During your entire life, you never cared about others’ opinions, not even on the job. Like any morning, you get up and prepare yourself for the training, and the best thing was that being part of the 141, you can easily train all by yourself without the presence of random people.

But the troubles begin during lunchtime. You used to sit alone, sometimes with Soap or Gaz, but this week weren’t at the base, so you’re all alone, sitting alone, with the food staring back at you, feeling their gaze deep in your skin, your cheeks burning in shame.

What did I do wrong?

A question to which you could not find an answer while hearing the sound of steps behind you.

Taking a sip of water from your bottle, you see some people watching you, not too far away from where you were sitting, on their face a sadistic smile- you swear you can hear them saying your name- a shiver run through your spine, feeling something cold all over your body, your skin a single bundle of goosebumps- while the room falls on a dreadful silence.

“Ops, sorry...” someone walks by, holding an empty bucket, giggling, and going back to his table.

Your mind is blank, still trying to process what just happened. Or why it happened.

The food was now drowning in puddles of water and ice and was completely uneatable. Not even realizing that tears were mixing with the water on your face, you carefully take your food, trying not to slip into the wet floor, throwing on the trash what was your lunch, trying to escape all those eyes that were still staring at you- some of them surprised, others amused, or some others giving you look of pity.

The garbage cans are right next to the exit door, but they open even before you get closer to them, a tall figure looming in front of you, his eyes slightly widened in shock at how you were in front of him- Ghost’s eyes now scanning the entire room- the look of a predator in his eyes.

You stand still, watching him -your best friend- going right in front of the guy that spilled on you a whole bucket of water and ice, all the others with their heads down, but you can’t tell if in fear or shame.

He says something to him, making the guy and the entire group walk away, not even raising their heads when they pass right next to you.

Ghost returns to you, your body now covered in shivers and goosebumps, the wet clothes now sticking uncomfortably to your skin. With a gesture of his head, you follow him outside, guiding you to your room, closer than his own. He follows you inside, waiting for you to dry and change your clothes.

As you rub your towel in your half-dry hair, you see Ghost pacing in your room, trying the relieve some tension, gloveless hands in clenched fists, eyes roaming all over your room.

“What will happen to them?” you slowly mumble, not caring about the answer: you only want to calm Ghost, and talking sometimes helps him.

“I’ll make sure to have them well far away from here.” he whispers, sitting next to you, his arms gripping tightly your body and bringing it closer to his own, trapping you in his arms, holding you like you will slip away in a moment or another, the steady beat of his heart on your cheek, his warmth spreading on you.

His chin grazes your forehead, then his hand replaces the fabric of his balaclava, glancing at you with concern.

“You’re burning up.”

“I’m okay...” you violently shiver, your half-closed eyes glancing at his hand connected to yours, gently holding it.

“Stop telling that.” he lowers his voice, his chest rising slowly, like a lullaby cradling you to sleep.

“Rest. I’ll be here when you wake up.”

His voice sounds distant, drifting to sleep from the exhaustion and from the fever, comforted by the presence of your best friend, someone who cares really for you.

Karim is constantly misunderstanding things because of his own biases. like how he thought the Janai wouldn’t fight because he came to the conclusion that the throne doesn’t matter to her because she didn’t lead like he wanted her to. and now he thinks that what Sol Regem needs is sight when what he actually needs is hope

the ‘i would do anything for you’ is sounding scary in the context of we just heard that that’s what started Viren’s descend into darkness

the library fight sequence is great, always fun to see their different fighting styles and how the cooperate

but it also gave me so much anxiety because Amaya is exactly the character that’s important and beloved enough that the writers might decide to make her infected so we all suffer

Hello anon. Yes, I am radical feminist. My academic research and interests are also centered on feminist theory and queer theory particularly as it concerns literature and literary criticism. For over two years now I’ve used this blog mainly as an aesthetics/DA blog and never truly posted much about my studies (ironic bc this is called elistudies). I never truly engaged in discourse through this blog so I am guessing the questions currently flooding my inbox about my feminist stance come from that one post i reblogged in which I told OP to stay strong in as she engaged in the frustrating but necessary work that is being a feminist in academia.

Now, I know there will be an upheaval once this is out bc I am aware that radical feminists do not have the best reputation (but tbh feminists have never been treated decently since our work is inherently disruptive to the status quo) but especially here on tumblr where radical feminists often clash with trans rights activists.

Before commenting anything stupid i implore you to inform yourself on what radical feminism really is. I’ll leave u here with some screenshots from Alison M. Jaggar and Paula S. Rothenberg’s introduction to feminist frameworks in which they briefly explain the different approaches to feminism. i’ve chosen for you the sections on radical feminism, socialist feminism, and intersectional feminism. Do keep in mind this book is pretty old published in 1978 with a second edition in 1984, and many frameworks have evolved and developed since then, but the core tenets have stayed somewhat the same.

I am also leaving you with an excerpt of the Combahee River Collective Statement in which they delineate the ideals of Black Radical Feminism.

not quite a liveblog as I am wont to do but ruth and I watched tf earthspark so I figured id write down scattered thoughts bc who KNOWS when the next eps are dropping and id love to remember what I think of things whenever that rolls around

so let me start off by saying this show is banger. we rlly like it so far awww

still also gotta say rip cyberverse, that show was SO good and died too soon :( 

but yeah I like this show a lot!!! I rlly dig how it looks, I wasn’t sure about the art style/3d animation at first but it looks really good. better than cyberverse if I'm honest (sorry cybv your budget probably wasn’t as good its not ur fault)

I loooove that we’re starting off at an interesting point in which the autobot-decepticon war is over and has been for a while, and megatron is on the same side as the bots, but there’s still conflict....LOVE IT 

cyberverse was also based for having the war going on but in a different way than shows usually did, and having the sides kind of aware of how fruitless the fighting was, and then eventually w the quintessons the two sides had to unite. anyways I have a whole separate post on cyberverse so I should chill 

the human characters are great. I feel like there's the right amount of focus on them and I really dig the family dynamic we’re getting. the kids are cute and fun and I love their relationships w/the bots...I love that mo calls OP “mr optimus” awww

I love the parents also. alex husband of the year he’s so great. and dorothy is so cool and I LOVE her and megatron. they’re like platonic malewife-girlboss. power bffs. 

LOVE how she doesn’t like OP but like megatron. SO funny. 

I really enjoy that the robots aren’t ‘in disguise’ either - the world seems to be aware of them and their existence and the war that went on. that’s cool! I like that a lot; ik the tagline for tf is ‘robots in disguise’ and all but if u think about it they weren’t really hidden in g1 even

Love that there’s comics about the tfs in canon too

I really like this bumblebee!! his design is so cute and I really appreciate that he isn’t ‘the kid’ in this, and has to assume a more mentor-like role. very cool and entertaining

ok and the terrans are adorable. theyre just babies and I love them. I looove how they were adopted into the malto family its so cute. I’m enjoying them and their antics and I feel like there’s a great mix of cute hijinks w/them learning how to be tfs, and also with other plot stuff 

LOOOOVE the plot implications. JUICY!!!!!!!!!! GHOST is so fucking sketchy I LOVE THAT. I love that OP is working for them, and has a sense of ‘I’m doing this for the greater good/this is a means to an end (the end being peace)’ but OP seems to know that GHOST is sketchy as fuck - with him hiding the terrans’ existence and bumblebee being alive from them...but also he tells megatron to give them a chance, which is very OP of him, so that makes sense, but I’m curious if it’ll blow up in his face ((it totally will))

megatron was RIGHT in that one ep where he was trashing GHOST. them having all those cons locked up is bad news. and ruth pointed out that we haven’t even seen who’s in charge of GHOST which is pretty concerning.

also I can’t believe that one agent guy isn’t voiced by will arnett bc he totally sounds like him 

I super loved the flashbacks of the cybertronian history that were animated in g1 style :’) it reminded me of in tfa where they used clips from g1 as part of the history lesson 

I loooove megatron in this show he’s so cool. he gives me some mtmte megatron vibes - he basically says that he agreed to join GHOST/the autobot side in order to protect the cons from worse consequences. I’m interested to hear more about the war and what went on. I’d love some war flashbacks personally

I like that he clearly doesn’t want to hurt the decepticons or hand them over to GHOST, and also the cons think of him as a traitor, but it seems rough for cons out there. what else are they gonna do?

I think it would be epic if they paralleled OP and megatron - with OP joining up with GHOST bc he think he’s doing the right thing for his species and humans, only to discover that GHOST is fr bad news - and megatron binding himself to service w/GHOST and the autobots in exchange for supposed safety (?or something? Not super clear what the cons/megatron got out of that bargain) for the cons, only to discover (as he basically already did) that the cons aren’t doing great out there and they think of him as a traitor

also mandroid is actually pretty interesting for a human villain. I was expecting not to like him (espec at the beginning, he reminded me of silas from tfp who ended up being a nuisance and didn’t really have a point in the plot imo) bc tf human villains are more often miss than hit but he’s interesting 

I like that he has pretty legit reasons to want to get rid of the “invasive species” (as a biologist I love that phrasing), after he got drafted into the war and then injured in friendly fire

LOVED the part where he talks about this and dot is like ‘yeah I also got injured in the war and that sucks for us but I’m judging you based on your actions and YOU suck’ that was so epic she’s so epic and cool

and he knows alex??? ?? fruity ????? are they exes??? whats the vibe. I bet alex used to work for GHOST and that’s how he and dot met

having a whole ass giant robot arm is wild tho. no way that’s how it works bro

I’m gonna make a separate post abt that but they were EXCELLENT. one place I think cyberverse was weak in was the fight scenes - in s1 I would say they were actively boring (sorry cybv ily) and they got better but still were a bit clunky and awkward and formulaic. I feel like it was due to animation/budget constrictions more than anything

I like that the humans are directly involved in the plot in a way that makes sense bc the human world has already been to war with/alongside the tfs, so there are a ton of different relationships that humans can have w/the tfs. this is way more interesting than st like tfp, which I think did a pretty bad job integrating the humans, or tfa, which had Sari w/a macguffin that was plot-important in order to keep her involved 

tbf that’s kinda going on w/the kids having links to the terrans but I like the way it’s played out so far. I love the suggestions of lore we’ve gotten too, w/quintus prime and stuff

also they’ve made a point of showing that symbol in the cave where the terrans were born MORE THAN ONCE, and it totally looks like those spiderbots, so I’m thinking there’s definitely a connection there. something weird is going on

Ah, that would be the community tags. For whatever reason only one post got flagged (kinktober day 8 of all of them???) So I had to start putting those new tags on everything.

As far as I'm aware, the new tags can show up if you're over 13 (?? I think that's the age limit...might be 18 but for some reason that feels too high??) But you also have to verify your age in Settings and click "show" under the community tags. (I obviously use the Mature and Sexual Themes tags so if you still don't want to see Addictions and Violence you can custom op those to either be hidden or blurred).

I was going to do this to avoid having this account deleted completely when the tags were announced in the first place. I apologize, I should have made a clearer announcement of that. But no, this blog isn't going anywhere any time soon... if I can help it. <3

at the end of the day, you're going to get haters. if they don't spread it to gossip blogs, they'll spread it privately. the krpc loves drama and gossip before anything. // unpopular take, but my god. if you don’t feel comfortable bringing up your concerns to an admin, complaining privately is DEFINITELY the lesser of two evils. by far. and before you leap at my throat, i just mean discuss your concerns with one or two friends who you trust (and like really trust, not new friends) and like think twice before bringing that shit here? (unless, of course, it’s about a serious issue like racism, ableism, bigotry, etc with HARD evidence). there’s a reason why most western rps can close without setting the rest of the community in flames, and it’s because the vent blog/call out culture is way smaller/more contained there at the moment. it’s not because they lack ooc drama or people who start shit any more than your typical krp. trust me.

Really good vision after showering and immediately after waking up from sleeping

Hi All - recently had CXL done on my right eye (2.5 months ago) and left eye (1.5 month ago). My vision in both eyes is worse than pre-op and I am very concerned. Halos and ghosting are worse in both eyes, including my left (which had minimal ghosting prior to CXL). I’ve noticed that my vision is actually not that bad when I 1) get done with showering and 2) immediately when I wake up from a nap / a night’s sleep. Has anyone else experienced this? What is the reason - is it that my eyes are being moisturized or am I not straining them as much? Within 10 minutes of getting out of the shower / waking up my eyes slowly revert back to terrible ghosting / halos. I’ve been using artificial tears pretty religiously every hour so I feel like I am keeping my eyes moisturized. Separately, are my eyes expected to get better over time? Spill the tea on Todd Rogers!! I don't know who that is but I'm here for drama!

Todd Rogers is famous in the early speedrunning community, holding hundreds of records over his years. He even had a Guinness record for the longest held speedrunning record: 5.51 seconds in an Atari game called Dragster. (Achieved in 1982)

Dragster has you do a short drag race after a countdown and will have the time clearly marked on-screen. This made it a perfect early speed game, because you didn’t have to try and time yourself or even play any round for more than a few seconds. You could practice for two hours and have 700 attempts under your belt.

Another thing worth noting is the way the game calculates time, the hundredths of a second were in 0.03 increments, so 5.51 would become 5.54 would become 5.57. Just keep it in your mind that these are basically the three important numbers, and they’re all right next to each other as far as the game is concerned.

Sign Of The Times

You might be thinking that it is a slow news day around Dr Gerlich’s desk when he resorts to writing about a new Whole Foods store being built. I know. It sounds rather mundane. It’s just a fancy, upscale grocery, right?

Except when that Whole Foods is the center of a local controversy, and, in fact, that new store was unwanted by a portion of the population. I’m pretty sure that most cities would welcome this addition, if anything because it increases shopping opportunities.

But not in Bozeman Montana. While construction of the new store is moving along on the city’s west side, it has faced an unanticipated amount of opposition from citizens, specifically a group called Bozeman Matters who appealed the City Council’s approval of building permits more than a year ago. Sure, they cited the usual concerns, like traffic, runoff, and pollution. At the heart of the matter was fear that the Amazon-owned grocer would hurt locally-owned shops.

Yup. That’s what it’s all about. They lost. I have been to Bozeman a few times. It’s a trendy university town not far from Yellowstone, both the National Park and the hit television show (Season 5 debuts this coming Sunday night). Numerous scenes have been filmed in town, as well as the Chief Joseph Ranch not far south of town. And I suspect the center of their concerns is the Bozeman Community Food Co-op, a community-owned grocery. It’s a lot like the hippie-run co-op I patronized while in grad school at Indiana U.

You know what? I bet Whole Foods crushes this little co-op, unless the citizen group can rally enough homegrown support. I’m just being realistic. With much of Bozeman’s growth coming from folks far from Montana, they will all know the Whole Foods name and will likely come to roost there for their comestibles.

And grow it has. Bozeman is the fastest-growing micropolitan area in the US, but it’s all relative. Gallatin County only has 126,000 residents, of which 55,000 live inn Bozeman. And based on my visit a few months ago, Belgrade, once a tiny city a few miles northwest, is now a bedroom community. A suburb. That’s pretty high praise, because Bozeman is acting a lot bigger than it really is.

Complicating matters is that the influx of outsider money has put a huge strain on living expenses. The median house price is $495,000. Don’t go there expecting to find bargains. In fact, Bozeman has become so expensive that natives often can no longer afford to live there, and have been forced to leave. I learned this while visiting other Montana towns farther away from all the Yellowstone influence. I can only imagine being forced into refugee status from your own home town.

And those newcomers no doubt visited in summer, when it is delightful. They don’t consider that it gets pretty cold in Montana in winter, and there’s a lot of snow. Right now it is a nippy 8F in Bozeman as I write, and it will be many months before they return to anything remotely resembling balmy. I bet those Californians are freezing, and wondering why they came in the first place.

The historic downtown is everything you would expect an old Montana city to look like, with its stately brick buildings, an old hotel, a distillery, outfitters and boutiques, and cafes serving everything from comfort food to trendy spendy progressive fare. That’s all Gerlich-speak for “I love it.” Well, except for the fairly standard $300 nightly rates at area hotels. That’s what you pay for popularity.

Meanwhile, demolition of an old shopping center is underway allowing for Whole Foods and other tenants to expand into Bozeman. It’s yet another homogenized strip mall, even if they construct the facades to look like a mountain town. I guess that’s the price of Progress with a big P, a force that can be blessing and curse all at once.

As for Bozeman Matters and its devotees, they lost the battle and the war. The food co-op they love and adore will face tough times. I’ve been to it. It’s nice, but it’s definitely not Whole Foods. But then again, Bozeman isn’t Bozeman anymore either. It’s a very different place now. I can’t blame the locals for wanting to preserve what they once had.

That ship left the harbor, though. It’s hard to imagine proximity to a National Park and being a filming location as bad things, but without them, Bozeman would probably have remained a sleepy little Montana town of 27,000 like it was only 22 years ago. National Parks are riding a crest of popularity these days, and TV is TV. Each episode is an hour-long advertisement for one of the prettiest parts of the country.

I hope the old co-op can survive. I wish Whole Foods and its parent company well also. When the pie is growing, it attracts competitors. Growth can be painful, even mournful at times. City Councils, though, typically see dollar signs, implicitly hanging out to dry others who were there before. Progress can be a wicked taskmaster.
