Pet peeve: when people complain about kids having to color between the lines.
teaching small children to color between the lines isn't about stifling their creativity, it's about developing fine motor skills!
#fine if the conversation is about not expecting it to be perfect#and about parents being obsessive about a 2-5 year's (or older but mostly this age) art project ''looking good''#and i think it's really important to have free drawing time#but when i hear the whole stifling creativity thing#or when fictional preschool/kindergarten teachers don't assign coloring between the lines#because it's ''boring''#i want to scream#it's missing the whole point!! the point is building important fine motor skills!! in a fun way!!#it's LEARNING especially in a school setting!!#(yes there are bad art teachers this isn't about that)
