It's that time of year again, folks! We are so so excited to start round three of the 1D Country Fest! SIGN UP HERE!

RULES

There is one big change that we are making this year and it comes in the form of a challenge. In previous rounds, we've asked that the fic be inspired by a country song, which is then added to the round's playlist. But this time, we want the song to be directly in the fic. Have a character sing the song! Or maybe a character quotes it when giving advice! Maybe it's the song playing when the characters lock eyes across the bar and they finally have that classic "Oh. OH." moment! The possibilities are endless and we are so excited to see what y'all will come up with!

Here are some other reminders for the fest:

🌾 You must be 18 years old or older to sign up. 🌾 There are no word count limitations! You can write a 50-word poem or a 100k epos! 🌾 The fic must include at least one (current or former) member of One Direction. 🌾 All pairings (or no pairings!), and any AUs – as long as they are compatible with the country setting – are allowed. 🌾 Your fic has to correspond with a country song that is quoted within the story.

1. favorite song at the moment.

This is hard. I’ve been roadtripping with my fam this week so I haven’t been listen to my music that much because I make playlists with everyone’s genres for the trips. But Stupid For You by Waterparks comes to mind. The guitar is awesome and the lyrics are pretty fun. Also, Enough for You by Olivia Rodrigo and All I Know So Far by P!nk. Enough for you is sad but very relatable. All I know so far is a bittersweet optimism with the insane vocals that P!nk’s music always has.

2. Song you associate with your favorite ship

so my favorite ship is probably Sterek but I don’t have a song I specifically associate with them. Bellarke is Soldier by Gavin DeGraw and You & Me by James TW. 18 by 1D reminds of Malex (as does Tyler Blackburn’s song from the show which was v good). I also think about one ship with Not In The Same Way by 5SOS. Percabeth, my og otp, I see in lots of songs but Mine by Taylor Swift and You & I by 1D probably the most.

3. a song that could be about you.

I, also, have a full playlist of songs that sound like their about me. Good Example by R3HAB with Andy Grammar is a big one. Here’s To Being Single by Lost Stars could be about my dating life lol. High School by 90s Kids is a hundred percent how I feel about high school.

4. a song that you think is underrated.

There are lots of songs I think are underrated. I love Little Hurt ( Alaska, Good as it Gets, It’s Ok Not to Be Ok, et,.) and I’ve literally never heard anyone talk about him before. Jesus in LA by Alec Benjamin (I love all of his music too). Everywhere by Niall Horan, If I’m Being Honest by Anna Clendening, and New Religion by The Heydaze.

5. a song that reminds you of a good memory

I have playlist for this too! (Because I have endless playlists) The song Cheap Thrills by Sia reminds of senior year of high school. My cousin and I ditched school on St Patrick’s to sneak into a party. It was in skyscraper right where the New York St Patrick’s Parade started. We had a such a great time. Probably the most rebellious thing I’ve ever done.

6. the last song you listened to

Annie by A R I Z O N A found it on tiktok when searching my own name in the sounds and I kind of love it. It’s a great dance song.

7. a song that makes you laugh.

Dead Man Walking by Jon Bellion which I’ve mentioned on here before, but I always giggle while singing. It’s about a guy who sleeps with his sister’s best friend and he’s lamenting that his sister is going to kill him. He did it in one take and you can hear his friends laughing the background.

8. A song you want your mutuals to listen to.

I would recommend all of the songs I’ve mentioned! Everyone who follows me for 5sos content I think will like Little Hurt and Waterparks in particular. I’ve been thinking about Gotta Be A Reason by Alec Benjamin a lot today so that for a specific song. It’s sad and it’s sweet and I know it complete (😉).
