🍻Episode #26: Quarantine Edition ~ The Peoples Beer with Rodg Little of Oak Park + Theodore Mack Jr. ~ Adjunct Series 🍻 We don't often get to be part of craft beer history, and this episode was one of those occasions. Theodore Mack Sr. purchased the @peoplesbeerco in 1970, making him the first African American craft brewery owner - ever. They were well known for their Peoples Beer Lager, which got some serious traction in its day. Now, more than 50 years later, with the help of the team at @opbrewco in Sacramento, the beer is back and better than ever. We hung out with brewer Rodg Little and Mr. Mack's son, Theodore (Ted) Mack Jr., to find out how they connected, how one turns a recipe from the '70s into a modern beer, we heard Mr. Mack Sr.'s fascinating story of triumph through adversity in detail, and we were fortunate enough to drink the Peoples Beer Lager with two men who are helping the beer world recreate history. 🇺🇸 Note: The audio was inconsistent until around the 18-minute mark but it cleared up after that. Anyone that thinks #beertravel is just about the #craftbeer could not be more wrong. It’s also about the people you meet, making new friends, finding unplanned or unexpected new adventures, and sometimes about history. So today, while eating lunch @pangaeacafe , we happened to sit next to and meet the brewers for @opbrewco . Rodgster and Tall Geoff became our new friends as well as @kinkysudz - who was there to launch a collaboration beer at Oak Park. And wham, we were off to Oak Park to learn more about their operations, culture and #beer. What a fantastic delight! And the beer was excellent. The collaboration beer, called Scarlet, launches tonight. Congratulations to @kinkysudz and @opbrewco ! Patricia and I hope we all stay in touch and share some beers also.
