that guy : some dunderhead who thought they could stalk around the house and intimidate her girls as some sort of act of revenge for... spirits knows, because toph certainly didn't. it might be a grudge the guy held from when the first metalbender was twelve, or it could be a grudge from last week. nowadays, these things tend to blur. few criminals could truly rattle her, having lived as long as she did and taken on as many idiots as she had. still. to think they'd be cowardly enough to have done it when they knew she wouldn't be around.

toph isn't stupid. they moron was probably planning something. and her girls... foiled that.

the older beifong sighs, and yeah, toph gets it : maybe she should be proud. any other time she would be, she thinks. any other time when her girls may not be her daughters, she might. because there's that little thing no one told you about parenting, you see — or, well, someone probably did tell her. her own parents maybe, remembering the way her own mother would still fret, but — it's... scary. the kind of scary toph had never gotten used to, not since the moment she knew she had another heartbeat inside of her. she wants to pummel the guy who thought they could get an upper hand over her family; all the same, she wishes she could build a wall just to keep lin and suyin safe.

but toph would cut off both her hands than to ever let that come true. no child of hers would know how she'd felt in her own childhood.
