NOIX!

Alternative naming scheme to replace the practice of giving Christian names to children in post Revolutionary France. These are the proposed names for children born on 14 Fructidor (31 August), which is the day of the nut (noix). The table shows what you should call your son or daughter depending on what time of that day they are born. I wonder what the names for the other days of the year would be.
From the same Mémoire sur les noms a substituer aux noms de baptême of Jean-Alexandre Carney (source).
#okay this is unhinged and i love it#but what happens when the day's dedicatee is longer than one syllable?#are you going to keep doing this with Hémérocalle#or Chèvrefeuille or Caille-lait?#or La Fête de l'Opinion?#french revolutionary calendar#names#FRev
