titans messed up big when they decided to make it an investigative journalism thing and now the comics are following it. for the record, i dont see her as that secret investigator type. sorry mfs, that only works when donna has a secret identity. and hers iirc is public.

im just saying let donna have a healthy work/life balance pls. she can have a life away from her titans career. not everything has to be used for the sake of “realism” and ��grittiness”

unpopular opinion:

stop retconning donna’s origin.

if it starts out with the new 52-based (not exact) origin, with the false memories? keep it.

for the sake of continuity, keep it at this point. we dont need more confusion than we already have. nowadays the problem is people going “i don’t like this origin” “i don’t like that origin” “i think the origin for donna should be so and so” on and on and on

if there’s really no agreement on anything just say she’s diana’s sister. no further explanation. she’s diana’s sister, hippolyta’s daughter, she grew up on the island being trained by diana and then became wonder girl, founding member of the teen titans. one year later handled this pretty well:

we’ve got the basics: mirror clone, dark angel (and i think this is a good origin for dark angel too, no weirdass multiversal/counterpart bs, just say she was an enemy of hippolyta. probably in the days before themyscira. none of that time travel bs please), saved by diana in some capacity, titans of myth/amazon connection, and founding the teen titans.

and what happened after that? we got some of the most fulfilling pre52 donna content now that her origin was settled. wonder woman donna, donna in gail simone’s run, donna in the titans series, donna in blackest night and JLA. aaaaaaand then new 52 happened and now we’re back to square one because mfs are still arguing about origins. at this point if anyone has an origin preference for donna, just headcannon it.

like pls. lets move on already. as soon as the wonder woman office gets their act together, starts talking with the titans office, and stops shelving donna’s roles as wonder girl and diana’s sister in favor of yara and nubia respectively. but knowing dc, and how cash is king, thats probably never gonna happen!!!

at least we have headcannons.

recently i started watching MUGEN videos again and came back with a really big appreciation for the custom wonder woman sprite designed by loganir with voice clips from justice league heroes. showcase here:

it has everything!!! there’s like so much attention to detail here. the suplex move, the rucka armor, the screaming chicken armor, the spin transformation, the tiara throw, the invisible jet, and most of all diana’s supporting cast! philippus, artemis, cassie, and donna!!

unfortunately this also made me think of the other fighting game wonder woman, the one in warner’s multiversus. note the difference in the design/composition

dceu-based model, dumb surface-level animation and horrible voice acting. the double standard strikes again. superman gets a dignified adaptation, meanwhile diana gets the gal gadot version because noooo henry cavill cringe!! hopefully the quotes aren’t as ba-

imo i think the biggest sin of wonder woman (2017) is that it’s not for the diana fans and it ruined her image. now we have to suffer the dceu wonder woman and all of the weirdos it brought in: people who don’t care for the source material at all and just want their gal gadot fix, the ww84 fans who think maxwell lord is a diana rogue, and the mouth-breathing wannabe comic readers who look at the azzarello amazon reproduction origin as a “gotcha” moment, and ofc wb cashing in because money’s all that matters

hopefully james gunn fully reboots this tomfoolery with paradise lost and we get a proper wonder woman lore in live action dc. he engages a lot with ww fans on twitter so im acc hopeful

ykw?? if the rumors about gal being the dcu ww are true and in fact not copium fakes, then fine. let the general audience have their shitty live action mythos. as a comic fan i don’t care. we’ve waited years for a proper wonder woman adaptation after having that godawful softcore 70s show and the nbc pilot and still they messed it up with snyder’s casting and the movies completely butchering the lore.

if anything this shows that dc still doesn’t care about wonder woman as a character, it’s all about the money. gal is the same she’s nothing without her version of wonder woman so im honestly not surprised there if she’s lying.

if the wonder woman (2009) movie ditched the “womanizing man vs radfem woman” dynamic between steve and diana it would’ve been a much better film. their relationship and contrasts should’ve been about their differences as ppl, not walking stereotypes. instead we had to get crap jokes (im not talking about unfunny jokes im actually saying there were excrement jokes in this movie), cringe lines like “its not polite to hit a lady” “you’re starting to sound like a woman” “how do you expect to defeat zeus if you can't even beat a girl” and also, this right here

so i feel like pseudo-reviewing/calling out the writing of “infected: deathbringer” because i’m that much of a masochist.

aaaaand here we go with part 1 of this torture fest:

yikes. so many things wrong with this narration. “many things to many people” and the last paragraph. we already knew he was going to infect her and we know who donna troy is. there is literally no need for this narration.

also i died inside when i opened this book up and saw that lineup of the titans. arghhh.

oh god. this entire page is an example of what not to do with “show vs. tell.” so much unnecessary exposition. those gigantic speech bubbles. god, nobody talks in paragraphs. it could be a fault of the script, but still. that’s on quinn.

“a bad guy i can punch” is possibly the most pathetic attempt at writing a superhero ever. that’s what it is. an attempt.

and this characterization of donna is just atrocious. i dont ever see her being secretly violent and angsty in a situation where she is supposed to be professional. i believe she would put on a strong face to show respect, and then sort herself out on private. case in point:

god. it feels almost insulting to include the real donna next to the out-of-character monstrosity that is this comic. things haven’t been good for her since 2016.

why is this version of donna comparing herself to people all the time? for that matter, what writer thinks it’s a good idea to hold up this idea of donna feeling inadequate, especially when compared to diana? the idea is that they’re both heroines in their own right. new 52 donna at least fixes this comparison problem by finding her own identity separate from diana. this one feels like a reversal.

and also: why is the titans annual origin shoved in our faces all the time? is this just a fault of donna and titans storylines, which always seem to focus on her origins? we know this version of her is a weapon. get over it already.

why is donna using a molotov cocktail. that’s so out of character. why.

is this implying that donna got angry and beat someone - a civilian - up? again, not professional. this would make sense if the infection was slow-acting, thus explaining her ooc moments here but that’s not the case.
