bc of circumstances we (mostly i) ended up watching like 4 hours of bob's burgers straight and the thing i realized we really love abt the show

is the sincerity

like each of them desperately love and desperately hate various things and have like ZERO shame about ANY of it. and the other members of the family love each other and support their passions.

and i love that

there's zero shame abt the fact that bob LOVES CAKE (the show based around patty/paddy cake, their spoof of STOMP)

or tina and horses, zombies, fanfic/friendfic, and boys and their butts. or louise and kuchi kopi & that universe, or booboo.

their shared interests, too. w that whole ep where louise & bob have a "burn unit" they do every night, mocking late night commercials. then gene & bob love those spaghetti westerns.

and linda with literally everything, including wine, singing to herself, chanting, finding her favorite stores to poop at, etc.

like it's just nice, bc then when they meet challenges or they hurt each other, the way they respond makes sense and also feels real and sweet. like it's not positive all the time (bob's manic hatred of jimmy pesto which is gone now that the character is lol) and it doesn't have to be. but the complete lack of "cringe" is great.
