Wait, for real!?!?!?!👀
Yep yep! Ink has two dads, and one of them is Zephyr!Gaster or Aster. He's super adorable, you should check out his FAQ!
Ink and his other dad (Undertop!Gaster) teaches him about the Multiverse and on the other hand Aster teaches Ink to enjoy things (machinery, blueprints, astrophysics) that don't rely on his inky creation powers!
Tumblr media
Ink does some other non paint stuff too, he plays the flute for one and iirc, he is trying sewing, which is why I made my variant of him get into embroidery

The amount of ratiorine/aventio refrences they have towards a certain media (Oscar wilde's story of The Prince in Happy Town, Spellbound, Double Indemity) where one person falls in love during the course of the story instead of having already been in love from the start makes me think that it might imply Dr Ratio (or so i think) realized his feelings during the mission of Pentacony when he saw that Aventurine could not escape death this time (or rather, the odds where heavily against him, prob more so than any other mission they've gone through) but still decided to help him pull of the grand scheme because Aventurine is trusting him for the insane plan to work.

some thoughts on writing humor for anyone interested;
if you want to incorporate more humor into your writing, what you really want to practice is timing. writing humor is rarely about writing an individual funny line-- you don't remember the punchline because of the line itself, you remember the punchline because of everything else that came before it. a punchline without a proper build up or proper timing is just a non-sequitur.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so, when writing a humor fic, a good thing to remember is that the punchline comes last. you can't have your funniest line at the start of your story. think of it like action-- if your first fight is the boss fight, any fight of lower stakes or difficulty that follows is going to feel lackluster in comparison. you want your story and your jokes to build to the final line, or else you'll step on the joke and lose its impact.
and this does take practice! putting the joke at the end doesn't always feel 'natural' at first, learning how to structure and build a humor story is a skill the same as learning how to do it for any other genre. personally, i'd also say humor is something that really comes out in the editing stage more than the initial drafts-- humor is very reliant on timing and rhythm, and it's hard to find and stick to a story's pacing when you're still working on the overall story structure. i mean, this sort of thing tends to go for any sort of writing, but nothing makes humor fall flat faster than wonky pacing and so (for me at least) editing is the stage where the story goes from "oh, haha" to actually funny.
(i also bring this up because fandom has a lot of jokes about not editing a finished draft before posting-- and like, totally feel you, i'm not huge on editing after i reach the end of the draft. however, i have noticed in fic circles where people will get caught up on and sometimes even discouraged by trying to be funny in the fic larva stages when the framework to be funny just isn't there yet. personally, i highlight the humor lines i'm unsure about and move on. then, when the fic's closer to 90% done or so, it's much easier to skim the overall story and cut/format/refine/etc any jokes because they're already highlighted for easy finding.)
another thing to keep in mind is that humor as a writing device is often used to release tension. i would say this is a large part of why humor often falls very naturally into scene transitions; that natural release of tension is very useful as an 'end bracket' to a scene while also setting up the audience to be freshly wound up again. this feature is useful for stories aiming for a more light-hearted tone overall, but in general stories often incorporate humor as a way of controlling a story's pacing so that the tension doesn't get too tight too fast. even if a punchline isn't your end goal, you're still building up to something and it's really helpful to edit your humorous lines by asking "does this fit with my scene/story's pacing, or is it disruptive to my buildup?"
it doesn't really matter how funny an individual line might be on its own-- if its disruptive to the story's overall flow, the joke's effect is going to come off as strained and forced. because humor is really an exercise in structure and story rhythm, the most ineffective way to study humor is to fixate on the individual jokes you remember in your favorite stories-- instead look for the threads that came before the joke that made it memorable, and then practice doing that in your own writing. usually when humor falls flat in a story, it's because either the specific joke pops out of nowhere (missing the build-up) or the joke is in the wrong spot in the story (disruptive, breaks reader immersion). sometimes the fix is as easy as reshuffling a few lines, other times it's a matter of adding more to the build up, or even cutting it altogether so that something else packs a bigger punch.
tl;dr-- i'm repeating the old adage "in comedy, timing is everything." if you want to get better at writing or incorporating humor into your stories, it's honestly more important to practice when to drop a joke than the specific wording of the joke itself.

did I finally manage to write a brand new fic? I sure did!! with many, many thanks to the lovely @eeblouissant for inspiring me with these beautiful drawings of Blanche dipping Dorothy (and the incredibly sweet follow-up with Rose playing the piano, after our chat about this scene!!) I hope I managed to do it justice ;)
Summary
When Dorothy mentions she’s never been dipped before, Blanche and Rose decide to take matters in their own hands.

Aaand last B-Squad post for tonight <3 Just some little tidbits about the girlies. CW: There's discussion of murder, abuse (acid, cutting, psychological manipulation, and gouging eyes out), and trauma in the paragraphs below.
Boggle
Boggle was recruited by a local circus at a young age for her natural blue hair. At age 19, she survived the slaughter of her entire circus by a killer named The Clown, who gave her a Chelsea grin (aka Glasgow smile). She likes using her deadpan humor to make her friends laugh, and she's learning how to accept pain without masking it with humor. She’s incredibly acrobatic and flexible, and can fit through most openings. She’s now 26.
Butch
Butch grew up working in her family’s butcher shop. At age 20, she was one of the most skilled meat-preparers in her small home town before it was showered in radioactive acid by a mass-murderer called Radiohead. Butch was the only townsperson who survived the acid, which left her with burn scars and the ability to temporarily increase her strength, stamina, and speed. Her vocal chords were damaged and she cannot speak, so she uses ASL to communicate. She enjoys cooking meals, exercising, and taking care of her friends, and she’s learning to take care of herself and accept care, too. She’s now 30.
Bunny
Bunny worked on her aunt and uncle’s ranch as a lumberjack during college. At age 19, she went camping with her college friends and was the sole survivor of a murderous family collectively called Lancetfish. Although she didn’t suffer much physical damage, she has mental scars from the psychological manipulation Lancetfish put her and her friends through. She enjoys carving wooden gifts for her friends, and she’s learning how to trust people and allow herself to rest again. She’s a survivalist and has an excellent sense of direction and good aim (both in knife-throwing and shooting). She’s now 27.
Ballast
Ballast grew up on the coast and helped kickstart a fishing company, which was an off-shoot of a family friend’s company. At age 21, she was out on a boat working with her coworkers when a killer she calls The Stowaway, who had snuck aboard, killed her coworkers and left her blind by gouging out her eyes. She had thrown him overboard (though she isn’t sure if he truly disappeared), and managed to call for help. She likes telling stories to entertain her friends, and is learning to allow herself to enjoy activities again. Sometimes she wears fake eyes that glow. Her senses (except for sight) are sharp. Because she can’t see Butch’s ASL, she either uses her hands to feel Butch’s signs, or Bunny or Boggle translate for her. She’s now 32.

( go min si, cis woman, she/her ) PARK YEJI : the thirty year old resident that's been around the CRESCENT APARTMENTS for two months. when the infected swarmed the streets the first night, YEJI really proved how resourceful + courageous they were. however, many would argue that they can also be quite obsessive + unpredictable. five years has passed since their old life ended and the new one began, developing skills that have helped them become a MEDICAL STUDENT / NURSE within their group. it makes sense to see them thriving at the job because of their vast knowledge of drugs + glock 17.
𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙨 …
name. park yeji. nicknames. yeji, crayji (behind her back ). age. thirty. gender, pronouns. ciswoman, she / her. dob.  6th of june. pob.  jeju island, south korea. sexuality. pan romantic + sexual. role. medical / nursing student. weapon of choice.  sweet words, brainwashing:) but otherwise glock 17 with three bullets left.
𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙨 …
height. 165 cm ( 5'4 ). hair style. black, pint - straight hair. length depends on arc ! eyes. brown, appear black in certain light. tattoos. none. piercings. standard lobes, doesn’t wear them. fc. go minsi.
𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 …
mother.  hwayoung ( presumed dead ). father. unknown. siblings. only - child.
𝘣𝘪𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺 … (tw of something, not sure what, ask to tag !)
yeji was born to a single mother in jeju island, south korea. her mother has always been a mess and yeji’s birth didn’t evoke any kind of a change in character.
when she was three, they moved to busan with her mother’s new boyfriend  — a leech of a man who liked to drink and gamble and cheat, yet hwayoung’s low self - esteem made her stay & endure whatever he came up with. to be fair, they matched each other’s crazy just the right amount and became the sample of a perfect relationship for yeji.
their turbulent relationship lasted for eight years until one fateful night their apartment’s front door was kicked down by masked men who trashed & stole their things and dragged her mother’s boyfriend away. yeji had never seen him again, and later, learnt that he has been mercilessly tortured and murdered for owing a lot of money to a lot of very dangerous people.
anyway, life went on. it certainly did for yeji, always a quiet child, the observer, the outsider — never inside, always outside — she had a hard time making friends anywhere they moved to. too weird, too peculiar, too creepy — the kids said, pointing and whispering. she, hurt and angry, in turn dreamt of their demise that never came. instead bitterness nestled into her insides.
she runs away from home at 17, but is it really running away when no one’s looking for you? yet, she, finally, finds her people — a group she fits in. they’re weird and eccentric and peculiar just like her, but in a cool way, in a way that other ordinary people look up to and follow. the whole ordeal is cult-y, though no one ever says it outloud.
they teach her things she wouldn’t learn elsewhere, or so they say, about medicine and drugs and their effects on human’s body and under their orders, she sells them on the shadow market. though, she also learns other languages, like english and mandarin, which she masters in no time.
yeji returns home a day after her 26th birthday. she goes back to school, gets her high school diploma and either by sheer luck, or other powerful force, gets accepted into university majoring in nursing. her goal is to work in a nursing home -  being the one in charge, people needing her more than she needs them for once.
she’s on an internship in san francisco the day the world ends. she join a group after group, but they always crumble, always perish. then she becomes a loner, wandering and wondering if this doom is not a sign of something else, something otherworldly. yeji gets absorbed by these thoughts, delusional.
the apartment complex takes her in — perhaps for her medical skills or her words coated in honey or both — and her ‘visions’ as she likes to call them, speak to her more often.
tldr; yeji is a disturbed young woman who believes in the superiority of the zombs, thinks of them as gods, yet more and more people are starting to turn to her — because people, in every situation, need something to believe in.:)
