Brief description of him: he's the opposite of our beloved black cat so he's really friendly, kind and gentle. Me and Bunny are really abusing the "dogs are so weird, even if you hurt them they still love you" line... Wolf nari and goat's relationship is really complicated, that's all I'll say for now

Ok so, if you saw my other references you might have noticed that wolf nari has something in common with my goat, it was Bunny's idea and I just went crazy about it so:

My goat's execution was absolutely gut wrenching (haha), something really traumatic that scarred them mentally; after coming back to life all they wanted was revenge for everything they've been through and for everything they've lost, they're not gonna stop at the 4 bishops they want all gods gone.

So, when it's time to meet again with wolf nari, goat is not gonna surrender and when they win and defeats the last living God they can finally free all their rage and do what was done to them to someone else, killing the last god, they went a little out of control... It didn't felt good like killing the others.

I work with horses for a living and I’d like to hop on the bandwagon and suggest some breeds. I can’t remember if your beans are Italian, but that’s the assumption I’ve been going with so I apologize if I’m wrong!

Machete: Sardinian Anglo-Arab or Cavallino di Monterufoli

Vasco: Salernitano or Lipizzano (they come in colors that aren’t grey)

I have other recs if they aren’t Italian. I would add Neapolitan to Vasco, but you won’t find many (if any) photos of them. It went extinct in the 50s as its own unique breed. The Lipizzano is a descendant.

Assigning the LU boys as cats or dogs based on the vibes they give me (because I'm bored):

Time – chill stray/alley cat vibes. Like that old scruffy cat that shows up at the doorstep for food and pets and then disappears for three weeks on end, only to show back up like nothing happened

Twilight – dog coded (obviously) feels like a golden retriever to me? He loves attention and making people happy and just overall helping out and being good

Warriors – makes me think of a cat, one of the pretty ones with a long, floofy tail (ragdoll, maybe?) also could fit as like, a trained show dog or something, idk

Legend – spicy cat. He has some of the most stereotypical cat-like behavior out of the whole Chain and I cannot see him as anything but a sassy standoffish cat that secretly likes attention but only in private. He will hiss at you if you try to touch him when he doesn't approach you first

Hyrule – stray dog, probably a mixed breed that just kinda... Exists. Sometimes he likes people, sometimes he doesn't, he just kinda goes where he wants when he wants

Four – cat coded for sure (which feels weird because I don't think he would particularly like cats? Except maybe Vio or Red wouldn't mind them.) I can see him being a very sophisticated type of cat. Like he accepts pets but he doesn't purr often and he spends a lot of his time sitting at a sunny window with his eyes doing that cat squint thing.

Sky – dog coded. For some reason he makes me think of a Shiba Inu? Just very soft and friendly and happy, very affectionate.

Wind – goofy orange cat coded. No more needs to be said

Wild – dog coded. I'm kind of picturing a coyote (because it's Wild) but idk. He definitely gives me dog vibes but I'm not sure exactly what type. He likes people, likes attention, but he also likes running around and getting into trouble soooo idk

Bonus!

Mask – Feral kitten. Hates any kind of affection but he's also the most pathetic little guy that's ever been seen and he constantly has a wet cat look. He will bite you and draw blood

Ravio – he's just that one cat that appeared in your house one day and never left. You've put him outside multiple times but he keeps finding ways in. He will yowl pitifully at you until he gets food and attention. Steals your socks

Malon – border Collie sheep/herding dog. She's good with people, always makes sure everyone's where they're supposed to be and keeps everyone in line

Shadow Link and Dark Link are both black cats, but Dark is the one actively planning world domination while Shadow just gets in trouble for the attention

When you grow up with dogs that have owners who treat them with respect and discipline, you learn so much about dog body language. Body language in dogs is the main way they communicate with each other. You learn how they act when they're happy and relaxed vs scared and stressed, and the difference looks like night and day. So it's a curveball to meet people who don't have that knowledge and, for example, immediately go in for a firm pat on top of the head when meeting a new dog and become surprised when the dog doesn't like it. From the dog's perspective, this random they haven't even sniffed yet is quickly coming towards a vulnerable body part from above with no warning. It's the same with small dogs who are "vicious" and nippy, they've had their bodily autonomy violated all their lives because they're small, being picked up and restrained and pushed around, so they've adapted with the only method of self defence they have.

Dogs are CONSTANTLY telling you how they feel through body language (unless they've been beaten/disciplined out of displaying those cues, now that's an unpredictable and dangerous dog,) but most people don't know how to listen. This isn't a criticism of those people, they just don't know the language. Many haven't had the opportunity to learn, and I wonder if there's a way we could give more people that opportunity. I think it would cut down many peoples fear of dogs, I've heard first hand how it causes many a great deal of stress when they encounter dogs in public. Just being able to visually verify that a dog is chilling and no threat to anyone around could be really helpful to those who are scared of dogs.

I don’t think I’ve seen two “ship” characters who embody “cat and dog” more than Len and Barry. I know I am certainly not the first person to think about this but I’m just thinking about it in depth today, i dunno.

Maybe it’s because most ships I’m part of don’t contain a hero and a literal thief/criminal but I digress—

Len is 100% like a cat. He gets into places he shouldn’t (how? And wait — why?). While he seems to have a grasp of how he feels and what’s going on, fuck off if anyone else does, he portrays himself as extremely mercurial. He is the type of guy to just push a glass of water off the table and let it shatter just to see you clean it up (Barry’s “don’t spill the salt” and him laying it flat on its side). Fiercely protective of his own food, will mooch off of others and get offended if he’s told to fuck off. Desperately vies for attention by any means necessary (from nuisance to straight up CRIMES) but when attention is on him when he doesn’t want it he hisses and claws and acts all ferocious. Loyal to those he loves but leaves them all wondering “do you even like me?” And he responds with essentially “can’t you tell?” And when they’re like “no, that’s why I’m asking,” he’s shrugs and goes with “well it must suck to be stupid,” and moves along and his loved ones still don’t know. Gets roped into shenanigans on the regular and is either faux-reluctant or genuinely reluctant. Cat behavior.

Barry, however, is SUCH a puppy. He’s high energy. He sticks his nose into everything. He constantly gets himself into situations and then looks at others with the big sad eyes asking “how he got here” and “I want out”. He wants to eat all the time and will steal food — but when bucked off he just kind of is like “aw, darn,” and may try again in two minutes. He’s got that neglected shelter dog rizz, he’s kind of sad sometimes and a little pitiful. If someone doesn’t like him, he just keeps trying until they do or they die. His relationship to cats is tenuous because they seem to tolerate him but he’s also fucking obnoxious and ruins their peace and quiet. Has a deep sense of right and wrong and it’s somewhat taught through commands and sometimes just instinct he acts on — like a dog who pulls its owner on a leash to investigate or run away from something. When he’s calm he’s very sweet and very nice and very cute but when he’s high energy he’s a menace. He overall looks super sweet but could fucking kill you. Sometimes he gets ferocious and barking and then he’s actually genuinely frightening and sends everything running. He doesn’t like being that though and typically just wants to hang out. He wants his people around him all the time and doesn’t like to be alone. Loves affection. Loves giving affection. Like, what a puppy man, I don’t know what to tell ya.

Anyway. There’s my coldflash thoughts of today.
