Need help from non-showoffs

Looking to add to this list of birds. Well-known, regular birds that people have heard of. I'm sure I'm missing plenty. Not obscure birds. Please reply with any known, normal birds that come to mind. These are generally going to be one-word names, sometimes two. Thank you for resisting the urge to show off and help me list some birds <3 I'm not even going to call this a tumblr-specific urge; it's a lot of people online urge.

Harpy!Rika headcannons

Rika is a roadrunner Harpy, her wings are smaller than others but she can still fly; a harpy built for the land. You met her on a hike, your house was not too far from the trail one of the many perks about living in the country. Sitting down on a rock opening up your water canteen. You haven't noticed the heart retail you saw her in the corner of your eye sitting down her red eyes watching you closely, she's always seen humans hiking here but she has never seen a human this close before. Judging by the cute shocked look on your face You don't see many hybrids around here either. She leaned in close trying to touch you

Her smile widen when you jumped off your butt. The first thing you noticed was her long tail green matching her hair and ponytail as it wags like a dog. The Harpy had vibrant colors like a male even though she was a female, and she was tall! Easily towering over you as she got closer. She pouted when you stepped back again. The harpy seemed friendly but you had no idea what hybrids are capable of so it was best to mind your distance. And plus hybrids are considered protected, causing any harm to her would net you in big trouble.

So your eyes widened when she grabbed your wrist gently opening your palm to place... A cactus fruit?? Okay now you're confused... Maybe she was just trying to say hello? Her red eyes sparkle when you accept the fruit putting in your pocket. reaching into your bag you give her half of your sandwich. Something you planned on saving for later but you're okay with giving it to her. She seemed extremely happy with her gift.

You had no idea that would lead to her coming to your house everyday scratching upon the door for you to let her in sometimes, somehow she would get in your house and you have no idea how she's doing it. Sometimes you would go out and see her idly sitting on your fence kicking her feet waiting for you, before she would just give you food, occasionally brushing up against you maybe playing with your hair. Only to follow you around for until the day ends. Then you realize what that piece of fruit really meant One day she had run up to you before you could say a word her lips press against the your neck (something she had saw humans doing before so she decided to try it with her new mate)

You let her touch you, investigate the difference between her body and yours. She pinched and played with your cheeks. And then brushed her clawed fingers against your bottom lip. Rika, so why do humans like the kiss? She wanted to kiss your lips just like the humans she would always see do, but you were so skittish around her. She could never do it. But now, since you were letting her touch you... Rika kissed your lips, and you loved it. You had no idea what the make of her now.... You always thought your partner would be another human not a hybrid but. Personally you don't really mind.

She was practically living with you at this point. She came by almost every day, stayed with you all day, and begged to stay the night with you. (which you eventually caved to that, too) And she happily would cuddle you when you go to sleep till the morning.

Roadrunner!

• used to have a Scottish accent, but now she sounds more Western? Adopted Ronin's style of talking

• will literally eat anything. Will she like it? Maybe, maybe not. Will she eat it? You betcha

• demisexual / bisexual

• ooh boy she's sassy. She is ready to throw hands with anyone who dares look at her wrong. She will not hesitate. She will bite you.

• Picked up Ronin's smoking habit

• Typically wears her hair long, but might cut it short later? She'd look cute with short hair

• Preferred weapons are staff weapons, especially the yan yue dao (also called the guan dao) and the bo staff.

• Best friends are Ultra Violet (surprisingly), Nya, and maybe Morro?

• Long thin scar across back from the event that took her family (a wooden beam fell on her)

• She's 20 during The Island

History:

• In the events if Legacy of the Green Ninja, her apartment block was ransacked. Her family hid Sequoia and her little brother Gabe during the attack, but everyone else was killed

• When no one came to help them, and with Sequoia injured and Gabe getting weaker by the day from hunger, Sequoia went out in search of food. She didn't get very far before her injury overcame her and she passed out hiding in a dumpster.

• Ronin, through miracle or chance, found her, asked her where her family was, and took her back to the remains of her apartment to help care for Gabe. But Gabe had disappeared, with the only sign of his existence bring the pictures on the wall and his blood on the floor. (He had been kidnapped, but we don't know until later)

• Ronin took Sequoia under his care, raising her as best he could. He taught Sequoia to distract people while Ronin scammed them.

• When Sequoia was 13, he taught her how to drive so he had a getaway driver while Rex needed fixing. It was the best day of her life. Sequoia quickly gains the name "Roadrunner" for her skill at "running the roads", as she calls it

• At 18, she is with Ronin as a part if the Resistance. She doesn't officially meet the ninja, though, merely takes orders.

• During the events of The Island, Roadrunner is captured with Ronin, but is let go with a warning because she was raised to be a thief, and therefore isn't really responsible for her actions (Ninjago law headcanon)

• Roadrunner stays at Laughy's under the watchful eye of Dareth. She is caught sneaking out to rescue Ronin, and is sent to the Monastery in hopes that Sensei Wu can knock some sense into her. No one is very happy about this, except for maybe the police commissioner, who has had his hands full with Ronin and doesn't want to have to deal with Roadrunner as well.

Relationships:

• Ronin: Basically her dad. He taught her everything she knows. Adopted her in every way except legally. They have a very strong bond, built on trust and loyalty.

• Cole: love-hate relationship. Neither of them are sure what type of tension is between them, but fsm, there's tension.

• Lloyd: tbh, he reminds her of her little brother (at least, what she imagines he would be like at that age). Everyone was convinced that Roadrunner hated Lloyd, but she was just avoiding him to prevent stirring up bad memories.

• Nya: passive-aggressive partners in crime. That's the best way I can describe their dynamic

• Kai: they're both absolutely feral. Kai was angry about the misunderstanding that Roadrunner hated Lloyd, and would always act defensive of Lloyd, even when he didn't need to. Later, when they find Roadrunner's bother, Kai realizes that she doesn't hate Lloyd, she just misses her brother

• Zane: she thought Cole had a crush on Zane and was feeling jealous, which was confusing, because she doesn't like Cole (she does and won't admit it.) Once she actually starts talking to Zane, she realizes that he's not so bad.

• Pixal: Pixal is strongly defensive of Zane, and Roadrunner hating on Zane made her hate on Roadrunner? But then they figure out the misunderstanding and start a girlboss club with Nya

• Jay: surprisingly good friends. They help each other fix their vehicles and whatnot, and bounce ideas off each other

• Wu: he just lives there

• Gabe (little brother): he was kidnapped by the early Sons of Garmadon and taught that his sister abandoned him. He hates Roadrunner with a burning passion.

a small side-note is that in earlier seasons, particularly season 1, I noticed that a lot of the episodes tended to lean more towards horror (but like, really campy horror) than in later seasons, so this is not an exhaustive list!

🎃 x-files episodes to watch during spooky season 🎃

season 1:

1x3: Squeeze -- it's generally thought of as one of the scariest MOTW episodes, and it's one of the few episodes that actually scared me.

1x7: Ghost in the Machine -- I think this is the only X-Files episode to actually be take place on Halloween, so of course it had to go on the list!

1x8: Ice -- mainly here because it's in the same style of horror as "The Thing."

1x11: Eve -- it's just a very sinister and unexpected concept, which I loved.

(optional) 1x13: Beyond the Sea -- it's one of my all-time favorite episodes, and it definitely is spooky, but I think of it more as a Christmas episode because it takes place in December.

1x21: Tooms -- if you feel like wrapping up the storyline from "Squeeze."

season 2:

2x11: Excelsius Dei -- it's a ghost story, so naturally I had to put it on the list :)

2x14: Die Hand Die Verletzt

(optional) 2x15: Fresh Bones and 2x21: Calusari -- they don't stand out in my mind as being super memorable, but they do have the spooky Halloween/horror themes.

2x24: Our Town (also known as 'the episode that will never let me look at a piece of fried chicken the same way ever again')

season 3:

3x14: Grotesque -- to be honest, there's surprisingly few horror episodes in s3 (it's mostly sci-fi/comedy/psychological horror) but this is the one that stands out to me as being the most “spooky."

season 4:

4x2: Home -- it would be a disservice to the show not to include this episode on the list, since it was the only one to receive a content warning

4x6: Sanguinarium

4x22: Elegy -- another ghost story!

season 5:

5x5: The Post-Modern Prometheus -- it's just so campy and different and funny! yes, there are issues with consent, but there is also the slow-dancing scene :)

5x10: Chinga -- I mean, it was written by Stephen King, so it's going to be a scary horror episode (and surprisingly shippy!)

5x12: Bad Blood -- "classic vampirism," of course.

season 6:

with the exception of "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas," (which could technically go on this list, but in my mind it is too firmly cemented as a Christmas episode) s6 doesn't really have a lot of horror either. If you squint you could count 6x10: Tithonus, 6x18: Milagro, and 6x18: Field Trip, but I don't really see any of these as true horror.

season 7:

again, not too many horror episodes, but there are a few that stand out, most notably 7x4: Millennium (we have zombies!!), 7x7: Orison, and 7x14: Theef.

season 8:

8x4: Roadrunners -- such a good (and maybe underrated?) horror episode.

for season 9, I don't really have any to list (I skipped through a lot of s9 and have been meaning to go back and watch it all eventually), and the only spooky revival episode in my mind is 11x8: Familiar.
