Canucks defenceman Filip Hronek (#17) is low to the ground, skating backwards, and holds out his stick in an attempt to cut off Byfield's passing lane to Clarke. However, on the other side of the ice, Clarke has already skated past Boeser and is well forward of Hronek's stick. Byfield, having waited for Clarke to find open ice, flicks the puck past Boeser's back, who isn't fast enough turning with his stick to stop it. Clarke, now in the slot, receives the puck on his backhand. He dangles it, baiting out Demko's reaction. Demko leaps to his left, glove side, before realising the puck isn't going there.
