"Waaaah flamigo is literally just a flamingo it's not a pokemon"
I think y'all ought to accept that "literally just some animal" is a well established genre of pokemon by now
[ID: Pokémon that look like real animals. they are a pidgey (sparrow), ursaring (bear), taillow (swallow), lilipup (puppy), furfrou (poodle), toucannon (toucan), and greedent (squirrel). end ID]
I love ur twst pokemon au but I have exactly one complaint: Lilia doesn't have a Noivern
Mr pop rock bat without the sound bat??? Seems like a crime of some kind
(This is intended to be all lighthearted sorry if it comes off as otherwise!!!)
thanks! :> it's a boring reason, but I didn't give him one because it's not, like, a real AU or anything with full teams; it's just me drawing the guys with some pokemon according to a couple of arbitrary rules I made up! I wanted to keep it to just one or two each, and I was already pushing it by giving him three, so. 🤷 if you want him to have a Noivern, he can have a Noivern in your heart!
They should’ve kept Ash’s Gen 1 sarcasm and general scrappiness as a fixture of his character.
In a lot of the later incarnations of him, (looking at you, XY) he doesn’t really have a distinct personality outside of “kind” and “brave”, and a lot of the characters in the later seasons are either similarly sanitized (everyone) or done dirty by the writers in an attempt to replicate the old group dynamics without changing the status quo. (Iris)
I’m not saying that we bring back all of his old character flaws (he was kind of an asshole) but adding a bit of bite to him would’ve both spiced up the dialogue and made him a more distinct character instead of a convenient walking inciting incident for the writers.
Besides, it would’ve been funny to see him lash out at some of the villains, like that time he put the fourth movie’s villain in a chokehold.
Too bad Game Freak were cowards, now he’s gone forever.
nemona feels like an obscure blorbo instead of the main rival character from the latest pokemon game because to get to her really good content from people who really get it, you first have to wade through the ocean of yandere pervert obsessive stalker annoying punchable bimbo amazon goddess interpretations of...
... a neurodivergent and possibly disabled high schooler who's desperately trying to make any friends or get any support from her rich neglectful family - while everyone in her school is jealous of their own imagined version of a privileged asshole version of her they made up - who deeply and platonically loves and supports the one new kid who agreed to take the time to get to know and respect her and her special interest without having to hold back her true self
unlike her, it's not great!
kinda feels like she has the same problem in our world that she does in hers.
