I am surprised the Blades handbook doesn't include any lore about queerness in the Duskvol setting, at least outright. I think you can kind of infer some stuff, for example they have female Bluecoats and academics mentioned so there seems to be some level of gender equality beyond the real life Victorian era which might relate to more flexibility with gender norms, and from the descriptions in the book you could probably imagine that some districts like maybe Silkshore or maybe Six Towers or the Docks would be where the queer quarter would be found, but there hasn't been anything outright that I can see. It kind of makes sense, like leaving it open for players to choose their own level of queernorm or not for the stories they want to tell, but it would be fun to have a little to work off of I feel.
#mez speaks#blades in the dark#bitd#duskvol#the old things#kinda since im talking about bitd anyway lol#for ours we basically didnt address it even though like we have 3 nonbinary characters#like 2 pcs are they/them#and then casta is he/they but we havent really pinned down how this actually plays out in the setting#but then like for cross' backstory i have introduced homophobia and like uhhh#basically he's very clearly signalling that he's gay if you know how to look#but it's pretty invisible if you dont#i had fun coming up with queer symbols and like what the culture is like and stuff#but theres not much guidance in the book that i have seen#or like for casta i know they crossdress but it's probably only at like specific places for that i dont think it's a publically okay thing#but yeah especially since like queer culture can be very tired to the sort of underworld it would make sense to ahve a little perhaps#idk yeah
