Wolfstar stans always say that Remus was OOC IN Canon!!! I mean wtf?? delusional lol. Fanon Remus is a mary sue who suffers and pines after cruel hottie Sirius and then Sirius comes to his senses and runs after his moony, begging for scraps of his attention and ofc James is completely ignored by sirius or they fight over poor hurting remus lmao their Fanon is what is so OOC. I think they self insert into Remus so they can catch the popular Hot bad boy who they can "cure of his bad ways"
hello anon 💜 i see we have awoken to choose violence today (nice) so i’m putting this under a cut so remus fans can skip this one.
yeah i’ve seen that too and i always have to scroll past while making faces because,,,im not here to start shit lol but oh god it’s such an annoying position. like ok, i’ve called canonical behaviours ooc too (cough harry in CC cough) and it’s entirely possible i was wrong, but the remus thing is just. wilfully ignoring everything we know about him? (again: caveat here is if you don’t care about canon, then go for it w/o trying to do critical canon analyses. no harm, no foul)
but here’s the thing, right? remus as we know him in canon is a serial manipulator, liar, gaslighter, and coward. like, this has been shown multiple times. i’m not making it up. in my mind, his actions in dh were absolutely not ooc. they just followed the pattern that had already been established so far. and i feel like so much of his characterisation comes from not wanting to engage with that kind of darkness (because even acknowledging it means your dynamic is changed). i’ve read a few excellent fandom analysis posts on here, actually, about how characterisation of wolfstar has changed over the years (decades?) as the average readership/writer ship has gone from middle aged to younger. apparently, it used to be much more dysfunctional and grittier earlier, dealing with the darkness on both sides. it was interesting. but anyway, yeah, i see it happen with regulus/jegulus too sometimes (even if i can’t comment on it since i’ve barely interacted with that content) where you deliberately turn a blind eye to things because if remus is a coward or bad at relationships, then u can’t actually write that fluffy AU u want. which…isn’t fun. because fanfic is about writing all the fluffy AUs in the world ykno?
but what that’s ended up doing is completely transforming his character into someone barely recognisable to those who aren’t in that particular niche (although,,,it’s not exactly niche is it?) and just. idk. i’m rambling now lol but it just really frustrates me because i cannot escape it. and it always treats sirius so badly. remus is just the most sympathetically written character, even when he’s being an absolute asshole, and sirius can’t breathe without being whacked over the head with it. i hate how much he’s scapegoated, honestly. like, i think i’d be fine with the mary sue-fication of remus if sirius wasn’t so defanged in the process but alas, it isn’t to be.
also that’s such an interesting point because i’ve often thought the same about remus being a self insert tbh. i was talking to someone and they said something along the lines of ‘james & sirius as the hot, rich, privileged characters aren’t relatable as much as remus, who’s poor & tortured & misunderstood, so u have people flocking to the latter’ and that combined with the ‘i can fix him’ energy just,,,really shines through sometimes lol. not so much on tumblr (where i barely interact) but i’ve seen it so much in the mwpp fandom on twitter, and a bit on tiktok. it’s very projection-heavy imo (which like, not a judgement. i’m clearly a projection heavy writer too)

Could you do victuuri w/ 41? Feel free to ignore this if you're not taking anymore fic requests!
My first VIctuuri fic! Sorry for the wait but you can thank my roommate for this getting done lmao. YoI is one of her favorite things on the planet. I apologize if they’re a bit ooc since it’s been a while and I’ve never written them before.I hate titles, man. This one is courtesy of the many times aforementioned roommate.
Title:  Diamonds Aren’t a Man’s Best Friend // AO3Word Count: 1,859Tags/Warnings: G. Time skip, future fic, slight deviations from canon things, Victor is retired but coaching Yuri P.Prompt: Diamond
Yuuriwakes up to an article tweeted at him by thousands of people. For a moment, hepanics, wondering what he’s done in the last day or so to garner a tabloidarticle that is trending on Twitter as well as Facebook. Groggy and jet laggedin Victor’s guest room – the Russian was very vocally against Yuuri staying ina hotel and Yuuri only bent enough to take the guest room during his visit, equal parts training and a short vacation between competitions for the season –Yuuri is only somewhat relieved when he sees that the article is not about him.He instead grows anxious and flustered.
FiveWorld Champion Medals, Five Grand Prix Medals, and Potential Wedding Bells?
Last night, five timeGrand Prix winner, Victor Nikiforov was seen entering a high-end jewelry store. The retired figure skater-turned-coach of Russia’s Yuri Plisetsky remained inthe store for more than an hour, sources say. He left the store with a smallbag. According to our source, he was looking into diamonds.
In the last few yearsthere has been speculation about Nikiforov’s relationships. As a private man, there has been little information about any lovers, but there is a certainJapanese skater who seems to have held his attention for the past few years.Though there is nothing official between ex-coach and student, maybe anannouncement is going to be made in the near future? Or so certain fans arehoping.
Thearticle goes on to delve in more speculations and rumors about Victor and theunnamed ex-student, and Yuuri really doesn’t understand why they didn’t justuse his name since they have described and detailed everything else about him.
Thereare related tweets and replies with people asking both him and Victor if it’strue, if they are actually a couple and if Victor is planning on proposing. Victor’sasked about what kind of ring he’s thinking of buying, if it really is forYuuri or if he’s got another secret lover. They ask Yuuri how he feels aboutwhat he thinks of being proposed to, if he’s been expecting it or if thetabloids ruined the surprise. They ask if he’ll say yes.
Andthen there’s the hateful comments, with vulgar language and a completedisregard for grammar and punctuation. They sting, but he’s gotten better abouthis lack of self-confidence – his friends and family and Victor having his backand slapping him upside the head when he relapses. He still feels that prick ofdoubt every once in a while, fueled by hurtful comments from the media and buthere he just feels anger. Yuuri can handle derogatory words and crude insults aimedat him, to a degree, but when he reads more and more tweets and retweets andreplies that insult Victor and branch off into wild exaggerated lies aboutPhichit and Chris and Yurio, all Yuuri feels is a growing anger.
Hecloses out of Twitter and tosses his phone onto the pillows of Victor’s guestbed, stomping to the bathroom to cool down. After he’s brushes his teeth andgone through the daily morning motions, his ire has leveled out to a low simmerbeneath the surface. Stepping out into the living room of Victor’s apartmentand smelling coffee coming from the kitchen, hearing someone moving aroundclanking glass and humming, smothers the last of his anger.
“Morning,”Yuuri calls out, coming around to the kitchen to see Victor, soft anddisheveled in sweatpants and a tee-shirt. The Russian has a mug of coffee inhand and another sitting on the counter by a plate of fresh toast.
Victorresponds in kind with Russian and holds out Yuuri’s coffee. “Sleep well?”
Yuurinods. Sleeping was fine, it was when he woke up that things turned a bit sour.He sips his coffee and hesitates on bringing up what he woke up to. Victorseems relaxed and carefree and Yuuri doesn’t want to be the one to ruin that. Buthe also doesn’t want Victor to be taken by surprise when he heads out and getsaccosted by someone who recognizes him or reporters that are hovering by theentrance to the apartment building.
“So, uh,” Yuuri starts, but he doesn’t knowhow to continue. The gold ring on his finger, the promise from those few yearsago, clinks against the mug in his hands. Victor’s stands out against the marbletop where he’s resting his hand and supporting his weight.
Victorcocks his head to the side. “Something wrong?”
“No,uh, yes, kind of…” Yuuri trails. His gaze fixes on Victor’s ring and all he canthink about is if it’s true. If Victor really was looking at diamond rings lastnight when he had gone out. Victor had told Yuuri he was just doing someerrands and Yuuri had been exhausted enough from his day of training to fallasleep before Victor even came back. Even through his exhaustion-addled memory,Yuuri doesn’t recall Victor acting any different than usual then, but he wasalso at the point of falling asleep standing and much of the prior evening is ablur.
WhileYuuri’s thinking of a way to go about the whole did you buy me an engagement ring last night? thing, Victor, with aconcerned frown on his face, comes to Yuuri who steps back in surprise andpresses himself against the kitchen island. Victor stops just mere inches fromYuuri at a distance that is on the cusp between friendly and intimate.
“Isthis about the articles this morning?” Victor questions and Yuuri heaves a sighof relief at not having to bring it up, even though he’s still anxious aboutactually talking about it. He settles for nodding sheepishly into his mug, bothafraid and a little excited about Victor’s explanation. He can’t get over theidea of there being a diamond ring that would fit his finger.
Victorreleases a deep breath, but he’s smiling so Yuuri’s fears lessen. The Russianruns his free hand through his hair as he grumbles, “A man can’t go and look atsome jewelry, I swear.”
“Well,”Yuuri interrupts, “you’re not just anyone, Victor.”
Theman narrows his eyes at the interruption, but Yuuri doesn’t miss the pleasedgleam in Victor’s eyes as the other man’s lips twitch in their effort to notsmile.
“Regardless,”Victor continues, “I was just popping in to have a look and if I boughtsomething, that’s mine and whoever I’m buying the gift for’s business.”
Yuurilooks down at some point between his and Victor’s feet, the cooling mug ofcoffee in his hands at the edge of his vision. “Oh. Yeah.”
Victorsighs in front of Yuuri. “Oh Yuuri.” A hand cups his chin and tilts his face upso he’s eye-to-eye with Victor who’s giving him a knowing smile that’s soft atthe edges. “I was looking for a diamond pendant for Lilia for her birthday andended up getting something custom made that I can pick up next week or so.”
Yuuriflushes. He feels indescribably stupid for his assumptions and silly hopes.“Oh, ha, she’ll love that.”
Victor’ssmile turns sharp and there’s a playful twist to the wrinkles by his eyes.“Hmm, I hope so, or I’ll never hear the end of it. But, I didn’t leavecompletely empty handed last night.”
Yuurifrowns but remembers the article, where it mentioned that Victor had left thestore with a small bag and his heart skidded over a beat before thumpingfrantically in a cacophony of anxiety, nervousness, and anticipation. “Oh?” Hisvoice hiccupped through at least three changes in pitch and tone.
Victoris positively grinning at this point, but there’s a shadow that flickers acrosshis expression that Yuuri has come to learn is doubt – something his youngerself didn’t think someone like Victor could ever feel.
“Waithere.” And then his former coach is leaving the kitchen with hurried steps, disappearing into his bedroom. Yuuri’s more stunned than anything and so is inthe exact same position and place when Victor returns with a small, glossyblack bag with gold script advertising the store from where it came from. Heholds the box out to Yuuri who’s trying to focus on breathing in and out and inand out and—
“Yuuri, breathe,” Victor says, like that isn’t what Yuuri’s putting all his energy andfocus into doing. The bag is set down to the side and Yuuri hands his mug toVictor as the Russian tries to bring Yuuri back from the verge of hyperventilation.
WhenYuuri is breathing at a regulated and normal pace, Victor laughs and shakes hishead. “I just wanted to give you a present, not send you into an anxietyattack.”
Yuuriflushes and can’t bring himself to look at Victor, crossing his arms around hischest and sulking. “Sorry. You know what they’ve been writing about and sayingonline about…things.”
“Yes,”Victor nods, and picks up the bag again, but doesn’t add anything else. He justholds the bag as an offering that Yuuri takes with considerable levels oftrepidation and embarrassment at his initial reaction to the bag.
Yuuriopens the bag and amid unnecessary decorative tissue paper is a small, black velvetbox. Yuuri’s heart stops but he realizes that the box is a bit too long to be aring box and his pulse settles into a slightly less rushed rhythm.
“Victor…?”He looks up but Victor just smiles with his mouth closed and seems to be barelyholding back from bouncing in place from his anticipation that leaks through toYuuri and really doesn’t help with Yuuri’s maelstrom of emotions.
Yuurisets the bag down and opens the jewelry box. He’s surprised by the relief hefeels at it not being a ring, but he does also feel that pinch of disappointment. In the box is a pendant, a gold-brown gem roughly cut into a long rectangular prism.
“It’stopaz, imperial topaz,” Victor says. “We’re both going to be busy when yourbirthday comes around this year and when I saw this, I knew I had to get it foryou. It would have been a surprise, but, well, the media likes to be aninconvenience.” The Russian finishes with a shrugs but Yuuri is too focused onthe pendant resting in the white padding of the box. He eases the pendant outof the casing and with it comes a thin gold chain.
“It’sbeautiful, Victor,” Yuuri says finally, beaming up at his retired mentor.
Victorreaches for the chain and Yuuri turns around and tilts his head. The chaincomes around his head and the topaz pendant settles against his sternum.
AsVictor finishes clasping the necklace back around Yuuri’s neck, he leansforward and Yuuri squeaks as a shudder runs down his spine at the feel of lipsgrazing against his ear. “I’ll get you a ring when you win gold at theOlympics.”
Ittakes Yuuri a second for the words to process before he’s whirling around onlyto see Victor halfway across the room. “Victor!”

ALL NUMBERS BC GO BIG OR GO HOME
Alright time to procrastinate by answering all these fanfic questions. They’re all under the cut
1. What was your first fic and could you stand to reread it today?
Based on the first one that’s on my surviving ffnet, it was dramione and no I could not stand reading it today for certain reasons I don’t want to discuss.
2. What’s your most recent fic and how far do you think you’ve come?
My most recent is The Sn Sets deals with grief and mourning after a canonical character death which is not something I write often. I think the emotions in it could have been better but I’m still satisfied with how it turned out. I think I’m at a place in my writing where I can attempt fics with that kind of emotional level.
3. In your opinion, what’s your best fic?
I have no opinion on this but my best friend and brother say “Covered in my Art”
4. In your opinion and without looking at any numbers, what’s your most popular fic?
Well, I only have 2 actual popular fics so I easily remember them. My most popular is my victuuri post-episode 7 kiss fic. I posted it just a couple of days after that episode aired so naturally it shot up.
5. Is there any fic that makes you super happy to reread and remember you wrote that?
I hardly reread my fics. I just can’t bring myself to do it. But one that I’m happy I wrote is
6. Is there any fic that makes you super embarrassed to reread and remember you wrote that?
I get embarrassed reading them all.
7. What’s the fic you most want to continue (unfinished or no)?
I am looking forward to continuing my Living Legends series (YOI Tattoo Shop AU)
8. What’s the oldest (longest since last update) fic you most want to continue (unfinished or no)?
My Star Wars Mummy AU. It’s been almost a year now and I still have all my notes and outline for it. I just need motivation.....
9. Have you ever written for a fandom without watching/reading/playing the source material?
Nope. I’m picky about what I write about and it has to be something I’m really into in order for me to watch it.
10. Have you ever written for a fandom without reading other fanfic for it?
I’m picky for what I read as well so if I’m writing for it, I’m most likely reading it as well.
11. Have you ever written a fic for a concept you know someone else has done before? How did it impact your writing process or feelings after posting?
Well there’s always writing popular tropes that everyone does but what comes to mind first is my Mummy AU. It was my idea first but someone got inspired by my editset I made of it and before I could post my first chapter of the story, someone else did it. They finished the fic before I could get my done and so it made me lose interest in continuing mine even if there were enough differences between ours.
12. Have you ever written a fic and decided never to publish it? Why?
I’ll have a bunch of ideas I start and never finish for various reasons. But I pretty much publish everything I write.
13. What’s the biggest change between your style when you started in fandom and today?
Besides the fact that I don’t suck as much as I did 13 years ago? I’m still working on it but I feel like I’m able to set a scene better with description and narration has gotten better.
14. What’s the biggest change in your taste between when you started in fandom and today?
Don’t know if this answers the question but I guess sticking to what I like and not conforming to the popular ideas of how certain characters/ships should be written.
15. Have you ever purposefully written one fandom/fic idea over another because you knew it’d be more popular?
*stares at victuuri post episode 7 kiss fic*
16. Have you ever stopped writing a fic/for a fandom because it wasn’t receiving enough attention?
That might be one reason I stopped writing Marvel fics
17. In your opinion, what’s your most overrated fic?
Honestly, “Closer”. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the fic even if I haven’t read it since I posted it, but I don’t know if it’s good for all the kits and kudos it’s gotten.
18. What’s your most underrated fic?
Any femslash or polyship fic or rarepair fic
19. If you had to pick one fic/scene/chapter of your work to describe your entire portfolio to a stranger, which would you pick?
Oh shit um....
20. Have/Would you ever rewrite a fic? If yes, would you take the original down?
I have considered it for two Merlin fics and I would do it in a heartbeat if I could but since they’re part of big bangs I can’t.
21. If someone starts kudosing and commenting your fics in a spree and has a few works of their own, would you go look through theirs?
Yeah I sometimes do
22. Has there ever been anyone who’s made you freak out because they read your work and followed/favorited/reviewed?
People would actually have to read my works first. I just get excited to have anyone reading my stuff tbh
23. What’s the nicest review you’ve ever gotten?
Most are on my “Not ‘He’” fic with readers sharing their experiences with me in relation to my fic. It was an amazing feeling to see that my fic connected with people on such a personal level like that.
24. What’s the meanest review you’ve ever gotten? Do you think the reviewer intended it?
I’ve gotten some kind of rude ones that were too pushy for updates but one that sticks out was just someone going off on their own rant about gender identities on the above mentioned fic. I don’t think they intended to come off as bad as it sounded but it wasn’t fun to read nonetheless.
25. What constructive criticism, however well-meaning, always makes you feel bad when you see it in a review?
Mostly dealing with simple grammar mistakes because that’s stuff I should know but still always forget.
26. What aspect of your writing do you most enjoy to see praised?
Characterization because no one wants to read a fic where the characters are so ooc it takes them out of it. So being able to capture the character, especially in an AU, is the best thing to hear.
27. If you could only ever write crossovers or single-fandom fics ever again, which would you pick?
Single fandom fics. I don’t really do crossovers.
28. If you could only ever write for a single crossover or a single fandom again, which would you pick?
Yuri!!! on Ice. I honestly have plenty of ideas to keep me going.
29. Does the division of your writing across fandoms line up with your reading? What’s the biggest discrepancy?
((skipping))
30. Do you continue to write for a fandom after you’ve moved on or do you focus solely on the new one?
If you looked at my AO3 chronologically, you will see where I stop and start a new fandom. But there are some fandoms I will write at the same time. But there will be a focus on the new one.
31. Who’s the one character you’ve just never managed to get perfectly right?
I feel like it’s Clint Barton despite how much I love him. I think it’s because of that I feel like I can’t write him well.
32. Who’s the one character who shines without you even trying?
I feel like I have Yuri Plisetsky down pretty well.
33. Is there any particular character whose scenes always wind up being longer/more frequent than you expected? Does the quality hold up?
It really depends on the fic and what I’m writing. Some characters may steal the scene but it usually turns out well.
34. Was there any fic that you wrote that really surprised you in the fandom reaction? Was it just by the numbers or did they take it an entirely different way?
I was surprised to see so many people interested in “Covered in my Art”. AUs can be hard to sell and while it’s not the most popular tattoo shop au, it still got a better response than expected.
35. Have you ever written a ship into a fic without meaning to?
I accidentally wrote past Yuuri/Phichit in my recent Phichit/Leo/Guang-Hong fic. I guess that hc is so set in my mind I can’t help but write it lol
36. Have you ever sincerely written a ship you do not support into a fic?
Yes but it was a commission fic so I kinda had to
37. Have you ever purposefully bashed a character/ship in a fic?
Regrettably in the past when I was younger and didn’t know better. But I have learned from that.
38. Have you ever purposefully written something you know your readers would find uncomfortable/would not enjoy? If yes, why?
Besides like injuries, not really.
39. Do you consider yourself to have a readership?
I know I can count on like 3 people to read my fics and they’re the best peeps ever.
40. Do you feel like you put out enough content?
I do now after going so many years hardly writing anything. I still feel like I could do more.
41. If you cross-post your fics on multiple sites, do you have a favorite? Are there certain fics you would only post on certain site?
I mostly post on AO3 but I’m slowly adding my fics back to ffnet just to have them hosted in two places. I definitely prefer AO3 because I love the tagging system.
42. How many views has your most popular fic gotten?
7k and I know it’ll be the only one
43. Your least popular?
less than 50
44. Do you follow/favorite/kudos/comment/review more stories than you have received?
Yes because I try to kudos and comment on anything I read that I liked.
45. If you had to call yourself an author of a single genre (besides fanfic) what label would you give yourself?
Fluff. It’s a genre now.
46. Do you consider yourself a diverse author?
I would like to be but probably not.
47. If someone you know in real life who isn’t involved in fandoms asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?
No. While I have no problem telling people I write fanfic now, I don’t want them reading my writing.
48. Does anyone you know from outside of fandom know you write fanfic? Are they involved in the same fandom too?
Not really. I don’t just walk around telling everyone I write it. It still has to be brought up and I feel comfortable telling them.
49. Has anyone in your life ever read your fanfic just because you wrote it?
Yes because I make my best friend read it.
50. Has writing fanfic had a significant impact on your life? Would you say it’s entirely positive?
I’ve literally been writing fanfic for half my life now so it’s definitely had a significant impact on me. For the most part it has been positive. It’s given me a way to express myself and make my voice be heard. There have been times it stresses me out and I feel anxious about it but I wouldn’t stop writing because of that.
