. Thank me later when you're not constantly dealing with skin infections (acne, boils, etc). Don't use other people's towels.
On that note, don't sit on directly on public toilet seats. Use the toilet seat protectors some places have and if they don't, use toilet paper to sit. This includes at your work. I get boils whenever I sit on a toilet that is used by too many people without doing this because my immune system is weakened.
Don't share drinks with other people. Your body can't fight off infections as easily, especially not once on Hydrocortisone.
You have to be cautious about being in large crowds. Wear a mask! And carry around hand sanitizer.
You might be infertile.
Use a nail brush to clean the sides and underneath parts of ur nails where dirt builds up. Be careful when trimming your nails. Again. Easily get infections. This will reduce that. Fingernail infections are like, my most frequent infection I get now. I've found releif with PRID salve from Hyland naturals (I'm not usually a natural remedies person, given the whole chronic illn3ss thing, but there's scientific evidence behind multiple of the ingredients in this). I also use hydrogen peroxide beforehand once they start draining (gross i know)
You probably should disinfect any wound you get, normal people don't need to use hibiclense, but I do. If I don't use it, it gets infected. Bacitracin is ur best friend.
You may need to invest in some decent non alcoholic mouthwash. I'll add my favourites here later (one of them is by natural dentist i think? My other fav is one sold at walmart in a solid green bottle). If you struggle with dry mouth biotene is a good option, it also has xylitol so thats a plus. Make sure you're taking care of your oral health. I've had a few oral infections just from minor irritation or accidents like biting my lip, having a good mouthwash has helped me reduce that.
Probiotics are a good idea if you can afford them. Kombucha and kefir are good if you can tolerate them. They have helped me fight off some infections.
DO NOT. TAKE ASHWAGHANDA. (Its in a surprising amount of stress receiving supplements, drinks, gummies, etc.)
There are three kinds of adrenal insufficiency. It's important to know which you have. Also. If you have GI issues or a family history of celiac. Get checked for celiac. Get your thyroid hormones checked as well if you haven't already.
I've had sommee success with Elderberry supplements, echinacea and goldenseal supplements, zinc, high dose vit c, vit d, oregano oil and also ginger and tumeric helping me while I've been sick. There's studies with evidence of these having a positive effect when fighting infection. I only take them short term or when I'm exposed to someone who is super sick (example, exposed to covid by accident). But talk to your doctor before you take anything, especially if ur on other medications.
Keep covid tests around. If you get covid, talk to your doctor right away, you may be able to get something like paxlovid. Which helped me a lot. (Though I personally wish the amount of time they prescribe it for was longer). The process is a little complicated but don't be afraid to ask for it. There's other options available too so, be sure to look into those. I may. Get around to linking information on those eventually lol.
Life isn't over just because you're sick. This all used to be so overwhelming to me but now its ingrained. You've got this!

URINARY TRACT INFECTION HOME REMEDIES
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common infections when bacteria, often from the skin or rectum, enter the urethra and infect the urinary tract. The infections can affect several parts of the urinary tract, but the most common type is a bladder infection (cystitis) and infection in the urethra is urethritis.
Kidney infection (pyelonephritis) is another type of UTI. They’re less common, but more serious than bladder infections.
Risk factors:-
UTIs are more common in females because their urethras are shorter and closer to the rectum. This makes it easier for bacteria to enter the urinary tract. Sometimes the changes in the bacteria that live inside the vagina, or vaginal flora might be the cause. Other factors that increase the risk of UTI are previous infections, age factor, and poor hygiene.
Symptoms:-
Symptoms of a bladder infection can include:
Pain or burning while urinating( dysuria)
Frequent urination
Feeling the need to urinate despite having an empty bladder
Bloody urine (hematuria)
Pressure or cramping in the groin or lower abdomen
Symptoms of a kidney infection can include:
Fever
Chills
Lower back pain or pain in the side of your back
Nausea or vomiting
fatigue
Causes:-
The major cause of Urinary tract infections is E. coli. E.coli causes more than 90% of bladder infections. E.coli typically exists in the large intestine.
Homemade remedies for Urinary tract infections
1. Drink plenty of fluids: Drinking water or fluids throughout the day helps flush bacteria from the system. Just by staying hydrated the pathogens and toxins which cause infections are flushed from the body. It is the best way to get rid of the UTIs fast.
2. Urinate often: When dealing with a UTI, frequent urination will aid in clearing the urethra of bacteria. Keeping urine-borne bacteria in the bladder might worsen UTIs by preventing the urge to urinate. Studies have found that holding urine for a long time allows bacteria to multiply within the urinary tract, resulting in a urinary tract infection.
3. Stay dry and clean: Women should clean properly after the bowel movement. This will ensure that bacteria don’t get into the urethra. We should wear loose-fitting clothes and underwear, which will allow the air to keep the urethra dry. Wearing tight jeans or a material such as nylon can be problematic because the moisture can get trapped.
4. Probiotics: Introducing a probiotic to our system is a great home remedy for UTIs, especially recurring UTIs. It may help replenish the naturally occurring, healthy bacteria that live in the gut. Probiotics may prevent harmful bacteria from attaching to the urinary tract cells, and may also lower the urine pH, making it less hospitable to harmful bacteria.
And, if you have taken an antibiotic to treat a UTI, taking a probiotic is a great way to build up the healthy bacteria that may have been killed during your course of treatment. Eating fermented foods also helps restore the body’s natural flora and recolonize the bladder with helpful bacteria. Some of the healthiest fermented foods include kefir, kimchi, probiotic yogurt, raw cheese, sauerkraut and kombucha.
5. Cranberries: Cranberry juice decreases the number of UTIs a person develops over 12 months, particularly for women with recurrent UTIs. Adding it to the diet may prevent the bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder. This may help reduce bladder and other urinary tract infections.
6. Oregano oil: Oregano oil kills E. coli, the bacteria most commonly seen in UTIs.It is used as an antibacterial remedy for healing bacterial infections. Oregano oil's benefits are better than other antibiotics as it does not cause resistance to Antibiotics.
7. Clove oil: Clove oil has antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiviral activity. It has anti-inflammatory properties, and it’s used to relieve pain and promote healing. Clove can be taken internally for two weeks at a time, but recommended by a healthcare provider.
8. Garlic: Garlic consists of a compound called Allicin. It acts as an antimicrobial agent and is resistant to E.coli in the urinary tract. It also has antifungal properties which can help against yeast infection.
9. Vitamin C: Vitamin C makes the urine acidic, which will inhibit the growth of E.coli and it also improves the immune function. A daily intake of 100 milligrams of vitamin C treats urine infection during pregnancy.
10. D-mannose: D-mannose is a sugar-related compound often used to treat and prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs), particularly those caused by E. coli bacteria. It works by interfering with the adhesion of E. coli to the urinary tract walls. The bacteria typically bind to D-mannose instead of the urinary tract cells, allowing them to be flushed out during urination.
11. Avoid bladder-irritating foods: Certain foods are known bladder irritants – citrus or very acidic foods, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, alcohol – these can all irritate the bladder, leading to bladder leaks. And, if you currently have a UTI, they may affect you even more. Try to watch out for these common bladder irritants to prevent further irritation to your bladder and UTI.
12. Apply heat: Use a heating pad, a warm washcloth, or a hot water bottle to apply heat to your bladder or pelvic area if you’re feeling pain or discomfort there from your UTI. Sometimes take a warm bath to help relieve any pain and to help your muscles relax.
13. Methenamine salts: In the urine, these are turned into formaldehyde, which is believed to help kill bacteria.
14. Amla: Amla's antimicrobial, antibacterial, and diuretic properties help to soothe the inflamed mucosa of the urinary tract, through which relief is a burning sensation.
15. Avoid spermicides: Spermicide-lubricated condoms can make you more likely to get a UTI because they all can contribute to bacterial growth. If you often get UTIs and use one of these birth control methods, switch to a water-based lubricant.
16. Bearberry: Bearberry is also known as Arctostaphylos uva-ursi or upland cranberry. The leaves of this plant have potent antibacterial properties. It has antibacterial activity against E. coli, which is known to be the primary causative agent of UTIs. It contains a compound, arbutin, which is a diuretic (increased urine production and excretion), and astringent (acidic or bitter) property, which acts against UTIs.
17. Cinnamon: Cinnamon acts against the bacteria causing UTIs in long-term catheter users. This has the potential effect of preventing the bacteria from coating the urinary tract. Therefore, cinnamon might be an effective natural remedy for UTIs.
Conclusion:-
The main reason for UTI is E.coli ( a bacteria). It can be easily controlled by some home remedies which are easily available. Even though using home remedies is not enough to control (UTI) there should be habitual changes like staying clean. Even though it is possible to deal with UTI symptoms by following home remedies, it is important to have a conversation with your doctor when you are in the early stages of this infection.
