No arbitrary debates about what he "should" have achieved can ever take away what Neymar means to the game. He inspired a generation to see football not just as a matter of wins and losses but as an art form. The seat next to Ronaldinho is taken. And it's the boy from Mogi das Cruzes who occupies it.
Football-mad teenagers the world over stayed up on shoddy Brazilian streams just for the boy with the Mohawk and the nasal strips. And for those who needed to sleep, the next day YouTube compilations made sure that everyone knew exactly what audacious skill he pulled off the night before.
While others left Brazil early, hellbent on proving themselves in the European game. Neymar seemed to understand more than most that it isn't really about how where you play the game that attracts an audience. It's about how you play it.
The very embodiment of Joga Bonito. His game so beautiful that the only way to combat it was through brute force. While some hold his injury record against him, watch back any of the horror tackles he used to receive routinely and it starts to make more sense. The violence that his artistry inspired ultimately became his downfall. An irony so bittersweet that it could only be devised by the football gods.
In any other era, he'd have a Ballon d'Or. But is it really such a big deal that he doesn't? A Champions League trophy, Puskás Award, Copa Libertadores, and ten league titles is a career that most can only dream of. And with Pele's record for Brazil only a goal away from being his, his importance to A Seleção Canarinha will soon be a matter of historical record. No matter what the naysayers have to say about it.
In an age when players are increasingly becoming robotic, we seem to forget that we've been graced with a genius whose talents could never be boiled down to numbers. A career that should be celebrated, not put under a microscope.
You can debate as much as you like. But don't let the discourse keep you from enjoying Neymar. For all his talents and all his faults. Because when it's over, there won't be anyone like him again.

Atp I want Messi to come back to barca no matter what others say. Don't care about "he'll ruin the team" blah blah. Thiery Henry literally said yesterday "for the love of football Leo has to coma back to barca and end his career there." And I want psg to lose literally every match after he leaves. It'll be bad for Ney but he's the one who wants to stay and I have given up hopes of him going to a new club.
I know Messi has won everything and all but it makes me so angry because he has so much to give yet. This isn't how it's supposed to be. And now after the World Cup he can really enjoy playing without any burden. But he's stuck with a garbage club and their annoying fans. It's actually so sad.
I agree with you anon. After the WC, I really just expected him to stay on that upward trajectory and enjoy playing the rest of the season. It’s not fair that the high of the WC immediately came crashing down once he returned to PSG.
There are days where I selfishly want neymessi to stay together, but then I watch games like the once yesterday and am reminded that’s it’s just not worth it.
I hope he leaves too, because the current state of PSG is god-awful. And even if PSG does get a better manager and better team, I just hate the atmosphere of PSG. The ultras are a bunch of manbabies who have absolutely no life, and I really don’t want to give them that satisfaction of winning huge titles. And if they have to win for them to treat their club’s players like REAL people, then I’m out.
I wish Neymar would leave too because I’m also sick of his contributions to the club being completely swept under the rug (though I’m not too certain that he’d want to leave atp).

To be very honest, i go where Neymar goes. I grew to love PSG and the rest of the players, but if they're dumb enough to sell one of their best all rounders, fuck them. It's not the players' fault and I truly feel sorry because of the terrible management.
But if Neymar's gone, so am I
Fair enough. I fell in love with psg because of Thiago but I stayed for everyone else even after they fucked over our captain last year (thinking about it still feels me with rage and I hope he comes back someday). But honestly if Neymar is sold or leaves or whatever I will support whatever team he goes to along with psg and roma. I've always joked that i could never support a third team because that slot was reserved to whichever team Neymar might eventually join😅. So that's my decision but I wouldn't blame anyone from jumping ship from this disaster club. I'm just too emotionally invested to do it myself lol. And lastly, something in me thinks maybe this would be best for Ney. Like I hatte the club for putting the blame on him when it literally was shitty defensive mistakes that lost us the match but watching Ney get hacked down by every ligue 1 team every match he plays has made me wish (sometimes) he could just leave and get out. For his own peace of mind and body. But it depends on what he wants too. If he wants to stay, then I will root for him to stay but if not, I wish that he finds a club that he can love elsewhere and a league that don't destroy his legs and refs that protect him.

I feel like Ney is scared o talk at this point. Maybe decision was made but he regrets it, or maybe he' just scared of the reaction and backlash, if all this drama and hate came just from rumors imagine the drama when he says it officially. and what do you say?!? How to you even explain that stupid decision? I feel like he's gonna try to weasel out of giving a statement himself at all and have his PR team do announcement or smth. Either way he should just man the fuck up and get it over with!!
I mean of course it will be the club/his PR people making a statement, but I’m 100% sure he will also make an instagram post.
Whatever people may feel I think he’s found of this club, but I think he’s focussing on his own career and own goals.
Anonymous said:I get ney is confused&everything but to watch all players begging him to stay someone like iniesta its enough keeping aside confusion if u need to be begged to stay at a club then its clear ur time at the club is up. These guys they seem to genuinely care about ney alot but its enough at one point u draw a line. After this there is no looking back. U either want to play for a club or not. That’s it. I am not angry at ney disappointed maybe but then to each its own. I just think i misjudged him
I think he made his decision so yeah. No begging needed, but I think they have to answer question of the press when asked about it. I mean Geri already said most of the team talked to him and I think that’s ok when such a great player wants to leave. It won’t do any harm, so can understand they’re going to do that. Especially when someone is on the verge of leaving a club like barca for that…
Anonymous said:Uh, he can leave Davi and Carol tho, I mean Paris is not that far from Barcelona, it’s only 1:30 in ✈️
I know.
Anonymous said:Hey do you remember when PSG had 30,000 PAYING spectators at their training session in the USA? No? Cuz it never happened and it’s never gonna happen. Wait I stand corrected maybe if their club PAYS the spectators then I guess it could happen…. Trololol
Leader of a team no one cares about… These tweets - not Cules - from other football fans are also hilarious. No one gets why he would leave Barca for them…
Anonymous said:I am soooooo disappointed in neymar I feel like I totally misjudged his character. Can’t even stand any of his friends or dad right now it’s just sad…what’s worse is going to a club like PSG which will indulge him more and give him everything he wants will make him WORSE! He was starting to learn a bit of discipline at Barca but goodbye to that.how he has managed to ruin his image in about 2 weeks and his dad just sits back is quite shocking still can’t believe it.
I have a hard time looking at all his friends too atm. I mean I know he can be an absolute brat if he gets all what he wants, but as of right now that will happen… SO better prepare yourself huh….
And his image is just… I was talking too a guy about it yesterday and the only thing he said well damn for that kind of money I would also play even if it’s in France…
Anonymous said:it took me awhile to realise that the event neymar attended 80% of the people there were children, kids who look up to him. who idolise him, they were all wearing his barcelona jersey. children who look up at him and love him for what he has done, i hope he realised or realised how loved he is by so many people, especially the younger generation, he does play a role in all their lives and love is always more stronger than money. and he looked a lot happier at training, love is always stronger ❤️
I wanna be positive like you! ❤️❤️❤️
That’s beautifully spoken. I hope people won’t forget him when he leaves and plays for P$G… I mean the WC will have a big part in his exposure for sure but…
Anonymous said:Its certain that neymar’s decision is to leave both iniesta suarez indicated that by saying they support him he needs to talk more like “speak up get done with it”. But the confirmation for me is barto saying that “club wants him to stay offcourse but if he wants to leave pay&then leave.” His decision is no longer the thing how he goes&negotiations happen is what matters now.
Yeah I think it’s pay and he can leave.
Anonymous said:U sense something weird in those pics of leo&ney training? Like something wrong between them?
No I was thinking this might be their last training together…
Anonymous said:Is it true he finally made the decision to leave?😢
Not 100% confirmed, but everything is pointing to Paris… 😢😢
Anonymous said:What kind of a fight was it yo? Between ney n another player at barca
During training just a heated thing. Ney wanted to come at him. It’s something that happens during training, but with all these rumors it pissed people off even more…

THE hard yards have been run and the big money has been spent. Now the Premier League contenders are champing at the bit and jostling for position with the starting line less than a fortnight away. Chelsea have bolstered their attack with the signing of Alvaro MorataGetty Images - GettyManchester United will be gunning for the title with Romelu Lukaku in attackGetty - ContributorArsenal will officially get the title race under way a week on Friday when they host the 2015-16 champions Leicester at the Emirates. Never has a new season been more eagerly anticipated than the one about to unfold. And big-spending Everton have now made this season’s Prem battle an intriguing seven-runner race. This time last year, of course, Jose Mourinho was a picture of misery as he prepared for his first season in charge of Manchester United with a calamitous trip to China. But now he is brimming with optimism following a successful couple of weeks in the USA and the signings of £75million Romelu Lukaku and £31m Victor Lindelof. Mourinho claimed: “We are better than last season and the spirit is fantastic. These guys I have now are phenomenal. They are big friends and good guys and I like them so much. “The confidence levels are good and I think the fact that we had some success last season was also important to relax some personalities.” Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will provide blistering pace on the wingsGetty Images - GettyArsenal splashed out £52m on striker Alexandre LacazetteGetty - ContributorMOST READ IN FOOTBALL NEY SAYS YAY Neymar gives go-ahead for stunning £195m PSG switch on £500,000 a week as he 'feels unhappy and in Lionel Messi's shadow at Barcelona'BLUES SAND STORM Chelsea boss Antonio Conte poised to up bid for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro to world record £61millionTOMMY GUNNER Arsenal set to finally land Monaco star Thomas Lemar in £45million deal as French champs cave inJAV A GUESS Who is the mystery brunette West Ham newboy Javier Hernandez is posing alongside in this photo?ANT'S FULL ENGLISH Antonio Conte plots £50m double swoop for England stars Ross Barkley and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to bolster 'home-grown' quotaGIBB OVER Kieran Gibbs set to leave Arsenal after being left out of Emirates Cup squad by boss Arsene WengerNUTS AND BOLTS Is this nutmeg by Neymar on Nelson Semedo the incident that led to Barcelona training bust-up?JAKUB'S TRACKER Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger eyeing move for Udinese and Czech Republic midfielder Jakub JanktoNEYAMI VICE Neymar makes appearance at Nike event in Miami after storming out of Barcelona training session in bust-up with Nelson SemedoWHERE THERE'S A MILL, THERE'S A WAY Watch as Man United's 17-year-old wonderkid Millen Baars scores 89th-minute stunner for youth teamMILAN INTER ANT Inter Milan demand Anthony Martial on loan as part of £45m Manchester United deal for Ivan PerisicDEAL ME IN Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and ALL Premier League clubs - latest transfer news and gossip Down the road at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola appears to have completed his summer spending after paying £219m to sign Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, Danilo and Douglas Luiz. Nobody starts the season under greater pressure than Guardiola after last season’s failure to deliver a trophy or sustain a strong challenge in Europe. Manchester City have spent £219m improving their squad this summerGetty - ContributorMeanwhile, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte fired the first verbal volley this week when he declared the champions’ closest rival last term does not operate under the same pressure as the other hopefuls. The Italian said: “For Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and maybe Liverpool, it is a tragedy if they don’t win the title. “For Tottenham, it is not a tragedy if they don’t win or arrive in the Champions League. You must understand the status and expectations of the team.” Harry Kane will be looking to build on his Golden Boot-winning campaignGetty - ContributorPerhaps that might explain why Spurs, last season’s runners-up, are the only Premier League club still to make a single signing this summer. Many view that inactivity as a lack of ambition and a failure to build on last season’s achievements. But manager Mauricio Pochettino has faith in his squad and is confident they can make an even stronger challenge, despite their temporary move to Wembley. Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger continues to call all the shots at Arsenal despite his lowest finish in 21 years in charge. Wayne Rooney made a sensational return to Everton this summerGetty - ContributorA flying start is essential for Wenger if he is to avoid the kind of fan unrest which has blighted the Emirates in recent years. Yet no one faces a more daunting start to the season than Everton, who have already had to contend with a Europa League qualifier — and face Manchester City, Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United among their first Premier League fixtures. It is not inconceivable they could find themselves bottom of the table by mid-September. Wayne Rooney or not, it is going to be a testing few weeks for their boss Ronald Koeman. CHELSEA DESPITE the arrival of Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Antonio Rudiger, Chelsea need more numbers. That trio are only replacements for Diego Costa, Nemanja Matic — who are both set to leave — and John Terry. Boss Antonio Conte needs quality competition for his regular starting XI. So cover at wing-back and central midfield is needed, plus pace up front. – MIKE McGRATH ARSENAL ARSENE WENGER broke the club’s transfer record by splashing £52million on Alexandre Lacazette. But the Arsenal boss must keep hold of Alexis Sanchez to claim any sort of victory in this window. If Wenger stays with a 3-4-2-1 line-up, he needs another left wing-back. Monaco winger Thomas Lemar would also be a welcome addition, while Wenger is always in the market for a centre-back – MIKE McGRATH MANCHESTER UNITED JOSE MOURINHO cut a frustrated figure on tour in the States, claiming he is only halfway to getting his four targets. Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof are in but Mourinho wants a holding midfielder, with 36-year-old Michael Carrick unable to play every game. Nemanja Matic remains his main target and the club are still working on getting Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic – NEIL CUSTIS TOTTENHAM MAURICIO POCHETTINO is the only top-flight chief not to bring in any new faces — and that must be a concern for some fans. Kyle Walker left for Manchester City but Poch has otherwise managed to retain the squad which did brilliantly last term. But they need more depth to the squad, especially if key men like Harry Kane or Dele Alli get crocked. Some wide midfielders would be welcome. – STEVE BRENNER MANCHESTER CITY SAY what you like about the mind-boggling £219million City have spent this summer, they bought good players in the required areas. Pace and power have been added at full-back, while Ederson is surely an upgrade on Claudio Bravo. They would love to get Alexis Sanchez or Kylian Mbappe — but both look like longshots right now, with the top priority another centre-back – MARTIN BLACKBURN LIVERPOOL THE Reds’ ‘gegenpress’ tactics will only intensify with the arrival of speed merchant Mo Salah and attacking left-back Andrew Robertson. Virgil van Dijk has been Liverpool’s No1 target all summer. And the £70million-rated Southampton centre-half is badly needed to patch up last season’s leaky defence. Another proven goalscorer would be a big help, too – KEN LAWRENCE EVERTON THIS summer has seen the most expensive overhaul in Everton’s history, with almost £100million spent. Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Davy Klaassen are all important buys, while free transfer Wayne Rooney is the headline act. Ex-Barcelona striker Sandro Ramirez has also arrived. But the Toffees need a proven scorer to replace Romelu Lukaku, whose physical presence will also be missed – KEN LAWRENCE Keep up-to-date with all the latest transfer news and gossip in our live blog TRANSFER NEWS GONE TOO SOON Robert Anker from Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity is killed in horror car smash in Canada aged 27SECRET SPLIT Love Island stars Montana Brown and Alex Beattie secretly end their romance just days after leaving villaTHREESOME FROM HELL Woman breaks bones plunging from balcony during orgasm while another woman falls down the stairsCBB OFFICIAL LINE-UP Celebrity Big Brother's full line-up revealed as soap legends, an X Factor singer, US TV stars and glamour model set to enter the houseLOUDER THAN WORDS Why 10,000 black Americans marched silently though New York a century ago todayLOST WORLD Secrets of 'lost continent' Zealandia to be unlocked as scientists set sail to explore underwater landmass'OUR BEAUTIFUL LITTLE BOY HAS GONE' Charlie Gard, the brave little boy whose plight touched the world, has died just seven days before his first birthdayLUCE WOMAN Jemma Lucy steps out without her underwear on in see-through dress before heading into CBB houseCHAOS ON THE CRUISE Cruise ship killing took place DURING ‘murder mystery party’ confusing staff who thought it was part of the game…as it's claimed husband killed his wife for laughing at himTAT'S CASH Love Island's Olivia and Chris to get tattoo for baby Cash on Charlotte Crosby's TV showDOUBLE RAPE HORROR Girl, 15, who had been raped at station flags down car for help and is raped AGAIN in BirminghamCARA'S CAUTION Pregnant Love Island 2016 winner Cara De La Hoyde warns new stars: 'Show broke my heart and it will break yours too' #PremierLeague #PepGuardiola #ArseneWenger

Happy Birthday Neymar My Love❤❤❤
Happy Birthday Ney. I guess when it comes to you I have so much to say and yet nothing to say at all. In a way, I don't think I have enough words to discribe how you have made loving football such a core footprint of my life. You have been my favorite football player for so many years it's almost hard to imagine a time before you weren't the footballer I cheered on the most.
Thank you for coming to PSG. Even though I would support you on whatever team you decided to go to, I'm so so happy it was my team with my boys and my loyalty. Watching you slowly fall in love with the city, watching you go fron a reluctant participant to heartbroken bitterness and finally, to pride and adoration for your team/your boys..... it's been a journey and a half and I'm grateful to have managed to see it all.
Thank you for being you Ney. Not a perfect man, not by far. But someone who tries every day to strive on being better. And at the end of the day, that's all one can ask for.
Happy Birthday my drama queen. I will never love you any less only more (if that is at all possible 😂😂).

PSG’s Champions League Match
So, tomorrow we’re playing Leipzig in the semi final of the champions league. Navas will be out, Marco might play half the match if we’re lucky, Gueye is probably out too, and the referee hates us. It all looks very daunting all things considered, and not having Navas really deals a heavy blow to the team, but I still want us to keep our heads up high and believe in the players. Remember how happy were when we beat Atalanta? I’ve never seen such elation, such joy on their faces. They were so freaking happy and I just want that for them. So even if we are out of form, can’t stop getting injured and somehow always find ourselves against this referee when we least want it, I still say we got a shot at this.
If the boys don’t fuck up, if Tuchel doesn’t experiment too much, if we don’t collect ridiculous cards, and if Neymar and Verratti keep their cool and don’t start fights, I think we can hope. Champions league has always been our Achilles heel, so I get why a lot of you are worried, and to be frank, so am I. But worrying ourselves sick doesn’t help anybody.
This is Thiago’s last season with us. I want the team to send their captain off with the highest determination they can give him. So even if they don’t win tomorrow, all I ask for is that they play well and keep on going till the end. I want them to leave their hearts on that pitch, to not come back with any regrets about their performance, and as long as they can do that, I’ll be proud of them no matter what.
Now, tactically speaking, with Gueye out and Marco unable to play the whole match I guess we’ll drop Neymar to the midfield and put him with Herrera and Paredes. Between Ney and Paredes I think we’ll have enough creativity to move the ball forward and in that sense, Marquinhos can drop back down to defense; which we desperately need reinforced.
I’m more worried about Herrera though. He doesn’t hold onto the ball as well as Gueye and box to box passing isn’t his strong suit. But he is a solid central midfielder all things considered so I’ll hope that’ll be enough.
I have more faith in our attack. With Di maria coming back, and Mbappe being match fit, we at least have people to trust up front. Whether we start Choupo or not, having Kylian up front whom Neymar can send through passes to, and Kylian himself making those dangerous runs behind the line, will open up our attack so much more. Angel will also be able to drop back and collect the ball if needed since Neymar and Kylian can often leave the midfield exposed when they go on the attack. I just hope Di maria comes back in his best form and doesn’t do that thing were he holds onto the ball for way too long.
Anyways, that’s my two cents about the upcoming match. And I really hope things go well because watching Tuchel scream with sheer joy, watching Marco stumble down the stairs with childish glee, seeing Ney and Kylian hug it out on the pitch; relief written all over their faces, admiring Choupo’s beautiful finish touch..... I just want to see that again. I want them to be that happy again. I don’t care how little other fans like us, I don’t care how much they hate this team, I don’t care about gas/oil money (high horses much? When your teams out there wearing Nike products). What I do care about is the team. I care about Thiago Silva’s last season as our captain, I care about Tuchel who somehow has managed to make this disjointed club into a team, I care about Neymar finally getting the chance to play the CL, I care about Mbappe proving time and time again the amazing player he is, I care about Verratti finally seeing the light at the end of the psg curse, I care about Navas having his efforts pay off. I care about psg. Nothing more, nothing less.
So, let’s root for them like we always do; with our cynicism and flickering hope. Let’s believe in them because no matter how many times they’ve let us down, they somehow always manage to capture our hearts.
Go get them PSG.
And I’ll say it again.
