i had to have been 8 or 9 years old when i first heard or saw anything about the tails doll. he scared me to death but i loved it and thought he was so awesome!! I remember watching coodoo17's sprite animations of him over and over, constantly looking up fanart of him on here and reading all the stories on quacker and bowens' site (there's an archive here).

over the years, though, my views changed. he was still very special to me, but every time i came back to the memory, i appreciated more and more how he came to be: both as a creepypasta and as a character in the sonic franchise.

the fnf mod has touched my heart personally in many ways by re-imagining sonic creepypastas i loved (and laughed at, in the og sonic.exe's case), but it also really got me thinking more about that infamous song "can you feel the sunshine" from sonic r.

i could go into why the song is associated with him, but what's relevant to this lil story is that i grew to really love this song over the years, even before the mod. the strong flood of nostalgia really encouraged me to listen to the lyrics and take it in...and after all the years of growing to love this song, i finally felt what it was trying to say all along. it's one thing to hear a song's words, but it's another to feel them.

it's a message of perseverance, and the hope of a better tomorrow. as simple as it sounds, it's very very powerful to me. hope is sometimes all that we have as people, and surviving to see brighter days is one of the reasons that i keep on living. hope, love and kindness is what keeps our selves, as we know them, together.

and because of tails doll's association with that song, he has become a symbol of that happiness and hope for me.

yes, i can feel the sunshine...and tails doll's adorable little face is one of the many things i see in my mind when i think about it.

based on an interpretation of the tails doll i wrote up. (read from left to right, context under the cut)

basically, a little boy named jacob wished he was real so much that the tails doll actually became real. he acted as a guardian to jacob, but his mom found out that the tails doll could move by itself...scared to death that he was a malevolent poltergeist, she wanted to protect her son and burned the tails doll. it left the jacob devastated to the point where he isolated himself for weeks...

eventually, tails doll's body reassembled from the ashes. the first thing he did was check on his owner through his window to see him sobbing his heart out...this made the tails doll resolve to kill jacob's mother for making him so miserable. that's only a little bit of the story but i hope you guys like it so far!!
