Three Sunnies AU part 3
You can find previous parts by searching ”Three Sunnies AU” on Tumblr. The Baudelaires are triplets named Sunny, Suzy and Sally and are all in toddler age.
- The Wide Window -
Mr Poe drops the triplets off at Damocles Dock
But then he immidiately lefts them there, saying that their Aunt Josephine ”probably will pick them up”
So they wait with their little luggage on the dock
Then a taxi man shows up and asks them why someone so small as them are left alone
Fortunately he understands baby talk and is like ”Oh Josephine! I know her! I’ll take you to her!”
Josephine slowly opens the door when they arrive, startled by the taxi driving away
She is extremly overprotective over the triplets. Like, really.
Suzy touches lightly on the table in the kitchen, and Josephine basicly screams and lifts her up, saying that the table could tip over and crush her
Suzy: ”I don’t think a table will just flip over if I touch it, but okay, crazy lady”
Josephine: ”I do not understand what you are saying, dear. Perhaps I need to teach you some grammar.”
She even considers buying a baby leash to keep the toddlers from roaming around her house and hurting themselves
All three of them get rattles as gifts because that was the only thing Josephine thought was safe
Also she has no clue about childrens toys and just assume all babies love rattles
The girls hate rattles
When Aunt Josephine goes to the market, she puts the girls in a tight stroller where they have to squeeze themselves to fit all three
But it also makes them more or less stuck in the stroller
So when Olaf shows up dressed as Captain Sham, they can do nothing but hiss at him (which makes Josephine gasp and apologise for their behaviours)
The day after meeting Sham, Josephine wants to invite him over
Sham wanted to meet her outside the house, but Josephine didn’t want to leave the triplets alone
But she does put them to bed, telling them they need a nap
And Olaf sneaks up and locks the door because he knows what these little gremlins can do
The girls actually do fall asleep, but they wake up as they hear a glass breaking
So they escape from their cribs and bit the lock open, and actually brings their rattles to protect them
Slowly they crawl down the stairs and sees a figure who had jumped out the window
Sally: ”Did Josephine crush the glass just like that? No wonder she said everything was dangerous!”
Then Olaf comes in
”I am sorry dears, but your Aunt Josephine is dead. She jumped out from the window.”
He then starts to read loudly to them her suicide letter
But the girls do not pay attention, as they notice something in the back
When Olaf is done he tells them he is going to call Mr Poe and just drops the letter on the ground
The girls look on the back of the letter, where there seems to be a drawing of some sort
The drawing shows a stick figure jumping out the window, then taking a jetski to a cave
Sunny looks out at the window and sees in the distance a motor steering to a cave
So they plan to follow her there, but before they can figure it out, the hurricane arrives and basicly breaks the house apart
The triplets are so small that they almost immidiately fall out of the window through the broken hole
But they hold themselves on the cliff thanks to their teeth, and so they carefully climb down
On the bottom of the cliff, there is an old sailing boat that just lied there because I say so, the plot has to go on so it’s a random sailboat there ok good
Olaf kind of sees this, but he isn’t sure because of the fog
The girls manage to sail out the boat just in time for the house to fall down into pisces into the lake
Which gives the sailboat a boost
It’s unclear how they manage to sail but they are smart fictional babies in Rugrats class so they can take care of themselves pretty good
And they end up at the cave, where Aunt Josephine is very glad to see them
Josephine: ”Oh my godness! You came! But without an adult? Don’t tell me Olaf saw my drawing on the back!”
Sunny: ”No, he is far too stupid to look at the back of the paper. We came alone.”
Josephine: ”Wait, did you three crack it alone?”
Suzy: ”Yeah. Sunny just said that.”
Anyway they sail back as soon as the storm lays off because Josephine was hungry
But they encounter the leeches like, right away and Josephine screams
Which attracts a boat that happens to be a boat where Olaf is on
Olaf: ”I found this paper. Nice drawing. Only took me like an hour to crack.”
Sally: ”We cracked it in only a few minutes, you fool.”
Since Josephine doesn’t want the children to die, she basicly thrown them over to Olaf’s boat
As she climbs on herself, she tells him how she is going to tell everyone that Captain Sham is just a disguise
Which makes Olaf throw her overboard without hesitation
As they reach the dock, Poe greets them and is delighted the triplets are saved and well by their new father Captain Sham
The triplets are like ”father?!”
And together they bite Olaf’s pegleg to reveal his tatoo
Poe gasps. ”Count Olaf!”
And while Poe is gasping and Olaf is shocked by having his foot exposed, the girls sneak away on a truck
Yes I know I did that for my Quagmire-Baudelaire switch AU as well but I actually like the children sneaking on a truck more than taking a train to the mill with Poe
And so, the three toddlers Sunny, Suzy and Sally sit on the back of a truck full of wooden boxes, driving away from everything

Little Devil
warnings: cursing | vague references to child abuse | age regression
|two|
Jason stared down at the girl bowing before him. She was a foot and some inches shorter than him standing at a solid five feet. Her once milk chocolate colored hair was fanning around her face, but he didn’t concentrate on that. No, he paid attention to the white strip curling through her hair. He had no doubt that if she were to look up then her eyes would be glowing green.
“My apologies for declining to answer your messages,” she stated into the night. “I had not known that it was the Born-Again Prince that was attempting to contact me.”
“Mila,” he groaned exasperated. Jamila Al Ghul. Daughter of Nyssa Raatko and Slade Wilson after Ra Al Ghul decided to play mad scientist with his daughter’s genes. Sister to Conner Hawke/Al Ghul/Queen whichever one he was going by these days. The only friend he had made while in Talia’s care. “I told you to stop calling me that.”
“Did you honestly think that I was going to stop, dear cousin,” she questioned as she stood from her crouch. The two of them stared at each other before folding into a hug. It had been awhile since they had last seen each other. “Are the rumors true? Are you the new Heir to the Demon?”
Jason grimaced, “Yes. And before you ask, so are the rumors about Nyssa attacking Talia.”
Jamila sneered, “I always knew Mother held no honor. Despite my resentment of him, I am thoroughly grateful that Grandfather chose not to reveal my existence to either of my parents.”
Jason sighed and ran a hand across his face, “Despite everything, T is doing well and she’s safe. I need a favor from you though.”
His cousin slouched a little and crossed her arms, “The Big and Bad Red Hood needs a favor from mwah? Oh, whatever shall I be?”
“No need for the snark,” Jason crossed his own arms looking at her. Her own eyes glowed with the power of the pit behind them. He didn’t want to know how she ended up in such a predicament. He knew she could take of herself. He knew she could overcome the effects of the pit. If anything, it just made his skin crawl as recounted his own experience with the magical waters. “What I do need is for someone to be out there getting me intel. I need a link to the League so I can know Shiva’s process on helping T and if she needs any backup. I also need someone with ears on the ground for whatever it is Nyssa might be planning.”
“And pray tell, why you cannot do this yourself?”
“From what I’ve been told, I’m the reason that Nyssa attacked Talia. If I step outside of Gotham, then I’m going to have eyes on me everywhere. I need to keep a low profile.”
Jamila hummed as she looked him over. She ran a hand through her hair. “The wishing well near Ivy’s Garden. Whatever information I managed to get then that’s where I’m going to leave it.”
“Don’t you want to be the Heir instead, Mila?”
“Not a chance in Heaven or Hell,” she scoffed.
Jamila moved towards the edge of the rooftop the two of them were standing on. A slight breeze picked up and blew her hair through the air. She turned to look at him and the fierce expression on her face soften into something gentle, “Jason, do be careful. You may not be my cousin by blood, but you are the cousin of my heart. I will destroy the world thrice over if it meant that you keep some happiness.”
She fell backwards off the edge before he could give promise to her words. But he watched as she appeared a few buildings over and heading away from the streets of Gotham and he wonders if she can hear his silent pleads that she do the same.
--
When Jason made it back to the manor, he slipped in through the window leading to his old room. A quick glance at his bed and he could see Talia still lying there sleeping peacefully. Even in her sleep, she still looked like a warrior princess.
He sighed deeply. He needs to find a way to help her get back to her rightful age asap. But… but a part of him wanted to delay it as long as it was possible. He wanted to give her the childhood she should have had instead of the one she was forced to live.
He removed his boots and armor from his body before walking into the bathroom to slip into more comfortable clothing. He checked to see if Talia was still asleep before carefully moving two of the floorboards and placing the minimum weapons, he had carried on his person back in their place. With one last check on his charge, he reestablishes the rigged security system on the window that he made. Bruce and the others were so sure that the motion detectors would catch anybody sneaking onto the premises, but Jason learned his way around those from the very first moment he put on the pixie boots. At least with his security, whoever might try to break it would lose their fingers and then their life when Jason arrived to catch them.
Talia sacrificed everything for him. It’s only right that he repays the favor.
Jason made his way out the room with one more glance at Talia before softly closing the door. When he turned around, Cass was standing there. He quirked an eyebrow. “Guard duty,” was all she said.
He nodded his head and the two of them continued down the hallway. Making their way to the kitchen where the rest of the family had gathered before Jason left to make contact with Mila. Three days had already passed with Talia being stuck as a toddler and he was no close to figuring out how to help her. They had no knowledge if it was magic, science or even technology that made her this way.
“Ah, Master Jason, welcome back. Have a seat. I’ll bring out something for you,” Alfred greeted, walking off before Jason could protest. He shook his head with a fond smile and made his way to the dining room where the rest of the family was waiting.
“I’m just saying Bruce, we shouldn’t be distributing so many resources to help that-that woman after all she’s done to this family. It’ll be for the best to keep her as she is. At worst with our help, we can keep her from turning into the Talia we know today and at best, we can just ship her off to another family.”
It had been years since Jason had felt any effects from the pits. Maybe it had ignited after seeing the evidence on his cousin or maybe the anger he was feeling at Barbara’s words were strong enough to relight it. Either way, he could feel it nipping at the back of his mind... Staying there. Stagnant. It was more of a tool for him to use instead of a leash to control him.
“Look Gordon, I get you have your issues with Talia. But you don’t know jackshit about her and if you speak another word about her, then I’d happily show you exactly just how you’re not actually all that great.”
The rest of them startled not having noticed him come in, but he only had eyes for Barbara. He looked up to her. Cherished her even. She was his batgirl. But Talia was his mother and he wont stand for any ill will to her.
“Jason, what Babs was trying to say—” Dick began, but Jason rose a hand in the air. “She can speak for herself, Dick, and she made it perfectly clear how she felt. I’m making it known how I feel, and I won’t stand for any slander against her. You can speak about whatever problem you have with her on your own time, but so long as she’s here… so long as I am here, then you will keep your thoughts to yourself or leave her wellbeing to me and go back to playing with your computers.”
The two held a small staring match as she tried to gauge how serious he was, and he expertly conveyed the threat in his eyes to the next person that spoke on Talia negatively. She nodded her head at him before turning away. Jason took a deep breath and mentally pushed the pit away. He had been doing good and he didn’t need a relapse.
He kept on to his seat and thank Alfred as he placed his food in front of him. He said a quick blessing over his food just like Talia had demanded of him before he slowly began to it.
“Um, Jason, what did your contact say,” he heard Timmy ask from his seat. Jason looked up to see him typing furiously on his computer with one hand and reaching for the coffee cup that Cass was carefully keeping out of his hands.
“She didn’t tell me much and I didn’t press for much. What she did say is that the rumors about who the new Heir is and how fast the information surrounding Nyssa’s attack is spreading.”
Everyone’s brow furrowed. To know that there was someone out there that might be getting ready to start the biggest war in the criminal world was frustrating. They didn’t know who they were looking for or what to expect from them.
“Well, did she at least tell you who the Heir was,” Stephanie questioned. All eyes turned to him and he narrowed his eyes at her. He took great care of what he alluded with his body language before he answered. Heaving a deep sigh and taking on a look of exasperation, he set his fork down and ran a hand through his hair.
“I already knew who the Heir was and believe me when I say they want nothing to do with the title.”
Tim went back to typing on his computer, “Still it would be good know who the Heir is just in case they cause trouble later down the line.”
Jason scowled at the brat, and here he thought Timmy was his favorite. He then sent a silent prayer of forgiveness to Jamila and he swore he could her sharpening her knives and cursing at him. Jason sighed as if he was exhausted with the topic and didn’t want to let this particular amount of leverage go. “Her name’s Jamila. You’d probably find better information on her if you looked up Death Demon. It’s her code name, but she’s even more of a ghost in the underground world than the Winter Soldier from your comics, Timmers. But she is real. I met her a couple of times while training with the League. She put a knife to my throat and told me to stop killing all of her teachers before she got finished punishing them.”
“Am I the only one trying to figure out why Jason seems to be on first name basis with assassins,” Dick exclaimed.
Jason snorted, “I was one myself, Dickhead. I worked directly under Talia before she let my leash go and set me out on the world. Hell, in some parts, I’m still considered one. There are many places that are living in fear afraid of the Red Ronin to come back and rain down vengeance.”
“I don’t think that’s something to be proud of,” Duke muttered from his spot at the table.
Small patter of feet caught everyone’s attention and Jason looked over to the doorway to see Talia peeking in. Her features were twisted in a scowl and Jason was sure that only he and Cass could see the fear lurking in her eyes.
He rose up from his seat immediately catching her attention and then she disappeared. When he sat back down, he pushed his chair further from the table to catch the small body that landed in his lap.
“Hello, تاليا,” he muttered as he scooted back near the table. She laid her head on his chest and whispered, “Hello, Jason” in English. Jason nearly cried with joy. In the past three days alone, she had spoken in French, Spanish, German, Greece, Swahili and Chinese. Sometimes she would switch languages mid-sentence. It was nice to know that she could speak English also though he still felt like a scolded kid whenever she rose a brow at him when he stumbled from her dialect switch.
He handed her the fork in his hands and let her eat the fruit off his plate. Another thing everyone learned was that she was a vegetarian. But she had spoken to him in silence and broken words that Ra had already been training such weakness from her and forcing her to eat meat. She hates it but she won’t go against her father.
“Hi, Talia. I’m Stephanie!”
Right, despite that they had been here for three days coming and going because like hell was, he going to spend the night at the manor… Talia successfully managed to avoid everyone in the house. Everyone except Alfred and Tim that is. She had told him that watching them concentrate on their task was soothing and orderly. It reminded her of home.
She looked up at Stephanie with a blank stare before looking back at Jason. “It’s up to you.”
“Bright.”
Jason nodded his head, “Hey, Steph. Tone it down a little.” He looked backed down at Talia who nodded her head. “Hello, Stephanie.” The girl in questioned almost squeal in delight before the rest of them started to introduce themselves.
When Damian introduced himself, Talia blinked before leaning his direction. She turned back to Jason, “He looks like Mother’s brother. Family?”
Jason pretend not to notice the emotions in Damian’s eyes. He knows that the boy knows little of his Grandmother’s family. “He is my brother.”
“Potential,” she stated with a raised brow. “Worthy of Nobutora name.”
Talia smiled lightly at Damian before she disappeared from his lap and the sound of her feet were heard back in the hall as she headed back to the room. Jason turned to look at Damian who was staring after his mother with a shocked look on his face.
“She had never told me that before.”
Jason crouched down beside him, “It doesn’t mean it’s not true.”
He ruffled the kid’s hair and gave thanks to Alfred for the dinner. He walked out of the room with everyone else wondering what Talia told Damian. “Call me if you get a lead or anything,” he called behind him.
He needed to get back to his apartment and give Talia her bath before they settled in for the night. The Bats could handle patrol for one more night.

riley mckenna soft quotes part 3
“Wouldn’t have done it if I hadn’t hated the alternative.”
“Investment banking wasn’t your thing? I’m shocked.”
“He took the glass from her hand and gave it a sniff. “Nope. That’s almond you’re getting.”
“You’re worse than a wine snob,”
“Riley’s mouth went dry, and she reached for her water glass, wondering just how inappropriate it would be to dump it over her head in an effort to keep from jumping his bones in public.”
“I think small’s the way to go,” Sam said, topping off both his and Riley’s glasses even though he’d have preferred whisky to the fruity red.
“Yeah, because small weddings worked out so well for you?” she asked without heat. “You stay out of this. I want to be flower girl.”
“Ooh, you know what would be a more appropriate topic?” Riley asked, eyes wide. “Failed engagements! Emma, you go!”
“Riley hissed at him. “Stop being rational. I’m trying to ruminate here.”
“You’re not a sham. You’re a gorgeous woman who knows herself well enough to wait for the right moment.”
“Strong fingers gripped her wrist, and then she was being hauled back toward the curb, his hand already in the air for a cab. “Hey,” she exclaimed. “I want ice cream!”
“You can’t just decide to get a dog on a whim, you know,” he said.
“Sure I can. And it’s not a whim. I’ve always wanted one. It just happened to be today that Grace called and said her mother’s friend had a litter of my very favorite dog breed of all time right when I’m finally in a pet-friendly apartment.”
“You don’t even have a leash. Or food. Or toys. Or flea medicine, or a brush.”
“Don’t worry. There are these crazy, faddish new shops called pet stores that might be able to hook me up.”
“He caught up with her on the sidewalk. The good news? He was still carrying the boy dog. Bad news?
He looked pissssssed.”
“Good for me?”
“You know. A buddy.”
“I have a buddy. Liam.”
“Yeah. Because he’s cuddly.”
“How long until the puppies go to sleep?”
Riley paused in the process of tossing a stuffed squirrel for the two dogs. “They’re not toddlers, Sam. I don’t think we get to establish a bedtime.”
“But what if they want to play after we put them in there?”
Sam gave her a look. “What if I want to play?”
Riley scrambled to her feet. “Okay, puppies! Bedtime!”
“He’s just cautious,” Sam said, crossing his arms. “Your wild woman out there’s going to be a handful when she gets older.”
“Nah. My dog is just getting it out of her system now. Your dog will go through a rebellious stage, getting all sassy in his teens.”
“It’s a dog-eat-dog world, Compton,” she said, heading back inside. “Kill or be killed and all that.”
“Riley looked around desperately. “Is there, like, a safe word I can use to escape this conversation?”
“We really do need to change his name though,” Camille said in her rarely used gentle voice. The one that meant no arguing.
Riley shrugged. She’d sort of figured that’d be the case. And she probably would have changed it herself before final copy edits, just out of common decency.
Sam couldn’t—shouldn’t—get mad at her for telling the truth, but he probably could get rightfully pissed about outright slander.
“Use whatever name you want,” Riley said with a little wave. “Might I suggest Chickenshit? Or Le Big Baby?”
“I actually do have an answer for that,” Riley muttered. “It’s called hindsight. Because Fate has a fantastic poker face. You never know what’s in the cards until someone dumps the deck all over the ground.”
“Something I might start to regret if your dog destroys one more pair of my shoes.”
“What can I say?” Riley said, patting his cheek fondly. “Pippy has a fondness for old sneakers from 1987.”

Future Serial Killer [ongoing]
Chapter 39
The Sanctuary was bustling with life and loud voices as usual while Carl showed their new addition around the lands, pushing a stroller that one of the other Saviours had found for Jasmine. Two days had passed since their trip to Hilltop and the assault on their truck by Liùsaidh, spent by Carl in the gym and in the new addition’s room, attempting to settle her in properly and making sure she didn’t keep hitting the wall and making her fists bloody by gifting her a punching bag.
Since then, the Saviour Queen had been trying to teach his daughter how to speak, both him and Negan fighting to convince Jasmine to say “Dada” and “Papa” respectively, only for the toddler to stare up at them with blank eyes and no idea what they were saying. Carl had coaxed her with bites of every baby food they could make, blending fruits, vegetables and even sausages to see if his little girl was more of a carnivore baby, but all his efforts produced nothing in the end.
Jasmine continued to babble and giggle in response to his words and everyone else’s, her big blue eyes focusing intently on his like he was the only person in the world. Despite not being able to talk, his daughter was certainly good at eye contact.
‘Carl?’ The sound of Liùsaidh’s voice distracted him from his rambling thoughts about his daughter, his name sounding foreign on her tongue not used to speaking English.
He turned his head to look at her, giving a genuine smile now that he had grown out of his fear of her knife skills. After watching her kill an entire herd of walkers on her own with just her two daggers, he had been wary of her murderous skill, but her throw of a knife into the walker behind his head changed his mind about that fear.
‘Not knife you, just them.’ The young woman had reassured in her broken English, causing him to relax for the rest of the walk they had been on.
She had proved herself protective of her allies that first day they knew each other, something that was in short supply these days now that almost a decade had passed since the start of the apocalypse and everyone had found their allegiances and settlements.
Carl could tell Liùsaidh had no one before she attacked their truck other than Sorcha, the mud caking her arms and neck barely washed by river water never mind a shower. She hadn’t been anywhere with people since two years after the beginning, according to her signing, meaning she’d been alone for six years straight. The teen couldn’t imagine being alone for all that time and staying sane, but Liùsaidh had done it.
‘What’s wrong?’ He signed in response to her saying his name when he finally focused on reality again, wondering if she had seen something that he hadn’t.
Two days with her was all he had needed to figure out how sharp her senses were.
Liùsaidh shook her head at his question, pointing to Sorcha who stood beside Jasmine’s stroller like a guard dog and then to the grassy area beside the entrance gates. It took Carl a moment to realise what she meant and when he did, he nodded, watching her let Sorcha off the leash and the dog subsequently bounding over to the grass and peeing.
He smiled, a faint expression, before he spotted Daniel and Cara signing back and forth to each other by the gates. He gestured to Liùsaidh to follow, coming up to stand beside his friends and putting Jasmine’s stroller brakes on. The other two turned to look at them when the little girl made a loud squealing noise to get their attention.
Carl noticed Cara’s eyes flicker over Liùsaidh before her hand rested on the pistol in her holster, clearly untrustworthy of the new face. Daniel got behind Cara a little, seeming wary too, causing the Queen to speak up before any fights broke out between the trio that would likely end in the death of the two established Saviours.
‘She doesn’t speak any English, you trigger-happy assholes, tap your chests and say your names.’
‘If she doesn’t know any English, how are we supposed to speak to her?’ Cara frowned, eyeing Liùsaidh suspiciously still which was visibly making the young woman anxious.
‘How does Daniel speak to you? Sign language.’ He scolded them both, offering the young woman a sympathetic smile which she returned awkwardly, clearly not used to smiling at anyone.
Cara nodded with a sigh, giving Liùsaidh the same awkward smile before tapping her chest and shoving Daniel to do the same who had already kneeled down to say high to Jasmine. He stood up straight with a grin, tapping his chest.
‘Daniel.’
‘Cara.’
It was Liùsaidh’s turn to glare suspiciously at the other two this time, her walls raised until she was sure the new people were safe. Then she brought her hands up to sign, speaking in her native language like she did all the time while she signed so that they knew what the words meant.
‘Toilichte coinneachadh riut.’
‘Pleased to meet you too. Carl, how long has she been here? I haven’t seen you or her in the past two days.’ Cara complained, smiling at Jasmine when she began to make noises again to get attention.
The teen moved to pick his daughter up from her stroller when she started to babble, worried something was wrong until Liùsaidh stepped in and kneeled down to the toddler, letting her grab her hand and play with it to keep her quiet. The three Saviours stared at her strangely, confused, until Liùsaidh noticed their expressions and lifted her one free hand to fingerspell her words.
‘Bha piuthar bheag agam o chionn bhliadhnaichean.’
Carl nodded, understanding now why she had become so fiercely protective over Jasmine even in the short space of a few days. She must have reminded her of her little sister. He wanted to ask about everything he didn’t know about the woman, but he figured that would be better to do when his daughter wasn’t gripping onto Liùsaidh’s fingers like a life raft and the young woman wasn’t staring at her like she was beyond perfect. He knew his daughter was perfect already, he was just glad other people agreed with him.
‘I think she’s collecting aunties.’
‘She’s collecting everyone, aunties, uncles, Robbie and Luka too. She’s the star of the Sanctuary.’ He smiled proudly, petting Jasmine’s hair when she looked up at him before going back to playing peek-a-boo with Liùsaidh.
The scene of the two of them playing together put Carl at ease, his comfort reappearing now that he knew Liùsaidh wasn’t going to hurt his little girl. He kneeled down beside the stroller to scratch Sorcha’s ears, watching his daughter bond with the lonely stranger who just needed someone to care about her until Cara grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the quiet scene, looking ready to scold him.
‘You’re trusting a complete stranger to go near your daughter without knowing what she’s thinking, are you insane? She could be saying anything she wants to us and signing what she wants us to hear, I don’t trust her.’ The older woman insisted, causing Carl to sigh and shake his head.
‘She could have killed both me and Negan in that truck on the way home. She could have left me and Jasmine for dead in the middle of the woods on our walk. She’s had plenty of opportunities to kill me off so no, I’m not insane. I trust her because she hasn’t killed me yet. I need more people like her because we don’t know what’s out there waiting to come and kill us, my dad could be planning to straight up murder me, for all I know, so I need people like her to protect me, my family, everything that Negan’s built.’ He fought back, running a hand through his hair and glancing over at Liùsaidh and Jasmine just to make sure they were okay.
Cara shook her head, still not appearing convinced as she leaned against the wall of the factory, still watching him carefully.
‘Well say she is on our side and she trusts you as much as you trust her, how are you going to make sure she doesn’t kill one of our allies for simply going to say hello to Jazz? I imagine she’d kill anyone who touched her at this stage.’
‘I’m working on that part. If I can figure out what good and bad are in her language, I can establish a code so that she knows who she’s meant to be threatened by and who she isn’t meant to threaten.’ He explained, putting a hand over his mouth to yawn as the sky began to get darker.
Both of them looked up at the sky, watching as the colour darkened slowly and the cloud cover got worse.
‘We should get inside before that rain hits, come on.’ Carl got everybody back inside and sounded the rain alarm so that everybody could get inside and no one would get sick from the cold.
‘We’ll have to start distributing the blankets and switching the heating on, I have a feeling we’re going to get snow.’ Cara predicted as she shut the door behind the last person, locking it properly so the wind couldn’t take it down during the night.
‘It hasn’t snowed in years, Cara, don’t get your hopes up.’ Carl rolled his eyes at her suggestion, motioning to Liùsaidh that he’d be one minute so he could take her back to the room she’d been allocated. The young woman shook her head, crouching down to say goodbye to Jasmine who was still in her stroller, staring up at everybody while they bustled around, getting ready to set up for dinner.
‘Chì mi a-màireach thu, a nighean bhòidheach, bi math dha d ’athair.’ She cooed to the toddler before standing up and signing to Carl that she knew the way back by herself then disappearing through the crowd to get to the living quarters.
‘She’s not eating with us?’
‘She’s used to the quiet, I think the main hall is just too noisy for her at dinner.’ The teen explained, kneeling down to get Jasmine out of her stroller and lifting the little girl into his arms.
‘Let’s go and get Papa to come downstairs for dinner, huh? He’s being a big lazy bear up there!’ He cooed to make the little girl giggle, clasping hands with Cara as a goodbye before heading upstairs to get his husband to eat.
Opening the door slowly in case Negan had fallen asleep on his documents since Carl last saw him at lunch time, he peeked in and found the man standing by the window, staring out at the rain with his usual leather jacket replaced with a plain blue t-shirt and his jeans turned into pyjama pants.
‘Wearing your old man slippers and lamenting about the rain, King of the World?’ He teased, entering with Jasmine on his hip and wandering over to his husband, causing the older man to laugh and pull him against his side when he got close enough.
Jasmine clambered from Carl’s arms onto Negan, hugging around his neck and burying her head in the man’s neck, not making a sound other than the little giggle that escaped her.
‘Hi, sweetheart.’ Negan smiled when his daughter latched onto him, holding the little girl up and staring out at the rain again.
‘You think it’ll snow this year? Cara does.’
Negan shrugged, looking down at his daughter with a smile.
‘It might. Be nice for kiddo to see snow at least once in her life.’
The two of them watched from the upstairs window as the rain came heaving down onto the paved ground outside, Carl feeling Negan’s arm wrap around him as they observed the weather together, Jasmine wrapped around Negan’s neck and babbling happily with her stuffed fox in hand.
Translation for what Liùsaidh says to Jasmine near the end:
"I will see you tomorrow, pretty girl, be good for your father."

How to Prepare Your Dog To Your Newborn Baby
If you should be just like a lot of the populace, your friend can be the initial"baby." Lots of men and women worry needlessly about the way their pet will probably manage a kid in their lifetime. Many owners think to eliminating their family pets as a result of fears they could hurt the infant. Please don't try so unless there's not any alternative choice. Many dogs, when trained and treated correctly, are designed for life with a toddler well.
Kids and pets create wonderful companions when increased correctly together and instructed how to act with eachother. Kids that grow up in a house with pets learn love and respect for creatures, and what's more, respect for lifetime. As the kids age they could find responsibility by helping care for these critters. Animals improve our children's lives outside view.
Having an infant can cause issues for both dogs and humans, since canine has been treated otherwise, and due to this, might behave otherwise. Some owners baby canine longer, causing your dog to become tender and hard to take care of. Different owners get over stressed and punish your dog for ordinary, interested behaviour supporting the baby. Frequently our pets would be at the guts of the society, our"babies" in the event that you'd, and certainly will acquire"jealous" or even equipped to take care of losing that status into the brand newest baby. If you're eager to really generate the full time and attempt to ready your pets to the newest coming, everybody is able to live in harmony.
On occasion the dogs eventually become over protective of their infant. Many owners like and even choose canine being a protector for your own infant. As soon as it's normal for your pet to turn out to be protective of their baby, it's dangerous for your dog to turn out to be over protective and perhaps not let anybody close to the baby. Each one the aforementioned mentioned scenarios may cause your dog getting kicked from your home!
Since you're making preparations to make home baby, you want to get ready your pet (s) to exactly the exact same ahead of time if at all possible. When most dogs is likely to be quite tender with the baby, most dogs usually do not find babies as humans as a result of the size, smell, and also the odd sounds they create. By finding enough opportunity to present your puppy some additional attention and love he needs to be nice and maybe not turn into lousy behaviour to receive your consideration. You want to get ready yourself and educate your puppy to that which lies ahead. This will make sure they are ready and prepared to just simply accept the new relative using loving and open paws.
Employing soothing remedies (herbs, aromatherapy, oils) or prescription medications are also the possibility to help alleviate a much better behaved dog. You're able to speak with your vet to check out such services and products and also the consequences related to their usage. I will be a believer at the holistic process whenever you can, rather than using medication.
Pleaseplease be aware your pet is a creature and creatures can snack or do problems for a kid, unintentionally or intentionally. However wellbehaved or enjoying your puppy is NEVER LEAVE YOUR DOG ALONE WITH YOUR BABY! I can't stress that enough. Accidents may occur. You don't need to hurt your infant or really need to knock out one's pet due to an unfortunate, and also potentially avoidable, episode.
If you're unsure your pet encourage your infant, please seek the help of a skilled trainer or behaviorist before making any decisions.
Contrary to popular belief, your own behaviour together, along with also toward your pet things. It will make or break the pet's approval of and esteem for the baby. If you behave as a pioneer, you'll be treated as a pioneer. You would like your puppy to honor every individual being on your household, together with your baby. You have to teach your pet esteem to your baby. This is likely to make life easier for those involved.
Be firm but honest -
Don't allow your pet get away with things, but avoid being a drill sergeant either! Attempt to generate any corrections as gentle as you can, but be certain that they're effective. Attempt to enjoy your pet and working out - you need to like it or one will require to keep on! Click here glow in the dark collar
Your Style of voice things -
DO NOT YELL in your puppy! Convey the meaning of the control throughout the modulation of voice - fit your voice into everything it is that it is you might be telling your own dog. Commands should really be succinct and short, at a low, nearly growling voice. Your voice must not receive high while you give your control. Don't sing for the own dog or ask canine a query! You aren't going to receive the solution you would like! When giving compliments, seem just as if you mean ! It needs to be the contrary of a control - high pitched as well as enthused. If your furry friend becomes too excited once you praise himtone it down somewhat and speak gently. Your furry friend will still know he could be doing a fantastic job, however he will probably be less inclined to want to jump around and become mad.
Be calm and assertive-
Our dogs feed of their energies and emotions. This affects their behaviours and responses. If we have been relaxed and convinced, our dogs may probably have exactly the same, also also be aware that we're LEADING them, plus so they don't need to lead us.
Use a cage -
If your puppy will not use a crate, then now's the time for you to get started. A crate isn't cruel, it could really be a fantastic and safe location for the furry friend. Confining your puppy at times, like for times or sleep when you can't manage, is not any different than putting your infant in its crib to get your same. It's in fact quite simple to show your pet to simply just accept being at the crate. A lot of men and women believe your dog who's not utilized a crate will have difficulty, but this isn't usually correct. My two elderly dogs started utilizing the cage once they were 8 and 7 yrs of age, on the time that my son started running and investigating by himself. This enabled me to learn that my child and my dogs were both so safe and nothing bad might happen. Your son or daughter might be hurt with your furry friend as easy as the youngster might hurt your pet. The issue is in the simple fact if your pet gets even the smallest danger to your infant or even unintentionally hurts your own baby, it's the puppy's fault. It's maybe perhaps not fair for your dog for some thing like this to happen as you weren't supervising the 2 together at all moments!
Eliminate bad etiquette -
Bad etiquette can't be accepted since they are sometimes dangerous to some brand new baby and also a brand new mom. Jumping and nipping are behaviours which will need to be stopped straight away. Stealing and rough-play additionally ought to get nipped at the bud immediately.
Teach your puppy how to be more calm and tender, by praising and handling this behaviour.
Running commands to regular activity and also play leaves listening easy and ordinary for the dog. It will become natural for your dog also it's less-likely your pet will probably be outofcontrol. It's also excellent for you too, since it's certain you are training your puppy regular, which makes you the first choice - maybe perhaps not the follower.
Exercise Is Crucial for good behaviour -

Your pet dog backpack instantly puts your pet in to work style, that'll assist to drill your own brain. In the event that you calmly balance a few weight on every side, such as water bottles, then it'll further the sum of bodily energy that's expended by your furry friend. Teaching your puppy to walk well near your stroller is additionally crucial. It's quite tough and dangerous to possess your dog pulling out and outside of hands when trying to go a stroller. If your plan is on using an infant carrier, sling, backpack or carseat your pet should act to the leash and walk on you, perhaps maybe not tug you. It's a great idea to rehearse with the apparatus before baby comes (make work with of a doll set of their baby) to ensure you are able to solve any kinks or issues.
Have routine watering sessions along with your pet in order she doesn't forget her orders and recalls she has to listen at constantly. This helps to drill her mind! Attempt to work the orders in to regular activity to ensure that it will become 2nd nature for her.
Is the pet allowed onto your own furniture? -
If a dog is now allowed on the furniture you might need to reevaluate this because your infant will probably be to the furniture a whole good deal. Dog dirt and hair may irritate your infant. Additionally you do not want to wash up after your dog. Your dog may also unintentionally hurt the infant leaping on the furniture or depriving herself. It's ideal to confine usage of this furniture that issues don't occur.
Time-out to the puppy -
Make certain that you provide your dog away time from your infant to repay. Time workouts are a great tool to permit your pet to maintain its sanity and for once they're doing some thing amiss.
Your brand new program along with your puppy -
It's time to re adjust canine's program to familiarize her with all the up coming changes. Think realistically about exactly the time you have to your dog for matters such as excursions, feeding, potty breaks, attention and play. Attempt to preserve the program consistent for the pet so she will not truly sense unnecessary strain out of the changes which are happening before your child develops. Having as little disruptions as you can may assist you accomplish this objective. Once your pet feels safe and can be employed into the new pattern, make an effort to begin using slight variations in your everyday happenings. If your child arrives things don't necessarily go as intended. You can take every intention of staying on program and necessarily something will transform which program! Babies tend not to follow programs! Do attempt to remain on program, when you can, in order for the pet is permitted any semblance of a regular. Dogs feel safety once the guidelines and patterns stay exactly the same.
Pay attention to your puppy -
It's time to instruct your dog to expect extra attention out of you personally in just one sitting. Once the child arrives you won't need exactly the exact identical quantity of high quality time and energy to spend on your pet, however, it's still critical to create time for your own dog. Schedule routine 5 to 10 min sessions daily where you pay attention to a furry friend. You certainly can certainly do things like drama, grooming, petting or just speak with your pet. This permits your puppy to comprehend he is still an significant part one's own life. You want to instruct your dog this time might function with or without your baby. Additionally, this is a fantastic time to unwind and unwind as pets have become healing. Training and exercise are all good places to begin out to accomplish a serene and balanced dog. If those don't work your pet could possibly have some thing amiss with him, like a physical or psychological issue. Seek the advice of your vet along with local puppy behaviorist or trainer. They ought to have the ability to direct you in the ideal direction. They could help inform you of this path you should take, while behaviour modification, drugs, or even alternative remedies.
Is the puppy tender? -
Teaching your pet how to be tender is also vitally essential therefore he won't unintentionally harm the infant. Most dogs utilize their teeth a lot of and have to be taught the correct method to make use of their mouths - minus one's teeth!
Does your puppy jump? -
If your furry friend is still a jumper, teaching proper greetings can assist you curb this issue. It's critical your puppy is able to observe people without jumping or becoming too enthused. After the child comes there will be a lot of folks visiting and he'll want to be on his very best behaviour. Start to softly handle your puppy at a more demanding fashion whilst praising good behavior and softly, if at all possible, correcting improper behaviour such as nipping or mouthing. Kids have a tendency to furry friend about, pull tails and ears, put their hands at your pet's head and signature sensitive areas on canine. You want to mimic these behaviours as a way to show your pet exactly what to expect and how to manage it appropriately. Make it a regular habit to take some time on to the floor along with your puppy touching every facet of the body at a fashion that is loving. Assess the community practice teams, or centers, such as classes and be certain that you watch a class so you may view how they train. Make certain you are familiar with their methods and also the teachers. If you aren't permitted to watch a class, please look else where. Trainers that are valid must not have any issue with this and invite one to achieve that.
These are some fundamental commands and activities Your puppy Ought to Be able to perform to ensure He will listen to and be under management:
Walk well on a leash Sit Down Stay Leave-it NO Understand bounds Quiet Attention/Look Drop-it Go For Your Spot/Place Teaching your dog to respond to hand signals are also more beneficial. A sleeping baby is not as prone to receive awakened if you aren't talking.

All dogs consider . Each features a certain reason behind this, and also has a physical requirement to chew. They will need to chew over to exercise their limbs and to discrete pent up frustrations. Excessive chewing may be a strain attribute. To help avoid problems, don't put your self up for failure.
Soiling at the home -
If a pet has an accident inside your residence, or isn't housetrained, then you want to completely wash it precisely to avert further"accidents" or even remarking of the exact places also to keep a sanitary surroundings. Dog urine may contain parasites and other undesired disorder. Giardia, E-Coli, additional parasites and rats are sometimes found from the stool and lots of are transferrable into humans.
Use high-value treats-
Use treats of top value - snacks your pet enjoys and will not normally get - if coping with fresh baby sights, smells and sounds. This tells your pet which all these really are nutrients, and he needs to enjoy them and connect them with rewards, so in the place of sense malice or fear . Be certain that you keep the snacks special, and just use them to the goals of having the puppy familiarized in everything the newest baby will probably resemble.
The wellbeing and cleanliness of your pet is critical -
It's very important your puppy has a clear bill of health insurance and can be clean until you bring your child home. Carry your puppy into the vet to get a checkup to be certain he does not have any health conditions since these could cause undesirable behaviours on your pet which may restrict his entire own life with your infant. Make certain he is uptodate with all shots, or his titer ranges are all good, and he could be worm-free.

If your puppy exits, it's a fantastic concept to initiate a de-shedding app, for example as routine grooming and including an item like Linatone (that you may get in the community pet store, on the web or at any groomers) that features a distinctive mixture of oils to help skin and coat. Take care to not over-bathe your pet since this can lead to skin issues from most dogs. Make certain he has no ticks or fleas as that really is unsanitary and will introduce your infant to health troubles. Additionally, it creates issues as you won't need a lot of time to wash him once the baby is still around. Employing special tick and flea medication may assist you ensure he remains flea-less along with tick-less.
Start teaching your pet to take his toenails and human anatomy discharged when he will come from outside will help with cutting the total quantity of dirt he buys at your home. Additionally, it reduces the chance Your pet will take in Something Which will cause an allergic response in you personally or your infant

Carry a doll-
The thought of carrying out a doll (rather the one who cries) might appear absurd, however it's an excellent means to secure your pet used to a addition to your family. What's different with a kid. Maintaining a child affects your position, along with your mannerisms, which means that your dog has to become comfortable and accepting with the. Canine also has to check out orders and also be obedient once you have the baby or your child is out and around. Employing a doll whilst practicing regular orders will let your pet react better if the baby develops. Baby seems -
Having the pet properly used the noises of an infant can be a fantastic idea. This permits your puppy to familiarize himself with the strange sounds it could possibly well not have heard before therefore it is perhaps not just a surprise if baby returns. Matters such as yelling, gurgling, yelling/screaming, along with baby babble aren't necessarily normal to get your pet dog to listen. There are numerous cds and tapes you could buy for this use. Start the quantity low and expose your own dog for brief intervals in the beginning. Gradually raise the amount and quantity of time that you play with the noises. The next thing to do is always to expose your pet dog into your yard, then in your residence. Get this to a slow process so that your pet can gradually accept it.
Baby scents -
The scents of a kid in many cases are unknown to your dog. Slowly begin to receive your puppy used to those new scents utilizing these services and products that you can utilize for your own infant, such as baby oil, powder, baby wash and diaper lotion. Putting the services and items on infant cribs and baby clothes may additionally help. For those who have relatives or friends who have infants, then ask to borrow properly used and un-washed blankets and burp cloths therefore that your pet can get familiar with the scents of a kid.
The Nursery-
Preparing the nursery allows your pet to get familiar with changes from your home. It enables your puppy to become familiar with the sounds and sights related to baby gear, and hence avoiding jolt when baby develops.
In the event you never want your puppy from the nursery you want to get started restricting access today. Keeping the door closed or perhaps even a baby gate at the door will help to do so. Your dog won't feel overlooked or worried about no more being allowed inside this room. Yet another fantastic idea is always to set your pet dog mattress out the nursery in order for the pet remains near for youpersonally, however, perhaps maybe not within the space. He won't feel banished, however may feel included. Spending some time at the room with no pooch therefore he knows that will soon be ordinary, and it is nolonger his land. Since he starts to recognize that the space is no more his, he'll accept it and also become likely to attempt and have within if the baby comes back home. This helps keep the room tidy and free from hair and dirt. You may have a lot more than enough to wash the nursery since it's!
If your plan is to permit your dog at the nursery begin to show the appropriate behaviours whenever possible. Teach her to be more calm inside there and maybe not to jump around the furniture and baby equipment. It's also a fantastic idea to instruct her todo down-stays when from the nursery so she actually is allowed to be with you and also the baby, however, has gone out of this way and acting. You might also desire a bed or carpet from there which the pet is allowed to lay (eliminate it whenever you and canine aren't at the space ). After the child starts to crawl and continue around you might need to set a restrict on the quantity of time that the dog spends within and not leave the baby with your dog.
Baby's items are Offlimits -
Be certain you always reinforce that the infant's things aren't your pet's things. Though you could have practiced this until the baby came home, dogs don't want reminders.
It's crucial to get rid of diapers precisely to make sure your puppy doesn't buy them. Dogs love items which have individual waste on these, like filthy diapers and feminine merchandise. Keep the items out of reach since they'll make a horrible wreck and therefore so are very bad for the furry friend to consume. They've compounds which aren't good for the pet and will result in blockages. In any case, the swallowing of human waste may make your pet ill (and possess disgusting breath!) .
Teach your puppy to make baby blankets and not to lay or measure . Lay them onto the furniture and a ground to show your pet they are offlimits. If your pet attempts to walk or put them employ a strong"NO" and divert your pet into a proper spot and also have him put out. Whenever your puppy averts those on their or her own, commend him because of his good behaviour with a cure or petting and he'll know that these products aren't at all some thing to really move close. You would like to stop potential accidents to a own baby from the own furry friend whilst baby is lying or hiding underneath the blankets (as frequently babies do!) .
Teach your puppy that toys Participate in him
It's encouraged to show your pet what toys would be his or her exactly that which toys are your infant's before baby arrives to ensure you won't need issues afterwards. Additionally, this is a fantastic idea as you're able to buy toys very similar to that which your baby could own rather than fret about using baby's particular toys to all these exercises. A simple solution to do so would be to make use of peanutbutter (or some thing like it as cream cheese or cheese spread) and sour apple (you may obtain this on the internet or at pet stores). Put bitter apple to the infant's toys along with peanutbutter onto your pet's toys. Before you give the pet the decision about what he wants, choose a tiny bitter apple onto your own finger and wipe it on in your pet's mouth. This will aid your pet to instantly recognize the horrible flavor on the babies toys. If you don't try that bitter apple regularly dilutes and canine should have the ability to have the infant toys as the taste will be bearable. Be certain that you get some snacks prepared to benefit your pet when he selects his possessions on baby's. Put your dog's leash and you're prepared to commence. Place the"marked" toys onto the ground and let your pet pick that toys he favors. When he tries to consider the infant toys, then tell him"no, leave-it", of course when necessary tug away him with the leash using a fast rotational movement. Don't attempt and hurt your dog, simply offer a fast correction since you repeat"no, leave-it". Whenever your puppy does"leave" the babies toys praise and cure. You might even teach your dog the notions of"Mine","Baby's" and"Yours" by the addition of these phrases into working out sessions. After your dog goes because of his toys it is possible to state,"Good! Yours!" After your dog goes to your infant toys state,"No, Leave-it, Baby's". You are able to use exactly the exact identical principle as useful to your infant toys once your dog goes for some thing which is yours by simply substituting"Mine" inplace of"Baby's."
Please be aware that in the event you depart from your infant's toys lying about your puppy will probably decide to make an effort to slip them. The temptation will be too much for her to handle and that she may very well neglect. Don't place her up for failure! Attempt to acquire toys to the dog which are like the infant - no stuffed creatures and items which spin. There are a great deal of superior dog toys which are quite different from toys. Last, just keep a couple of your dog's toys outside at any given moment. This will definitely avoid her falling victim into the syndrome of"everything within my reach is mine!" In case she knows that the 3 toys on a lawn are hers, she'll soon be apt to carry stuff she shouldn't.
If you abide by the instructions put forth within this essay you need to have the ability to accustom your puppy to a own toddler without a lot of difficulty. Bear in mind, if in doubt, always consult with a trainer.

“I still can't believe they're walking.” Seung Hyun said, a proud father’s smile forming on his lips that swiftly morphed into one of his patented frowns, knitted eyebrows and all. “We’re going to have to baby-proof the house. We’ll need baby gates, outlet covers, door latches…”
“Seung Hyun…”
“…locks, doorknob covers, drawer latches…”
You shook your head in amusement at his over-protectiveness. “Seung Hyun!” you called his name again. “We have plenty of time. If it will make you feel better, we can go get supplies tomorrow.”
“Maybe we should go tonight after dinner.” he absentmindedly replied as he took Sung Ja upstairs to change her diaper.
“I’m sure the twins will be completely safe between now and tomorrow.” you said as you followed him to the nursery, Seung Min held tightly in your arms.
“I’m going to have to completely overhaul the entire security system on the villa.” he thoughtfully muttered to himself as if he didn't even hear you, his gaze growing distant as his mind went to work with the numerous plans racing through it. “I’ll need to install more sensors around the art and security cameras so we know where they are at all times in case they somehow get away from us. I’ll need to get skid-proof rugs for the floors and we’ll need more alarms as well as…”
“Seung Hyun!” you exclaimed, stopping to grab hold of him in order to get his attention as you attempted to suppress a giggle. “They're going to be just fine. Babies learn to crawl and walk every day around the world. This isn't something new.”
“But it’s new for us…new for them.” he frowned at you for not obviously sharing in his concern.
You bit your bottom lip as your free hand fell to Seung Hyun's cheek in tender endearment. “I love you so much…you know that?” you smiled at him before pressing your lips to his in a heated kiss that quickly focused him.
“I love you too, princess,” he softly replied.
You stood in front of the mountain of bags before you, trying to suppress the weary sigh that had lodged in your throat as you crossed your arms against your chest. You had never in seen a bigger, more daunting task in your entire life... and you had once been the nanny to triplet toddlers of terror.
You cast a sidelong glance at the man standing beside you, a grim look on his handsome face, his arms crossed against his chest in a mirror image of you. He eyed the mound of purchases that lay on the floor just waiting to be opened up and put to use. You could practically feel the doubt rolling off of him.
You finally turned to him, a smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. “Do you think we forgot anything?” you asked, voice full of amusement.
Seung Hyun turned to face his wife, leveling you with a look of pure frustration. “I can’t begin to imagine how.” he sighed heavily. “It took nearly all day to get it all. I think we finally melted my credit card.”
“Now, we just have to figure out where it's all supposed to go.” you replied, your near grin turning into a disappointed frown with the very thought. “I thought the clerk was going to have a heart attack when we showed up at the check out with two overflowing carts.”
“I told you, ________-ah, you can never be too careful.” he reminded you.
“No, but you can be too fearful.” you shot back. “Really, yeobo, we’re going to have to have a long talk about your paranoia.”
“It’s not paranoia, princess,” he scowled in annoyance, wondering why you didn’t share in his fears about the children. “It’s called being realistic. We have no idea what they're going to get into now that the twins are mobile. We need to be prepared for all possible outcomes.”
“I’m surprised you didn’t buy them a leash.” you huffed, watching as one of the larger bags teetering on the very top of the pile began to lean before sliding down the mound and crashing onto the floor, all of its contents spilling out and rolling across the hardwood.
“That’s what I forgot!” he exclaimed, snapping his fingers. “I guess I can pick one up tomorrow on my way into work.”
You turned a horrified look at your stoic husband, mouth hanging open in utter shock. “Choi Seung Hyun!” you angrily cried. “You will not tie up our children like…like some…dog!”
He cast a sidelong glance at you, a devious smirk suddenly playing on his lips. “I was just kidding, yeobo.” he told you. “I would never tie the twins up…unless I absolutely had to of course.”
You swatted his shoulder, still appalled by the very thought. “Over my dead body.” you angrily snapped.
“Okay, if that’s the way you want it...” Seung Hyun shrugged as he quickly turned towards you, grabbing you around the waist and slamming your body against his as his hands began to attack you, searching for a spot to tickle. “The guys will really miss you around here.”
“Seung Hyun!” you squealed as he picked you up slightly. “You are so bad.”
He finally set you back down on the floor at the sound of someone moving along the floor and giggling. “I think we might have a spy in the house.” he cryptically told you, his gaze narrowing in mock suspicion.
You chuckled softly, shaking your head at your husband’s playfulness. You could still hardly believe at times that this was the same impassive, serious man that you had spent so much time pursuing, trying to get him to open up to you in even the smallest ways.
It was amazing what marriage and babies had done to open his heart, bringing out the man that you knew lived deep inside beneath the many layers of deprecation and aloofness. You found yourself falling more and more in love with him every day, more so than you had ever believed was possible.
You watched in amusement as Seung Hyun quickly crouched low to the floor, awaiting the little spy’s arrival. “Don’t scare her.” you warned him.
“Scare her?” he looked back over his shoulder at you from his crouched position, a dark eyebrow cocked in surprise. “This is the same little girl who giggled the first time she saw me in a face mask.”
Trying to stifle a laugh, you shook your head as you heard Sung Ja drawing near, the sound of her crawling along the hardwood floor steadily growing louder. You could hear her jabbering to herself, wondering if she even knew what she was trying so hard to say.
You watched in amusement as Seung Hyun waited patiently for his daughter to crawl towards him, knowing in your heart you could never get enough of moments like these with your family. Sung Ja suddenly poked her little head around the corner, drool already running down her chin. She squealed excitedly at the sight of her parents, a grin on her face revealing two bottom teeth.
Seung Hyun couldn’t help but smile in return at the sight of his daughter. “Come here, Thing one.” he coaxed her from his crouched position, holding his hands out to welcome her into his arms.
Sung Ja excitedly crawled towards her father leaving a thin string of slobber in her path as she moved as fast as her little arms and legs could possibly take her. Seung Hyun picked up his daughter as she got to his feet, throwing her up high in the air and eliciting a shriek of delight as he caught the little girl in his large hands.
Your mother-in-law shook her head in amazement as her gaze fell on the mountain of bags that sat in the middle of the floor. “Well, it looks like you two cleaned out the store.” she said as she stared at the enormous pile & shifted Seung Min on her hip. “Did you leave anything on the shelves?”
“I tried to tell Seung Hyun he was being paranoid,” you replied as you made your way to the bags, crouching down to gather up the things that had fallen out onto the floor.
“I’m not being paranoid.” your husband maintained with a growl, kissing his daughter on the cheek. “I just want to…”
“Be prepared for everything.” you finished for him with a roll of your eyes. “Yes, we all know.”
“You’ll be thankful someday that you married such an efficient, prepared man.” he shot back, using his finger to pry open Sung Ja's mouth. “Show appa your new teeth, Thing one.”
Instead of opening her mouth, she began gnawing on her father’s finger, eliciting a chuckle from Seung Hyun. “Didn’t you feed them at all today, mom?”
“I assure you that both of the twins have been fed.” She smiled, shifting the little boy in her arms, holding him close with much affection. “We were just about to have our afternoon snack when she got away from me. It seems seeing her parents was more interesting at the moment than eating with Grandma.”
“Now do you believe me that we need that leash?” your husband asked you.
“My child is not going to be tied up like some animal, Seung Hyun.” you firmly maintained, your hands finding your hips as you glared at him.
“And I believe that is our cue to leave, children.” Seung Hyun's mother abruptly said, taking Sung Ja from him & back to the kitchen and the snack that awaited.
Seung Hyun made his way to his princess, pulling you into him as he forced you to wrap your arms around his waist. “You know I would never tie up the twins.” he said, dipping his head to kiss you. “Now you, on the other hand, I would love nothing more than to tie up.”
You couldn’t keep the corners of your lips from curling with his suggestive teasing. “Why, Mr. Choi, what a dirty mind you have.” you teased as you leaned in to kiss him back.
“You have no idea, princess,” he murmured low in your ear, causing a shiver to race down your spine. “It’s all your fault, though. You have no idea what you really do to me.”
“Hmmm…I think I may have somewhat of an idea.” you hummed, your fingers playing with the hair on the back of his neck as he pressed his hips fully against yours.
“Talk later…kiss now,” he said as he silenced you with another heated kiss.
You crept carefully down the dark hallway towards Seung Hyun's office, a steaming hot cup of coffee cradled in your hands. You knew that he was still working hard on new music, despite the fact that it was currently three o'clock in the morning. In fact, that very thing had been taking up the majority of his time for over a month now. But as much as you wanted him to take care of himself and get some sleep, you also knew that he needed to work.
“What are you doing in here, princess?” Seung Hyun deeply rasped without even turning around.
You never ceased to charm him even after being married for almost two years. Even now you still tried to sneak up on him, but he always knew you were coming a heartbeat before you ever arrived. He had to admit though, you were getting better.
“I thought you could use a little break.” you said as you silently stepped out from the dark shadows of the hallway.
“You should be in bed sleeping.” he stated.
There was a definite annoyed edge to his stern voice, but beneath it there was a hint of endearment that you didn't often get to hear when he was immersed in his work. “I was tired of being in bed alone.” you replied as you approached the desk cautiously. “I’ve been there for three hours now.”
He looked down out of the corner of his eye as you set a large cup of coffee down on the ledge, the dark hot liquid causing swirling cyclones of steam to rise up out of the delicious goodness inside.
In one swift fluid motion, Seung Hyun turned, his swivel chair squeaking slightly as he abruptly pulled you down into his lap, his mouth suddenly on yours, kissing you breathless.. He slid his hands up your spine only to feel you shiver in his arms, knowing it wasn’t from the cool night air.
You moaned as his hot mouth continued to devour yours, his tongue tangling so deliciously with yours in a repetitive sensual slide. You had missed him, missed this connection with him the last few days so you had decided to seek him out though you knew that he wouldn’t be happy about it…at least not at first.
Seung Hyun finally pulled back, breathing hard, his face refusing to reveal the desire that you had just awakened within him. “Go to bed, princess.” he firmly told you.
His order was stern, but his arms had yet to release you... telling you that he really wasn’t quite ready for you to leave despite his orders otherwise. The corners of your lips curved in response, your eyes sparkling brightly in the darkened room as you stared at his determined face.
“Our bed was too lonely.” you whispered, leaning in and dragging your lips along his chiseled jaw line. “I couldn’t sleep without my handsome husband there to hold me.”
“Go back to bed and I promise I’ll be there later to warm you up.” he told you a little more gently this time, his eyes falling closed with the feel of your warm lips assaulting his exposed jaw and making his head spin.
“Why are you so determined to get rid of me?” you paused to look at his beautiful face. “Do you have another woman on the side?”
Seung Hyun smirked with your teasing question. “Are you kidding me? I have my hands full with the one I’ve got.” he replied, wrapping his arms protectively around you when he noticed that you were beginning to slide off his lap. “ Get some sleep, ________-ah. You need to be taking care of yourself, not out here worrying about me.”
“I’ll always worry about you.” you countered. “Nothing will ever change that.”
“I thought wives were supposed to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, not being rebellious and interrupting their husbands while they're trying to work.” he teased you, bracing himself for the assault that he knew was about to come, but he couldn’t help himself.
Your eyes narrowed into a very dangerous glare, one that only served to heighten his arousal even more. “I am not that kind of wife.” you bit out, your grip on his waist tightening painfully, causing him to visibly wince.
“My mistake...” he gasped, amused. “I must have you confused with one of my other wives.”
He grunted as you suddenly and playfully slapped his shoulder. “You better have no other woman but me or I’ll make sure you live to regret it.”
“Hmmm…what exactly do you have in mind?” he spoke with a sudden lop-sided grin that was so incongruous with how serious he had been earlier. “Something that includes that chair of ours I hope?”
“Didn’t we try that already? Multiple times?” you grinned something sinful, your hands coming to rest against his chest.
“Practice makes perfect, princess.” he said as he tilted his head to kiss you again.
You put a finger to his lips to halt him only to have him suddenly take your finger into his hot mouth, his tongue swirling around the digit as he sucked on it. You moaned softly with his suggestive assault, your breath catching when he finally released it.
“I actually did come here for another reason besides seducing you.” you admitted with a smirk.
“Too late.” he huskily breathed as he began kissing behind your ear, the quiet hum of his computer the only other sound in the quiet house. “You’ve already awoken the beast, ________-ah. It’s what you get for coming in here and interrupting my focus like this.”
“Are you still working on the song you had me listen to a couple of days ago?” you asked, undeterred by his tease.
He sighed tiredly. “Yeah... I don't what it is, but it just doesn't sound... right.”
You shuffled your feet & turned the chair back around so that you both faced the computer. Taking a quick look at it, you saw that he had his editing software open, as you figured. “I had an idea.” you said softly.
“I'm listening.” Seung Hyun told you, reaching over to pick up the coffee you'd brought him & finally taking a sip.
“Well, the more I think about it.” you told him, pointing at the screen. “It might be better if you move the rap over here.” you wiggled until you were sideways in his lap to read his response to your suggestion.
“Not bad, yeobo.” he gruffly replied, his face set in that characteristic way that told you he was already trying to put the pieces together.
“’Not bad, yeobo’?” you repeated each word in annoyed disbelief. “You and Jiyong have been working on this for almost two weeks and that’s all I get? I think it’s deserving of much more than that.”
His intense gaze fixed on you, your husband gradually closed the distance between you, his breath ghosting against your face as he set the cup of coffee back down & allowed his proximity to affect you and help erase your irritation. He slowly leaned in, letting the tension build as he stopped just a breath away from your lips.
“You are brilliant, princess.” he whispered before softly brushing his lips against your, so tentative and yet taunting. “And the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on.”
“That’s much better.” you murmured with a proud smirk as you pointed at the screen again, ”I also think you need to have Jiyong write something for Seungri to fill in this blank space here.”
“I take it all back.” he huskily said. “You are unbelievably amazing and I’m so glad I decided to marry you.”
Your smirk was swiftly erased by a kiss that quickly turned quite heated, his arms keeping you pressed against his body. “You’re pretty incredible yourself.” you softly breathed, knowing you needed to leave him to his work now. “Finish up, Seung Hyun. Come to bed soon.”
******************************************************************
Seung Hyun moved to stand beneath the hot water, steam quickly filling the shower as he attempted to wash away the day. He dipped his head as he squeezed his eyes closed, allowing the water to sluice down his back.
Having returned to the villa after weeks away, he had immediately headed for his office and the many messages that had built up while he had been gone. He’d finally had to give up when he began having trouble focusing his thoughts, his vision growing blurry from lack of sleep over the last few days.
His every muscle felt rigid, taut with frustration and exhaustion. He leaned forward, pressing the palms of his hands as well as his forehead against the shower wall as the water continued to flow over his weary body. Thoughts of you quickly set his heart to pounding with sweet anticipation of what awaited him in the bed, soothing the tempest brewing in his head.
You always managed to tame the dark beasts that resided deep within him, forcing them back into the furthest reaches of his mind and heart, keeping him sane. Besides your love and his children, it was one of the greatest gifts you'd ever been able to give him, keeping the nightmares at bay for the first time in his life.
He never thought it possible to love a woman so wholly, so deeply. It was as if the two of you had been meant for each other all along…long before you had ever met or knew of each others existence on opposite sides of the globe.
You were amazing in every single way imaginable, exciting him and inciting a need deep in his bones like no other woman ever could. He loved you like none other, his eyes and heart only for you and you alone. And what was even more incredible to him was the fact that you felt the same way. It still astounded him how someone as incredible as you could fall so in love with someone broken like him.
Seung Hyun drew a deep breath in an effort to tamp down on the growing arousal his thoughts were eliciting... anxious to finish his shower and get to the bed he shared with you. Turning beneath the shower, he slowly opened his eyes, his startled gaze falling on his wife standing there just inside the walk-in shower in a sheer black negligee. There was a very flirtatious smirk playing on your face, your eyes dancing with lust.
Without a second thought, he reached out in one swift motion, grabbing hold of your arm before you could utter a single word & forcefully pulling you into the shower with him beneath the powerful stream of water. Before you could register what was happening, you found your back pressed into the shower wall, Seung Hyun's hard body pushed up against yours as hot water continued to rain down from above.
“Seung…”
You couldn’t even finish his name, his mouth suddenly on yours so hot and rough and demanding... silencing you as his tongue frantically plundered your mouth. He ground his hips into yours with a fierce desperation that consumed him, his hands roaming roughly over your body with heated fervor, not even bothering to remove the new garment you had worn just for him.
“You look…incredibly sexy.” he breathed heavily against your throat. “And completely deadly in that lingerie.”
“So you like it?” you managed to get out as his mouth suddenly descended on your breasts, his tongue lapping at the water as your fingers gripped his hair and held him against you.
“What do you think?” he nearly snarled as he bucked his hips firmly into yours again, his hands finding your backside and gripping it tightly.
He kissed you hard again, his mouth ravaging you, his tongue hinting at what was about to happen. He moved to grip your waist firmly in his hands, unleashing his pent up frustration and need on the one woman who could match him in every way.
“How long have you been watching me?” he rasped as his mouth licked at the water pooling in the small dip of your collarbone near the base of your throat.
“Long enough to thoroughly enjoy the view.” you grinned mischievously, loving the forceful way with which he was holding you. You ran your fingers through his wet hair as he cupped your backside in his large hands, kneading the flesh.
“I swear…you’re going to kill me off…princess,” he finally managed to mutter in between kisses to your skin.
He forced his brain to finally form coherent thought now as he used his tongue and lips to lap up the water trickling down your chest from the still running shower. He continued to kiss you, wanting more, but not here. He needed to get you into the bedroom.
“Can you come to bed soon?” you asked, as if reading his thoughts.
“I would love nothing more.” he murmured against your lips.
You smiled softly, kissing him beneath the waterfall. You reached for his body wash, pouring a generous amount in your hands before reaching for the wash rag.
“Did you have fun with the twins while I was gone?” he asked, his eyes falling closed as you began scrubbing his muscular frame for him.
“Yes, I was even able to find some things for their birthday party and as you’ve already seen I got you a present too.” you replied as you massaged his shoulders. “I’m glad you like it because I bought more than one.”
“I love it.” he smiled with a lustful gleam in his piercing brown eyes, leaning in and kissing you deeply. “I’m glad you got more than one because they never seem to stay in one piece for very long.”
Seung Hyun moaned deeply at the feel of you washing him clean, your hands pausing to loosen his muscles tight with so much stress. You had never deterred him in his work since he allowed you into his life years ago. You had only helped him, partnering with him and making him a better man, broadening his life in a way that he never knew was possible.
You let out a little yelp of surprise when Seung Hyun gently began to push you out of the shower. You had been so caught up in the feel of him & had totally missed the fact that he’d turned the water off. He stopped in the middle of the floor before grabbing a towel and beginning the process of drying each other off.
“Do you have anything else that you need to do before bed?” you asked as he leaned down to dry your legs.
“I have tons of messages that I still need to read.” he replied as he straightened up. “Tonight, though, I have a beautiful wife that I need to tend to.”
His mouth was already firmly on yours before the door to the adjoining bathroom had fully slid shut. His kiss was hot, rough and desperate as you ripped the towel off of his hips, his hands going for the ties of the negligee. The short walk from the shower to your shared bedroom had felt like the longest of his life as thoughts of making love to you overwhelmed him.
You swiftly found your back being pressed up against the wall, your breath being stolen by your husband. You lifted your leg, hooking it around his waist and using your heel to pull him firmly into you. You swallowed his groan as he continued to kiss you senseless, both of you more than anxious for that incredible connection with one another.
It had been entirely too long, too many nights spent alone and far too many mornings waking up without your husband there as he worked with your brothers, doing what he loved. “Seung Hyun-ah...” you moaned as he finally released your mouth to continue his assault down your throat as he pulled the lingerie over your shoulders, pinning your arms against the wall and holding you there.
“You have no idea…how much I’ve missed you.” he breathed heavily as he nipped and sucked on your throat, not caring whether he left marks or not.
“I’ve missed you too.” you managed to utter, your head tilted back as your fingers raked through his hair
You gasped sharply in rapture as you accepted him fully inside of you, so hard and hot and wonderful. He pressed his forehead against yours as you both just enjoyed the incredible feeling of being one with each other again. He captured your lips in a searing kiss as he began to move, each forceful thrust attempting to push you through the wall he had you pinned against.
This wasn’t the time for slow and sweet, gentle caresses and tender words of love. This was absolute surrender to the intense desire that had been building for weeks, burning passion at its hottest as bodies moved together as one in a desperate search for a combined release with the one they loved above all else.
“Fuck... Seung Hyun!” you cried, your arms slung around his shoulders, his mouth latched onto your pulse point as he drove into you with all the love and passion that he possessed for his wife.
He grunted with every thrust, the feel of you surrounding him more amazing than anything he’d ever experienced before you. You sated him in a euphoric way that he’d never known could exist and yet at the same time managed to create such an insatiable desire that could never be fully quenched.
Biting down on your pulse point, he sucked hard as he suddenly came with a violent release, taking you over the edge with him with the heady mix of pleasure and pain. He collapsed against you, keeping your body trapped between him and the wall as he struggled to catch his breath. “I love you, princess.” he murmured against your ear.
“Love you more.” you smiled, kissing along his neck.
Seung Hyun pulled back, staring into your eyes as he softly caressed your cheek. “I promise I’ll make it up to you.” he softly told you. “Now that the work in Japan is done for now, I’ll be able to be home more.”
“It’s alright, yeobo.” you reassured him as you softly kissed his lips. “I knew when I married you that there would be times when you wouldn’t be able to be home. It makes times like these with you that much sweeter, sexier.”
“I couldn’t agree more.” he murmured, nuzzling your nose with his own as you shared the same breath. “So how about dinner with the guys later? I know you've missed your brothers too.”
A smile spread across your lips as you began to press hot kisses along his chin. “I’d love that and so would the twins.” you agreed. “But for now, I think I still need a little more of you.”
Seung Hyun smirked as he suddenly picked you up, keeping you joined as he deposited you on the bed. He smiled down at you as he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. “And what about the children? Shouldn't they wake up soon?”
“They'll be fine for another hour.” you decided after glancing at the beside clock. Then you abruptly took control, flipping him onto his back. “I, on the other hand, need my husband...now.”
Seung Hyun growled with the amazing feeling of his gorgeous wife straddling him, you hair falling like a veil around his face as you leaned down to kiss him. He lifted his hips to grind against you, feeling you grip at him with your walls as his hands roamed frantically over the smooth skin of your back. It would still be a while before he could go again, but Seung Hyun could think of plenty of things he could do to you in the meantime.
Thoughts and worries about comebacks, music videos, and Japan were swiftly washed away once more as you began to make love all over again. His body bowed as you kissed along his chest, his hands falling to the bed as he clutched at the bedcover, surrendering to you as he lost himself in the sweet euphoria you were creating within him all over again.

After a long winter and wet spring spent cooped up indoors, you aren’t the only one in your household feeling more than a touch of cabin fever. At my house, I don’t have just a toddler clamoring to get outside, but also two dogs who love nothing more than lying in sunny spots soaking up the rays. And getting into water, which is why I finally invested in a couple of dog life jackets for my pups.
Where I live, we’re surrounded by water, so outside often means being at a lakeside beach, heading out in a kayak, or taking a boat out into open waters. And while we aren’t the sportiest family, our summer adventures often include boating, camping trips, and long hikes along rivers and around mountain lakes.
Of course, our dogs often come with us. So I wondered about whether or not we needed to be strapping them into life jackets. After doing some research, I discovered I should be protecting them with good doggy life jackets and bought two immediately. Here’s why and also a list of the very best dog life jackets I found.
The EzyDog life jacket (see below for review).
Why Should I Use a Dog Life Jacket?
The simplest answer to why you should use a dog life jacket is because it’s your job as a dog owner to keep your dog safe. Every parent knows that the only way to keep their children protected when boating or swimming in open water is to stick a life jacket on, no matter how well they swim and no matter how much they dislike it. As dog owners, we have that same responsibility to keep our dogs safe just in case of a worst-case scenario.
Furthermore, even if your dog is a great swimmer, wearing a life jacket can help make your dog more readily visible in case you’re separated on the water. In cold water or water with strong currents, even a few seconds can make a big difference in guaranteeing your dog’s safety.
There are also some dogs who just aren’t built to be swimmers. Dogs who have naturally low body fat, for example, like a Whippet or Greyhound, can have a lot of difficulty staying buoyant and keeping warm in cooler water. Older dogs or out-of-shape pooches might lack the stamina they need to keep doggy paddling for too long. Or short-legged dogs might use up all of their energy because they need to paddle more to keep themselves afloat.
When Do I Need a Dog Life Jacket?
Some dogs might only need a life jacket when they’re on a boat, while for others it might be a good idea to wear one when they’re even just walking along the shore of a lake. Others still might need to wear one to swim in a pool.
A good rule of thumb is to assess the swimming skills of your dog and size up what the worst-case scenario might be in any situation. If it’s something you could handle easily on your own, perhaps your dog would be alright without safety gear.
However, if there’s a chance that you’d be unable to respond to an emergency quickly and effectively, you might want to err on the side of caution and keep your dog safe with a life jacket.
If you’re boating, it’s a good idea for all dogs (and humans, for that matter!) to wear a life jacket at all times. 80% of human boating fatalities are caused by drowning, and in 83% of those cases, the victim wasn’t wearing a life jacket. Some of the dangerous factors associated with boating accidents extend to dogs here, including hypothermia, fatigue, injuries from being struck with boat detritus, or strong currents.
Conversely, if you’re swimming in a shallow pool and could without a doubt save your dog if they suddenly found themselves in trouble, you can probably forgo the dog life vest.
Even if My Dog Is a Strong Swimmer?
First, a quick reminder that, despite conventional wisdom, not all dogs naturally know how to swim. But even with dogs who were bred to love water, like Labrador Retrievers or Portuguese Water Dogs, accidents happen. They can all benefit from the extra protection wearing a dog life vest provides.
If a dog falls overboard or a canoe suddenly capsizes, the panic of the moment, as well as undertows, currents, waves, or frigid temperatures can quickly overwhelm even the strongest swimmers. If the dog was injured in the fall or there are large waves to contend with, it’s easy to see why a dog’s own strong swimming skills might not be enough.
Additionally, even the best swimmers can suffer from fatigue in open water. A buoyant life jacket can help keep a dog’s head up above the water in emergencies, but can also allow a dog to use up less energy while playing and swimming, extending the amount of time you can both have fun in the sun.
How Should a Dog Life Vest or Jacket Fit?
Having a dog life jacket is the first step, but if it doesn’t fit well, it might not do much good. In order to ensure that your dog’s life vest fits correctly, you’ll need to start with accurate measurements.
First, weigh your dog to make sure that they are within the weight ratings of a given size and brand of life jacket. Secondly, measure your dog’s length from the neck all the way back to the base of the tail. Finally, measure your dog’s girth around the widest part of the neck and the widest part of the chest.
When ordering your dog’s life jacket, make certain that your dog’s measurements stay comfortably within the manufacturer’s recommendations.
When your life jacket arrives, follow these steps to get started.
Unclip and loosen all buckles and straps
Put the life jacket in place
Connect the neck clip
Tighten it until it’s snug, but still allows your dog some room to move around
Connect, adjust, and tighten chest straps until snug. The chest straps do more of the work holding the life jacket in place, so just be sure your dog is comfortable and can easily breathe.
Before using the life jacket in the water, have your dog run around a bit and check to see if your life jacket stays in place and that your dog seems comfortable and happy.
Must-Have Dog Life Jacket Features
Most dog life jackets look pretty similar, so choosing one can feel a bit overwhelming. Here are a few features that you’ll want to look for when you’re browsing for the best dog life vest options.
The first thing you’ll notice when looking for dog life jackets is that they come in a plethora of colors and patterns. Choose one in a bright color that will help keep your dog as visible as possible.
A durable top handle will help you to grab onto and lift your dog out of the water or even just when loading and unloading from a boat.
Look for a D-ring or leash attachment; this will allow you more flexibility when using the vest out of the water and can help give you another place to connect to if your dog does get into trouble in the water.
Reflective strips can also increase the visibility factor for your dog, especially if you’re swimming at dawn, dusk, or nighttime.
Especially if your dog isn’t a strong swimmer, is a brachycephalic breed (i.e. short snout), or tires easily, you’ll want to look for a life vest with an attachable front flotation pad that can help keep your dog’s head out of the water, even if they’re otherwise incapacitated.
Finally, look for dog life jackets that have extra flotation material around the sides and middle to ensure as much extra buoyancy as possible.

Best Dog Life Jackets
In addition to the above choices, we checked out different brands of dog life vests for both the must-have features and for actual user experiences and reviews. Here are the best of the best.
With plenty of thick padding and extra buoyancy materials around the belly and chest, the Hurtta Life Savior jacket is made for sporty use and durability. We also like the bright color options—yellow, orange, and purple—as well as the super thick top handle and extra stitching around the straps. With the higher price point, this is a good option for anyone hoping to get a lot of use and longevity out of their dog life jacket.
Find on Amazon
For a more economical option, our choice is the Outward Hound Granby Dog Life Jacket. It features two handles on top that can make hauling a heavier—or extraordinarily feisty—dog a fair amount easier. There’s extra fabric for comfort around the belly and it comes in four bright colors—including one with a really cute fish design. The one thing it’s missing is a D-ring, but for this price, it could be a good choice for anyone who will get only occasional use out of a life jacket.
Shop on Chewy
The first thing that drew our attention to this EzyDog life vest was the style—this jacket just looks good. But it also has the elements we’re looking for in solidly made jacket.
Featuring a D-ring to clip on a leash and 50% more flotation materials than other jackets, as well as plenty of reflective stripping to really increase a pup’s visibility in the water, this is a good choice for an all-around solid life jacket. There are two downsides to this jacket, however: It’s only available in two colors and there isn’t an XL size for bigger dogs.
Find on Amazon
This life jacket option is a bit lighter and has less bulk, but still retains some of our favorite features like a D-ring for leash attachment, a durable lift handle, and a comfortable fit for your dog. Many reviewers swear that this jacket offers superb durability; we love the fun colors it comes in and the multiple sizing options that will even work for everyone from your mini pup to a Great Dane.

The two things we love best about this life jacket are the funky fabric options—although we’d still recommend a bright color for visibility—and the versatile fit. It features extra fabric below the belly straps for comfort, a leash clip, and extra padding in the front to support the head. Though it has a top handle, it’s a bit thin, so it might not be a durable choice for picking up heavy dogs.

Let me start by saying the shark fin styling on this dog life jacket is CUTE! So cute. Plus, it’s available in four sizes so it fits sharks (ahem—dogs) of all sizes. The Land Shark also has most of the features we’re looking for: heavy-duty zipper, nylon handle, front buckle, and durable straps. We only wish this jacket also offered a front flotation pad for little swimmers.

This styling life jacket by Outward Hound is a great choice if your dog is just learning to swim or just doesn’t get into the water very often. With extra insulation to keep your dog warm, dual-grab top handle, and extra-thick foam panels on the sides to increase buoyancy, this is a good choice for novice swimmers. We wish they’d add a D-ring and offer more colors, but this is a good overall value.

Find on Amazon

[Breeds] Looking for a dog for our young family via /r/dogs
[Breeds] Looking for a dog for our young family
Looking for a dog that would like hiking and would enjoy living in our London suburb mid-terrace house with our 2 year old son and our cat. A rescue would be wonderful if we could make it happen.
Introduction
1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?
My wife and I both had medium sized dogs growing up (a retriever and a some sort of lurcher mutt). We both remember our parents training them and are pretty confident we'll do okay. My wife dog-sat for neighbours as well
2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a reputable breeder?
We'd love to rescue, but with a toddler (2 yr) and a cat we may be out of luck. The dog homes here in the UK are notoriously cautious. Would love recommendations on how to handle them and adopt the right dog!
3) Describe your ideal dog.
Cheerful and playful, safe around kids and grandparents. Ready to play fetch or wrestle a bit. Perhaps a bit smarter than the average. Doesn't need to run constantly, but will happily come along with us on hikes around 10 miles.
4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?
Some spaniels seem like a good balance of this. Considering schnauzers, bigger terriers or beagles as well, though I'm not sure how well they hike.
5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?
I'm not fussed about tricks, but it would be super useful if it was comfortable traveling on public transport. Fetch would be great but plenty wonderful dogs won't even let you near their sticks.
6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport?
No thanks
Care Commitments
7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?
We don't expect to do much training beyond basic obedience, housebreaking and public transit. In the post-covid world at least one of us will be working from home every week day so they won't get lonely, but we will need to work during that time so a dog needing constant attention would be a problem.
8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?
We are expecting as much as an hour's walk including a dog park in the morning, with a shorter walk in the evening. Plus running in our back garden during the day (~30 meters), and longer walks at weekends.
9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?
We would happily do the grooming as necessary and there are plenty of professionals in our area. I think we lean away from the truly hairy breeds, but more guided by their comfort in our climate.
Personal Preferences
10) What size dog are you looking for?
Probably small to medium. We love large dogs, but while our house is decent size for London it is not huge and will need to be shared with 2 adults, a toddler and a cat.
11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?
Slobber and shedding is fine and fun and part of dog life. Barking we are less keen on (and we also have neighbors with whom we share walls)
12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?
The dog will have to be able to behave itself at a basic level to handle parks and country walks. I would say this is probably pretty important.
Dog Personality and Behavior
13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?
Probably medium? Love having a dog that puts their head in our lap and tries to lick our face. But again we will need to work from home around them, so yapping until we pick them up could become a problem.
14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please?
I like anywhere on that spectrum, though perhaps not fully aloof. I would say it's more important that they are able to relate to kids. Guess would probably be more eager to please, but not really sure.
15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?
I'd rather they be open to strangers. Having a dog with a guard mentality might be tricky in a mid-terrace house with neighbors close by. Barking a bit when someone knocks is fine, but they should accept people when we bring them inside.
16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?
I don't think that's a good idea. Just too many around here.
17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid?
Avoiding too much barking is probably the main one. We can manage if they turn out to be yippy (you never know) but we are keen to be kind to our neighbors.
Lifestyle
18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone?
One of us should be working from home every weekday and we will be around weekends. I would say that it would be good to be able to leave them for half a day sometimes, but we should be able to get people to look in on them if it's longer than that. We have good neighbours and friends locally who could help.
19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog?
Us two adults are both very keen. We will see about our toddler as he ages but mostly seems fine.
20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they?
We have a rescue cat (normal british short-hair) whom we have had for 3 years now and is about 5 years old. She has a cat-flap and we are planning to keep the dog out of at least a room or two to help her.
21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?
Yes, being good with our kid and their friends is essential.
22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?
We own and are planning to stay.
23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?
London, UK. There are laws about breeds which are said to be violent.
24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?
Summer hovers around 20°C most days, but gets up to 25-30°C, almost never more than that. Humid but not muggy. Winter is not below freezing all that often. A week or so of light snow in total is not unusual, but fairly mild overall.
Additional Information and Questions
25) Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant.
We would really love to rescue a dog, but are not sure how we could do that since we have a toddler and a cat. Rescue charities here are very restrictive and we have so far not seen any dogs listed as ok for both small children and cats. Should we just give up on this approach? Is there anything we should try?
26) Feel free to ask any questions below.
I loved my mutt growing up. I recognize breeders would probably not call any of their dogs mutts, but is there any way to let breeders know we would be interested in, let's say unconventional cross-breeds?

5 Top Lessons to Teach Your New Puppy
Puppies are such a wonderful life force!
Almost nothing is as cute and full of life and energy as a new puppy!
Personally, I love young puppies and old dogs.
Young puppies are experiencing the world and life each exciting event at a time. And, old dogs are full of all of those experiences.
I had a discussion with a new potential client just a couple of days ago.
The client wanted to wait until her puppy was older before she began training.
Back in the days of compulsion and training puppies with lots of corrections, she would probably have been right. Lots of leash corrections and force can be bad for young puppies and can negatively affect their development.
However, now that we utilize positive reinforcement there is no reason not to start training the moment you pick up your puppy!
If you do it right, the puppy will learn all the good behavior you want him to show and you won’t even have to worry about compulsion or correction.
Here Are the Top 5 Lessons to Teach Your New Puppy
5. How to Hold His Bladder
First off let’s be honest. Each puppy, like each baby, gains control of their bladder at different times. But we can help facilitate his learning if we make it our duty (no pun intended) to ensure as few mistakes as possible. Proper puppy potty training is key!
I tether my puppy to me during the day, so when he begins to pull and whine, I can get him outside.
Having full access when they are very young is not beneficial to either of you. The last thing you want is for your puppy to learn to sneak off to do his business!
Also, remember after naps, play, and eating or drinking your puppy is likely to need to go out and relieve himself.
His bladder is small, and most puppies need to go outside about every 2 hours.
4. How to Control His Impulses
Puppies are great thieves!
If a puppy or a toddler want something, often they just take it.
As we age, we realize that these behaviors aren’t acceptable, and we learn to control our impulses.
Puppies also need to be taught impulse control.
Nothing drives me crazier than seeing a two-year-old dog who steals food, toys and everything he wants.
Good dogs and people control their impulses.
Start by making your puppy sit and wait for you to put his food bowl down.
If the puppy gets up, just raise the bowl.
This is an ideal way to teach him that he has control over himself and his behaviors.
And, as he learns, you can make the behavior more and more difficult, just be sure to also make it fun!
3. How to Play “The Game” of Learning
I LOVE clicker training!
One of my favorite things, when teaching my puppy class, is to pull a puppy and load the clicker as I reward and click good behavior.
I love watching the puppy offer many behaviors to see if they will be rewarding.
Not only are they learning what I like (sit, down, stay, watch), they are also learning what won’t work: barking, jumping and other bad behaviors.
I don’t spend a lot of time yelling, chastising or correcting the puppy for these behaviors; I allow him to figure out that certain behaviors just aren’t worth showing because they will never be rewarding.
Typically, I can teach a new puppy a few new behaviors during one of these sessions, and the puppy has truly “learned” to show these behaviors.
They are learning they are in control of their training and environment and let’s face it, we all want to think that we have some control over our world.
Just be smart and ensure that you are rewarding the correct behaviors!
2. How to Walk on Leash
I’ve said it before, and I will say it again…puppies don’t spring from the womb knowing how to walk nicely on a leash.
Being on a leash goes against everything that is natural for them. However, we want our puppies to be safe and being on a leash is part of life.
All well mannered dogs should be trained to have leash skills.
As I said earlier, I like to tether my puppies to me. This helps them to get used to the leash right away and, as mentioned, helps with potty training.
Because I almost immediately tether my puppies, they never suffer from not wanting to walk on a leash or being leash phobic.
I also don’t allow them to zoom around and act crazy on a leash. Of course, they need to be puppies and go outside and exercise; but by keeping them on a leash, I am teaching them to respect me and the leash.
I also make sure that I teach them basic leash manners, so they never get into a habit of pulling.
1. How to Pay Attention
Anyone who knows me and knows my training, knows how much I love eye contact from my dogs.
Teaching my dogs eye contact gives them a good behavior that I can control on cue.
If I don’t want you to chase that squirrel, I may ask you to “watch me”.
If I don’t want you pulling on leash, I may ask you to go in heel position and stare up at me while we walk.
Most people ignore this behavior
I watch my puppies in puppy class, stomping along next to their owners and occasionally looking up, lovingly.
But 90% of my puppy owners don’t even notice this behavior, much less reward it.
And, dog training 101 states that if you ignore a behavior, it will go away.
If you don’t reward them for checking in and paying attention they will learn to do something else, like looking at everything else going on around them.
I beg of you… reward your puppies for checking in and paying attention to you!
And, if you want to be a step above; make sure you get it on command or cue.
Stick to this list and you, too, will have a well trained and happy puppy!

2018-03(FEB)-Wednesday-7th--damn feral urban cats spreading filth & diseases here at this hellhole.
2018-03(FEB)-Wednesday-7th--damn feral urban cats spreading filth & diseases here at this hellhole.
Firstly, let me state this right off the bat for the dickheads that go searching for ANY way out of that they are so braindead opposed to... - I like cats. I love cats. Growing up here my dear mother here had 12 cats at our house, the same house now a hovel I am trapped in. - We LOVED those cats deeply. Some were personally rescued cats, rescued cats even by myself as a boy then youth for otherwise they would have VERY SURELY died or been killed.
And my dear Mum went out of her way to care for all our cats, safely, humanely, and LONG LONG before any of the bullshit 'caring' became a fashion trend, she was doing it because...it was the right thing to do, not because now it's 'trendy' and can be a hook to blog about, or boast to others, or post pathtic photos of, or any other such utter shit.
That's how we ended up with 12 cats. We rescued and saved from death some pregnant cats too. All of which ballooned the number up to 12. We were utterly poor. VERY POOR. Not the bullshit 'poor' of today where people think they're poor if they haven't got access to the internet and latest itune noise blasting about, no.....we were VERY POOR. We were always struggling for food, and paying for ANY bills, let alone for an education growing up an all its costs, and the rent, and for everything else. We had no car or any vehicle at all. We had no money or any means to have one, let alone being able to afford to forever pay all the damned costs involved.
And our cats were humanely sterilised. At our own cost. Again, something that these days is accepted and normal but back then it wasn't, and it was VERY expensive.
(DEAR FLISS....are you reading this and getting the notions of how much I knew so much about the damned local vet and his services (cats & dogs and everything), and why I always found so much grief in my life from it all (not just from what I've been wring about the cats here).
But YOU dear Fliss don't care. - You've gone past caring about anyone or anything, no, you just pretend to care and to make it look 'real' to others. And they fall for all your bullshit. - And do YOU as well believe your own bullshit?
Dearest Mum kept our cats in an outside large cage, again something far ahead of its time in doing, which is done now as a matter of course elsewhere (other than this fucking hellhole area), but don't you EVER think that our dear cats suffered. They were doted on and much loved and kept comfortable as much as we could, fed generously, always with water available of course....and so much more I'm not going into now.
I'm sick and tired of always having to over-explain things because shit-for-brains reading this will dive upon one apsect of anything I write (even typos) and use that as a mental 'get-out clause' for them to justify ther own imbecility and brainlessness and dismiss me as a real person or anything I write.
We also had a 'rota system' whereby cats would spend a day/night inside this house and slept with us and of course were much loved, doted on, given tidbits of extra food and so on. And they were allowed to perch themselves on the window sills and watch the world outside this house/hovel. -- Of all of this I DO have some personal photos of for proof. But I'm NOT ever posting them anymore. NOBODY FUCKING BELIEVES OR APPRECIATES ANYTHING ANYWAY, ESPECIALLY ONE PERSON THAT MATTERS.
When I told dear Fliss about all this many decades later after Mum had died, Fliss would always sigh and nod in appreciation, "Your mum was ahead of her time."
She was and still is.
The Swan Shire Council seems as if it took what she had been doing for so MANY years and used it as a blueprint for their own animal policies throughout their vast areas of shire goverened area. Yes, it almost seems that way because dear Mum was so socially far ahead of her time.
Back then when Mum was alive, there WERE a very few feral cats roaming around this area, but they were always kept in check and bounded by so many DECENT neighbours, who also had dogs and such. (the area was much more rural back then too, including sheep, snakes, goannas, a few scant horses on the roads....)
OUR cats were so well behaved and trained, that they remained IN OUR YARD ALL DAY. They did NOT spend all their day locked up in that cage. (that situation came MANY DECADES later after tragedy)
I STILL have the frame of that cage. It will still exist after I am dead.
And don't think that I'm saying this as some shitty braineless people do today ALL THE TIME saying that THEIR cats NEVER roam about....oh,no, no no.......when in fact THEIR fucking cats DO ROAM ABOUT EVERYWHERE AND ARE NEVER CONSTRAINED. - AND IF EVER CONTACTED/BERATED BY AUTHORITIES THEY ALWAYS LIE & BLEAT THAT IT'S NOT THEM IT MUST BE 'SOMEBODYE ELSES FAULT'.
But that's as maybe, because filthy disased feral cats are now also utterly rampant all about this hellhole area, attacking and breeding with all other cats which nobody cares about either because owners here are brainless, and drug addicts, and the feral cats spread disease EVERYWHERE with their constant shitting and pissing all over the place, in & on any gardens in ANY patch of ground, walking over cars and car windscreens, ferreting in amongst pets food bowls and water bowls (and diseasing them), ferreting in garbage on the ground from rubbish bins and filthy dirty nappies, attacking any other creatures and killing them such as wildlife creatures whether they're endangered or not (the about of killed bird bodies I've had to clean up!), and on and on and on.....
Wild birds get in amongst all the foul cat shit, insects get in amongst all the foul cat shit...and it's all carried about and spread around to further spread disease.
There's shitheads in houses that don't give a fuck about anything because they are so useless, and that includes the criminal fuckers of this hellhole area, and they allow the damn feral cats to to roam all about their yards, and INTO their houses......and shitheads wonder why they get sick? And any dogs around get sick? - Nope, they never make any connections because they're too busy being drunk, drugged-up with illegal drugs, or are always so brainless not to give a shit about anyone or anything, even themselves.
THIR CARS (so highly inasanely cherished) get piss and shit over them.....and the shitheads still just can't figure it out.
Shitty people of the many in their households get ill.....and the shitheads just can't figure it out. Even toddlers. - (the shitty people are so very foul themselves ALL of the time in any case).
Medico's can't figure out why certain diseases are becoming more prevalent and humans suddenly need urgent medical attention, when the medico's thought they had certain diseases stamped out or fully under control. - And yet they STILL keep exploding in reported frequency. That's being reported in the media NEWS more and more. They can't figure it out so it's all passed off and written off as just stupid NEWS.
The useless shitheads in this hellhole, the drug addicts and all manner of fuckwits and criminals, they just see the feral diseased cats as some sort of freebie plushies that roam about and they let around & into their houses anytime the cats want or demand. The shitheads probably mutter to themselves, 'that's what we do anyway'.
The feral cats actually crisscross all over the roads going from house-to-house, (there's SO MANY shitheads in homes here of course), yard-to-yard, fouling up places, stealing food, (even food left out for them by shitheads that goes foul & rancid), which the wild crows (birds) of this hellhole area ALSO ferret in and carry about and spread diseases all about to animals and humans alike. -- (it's ALL connected.)
But the shitheads don't give a flying shit about actually doing the REAL things that comes with being responsible owners of animals, after all the feral cats are just 'wild' and 'belong to nobody' and so they never have to think about them or what they do. - The shitheads will actually actively encourage (and chase off) the damn feral cats to go elsewehere to piss & shit elsewhere and foul and disease up OTHER PEOPLES household properties...just so the damn things can't return and not do it in THEIR OWN yards and houses.
IT IS AGAINST THE LAW HERE to not control your cats and dogs. - But as always, the criminals and criminal asociates and customers don't give a shit about ANY laws. - That's been shown countless times to the authorities and Police who come to this hellhole area and just CAN NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING abut his hellhole area, and so they refuse to. (and that includes ALL manner of crimes and criminality so don't YOU just think it's just about cats, or dogs or anything 'minor' to you grasping mind). - The dogs are wild, and vicious and barely kept leashed let alone not kept form running about the streets at will. The drug shitheads use them to keep themselves 'safe' from other drug shitheads and criminals of this hellhole area too.....and to drive off the shitting pissing feral cats.....
And because I don't allow our poor dogs to do the same, as do the rapidly diminishing numbers of responsible dog owners about here, the foul diseased feral cats have been increasingly infesting the yard of this hovel.
If YOU think all this about the damn feral cats is 'new' at this hellhole, IT'S NOT, but it has skyrocketted IMMENSELY over the past few years since Fliss left in 2015. She has NO IDEA of the current state of this hellhole area. (other than perhaps secretly reading about it from this blog of mine.)
It's VERY RECENTLY ALSO MADE THE NEWS IN AUSTRALIA...see:------ Cat plague is back after nearly 40 years in hiding — here's what you need to know
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-02-06/cat-plague-is-back-after-nearly-40-years-in-hiding/9401794
There is NOT ONE DAY where evidence everyday I have to attend to here in my own backyard of this hovel to clean up that shows where the shitty feral cats have't been fouling up everything. As a cat owner (of many year past), I easily see all the signs of them...the pissing upon EVERYTHING, the SHITTING EVERYWHERE, the clawing with sharp claws destroying any and everything......and of course the CONSTANT bringing in of tranmissable diseases that affect dogs and any human just the same and make them VERY ill, and in the case of dogs, it can kill innocent dogs.
The shitheads will just mutter...so what, it doesn't mean anything...it's just dogs....it's just cats...it's just (insert ANYTHING) to diminish their right to live.
No wonder crime and shit's so utterly rampant and forever escalating with brainless shitheads being accepted as being 'normal' these days. They are just that...brainless shitheads. So fucking well stop listening to THEM and doing what THEY demand you do. - And that goes for the criminals as well.
Criminals everywhere have not only surpassed being contained and controlled by law & order & authorities & government, but they actually forcibly dictate demands & terms and get them followed....for their benefits of course.
-----------------------------------------------------------
For the past few days and nights there has been a temporary 'lull' in the CONSTANT shit happening in this hellhole area, but it's STILL going on, albeit at a much 'quieter' level and at more easily overlooked aspects. - It HAS NOT GONE AWAY.
I expect that's ONLY because of the huge time-delay aspects of criminal actions being dealt with by authorities and Police and legal authorities. All of which fakes to make this appear as if things are 'solved' and there's nothing to worry about for them anymore.
But shit is still going on.
Even the newest neighbours STILL just can't figure out in their brains that the VERY ONES they associate with ,....are the VERY ones doing so much crime and shit all about.....and then again, THEY are also criminal.....
Drug addicts letting drug dealers do whatever the hell they want just so they can always get THEIR drugs and shit....
-----------------------------------------------------------
I love you dearest Fliss. I want to be with YOU. This hellhole has become so much worse since you fled in late in 2015, but you have no idea at all, not even from my writings because there is a HELL of a lot of stuff I never put in my blog writings because NOBODY would believe me AT ALL. The useless authorities don't give a shit. Or they'll mutter that its not 'their responsibility'. - I REALLY MISS NOT HAVING MY GUNS ANYMORE FROM DECADES AGO. - I was a fool to hand them in to authorities MANY YEARS before it was ever became a mandatory law. An Australian LAW that nowadays is just looked over as if it doesn't even exist any more. get caught with an illegal & unregistered gun...no problems...just get a fine and move on..... -- WHEN LAW & RULES ARE NOT CONSTANT AND APPLICABLE TO ALL, THEN THERE IS NO REAL LAW & RULES.-- I love you dearest Fliss. I want to be with YOU.
P.S.:--- Dear Cath will rue the day she gave up her muzzleloader guns if she becomes the victim of crime.

An Oregon father’s post is catching buzz on Facebook after he shared an image of his toddler wearing a leash.
On May 27, Clint Edwards, 34, explained why he sometimes uses the backpack safety harness. His status resonated with thousands who commented.
“I put this kid on leash because I love her, but I’m going to get some backtalk about it and it’s a complicated position to be in,” Edwards told ABC News today. “That’s what parents respond to the most is, ‘You’re doing everything you can to keep your kid safe and somehow, somebody’s ready to judge you.'”
“You’ve just kind of got to blow through that,” he said. “I was surprised as many people felt the same as I did.”
Edwards, dad to Tristan, 10, and Norah, 7, and Aspen, 3, is the creator of “No Idea What I’m Doing: A Daddy Blog.”
Edwards said he and his wife got Aspen a leash last Christmas and she wore it during their family trip to Disneyland.
“I’m glad we did because she almost took a dive into the pond at ‘It’s a Small World,'” Edwards said.
“She’s very curious and not afraid of as much and runs wherever she wants to go,” he continued. “I don’t want to lose her.”
Last week, Edwards posted a photo to his blog’s Facebook page of Aspen wearing the leash while at the farmer’s market.
Edwards then explained why he sometimes attaches the leash to Aspen.
It read, in part:
“The real difficulty with having a wild child is that you are damned if you do, and damned if you don’t,” he wrote. “Because the fact is, if I didn’t put Aspen on a leash while at amusement parks, the zoo, a crowded mall, or the farmers market, she’d be the lost child announced over the intercom. She’d be the kid popping up in every Facebook feed for wandering into a shopping center parking lot, unattended. She could be the child climbing into the tiger cage. Because I can’t, for the life of me, keep her from moving.”
Edwards continued, “And sure, I get dirty looks from strangers. In fact, I’ll probably get some ‘I’m the perfect parent and this is why you s—‘ comments on this post. And to you I say this, ‘I’m keep this kid safe while maintaining my piece of mind, and that is 100% worth it.’ Because the reality is she’ll calm down. She’ll figure it out, because all kids do.”

Over 3,000 people commented on the post. Edwards said he was surprised of how many parents said that they can relate.
“That was one of the best things I’ve ever bought in my life,” one wrote. “I got dirty looks and comments, but it kept my son safe! People shouldn’t be so quick to judge.”
“We had a giraffe backpack with a leash for my now 7yo,” said another. “She needed it. Before we got it for her she wandered away from us at an MLB game.”
Some parents admitted that at first, they were against having their child wear a leash.
“When I had my son I was completely anti-leash!” one person wrote. “I was the parent looking at other parents wondering why that was even necessary…Well, God gave me a slice of humble pie when he blessed us with our daughter!”
“I used to be pretty judgy about those things,” wrote another. “Then I had kids. Keep on keepin’ on, man.”
Others were not on-board with the harness at all.
“The words ‘leash’ and ‘kid’ shouldn’t be allowed in the same sentence,” one wrote.
“My only issue with leashes is parents who use them as babysitters,” wrote another. “Just loosely holding that strap ain’t gonna be enough if someone wants to snatch them or they want to go.”
Edwards admitted he sometimes gets negative looks from strangers, but stands behind his parenting. He hopes his post helps others understand that parents are doing everything they can.
“There’s certain things that you say as a parent, ‘I’m never going to do–, I’m never going to by that minivan. I’m never going to go grocery shopping in sweatpants,” he said. “You get into the parenting thing, you always end up doing it and now you understand why.”
“What I hope that people better understand why parents make this decision,” Edwards continued. “But more than anything, it’s just nice to have a mom say, ‘Yea, I share your struggle’ and that feels good.”
“Sometimes you feel really alone and I think being able to share your struggles,” he added. “I think that’s good for all parents to be able to have.”
