Saban Power Rangers Verse Ideas

OOC. I need some help guys.

 After watching the new reboot movie I really want to create a verse (or a million) with MMPR Kimberly in the new movie. The idea was definitely inspired by the cameo of Amy Jo Johnson and JDF/their deleted other cameo. It was actually the inspiration to finally make a Kimberly from MMPR RP blog. I would love to bounce some ideas off of people. Message me if you have any suggestions or would be willing to help me figure this out. I would really appreciate it.

Below are what I currently have bouncing around my head:

Original Deleted Scene Something related to maybe a younger Kim and Tommy accidentally brought to the wrong dimension ( Due to JDF sporting longer hair I was originally picturing MMPR continuation instead of post Dino Thunder etc. Let’s be honest, the two of them don’t really look any older in that shot than they did in MMPR at some points. Damn their immortal faces! ). This option would make it easier to interact with reboot!Rangers since they have Ranger experience and might meet the new rangers and form friendships?

OR

Maybe them just existing in this 2017 Movie verse and not having been Rangers but still being friends in an AU style? I’m just not sure in this version how to explain away their same names as the new rangers or how they might know them. Maybe Kim is a student teacher so she’s observing at Angel Grove her old high school and that is how she knows the new kids? But then she would not know about who they are most likely.

Angel Grove Civilians

MMPR Kim and Tommy are just normal citizens of Angel Grove. They were never rangers. ( Kim might have the last name of her stepfather to avoid doppelgänger names? ) Kim is just a resident of Angel Grove. She works at the local community center and teaches gymnastics or/and is a substitute teacher. Her good friend Tommy is a Professor in nearby Reefside.

Kim and Tommy go to their 20 year reunion and reconnect with all their friends. Being back in Angel Grove of course never lets normal life last for long, ( not that the emotional reunion of the original rangers could really be normal ) and they find themselves transported to another dimension where they witness a different Rita Repulsa and Goldar trying to destroy the city. Unable to connect to Zordon or the Morphin Grid due to a lack of crystals and the fact they were not chosen in this universe, the two decide to play Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy in order to figure out what is going on.

Kimberly and Tommy are married with a kid. Either they are transported to this other world years ago or a little before the events of Saban’s Power Rangers.

OR

Kimberly and Tommy are normal civilians of Angel Grove. They are married with a kid. Kim is a teacher and Tommy either owns his own karate studio or is similar to his MMPR/Dino Thunder counterpart and has a degree in Paleontology. He was involved with the construction outside of the city where the construction crews were working and the gems were found.

Kim and Tommy’s cameo, they are the new Tommy’s parents! ( So probably no previous relation to power rangers there but they do end up getting to know the new ones pretty well due to them being their son’s new friends. ) Moving to a new city for Dr. Oliver’s job, he and his wife wonder if they made a mistake moving to a city that now has giant metal robot beasts fight space aliens?? Thankfully their new place was spared in the destruction made by Goldar and Rita. 

Soooo....as you can see. I have a million ideas but I don’t know which ones to scrap or develop more. I would love some feedback or someone to be a sounding board as I try and figure it out. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

I'm awake and getting ready for work! I've also decided to try my hand at the Rangers Resources thing again. When I get back online, I'll work up full details including admin duties and all of that good stuff. I know that our focus is going to be P/ower R/angers resources (the show, the movie, and the Japanese counterparts) and that we WILL have a roleplayer directory. We'll also focus mainly on helping out indie roleplayers since they tend to hang around longer than roleplaying groups. I'm going to need help running this. To make it easier on everyone, it'll be a sideblog. I'll have at least four admins (but I'm open to more). I'll post an official application when I get off work, but if you're interested in talking one on one, shoot me a message or give this a like.

Sky sank into the new couch in his tiny new apartment, one hand reaching up to rub his face. An exhaustion that went deeper than the physical aspects settled over every part of him, his eyes closing as he sucked in a shaky breath. It was his first night in his new apartment, having officially retired from his commander position at SPD earlier that day. There had been no big announcement, no pomp or ceremony. It’d been as sudden and as quiet as his decision to step down had been.

He was thirty three years old and already felt so much older. Sky had never expected to step down from SPD so early in his life (if you could call stepping down at 33 years old after serving in the organization for over 20 years early), but he felt as if he didn’t have a choice. He was so constantly exhausted, constantly in pain, constantly feeling as if something were missing from his very busy life. Crueger hadn’t wanted him to retire, but he’d understood. He’d seen the exhausted lines of Sky’s body, had seen the lack of light in the former Ranger’s eyes, and had just known. He’d made his decision and had officially stepped down, all within a week’s span.

Loneliness sat in his gut and Sky found himself suddenly wishing that he hadn’t been so quiet about it. Hell, he hadn’t even bothered calling up his old squad and let them know that he was retiring, a decision that he now regretted. He’d fallen out of touch with them since becoming commander, usually only keeping up with Bridge until the other man had decided to live a ‘quiet’ life. Whatever that meant. Sky hadn’t wanted to burden them with the news. They all had lives now, far away from SPD and criminals and constant danger. He hadn’t been able to bring himself to disrupt that.

A sudden knock on the door startled Sky and caused him to frown. Who would be knocking on his door this late? A nosy neighbor? The only people from SPD who had his new address was Crueger (who wasn’t even on Earth), Kat (who was currently visiting Crueger), and Boom (who was too busy to be visiting him). Curious and more than a little wary, Sky forced his aching body to its feet and moved to the door. Cautiously, he opened it and peeked out. “Hello?”

A bright flash of green light fills the darkened street, making it almost as bright as day for a few moments. when the light fades, a man stands in its place. His face is in the shadows but he takes a few steps forward, a sliver of light finally illuminating his features. He was older and there was a sense of tiredness about his expression, but there was something about him that screamed that he wasn’t someone to be trifled with.

The man’s eyes shone bright green for a long moment before the light faded into dark brown irises. At first glance, the man was positively frightening, as if he were some demon from a tale of horror. The illusion was quickly dispelled when the roar of an alien filled the dark street, causing the man’s expression to shift into one of worry and gentle concern. He darted forward, moving quickly to the scene. “Get behind me!” he shouted, reaching to pull the person caught in the alien’s path behind him and making sure to plant himself firmly in between them and the threat.
