Another request! This one is a punch right in the feels.
Some may know this, but some may not. What’s interesting about this song is that it was written before the chapter about Albert’s guilt was released (Ch62, if I remember correctly?). The author tweeted about it that the musical staff had access to details of future plans that her staff shared with them. No wonder morimyu is such a good adaptation! I think they really go in-depth about how they show the characters through the lyrics, and this one's just super freaking accurate.

William, I was the one who guided you on this path to punishment You and Louis, who were orphans That day, I made you my brothers
If I hadn’t invited you If I hadn’t asked you to help me kill my brother and parents Would you not have had to bear this ice-cold pain?
William, I pledge to you I offer you my soul Let us carry this burden and walk the road to Golgotha together[1]
Let us carry this burden and walk the road to Golgotha together
Albert: You... are not alone. William: Thank you very much. But I cannot change this fate. I ask that you allow me to live the remaining time the way I want to, so I have no regrets. Albert: I see. Will, no matter what path you take, know that I’m your ally.
Notes:
[1] Golgotha - Christian reference. It’s where Jesus Christ was crucified. As such, Albert’s saying he’ll accompany William as he walks towards his death.

Happy Valentines!! Wow, it’s been half a year since I last posted lyrics. Omg, I’m so sorry! Here’s to hoping I can post lyrics more frequently until I complete Op. 3. Especially considering there’s a bunch of songs from Op. 4 I want to translate soon!! But anyhow!! Here’s one of the requests.

What melody reverberates in this unfortunate city? The cries of those hurting, hoping to be saved What sounds reverberate in this turbulent city? Lord of Crime, I can hear your footsteps
[William][Sherlock] In this nostalgic city, the bells of dawn certainly ring in [Ooh at dawn] the future where this world heads towards [this world]
[Sherlock][William] You’re at the end of this path, are you not? [Ooh the mystery] Lord of Crime, the mystery I want to solve most [you want to solve]
[William] / [Sherlock] I [You are there] will not let them be erased [in the horizon] The cries of those who suffer [of that deep night]
[John][Ensemble] Ah, Sherlock. I’ll go with you [Sherlock] I want to save the innocent [With you]
For the perfect world We go on this path Within this writhing darkness We head towards the horizon
Turbulent winds envelop the city Clear your ears, sharpen your eyes There are those with wicked plans who lurk out there
This is the path I must take I must uphold my justice There is no other path
Oh, my new toy. Go and struggle Fill my heart with that melody Writhe in agony atop my palm
This is war I will protect the Yard’s justice We take a gamble tomorrow The fun begins
What kind of future will the ringing of Whitechapel’s bells bring? What kind of dawn will the ringing of Whitechapel’s bells bring? The ringing of Whitechapel’s bells...

This is the second request! This song really gives me the chills whenever I listen to it. The hopelessness that just oozes out from the notes itself. Oof. And here come the Moriarty group to save everyone. ;A; What I never noticed was that the ensemble actually sing lines here! I thought they were mostly vocalizations. But damn... I placed the ensemble’s lines at the end.

They who have no power are not made by god but by humans who look down on and trample others
Let me be your anger’s fist Let me wipe away your tears Please, don’t extinguish the hope in my heart that a light will once shine light upon this darkness
Reach out to those left in darkness Praying alone will not save you Listen to those who cry but can’t be heard Bear the shadows as much as we can carry We shall save all you who are powerless Even if my body falls to darkness
For the lives of those who are powerless For the souls of those who are powerless
[Ensemble] All our hopes have been lost All we want to protect have been stolen We can only pray softly in this darkness that drowns us
Does god not exist in this world where the demons rule? It’s engraved to our bodies A punishment that won’t disappear even in death
(from “Daieiteikoku in Op1 and Op2) This is the Great British Empire A city built within a cage by demons All we can do is pray, our fleeting desires Oh, please, shine light on this hell

Third request! This song is pretty fun, while also diving deep into the boys’ past with Jack-ojisan. I really love the latter part of the song, especially with the lovely harmonization of Shogo, Hide and Ikkei. The best part for me is the final “you ni” ~ It’s so good!!!

Then, why is it, Master?
If I let “Jack the Ripper”’s reputation spread through the world as is People will think I’m someone who kills helpless prostitutes If I try to close this case myself, I doubt it’ll die down That’s the end of it! So I have to clear my name.[1]
Says London’s #1 lady-killer
Jack: Lady? Right, a lady! I heard you’re housing a pretty lady named “Irene Adler” here? Bond: Ah, that seems to be me!
Irene Adler is dead. I’m now Bond. James Bond.
Jack: I see! What a handsome man you are. Then you wouldn’t mind if I treated you like a man.
Would you like to do some evening training with me? What do you think? You up for it, Bond-kun?
Moran: Just how shameless are you... Bond: Uh... Training? Louis: The three of us were taken in by the Rockwell estate after the incident. And that estate’s butler was Jack-sensei. Bond: I see.
I can still remember that day. You three, still young, approached me You saw through all my secrets That I was an ex-soldier, “Jack the Ripper”
And with these young boys’ cold eyes You begged to me
Ah, please We want to be able to survive by ourselves Please teach us how to protect ourselves Please teach us self-defense
I quickly felt their resolve Within their frozen eyes was an ever-blazing blue flame I decided to teach them what they want, self-defense And to beat into their bodies the skills for murder
Let’s beat into [Jack the origin] these souls soaked in blood [Jack the origin] Let me, Jack the Ripper [Jack the origin] give you all my skills So that the world can be enveloped by your blue flames
Notes: [1a] 終活 - actually refers to preparing for death, but I couldn’t fit it in the context [1b] 立つ鳥跡を濁さず - a proverb. Literally “A bird does not foul the nest it is about to leave” which means “one must clean up after oneself”. So probs Jack-sensei’s pretty much just saying he has to clean up “Jack the Ripper”’s mess because it’s his name that’s at stake.

This song. Oh, this song. Where to even begin? A beautiful, wonderful, lovely display of Suzuki Shogo’s voice, for one. The piano? Perfection. And the meaning... Oh, lord. Sherliam shippers, we’re well-fed. And the fact that I received four different requests for this. I absolutely love it. LOL

One of the sherliam duets! (There are a lot in Op 3.) This song explores Sherlock’s feelings about being led around by William. I love that they chose to center on the “rondo” theme, and even include a dance in the choreography. I’m unfortunately not well-versed in the different types of musical themes (that’s turnaroundroundround’s department). You can read their bit where they explain the rondo.
Spun around the rondo
巡れ論舞度(ロンド)| Megure rondo Characters: Sherlock Holmes, William James Moriarty
Edit: (08/29/2022) Realized there’s an alternative translation to “Meguri meguru / Kimi wo omou”. Which makes it even gayer, wow.

Well, it is release day. What better way to celebrate than to post a new translation?
This song is the final song of Op. 3. Even before the announcement of Op. 4, I already felt it hinting heavily at what may happen in Op. 4, what this song refers to as “the fateful night”. And what I’ve assumed it to be is the night when Milverton gets William and Sherlock to face each other for the first time as Lord of Crime and Detective. OOF. Just imagining how that scene could play out in Op. 4 sends chills up my spine.
This song has a few references to previous songs that I want to highlight. But I’ll do that under the translation. Enjoy!

References:
1) I hope / I will - This reference is probs very obvious to anyone who’s heard of the final song in Op 2. It hits me hard that this reference doesn’t come up until the final song. In Op 2, William and Sherlock sing “I hope” and “I will” respectively, separately. The verbs reflect their expectations in their upcoming future: William hopes Sherlock will catch him. Sherlock is determined that he will catch William. Here, they both have “hopes” and “wills”. I’ll leave it to you to see how different they seem to be from each other.
2) 風邪が吹く / Kaze ga fuku / The wind blows - This is a recurring reference in Op 3, as will be revealed in future translations (namely, Kodoku no heya ni and Kokoro wo daite). In Kodoku no heya ni, William refers to Sherlock’s existence in his life as a wind that gently blows onto his cheek. A soft presence that comforts him. Which makes me wonder, if in this song, both sherliam sing this line, does Sherlock also think William is a wind that blows for him?? Who knows.

FHGHFGH This song. Gosh. It gives me a whole ton of Moriarty group feels, while also giving me sherliam feels. I love this song a LOT. Just like Saigo no hajimari, it starts building up to what will possibly be the events of Op 4. Line references at the bottom, after the translation.

That day silently approaches The day I’d chosen since I was young I hold my heart, cold, where no sound reaches I am alone even today...

What is this anxious feeling? Nii-san, I would go anywhere, as long as I’m with you
I would protect your ideals, your will I wouldn’t hesitate throwing away my life for you
I chose to go on this path I offer everything to you, so I can be with you
You are all so precious to me Which is why I alone... I alone...
The fateful day approaches All that we’ve done is for your ideal world Silently welling with emotion, we hold our hearts We think of him (William), holding our hearts
The wind stirs. The wind blows.
Should I let you go? Should I catch you? Which will you choose, Sherlock? Which path do I choose...
Silently welling with emotion, I hold my heart I [I] think of you, holding my heart I [I] think of you, holding my heart
References:
1) 風が吹く / Kaze ga fuku / The wind blows - Much like in Kodoku no heya ni and Saigo no hajimari, it refers to Sherlock. I like to think that the line where William sings “The wind stirs. The wind blows.”, the first half is the air stirring because of what’s to come. The final act of their mission. The second half is Sherlock, giving him comfort in the midst of the turmoil in his heart. Overall, I think this track captures why William is determined to die alone. “You are all so precious to me / Which is why I alone... I alone...” Despite how the entire Moriarty team is dedicated to William, he cannot confide in them because he believes he has to go at it alone. (IT HURTS. But also it’s delicious.) His only comfort rn is Sherlock. :((
2) Fred’s “I chose to go on this path” - a tiny (very cute) reference to his line back in Op 2 (Hunting of the Baskervilles arc).

Durham date was already a perfect chapter in itself. (Unfortunately, never animated.) And yet, the musical pushed Durham date’s quality even higher by introducing this: sherliam adopting Bill. JASLDKFJ They’re super duper cute. Pls. They even have a family picture (source).

Sherlock: Be a little more honest. We can tell that you really want to keep studying. The next step is for us adults to do our thing. No matter what, we’ll get you into this university! Bill: Is it... really okay... if I...? Sherlock: As a matter of fact, yes! Right, Liam? William: Of course. I shall forward my recommendation to the dean. Sherlock: See? Ain’t that great? Bill: Thank you... Thank you... so very much.

Here’s the first of Milverton’s songs. As the requester said, he sounds so evil. I agree whole heartedly. Fujita Rei is just sooooo fuckin good at sounding like a villain. (He’s playing Geto Suguru in the current JujuSte!!) And lord, his growls?? I can have it for breakfast.
Partake of your soul

Hello! It’s been such a loooooooong, long time since my last lyrics post. Lotsa RL stuff cleared up this month, so hopefully I’ll be able to regularly post lyrics throughout August. (That’s the goal!)
I’m starting with a request by @alphardofthealley as thanks for the lyrics copy. I’m so sorry the “few days” I promised you had turned into months. I hope this translation satisfies you.
Wrapped in mysteries
謎に謎めく | Nazo ni Nazomeku Character: Sherlock Holmes
Kanji

Somewhere in the world, mysteries continue to spawn Like the countless stars that could cover the skies Mysteries overflow in the world Mysteries mystify the mystery with another mystery*
As long as people keep living, mysteries will continue to spawn Countless connections, a gem of mysteries My heart is captivated by mysteries Mysteries mystify the mystery with another mystery*
Ah This, too, is a gem of mysteries A seemingly insignificant speck of light But if you’re waiting on the other side (of this light) Lord of Crime, Lord of Crime...
I yearn for a mystery that can move my heart Not a mystery as easy as slipping sand through your fingers Lord of Crime, which path do I follow to get to you...? Mysteries mystify the mystery with another mystery*
Mysteries mystify the mystery with another mystery*
* I tried to keep the play on the word “nazo” (mystery). It means the mysteries are piling up so much, they’re all getting entangled. Basically, Sherlock is wrapped in mysteries.

Part 2 of the Milverton request! Daaaaaaaamn, this is a short song, but you can hear just how awful a human being Milverton is in every note. LOL My favorite part is when Rei does the “Kuwareru ga ii”. HGNNGNGNG It’s so good.
