hey fellas. c: micah bell and amos's relationship, am I right? it's so interesting to me. amos's letter really tries to warn us - he knows how evil micah is long before the game really shows us how evil micah is. but micah cared enough to write to his brother in 1899? so it's pretty likely they had a relationship after the death of their father, at least long enough for him to have met amos's wife and hate her. but amos's letter also implies he hasn't heard from his brother in a while, and takes the time to make it abundantly clear he wouldn't only kill micah on sight, but would actively hunt him down if he came within 50 miles of his family SPECIFICALLY to protect his children, his daughters.
y'know, almost as if he knows that micah is capable of murdering children.
makes you wonder if maybe one night, he saw micah kill a kid. maybe it was the night they stopped being brothers - when amos realized that as much as he loved micah, and tried to excuse the way his big brother was on their god-awful childhoods, micah was all that was evil and wrong with the world. swore to the lord that he would repent his brother if it meant protecting his family from him, and told micah he was done, washing his hands of him. wonder if micah thought his brother was a fool and a spineless coward for not having the resolve to get rid of all the witnesses, because he sure as shit wasn't going to hang for a robbery that only got them $10.
wonder if a christian man like amos, who already had a wife, and a daughter of his own, would've taken the time to make two wooden crosses and bury the bodies outside their secluded little home as his first act of repentance. spent the rest of his life traumatized, seeing himself as guilty for the murders of a mother and son as his brother was for not being able to stop him.
