okay so im seeing a lot of theories about whats going on in pesterquest wrt the timeline, so heres my take:

it’s not a classic time travel scenario, its a “break reality” scenario.

Homestuck has always been kind of a “game,” right? and retconning is a bit like “cheating.” when john did it, it was still like, “supposed” to happen, not within sburb, but within Homestuck. because he’s a character. but mspa reader doesn’t exist within homestuck. they, WE, are the PLAYER of Homestuck. so when they stuck their hand in the juju, what happened? they CRASHED the game. it literally shows us a bug report.

and what happens when you break the code of a game to wind up in areas you aren’t supposed to? the narrative doesn’t make sense anymore. you skip over a quest that an npc still thanks you for. your sworn enemy you never saw still ends up in the final battle. that’s how speedruns work. mspa reader clipped through the floor and now the game (again, Homestuck, not SBURB) is just awkwardly trying to keep the script going by having jack and prospit and the trolls and everything still work. except they dont work. which is why we broke the transportalizer.

I anticipate several more glitches in the future, who knows maybe random characters from friendsim will suddenly show up hundreds of years after theyre supposed to.
