Eddie invites him to the towns annual fall festival. Just the two of us, he’d said on the phone yesterday.
Richie could never deny Eddie much of anything, so he immediately agreed. The idea of the two of them hanging out alone, oddly enough, makes him feel like there are butterflies in his stomach. He shrugs it off, as he’s done for the past three or four years, and he goes through the rest of his day, anxiously awaiting the next.
And that’s where he is now. With Eddie, at the festival.
Everything’s fine, so he doesn’t know why he’s freaking out so bad. Honestly, everything’s more than fine. Richie buys him an ice cream, and for once, Eddie doesn’t go on a full-blown rant about Richie spending his money on him when he’s perfectly capable of paying for himself.
Eddie doesn’t shrug his arm off when Richie throws it around his shoulders while they’re walking towards the games, either. He leans in a little closer, actually, which feels like it sends a jolt of lightning straight through every fiber of Richie’s being.
He’s just... all smiles, no rants, no freak-outs. A few insults or two, though, because that’s just how Eddie is, and Richie wouldn’t have it any other way. But... it’s weird not to see him reaching for his fake inhaler to ease his nerves, or thoroughly sanitizing his hands after he touches everything. He’s been like that all day, too. Didn’t even complain about the god awful mess in Richie’s car when he got in.
Now, as it begins to get darker outside, he’s sitting down right across from him at a picnic table, sharing a funnel cake. Their hands have brushed once or twice, and Eddie’s even wiped some powdered sugar off of the side of Richie’s mouth, and he isn’t even going to think about how red his face fucking got when that happened.
“Earth to Richie!” he hears Eddie yell.
He blinks once, twice, three times, trying to rid his mind of the thoughts that kept him so in his head, and turns and flashes a big smile in Eddie’s direction.
“What ‘s it, Spaghetti?” Richie replies, reaching for several pieces of the funnel cake and plopping all of them in his mouth at once. “‘S there anything you wanna do?” he asks in-between chewing, and Eddie visibly grimaces.
“Say it, don’t fucking spray it, dickwad. You shouldn’t talk with your mouth full.” Eddie complains, and Richie would’ve laughed if he wasn’t chewing his food. “And chew with your mouth closed! Jesus Christ, who taught you your table manners?”
After Richie swallows his food, he takes a large gulp from his Coca Cola and shrugs. “I was raised by apes, they taught me everything I know about manners, Eds.” he teases.
He gets a small laugh out of Eddie at that one, along with an eye-roll. “Very funny. And don’t call me that, Richie!” Eddie replies, reaching across the table to give Richie’s shoulder a small shove. Richie laughs, now that his mouth isn’t full, and shakes his head.
“Don’t lie, you like when I call you Eds.”
Eddie blushes? Richie thinks he is, anyways. But why the hell would Eddie be blushing?
Eddie’s voice snaps him out of it before he can dwell too much into it. “Whatever you say.” he grumbles, reaching and grabbing the last piece of their shared funnel cake. He grabs a napkin and wipes his mouth when he’s done, and he doesn’t even give Richie time to speak before he’s talking again.
“Do you want to get on the ferris wheel? It’s getting darker, so we can see all the lights better.” he speaks hurriedly, pointing over towards where the ferris wheel sits, spinning as they sit a little ways away from it. The lights are coming on, now, on all the attractions. Shades of pink and purple, red and blue, green and yellow. They’re bright, but they light up Eddie’s face in just the right way to make Richie think god, he’s beautiful.
“Sure, let’s get to it, Eduardo!” Richie replies, loudly, standing on his feet. He grabs their trash and throws it away in the nearest trashcan, and walks back over towards Eddie, who grabs his fucking hand and starts walking towards the ferris wheel.
He starts to wonder if this is even Eddie, because it dawns on him that Eddie doesn’t even like festival rides. They’re covered in bacteria and germs, dumbass, he’d usually say. But that isn’t the case this evening, apparently, because Eddie is smiling as they approach it, grabbing his tickets from his back pocket and handing two to Richie.
“You know I have my own, right?” Richie asks, but Eddie just shakes his head.
“You used at least ten tickets on that darts game until you won me that stuffed Kirby. Shut up and let me be nice to you.” Eddie retorts, and Richie does as he’s asked. He mimics zipping up his mouth, locking it and throwing the key away, which gets a small chuckle out of Eddie. He counts that as a win, so long as he sees Eddie laughing, at least.
Spoiler alert: he doesn’t shut up. He doesn’t know how.
Eventually, after bickering back in forth in line about everything they could think of, they’re finally getting on the ferris wheel, being seated and secured in before they take off and are stopped again.
Eddie turns to Richie, his hands on the handlebar, looking as content as ever. “Thank you for saying yes when I asked you out on this date. I know it was kinda stupid to ask you over the phone, but-- whatever. Thank you, asshole. I’m having a great time.”
Richie feels like his jaw has dropped.
Asked him out on what?
“You-- me-- date? What? Since when?” Richie stammers, and Eddie’s brows furrow. His face becomes redder than the top of the haunted house’s tent.
“You didn’t know this was a date?” Eddie asks, and Richie shakes his head repeatedly.
No! You didn’t say anything about a date!”
“I literally fucking said it was!”
“No, you said ‘Hey, do you want to go out with me to the festival tomorrow, just the two of us’ and that is not asking me out on a date!”
“I said ‘Do you want to go out with me to the festival tomorrow, just the two of us,’ emphasis on go out with me, and that was literally me asking you on a date, dumbass!”
Richie processes.
And processes.
And processes some more.
“Holy fucking shit, I’m on a date with you.” Richie says, blank faced. On the inside he’s screaming with absolute joy.
“Yeah, you are, dumbass. You-- forget I said anything--”
Richie interrupts him, quickly, “No, no! I’m not like-- freaked out about it or anything. I’m happy to go on a date with a cutie like you, Eds!” he says, leaning towards Eddie and pinching his cheek affectionately.
Eddie swats his hand away, blushing and grumbling, but he’s smiling nonetheless. “Do you-- fuck, do you like me, Rich? I mean, I-- I’m obviously into you.”
Richie nods, very enthusiastically, and smiles wider than he ever has when one of Eddie’s hands come off of the handlebar to grab one of his. “Absolutely, Eds, I mean-- how could I not? You’re my best friend. And, also, you’re so easy to piss off and rile up. It’s fuckin’ cute!” he says, smile never falling from his face.
“I am not easy to rile up, you dick.” Eddie argues, but his tone holds no distaste or actual anger within it.
So Richie, being Richie, shakes the passenger car they’re in as soon as the wheel takes motion again to prove a point, and Eddie screeches. “You fucking dick! Why the hell would you do that? Do you know how many deaths have happened because of people rocking these fucking things?” he yells, and Richie lets out a full belly laugh.
“Oh, it’s so fucking funny, isn’t it? Do you want to die on a ferris wheel in this shit town? Do you--”
Richie finally makes a move, and decides to shut Eddie up with a kiss.
It works.

Missed Opportunities and a Happy Ending.
I’m new to writing for these characters and I’ve only ever watched the anime. I don’t know much about the manga except for whatever is already confirmed, and floating around on here and on twitter. So if they seem OOC, I'm sorry. Also, I love Toru Oikawa with all my being. He’s my favorite from the anime. The little drama that happens between Y/N and Oikawa is just to add spice to the story, ok.
Warnings: a meddling Oikawa. Rooster head and the owl jumping on the meddling train too.
“R/C/N” Rugby Captain’s Name. (I didn’t know what name to give him.)
“Y/F/N” Your friend’s name (Friend 1/2/3)
Hajime Iwaizumi x Y/N
“Ugh,” Oikawa groaned, closing his eyes and shifting his head from side to side to relieve the tension in his neck. “We don’t have any games until next season but we still have a lot to improve.” Oikawa said as he continued walking. It was only when he didn’t get a response from his best friend that he opened his eyes. “Iwa?” He turned to look behind him.
Oikawa saw his best friend looking out towards the field. The cheerleaders were out there practicing later than usual, while the rugby team was gathering up the equipment they had used. Iwaizumi never had an interest in rugby so Oikawa knew there was one particular cheerleader he was staring at.
Oikawa smirked to himself and went to stand by his best friend. “You’ve been crushing on her for the past year and a half, when are you going to ask her out?”
“What are you talking about?” Iwaizumi muttered, walking again.
“It’s not like you’re strangers. We’ve known her since middle school. I’m sure if you ask her out, she’ll say yes.” Oikawa continued, following after him.
“It’s because I’ve known her since middle school that I don’t ask her out. I know I’m not her type.”
Oikawa laughed at that. “You’re so helpless.”
“You’re one to talk. Your girlfriend dumped you after a month.” Iwaizumi scoffed.
“And I still have no idea what I did wrong.” Oikawa sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. There was a short pause. “Listen, Iwa, I know all those years of girls using you to get to me have shattered your confidence when it comes to dating-”
“Do you want to get your ass kicked right now?” Iwaizumi practically yells.
“I was actually going to give genuine advice.” Oikawa frowns. Iwaizumi calmed down and allowed Oikawa to continue. “Y/N is not like that. She really likes you. And I can prove it.” Iwaizumi stood there as Oikawa ran towards the entrance of the field and called out her name as loud as he could.
“What are you doing?!” Iwaizumi chased after him. He stopped next to Oikawa who was still smiling and waving like an idiot at her until she noticed them. He could see her more clearly now but she was still far away. Iwaizumi saw the grin on her face when she spotted the pair and waved back. Thinking this was it to Oikawa’s plan, Iwa waved back. “Great,” he remarked sarcastically, “she waved at us. Now let's go.” He shoved him.
“Five minutes!” Y/N yelled back, while holding up her hand. Without a word, Oikawa grabbed Iwa by the back of his jacket and led him towards the bleachers.
“What the hell are you doing? This isn’t funny.” Iwaizumi still followed and sat down on the bleacher.
“It’s getting late. We can’t let her walk home alone.” Oikawa calmly explained. “Well at least I’m not going to let her.” He looked at Iwaizumi from the corner of his eye to look at his reaction. Iwaizumi’s brow furrowed. He visibly relaxed, silently agreeing with Oikawa.
If Iwa wasn’t going to take direct advice from him, then he was just going to take matters into his own hands and give him one big shove. He was going to get Y/N and Iwaizumi together, no matter what. For a price, of course.
Oikawa looked forward again, “you know,” he began, “Y/N really does look cute in that uniform. I wonder how good she’d look in one of our volleyball jerseys.”
Iwaizumi’s face flushed red. First from the thought of her in his jersey, then jealousy from Oikawa’s comment before that. “You shit head!” He yelled lunging at his friend.
“I was just kidding!” Oikawa screamed, holding his arms out to keep Iwaizumi at a distance.
“You goofballs.” Someone laughed. Iwaizumi slowly turned to look over his shoulder. There she was looking down at them with one hand on her hip and in her uniform. Oikawa was right. She did look good in that uniform. But now the image of her in his jersey was something he wanted to make a reality. “Thanks for waiting.” She smiled, ignoring the fact they were just fighting seconds ago.
“Absolutely.” Oikawa beamed, pushing the dumbfounded Iwaizumi off of him. “What kind of friends would we be if we let you walk home alone.” Oikawa walked around his best friend, throwing an arm over her shoulder and giving her his signature smile. “Cutie.” He booped her nose.
Y/N laughed at that and softly shook her head, allowing Oikawa to lead the way. Iwaizumi stood up and dusted himself off. Out of all the crazy things Oikawa’s been doing lately, this was the craziest. Oikawa was always the center of attention of the two when it came to girls. It was easy for him to get a girl to swoon over him with just a smile.
“Iwa-chan~.” He called over his shoulder, “aren’t you coming? I know it sucks being the third wheel but we can’t leave you behind either.”
“Why you little.” he growled, gripping his bag, ready to throw it right at his friend’s head.
Y/N removed Oikawa’s arm from around her shoulder, “You’re always picking on him, Toru!” She softly punched his side. Oikawa looked down at her surprised, but then laughed it off, rubbing where she had hit him. “How would you like it if we,” she grabbed Iwaizumi’s arm and pulled him closer to her, “made you feel like the third wheel?”
Iwaizumi’s eyes darted down to where her arms were wrapped around his. She was always grabbing on to him, leaning on him or touching him in any kind of way, so he was used to it. But for some reason, this particular action followed by her words made him feel all warm inside. “Let’s go.” Iwaizumi’s feet started moving as she pulled him along.
Oikawa sneakily winked at Iwaizumi when his friend walked ahead of him. “I didn’t mean it. Please come back.” Oikawa begged. By the look on his face though, he wasn’t much too worried about it. In fact, he looked like he had accomplished a difficult feat.
What the hell is he planning? Iwaizumi thought.
“Who the hell are you kidding?” Y/N looked over her shoulder at him, laughing. “Come on, dork. I don’t want to get home too late.” She stopped and waited for Oikawa to catch up and then proceeded to walk again once he did. “Practice kick your ass, too?” She sighs, resting her face on Iwaizumi’s bicep.
He looked down at her with a small smirk. “No more than usual.” Iwaizumi said and softly ruffled the top of her head.
Boy, he bounces back fast. Oikawa thought to himself.
Oikawa trekked along behind them, silently. This was his way of proving his point to Iwaizumi. The next phase of his plan was coming. He just needed to wait until the right moment.
Y/N looked up and smiled at Iwaizumi as he talked to her about whatever it was; Oikawa didn’t care much to pay attention. Maybe it was his jealousy or the joy he got from watching his friends and how good they looked together.
Iwaizumi tilted his head and smiled down at her; but not any regular smile. This one was different, and Oikawa could just tell. Unintentionally, Oikawa pouted and turned his face to the side to look away.
Jealousy. It was definitely jealousy. But this was for his best friend after all. One day of being excluded wasn’t going to kill him.
“I’ll catch you guys tomorrow.” Oikawa announces, walking in the opposite direction when they reached an intersection.
“Where are you going? The subway is this way.” Iwaizumi stopped and turned to yell at him.
Oikawa smiled to himself and proceeded to walk, “I forgot I have plans with someone.” He lied. “Bye~.” He waved at them without turning back.
“He’s such a liar.” Y/N giggled. “Better get him home before he gets lost.” She tried to hold back her yawn, but failed. Iwaizumi looked down at her. Even though she had told him to go after Toru, she was still holding on to his arm. He softly pat the top of her head and held her closer to him.
“Let’s get you home first. It’s getting late.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“How did it go? Did you finally ask her out?” Oikawa asked with a huge smile on his face when he sat down at their usual lunch table.
“You asshole. I knew you ditched us on purpose!” He reached over, gripping Oikawa’s shirt collar. Oikawa rolled his eyes and removed Iwaizumi’s grip on his school uniform. Iwaizumi took a minute to cool down before answering Oikawa’s question. “I was going to,” he admitted, “but I didn’t.”
“After I set it up for you? Are you kidding me?” Oikawa couldn’t help but be offended.
“It wasn’t my fault.” Iwaizumi argued. “That jerk from the rugby team was outside her house waiting for her.”
“So?”
“What do you mean ‘so’?” Irritation evident in his voice and face now. “He was supposed to drive her home after practice. He even had her bags.”
Oikawa dramatically sighed, “You’re missing the point, Iwa. Who cares if he was supposed to drive her home. She chose to walk home with you.”
“She didn’t have a choice. We ambushed her after practice and you lied about having other plans. She had no other choice but to walk with me.” Iwaizumi internally cringed. The way he said it, he was obviously trying to convince himself of that fact. Obviously Oikawa would notice his blatant lie.
Oikawa shook his head at his best friend in pure disappointment. Iwa rolled his eyes and continued to eat his lunch. “Scaredy cat.” Oikawa muttered under his breath. He got up from the table with his food and left. Iwazumi growled under his breath, his grip on his utensils tightening. He didn’t want to admit it, but Oikawa was right.
She had no interest in the captain of the rugby team. The entire time she spoke with him, she never let go of Iwaizumi. She politely thanked him and sent him on his way. But Iwaizumi’s fear of rejection got the better of him. Even after seeing her smile falter when all he did was say good night, he couldn’t work the courage back up.
“Maybe we can make this a daily routine.” She had said to him. “You’re really comfortable to sleep on on the subway.” She laughed. Iwaizumi’s right shoulder suddenly felt heavy as he remembered the memory.
She sat down close to him, her leg touching his. He had pulled out a book to read just to pass time, since she was so tired, and Y/N rested her head on his shoulder. At first he thought she was reading along with him. But in the reflection of the window he could see her eyes were shut. She had used his shoulder as a pillow and Iwaizumu loved the sight of it. Just her, snuggled up close to him, and resting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following two weeks Oikawa didn’t bring the subject up again. But the two of them continued to walk her home after practice. Oikawa, making up little reasons to leave them alone every now and again. And each time, Iwaizumi chickened out when he was about to ask her out.
Her arm would brush against his, or her hand against his, and she would drift closer to Iwa as they walked together, just the two of them. He wanted so badly to hold her hand or pull her in closer to him but he was too embarrassed, so he didn’t. Instead, he offered to carry her bags. If he had his hands full then he wouldn’t feel so much like an idiot (scaredy cat).
Today wasn’t supposed to be any different. They were going to meet her by the lockers and walk her home. That was the plan. Just like all the other days. But she didn’t go back to the locker room after practice. She wasn’t even on the field either.
Iwaizumi pulled out his cellphone ready to call her, when he heard her laugh coming from ahead. He looked up and saw her, sitting on a motorcycle and the captain of the rugby team standing in front of her, laughing as well.
“Well, that’s unexpected.” Oikawa said under his breath. He glanced over at Iwaizumi and noticed how he made himself look taller and balled his hands into fists. “Violence doesn't look good on you, Iwa.” he smirked. Iwaizumi didn’t respond but he did react. He took in a few calming breaths and relaxed his hands. “Y/N.” Oikawa smiled.
“Hey,” She smiled at Iwaizumi first then at Oikawa. Iwaizumi’s jealousy and anger diminished when he saw her smile. “You remember, R/C/N, right?”
R/C/N extended his hand out to greet the other boys. Iwaizumi squeezed the rugby captain’s hand, harder than he normally did when greeting someone, “What’s up, man.” R/C/N returned the smile and pulled his hand back. “We good?” He looked at Y/N.
“We’re fine.” She answered. “I’ll see you at the game tomorrow.” She told the other boy. He only nodded and watched as the trio walked away. Iwazumi’s jealousy got the best of him and he couldn’t stop himself from asking what happened while grabbing her gym bag from her. “Nothing, really. Both of our practices were cancelled.” She replied. “It was just a coincidence we were both waiting.” She walked in between them.
“Waiting?” He asked.
“He’s waiting for his girlfriend.” She replies. “And since we’ve been walking home together,” he nudged the two boys with her elbows, “I thought why not wait with him.” She shrugged.
Iwaizumi began feeling a mixture of emotions. He was happy that she had waited for them but he was still jealous that she had been waiting with R/C/N the entire time. And he was feeling a little embarrassed as well. He knows she doesn’t like R/C/N in that way and there was no need for him to almost break his hand. Although R/C/N didn’t seem to be fazed by it.
“It’s been a long day.” She stretched her arms up in the air and let out a short yawn. Iwaizumi was prepared for her to cling on to his arm to rest her head. But instead of grabbing his arm, she grabbed Oikawa’s. Oikawa looked down at her, completely shocked.
Iwaizumi was unsure how to react. Should he be mad at Oikawa even though he didn’t do anything? Did he really wait too long to ask her out and now she was into Oikawa? None of the answers to those questions satisfied Iwaizumi.
Oikawa, taking advantage of the situation, smiled and slowly reached over to pat her head. Iwaizumi caught the movement from the corner of his eye and caught his wrist mid-air to stop him. Y/N’s head turned to the side to look at Iwaizumi, Oikawa snatching his arm back before she could notice.
“Is it heavy?” She asks. Iwaizumi stared at her, confused. “My bag.” She pointed down at it. He looked down to where she was pointing and quickly realized he had unintentionally hit her with her own bag when he grabbed Oikawa’s wrist. “I kind of snapped the strap on my bookbag.” She laughed softly, as if embarrassed to admit it. “So all of my books and stuff are shoved in there with my gym clothes, too. Maybe I should just carry it. Your shoulders still probably hurt. I’m so sorry, I didn’t even think-” She reached for her gym bag but Iwaizumi stopped her.
“It’s fine. It’s not heavy at all.” He told her. “And my shoulder is fine. It was nothing.” He rolls his shoulder to prove it to her. She gave him a small, thankful smile and leaned against Oikawa again. He glanced down at her gym bag. Iwaizumi couldn’t even tell that it had gotten heavier. Then it dawned on him. Is that why she didn’t lean on him this time? With the weight of the bag and her holding on to him, was she afraid of hurting his shoulder? He didn’t even injure it, it was just sore from the new workout routine. He couldn’t believe she remembered that.
Iwaizumi smiled to himself. She didn’t lean on Oikawa because she liked him, she just didn’t want to accidentally hurt him. He gently placed his hand on the top of her head, softly ruffling her hair and she turned to look at him with a bright (albeit tired) smile.
“Do you want us to go with you tomorrow or should we just meet you there?” Oikawa asked, pulling her attention to him.
“I’ll see you over there.” She replied. “I told Y/F/N I would help her get ready.”
“What’s happening tomorrow?” Iwaizumi asked. Oikawa and Y/N stopped in their tracks. “What?” He asked, stopping as well.
“The first rugby match of the season is tomorrow.” Y/N replied, offended. “You said you were gonna go. How could you forget?”
“Seriously, Iwa. She’s been talking about it nonstop. She helped come up with the new routine that she’s so excited for us to watch.” Oikawa joined in.
“I didn’t forget.” Iwa defended himself.
Y/N looked up at Oikawa. “Drag him there if you have to.” She tells him.
“I plan to.” Oikawa smiled, mischievously.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iwaizumi and Oikawa took their seats on the bleachers. Luckily, for Oikawa he didn’t have to drag Iwa. He was ready to go and standing outside Oikawa’s place before he even called him.
Oikawa made sure they had gotten there early, so they could get the best seats. Front and center. Iwaizumi looked around. The bleachers were practically entirely empty, save for a few of the parents and some students from the photography club.
“It’s still early.” Oikawa told him. “There should be more people coming,” a mischievous smirk slowly appeared on Oikawa’s lips, “I hear most of the spectators are boys from other schools who only come to these games to watch the cheerleaders.” Iwaizumi slowly turned his head, deadly eyes staring right at Oikawa. Oikawa gulped, “Ok, Iwa-chan. No more jokes.” He waved his hands in surrender.
As time passed, Iwaizumi noticed what Oikawa had said was true. More people had shown up, mostly students and families from their school. They all sat together and the visiting school’s family and friends sat in the bleachers on the opposite side of the field.
It was definitely a bigger audience than they had at their own games. The little green monster within Iwaizumi was starting to reveal itself. All these people were going to see you perform in the cheerleading outfit he loved so much.
He groaned to himself, rubbing his face with his hands. Don’t be jealous, you idiot. He thought to himself. You don’t even have the guts to ask her out.
“Hey hey hey!” “Oika’a!”
Iwaizumi dragged his hands down his face. He should’ve seen this coming. Oikawa meddling, practically pushing him to ask Y/N out was one thing. He could handle that. But Oikawa plus Bokuto and Kuroo - he was going to explode.
Kuroo sat down on the other side of Iwaizumi. He put an arm over his shoulders and smiled smugly at him, “Hey, Hajime. Excited to watch the game?”
“Game?” Bokuto asked. “I thought we were here to-” Oikawa covered Bokuto’s mouth before he could finish that sentence.
“Not even trying to be discreet about it, huh?” Iwa looked over at Kuroo, slightly irritated. “I hope Kenma gave you an earful about how shitty you’re all being.”
“No clue what you’re talking about.” Kuroo removed his arm from Iwa and looked out towards the field. “Just here to watch a good game of rugby.”
“You don’t even want to know what Akaashi said.” Bokuto laughed and sat on the other side of Kuroo.
Oikawa avoided making eye contact with Iwaizumi. Smart idea. Iwaizumi seemed to be collected on the outside but he was practically fuming on the inside. The announcer’s voice came on the speaker as they introduced the two teams, the captains, the coaches and the start of the game.
Iwaizumi was focused on the game, allowing himself to calm down and ultimately forgetting about Oikawa, Bokuto and Kuroo. For a while.
Cheers came from one side of the bleachers and the cheerleading team came out running onto the track, waving their pom poms in the air. Y/N was the sixth in the line. She stopped right in front of Iwaizumi, where she felt she could see him the best and smiled up at him. He blushed slightly. With all the people around him, her eyes were only on him.
“Y/N!” Oikawa yelled. Suddenly, him, Kuroo, and Bokuto jumped up and lifted their shirts up to reveal their abs. On their bodies they had each written a word to make out, We love Y/N.
He’s gonna die. I’m going to kill him. Was written all over Iwaizumi’s face.
Y/N’s eyes widened and her mouth hung open, slightly. A nudge from the girl next to her and she was brought back to reality. She waved at the boys, forcing her embarrassed smile to look more genuine. She didn’t look in their direction again after that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The game was over in an instant; Aoba Johsai winning by a landslide. The four boys were waiting for Y/N by the gate. Iwaizumi was a little relieved with the fact that the three assholes haven’t tried anything after their fiasco. And now that the game was over, he wasn’t going to have to deal with any of their nonsense from here on out. At least that’s what he could’ve hoped for.
Y/N walked up to them along with three other girls, who were (kind of) hiding behind her. She was wearing casual clothes now. A sight Iwaizumi rarely saw. He could feel his heart leap in his chest. She looked beautiful.
“Hey guys.” She smiled, but it was small and it was gone in a flash. “These are my friends. F/1, F/2 and F/3. This is Hajime, Toru, Kuroo, and Kotaro.” She pointed at each of the boys when she introduced them. The girls blushed when they shyly greeted the boys.
“Y/N,” Bokuto smiled, “That routine was great.” He complimented.
“You really killed it out there.” Kuroo added. “You all did.” He smiled at Y/N’s friends.
“I’m surprised she was able to concentrate after what you did.” F/1 laughed. “If I had my own fans like all of you I most likely would’ve botched.”
“Seriously, Y/N. You’re so lucky you have the hottest guys in the prefecture cheering you on.” F/3 added with a wink.
Y/N scratched the back of her head, politely smiling. “Yeah.. lucky me.” She replied. But to Iwaizumi it was obvious she did not feel that way. “Anyway, should we get going? I’m starving.” Y/N’s friends followed after the three boys and Y/N stayed behind to walk alongside Iwaizumi.
There was something off about her. She kept her gaze down and she was holding her hands in front of her. She even maintained the space between her and Iwaizumi. He could tell something was wrong. “Do you want to go somewhere else? To eat?” She didn’t even look at him when she asked.
Iwa didn’t fully process the reason for her question, before saying, “No. It’s ok. I’m not that hungry.”
Y/N mouthed a small ‘oh’.
They continued walking behind the others in silence for a while. “I’m glad they were able to join us last minute,” she said about her friends. “I didn’t know Kuroo and Kotaro were coming.”
“It was a shock to me, too.” Iwaizumi grumbled. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, anger rising inside him again.
Oikawa looked over his shoulder and Iwaizumi could swear he had just glared at him. Oikawa stopped walking and turned around while the others kept walking on ahead. When Iwaizumi and Y/N were close enough, Oikawa smiled. “You’re not mad at us, are you, Y/N?” He lowered himself so he could be eye level with her. She slowly lifted her head, glaring at him.
Y/N had no words. She only slapped Oikawa across the face. Even though she was angry at him, she couldn’t bring herself to slap him full force. But she made sure it hurt. “You idiot. That was so embarrassing!”
He stepped back, his smile now gone, unexpecting that kind of reaction from her. Iwaizumi looked on as well. She was biting her lip and fighting hard to keep herself from crying. Too dumb to realize why it was embarrassing, Y/N reached into her gym bag, grabbing a fistful of folded up and crumpled paper along with other things and slapped them onto Oikawa’s hand. “Most of these were given to me in person. Some of them were sent to be given to me.”
Oikawa looked at the notes in his hands. Iwaizumi grabbed a few and looked at them as well. They had phone numbers along with names written on them. Some even added notes, like ‘call me’, ‘you’re hot’, and ‘let’s have a good time.’
“I’m going home.” Y/N’s words made him look at her. She wasn’t staring at either of them. “I’ll see you guys later.” She walked around Oikawa.
Oikawa wanted to go after her and apologize. He didn’t mean for that to happen, he just wanted Iwaizumi to grow his balls back. When he turned, Iwaizumi grabbed the back of his shirt and yanked him back to stop him.
“You’ve done enough.” He told him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iwaizumi couldn’t go to sleep without knowing if she was going to be ok or not. After teaching Oikawa a lesson, he made his way to her house. He had texted her to make sure it was alright and she told him to let himself in.
He opened her bedroom door to find her lying down, wrapped in her blanket like a burrito. He stripped himself of his jacket and sat down behind her. He wanted to come make sure she was ok but he couldn’t even open his mouth to ask.
“I’m such an asshole!” She broke the silence, startling Iwaizumi. He took a second to process her words.
“Huh?!” He rolled her so she was facing him. “Why are you an asshole?!” She didn’t do anything wrong, at least not that he’s seen.
“I slapped Toru really hard.” She pouted. He looked at her in disbelief. Was she really upset because she slapped Oikawa and not because of what he did? “I didn’t mean it.” She continued. “It’s not like it was his fault. He didn’t know. This is all my fault,” she turned away from Iwa, “I should’ve just kept my mouth shut.”
“Hold on,” Iwaizumi pulled her to turn her his way again, “Toru got what he deserved. And what do you mean it’s your fault? Kept your mouth shut about what?”
Y/N unraveled herself out of the blanket and sat up. “If I tell you, will you promise not to laugh? Or think I’m weird or anything crazy like that?” Iwaizumi nodded.
“Ok, well,” she looked down at her hands, nervously, “there was this guy on the team. He kept asking me out and I turned him down each time but he just wasn’t getting the picture. Just to get him off my back, R/C/N agreed to drive me home after practice that day and just pretend to like me or whatever. This was before him and his girlfriend were official. But then you and Toru showed up and walked me home and then R/C/N showed up at my house the same night and he thought it would be a better idea if he were to just tell the other guy that he saw you walking me home and it’s better for him to just back off and leave me alone, right? So he really believed we were dating, and then that news spread and a lot of the other students believed it too. And I don’t know, I just really loved the fact that everyone believed that you were my boyfriend and I didn’t want them to think otherwise so I didn’t say anything. But then those idiots went off and pulled off that stunt and everyone thought you broke up with me and I was just trying to make you jealous. Rebound..y’know.”
She had spat everything out so fast, Iwaizumi was still hearing her words long after she had stopped talking.
“And I just really loved the fact everyone believed you were my boyfriend.” She really loved that? He was so scared of getting rejected and this whole time she accepted him as a boyfriend. A pretend one, but still.
She was staring at him. Waiting for his reaction. Waiting for his words. Waiting for something but he remained still and quiet. Taking that as a bad sign, Y/N’s face had gone from nervous to full blown mortified.
“Oh my Gosh! That was so stupid of me.” She brought her hands up to cover her face, shying away from Iwaizumi. “I would understand if you don’t want anything to do with me anymore. It was stupid of me to do that.” She said into her hands.
“Are you serious?” Iwaizumi grabbed her wrists, bringing her hands down from her face. She closed her eyes and turned away from him. “I was too scared to ask you out and this whole time we’ve been dating?” Y/N whipped her head to stare at him. He wasn’t mad, he wasn’t looking at her like she was crazy, he wasn’t even embarrassed either. He was looking at her with wide eyes, like he was surprised. “Will you take me back?”
Y/N tilted her in confusion, but she couldn’t hold back her sudden laughter. Iwaizumi laughed along with her. He couldn’t tell if it was a joyous laughter or one of relief but he was just happy that he was able to make her feel better and confess to her at the same time.
“I was expecting something more extravagant but, yeah, I guess i’ll take you back.” Her laughter slowly dying down.
“I’m serious. I want to do this right.”
“Hajime,” she sighs, gently pulling him to lay down with her and wrapped her arms around one of his. “You could paint it all over my face and my answer would still be yes.” A short pause. “I’m not saying you can do it.” She warned him.
“Don’t tell Oikawa just yet.” Y/N looked up at Iwaizumi for further explanation. “Assholes gotta learn his lesson. He can’t embarrass my girl like that and get away with it. Not yet.”
“Hajime,” she said sternly, lifting herself up to sit up to look down at him. Iwaizumi had his eyes closed and pulled her down gently to lay down again. “What did you do?” She returned to her previous position.
“Nothing too bad.” He ruffled the top of your head. “Just that I wasn’t going to talk to him until he made up with you.” He smirked.
“Hajime Iwaizumi!” She shot up and softly pushed against his chest. He sat up laughing. “That is so mean. He’s probably going through it right now.” She reached over Iwaizumi, for her phone that was on the bedside table behind him. Iwaizumi wrapped his arms around her abdomen and pulled her back and placed her under him.
“What are you doing?” She tried to push him away but he didn’t move.
“Just a couple of days.” he tells her. “He’ll be fine.” He flopped back on to his side of the bed and opened his arms, “you’ve slept on my arm and my shoulder so far.. But right here is more comfortable.”
Y/N grabbed the blanket pulling it over them as she laid down on Iwaizumi’s chest, snuggling up to him, frowning the whole time. “It is.” She gave in. Iwaizumi wrapped his arms around her, plating a soft kiss on the top of her head.

My problems with S3
Salty rant in no particular order below the cut
What the HELL happened to the Byers? They went from being the emotional heart of the show to literally having one brief scene together in ep1 and then Will and Joyce had a hug by the end of ep8, which btw Jonathan DIDN’T EVEN JOIN IN ON??? He was literally in the background in that scene, are you trying to tell me my boy Jonathan Byers would not come out to hug his family after all that shit they just went through???? Jonathan and Will spent like what, four episodes standing next to each other and they barely even exchanged a single line?? Not a comforting touch, a hug, anything??
The Byers’ financial situation and how that could’ve given them some interaction, weight to Joyce’s desire to move and also the Byers talking about that AT ALL was lying right there for the taking. Joyce and Jonathan both had obvious concerns about losing their jobs
Joyce got to spend time doing something else than worrying about Will this season which was nice (instead running after manchild Hopper, great), but where are the repercussions of that? With the growing up theme I was hoping for Joyce to start to look into herself, about letting go and who she is when she’s not a mom
Jonathan was once again reduced to being Nancy’s sidekick, spending most of his time following her around and standing next to her while she drove the plot forward with a vengeance. He spent most of his time in the beginning being an abrasive grump and his pov was barely there with the lack of Byers fam content, which made his argument seem as weak as it did in s2. His scenes with Nancy hit the ground running, were rushed and few and far between. As soon as Jonathan was not by Nancy’s side he disappeared entirely from the plot until she called on him again. He didn’t have one single scene without her
Nancy Wheeler would never, ever stoop so low as to mock Jonathan for a) his socioeconomic position and b) his trauma with his dad. A super ooc low blow. Nancy can obviously be ignorant about how economical strife affects others, but actively mocking him??? This is not the Nancy that approached Jonathan “the freak” in s1 and expressed her concerns despite the entire school side-eyeing her. At least Jonathan got to sass back at her later
Where was Nancy’s backstory that was hinted at before the season? Was hoping for her to get some development OUTSIDE of her rallying to save the world 24/7
Will starts out the season having a semblance of an interesting, very relatable arc (abandonment issues, afraid of growing up, done with The Straights) that then goes nowhere in lieu of The Plot and Will just... doesn’t have a lot of beef with the MF. This thing and the other monsters of the UD fucked him for life, let him have something badass to do like I dunno, give him powers you cowards, let him fight the MF you cowards
Also let Will talk to his family about his issues, or have it be a point that Jonathan is now busy with Nancy and how he misses him. Jonathan being somewhat conflicted about spending all this time outside his family and the potential guilt and effect that has on him. Will destroyed Castle Byers that he and Jonathan built together, where the hell were my brotherly feels???
There was a lot of talk about “new pairings” with the characters, but everything felt very same-y. Jopper goes off on their own, jancy does the same thing, El and Mike have a ton of screentime devoted to just them, Steve and Dustin amped up their bromance to eleven, etc. Even when characters that usually aren’t grouped together were in the same scenes, they barely got anything to say or do (Lucas being said to “become closer with Jancy” was a flat out lie or referred to literally physically standing next to them). Where was Nancy and Joyce solidarity, El and Will siblings, Mike and Nancy bonding over their family falling apart, Jonathan and literally anyone but Nancy?
Villain focus completely shifted from the US government to the spoopy, evil Russians with their spoopy language. Stereotypical, tacky and bland af. Being American is Great and in no way problematic! Go patriotism/capitalism!
The abundance of action and cgi. Omg all of the action sequences. It felt like 70% of the season was spent on El throwing shit around with her powers and Hopper fighting Russian dudes. I remember being halfway through the season and thinking they really should’ve slowed down the plot. But that’s an issue with too little time for too many characters. I had no time to bond with any of the characters I liked since the plots were So Big and So Many that they ate up every opportunity for emotional intimacy and reflection. We had time for a goddamn ad for coke but not for the Byers to interact like once???
Also the whole infection/MF working in the shadows thing? Completely wasted potential. It was set up to induce paranoia in the characters and the MF tricking, playing with and torturing them, people not knowing who to trust which could’ve lead to some really compelling scenes. Nope, it’s just a big meaty version of the MF and now it’s running around town trying to fuck El up while nobody conveniently notices and tons of people died but who cares
Robin was shoehorned into the plot and magically had all the skills it took to figure out the code, could decipher Russian with no previous knowledge (the languages she listed as knowing are not at all related to Russian and why tf does she know so many languages??). At least she slapped Stobin in the face and gave us some actual LGBT rep since the doofuses are hellbent on beating around the bush with Will infinitely
Erica was 100% SASS and nothing else. It got old really quick
The entire plotline with Steve/Dustin/Erica/Robin took up about 60% of screentime with memes and sassy jokes and provided about 5% of relevance in the grand scheme of the plot. Everything they found out in the Russian facility could’ve been relayed by the Russian guy Jopper kidnapped
Which btw, why did a random Russian dude take up that much screentime? He had way more emotional development than 80% of the core cast. Also did we need that much Murray?
Speaking of, I did not need Murray doing his creepy, invasive psycho analysis thing on Jopper like he did Jancy last season. It was terrible and lazy writing then and it’s terrible and lazy now
Steve complaining about popularity “not being that great really” made me want to punch him in the face even more than usual. Nobody gives two shits about a rich white boy who got everything he pointed at, all the popularity and more girls than he could count at school while stomping on the outcasts
Also didn’t need that jab at Nancy in his heartfelt scene with Robin (which was funny bc Robin has a lot of similar traits to Nancy)
Karen and Billy was gross, but at least Karen stopped herself to go back to her unfulfilling but legally sound marriage. No need to rock that boat unnecessarily! A completely mediocre man is just fine for her I guess. At least she got a kickass scene with Nancy
Why in the fucking world did Billy get as much screentime as he did. Why on earth did this asshat, racist abuser get some bs sob story about his awful childhood when we have 47 other, way more sympathetic and interesting characters that could’ve been explored instead. And then he did some stupid “grand heroic sacrifice”. I cried more when the Russian dude died
Max was a victim of Billy’s abuse for years which was completely undermined by her ooc constant concern for him and overblown grief at his death
El being oh so concerned about Billy when she knew he was the asshole who had abused his friends Max and Lucas (and beat up Steve) before felt really insincere
Hopper was a huge, loud, violent jerk this season and I’m not having it. I felt sorry for Joyce having to put up with him and then he presumably died heroically (??? he’s obviously still alive guys) and I...didn’t really care? Was kind of on the Jopper train but have no hopes for it now. Where was their supposed “history” together that was hinted at before the season? It just felt like Hopper constantly acting like a huge, controlling manchild and Joyce having to pep/comfort/discipline him. No sense of back and forth support
What the fuck was that music number with Dustin and Suzie?? Omg cringe. I could feel how the characters all died inside
On the subject of music, they stole Jancy’s theme song and gave it to Steve and Robin and then Mileven. Mileven also stole Jancy’s “I love you”, which was clearly hinted from the name of the song on the soundtrack titled “The first I love you”, which is literally a rehash of their theme “The first lie” in s2. A huge slap in the face to end the season with
#st3 spoilers#stranger things#stranger things 3#I am a salty bitch rn :))))))#this is only my initial problems#I'm sure I'll think of more

BNHA x Witch!Reader: Quirk Flu
Okay! Just bear with me, this is still part of my BNHA x Witch!Reader series but this is based off the godawful cold I’ve had all week lol... and now Reader-chan must help her fellow classmates (and Shinsou lets just say that he was allowed to get into Class 1-A cuz he deserves to be in there!) ! Chapters will be split into some of the characters such as Shinsou, Izuku, Bakugou,Todoroki, etc.
PLZ forgive me for any OOC-ness I’m terrible about that!!
Summary:
A nasty strain of flu known as ‘Quirk Flu’ breaks out and creates an outbreak at UA (causing the school to close temporarily) and because Reader-chan is immune with her witch heritage and lack of a quirk, she has to take care of her sick classmates, and her two favorite teachers, with the help of a less than helpful Madison who does more of a half-ass job at taking care of the others.
Notes:
(F/D): Favorite drink
(Y/N): Your Name
(L/N): Last name
Prologue: Outbreak
“Ahhh…” You took a deep breath of air after having a nice drink of your (F/D) as you let the pleasantry of morning caress you. However, because of the recent news, you had a little something special in your drink…
10 Minutes Ago
“Wintertime is officially here, but don’t let the snow distract you, because flu season is still present and has increased dramatically throughout Japan, to prevent contracting flu, doctors have urged citizens to be wary of what they have touched and recommended wearing face masks when going outside.” The news quickly caught your ear as you watched the small TV you had hooked up in your dorm.
“Flu…?” You asked yourself nervously in your dorm-room, and you cringed just thinking about it, there was NO way you were going to let yourself catch the flue, the last time you were sick you swore you had a near-death experience because of how terrible it was!
Your horrible memories of being sick however were thankfully interrupted when Madison suddenly opened your door and invited herself in. “Yup, but there’s no way I’m catching that shit. Especially not with the amount of losers and lame-ass teachers that live and teach at this shithole. It’ll spread like the plague.” She quickly stated, having heard the news and what you said.
By some miracle, Cordelia managed to influence Nezu and the rest of the staff of UA to allow Madison to stay and watch over you during your time to protect you and to an extent, your classmates, but at this point you knew that they instantly regretted that decision. Your classmates sure didn’t enjoy her…. not even the ever-so-sweet Midoriya, Kirishima or Uraraka liked her… she was just too mean for their liking… well Kaminari appreciated her beauty at least, but he wasn’t fond of her attitude…
And they each knew Bakugou. Who was no prize either. The difference between them being that Bakugou at least wanted to prove himself to be a hero and wasn’t one to be cruel just for the sake of being cruel, Madison on the other hand… abused her powers for her own pleasure and did bad things just for the sake of being bad. Bakugou was difficult, but Madison was horrible. You were her only friend and even YOU liked Bakugou more than her, and pissing him off became one of your hobbies, and at times you were pretty sure he couldn’t stand you.
Come to think of it… the only person who liked Madison at all was that douche Monoma from Class 1-B…
“Madison… you can’t just barge into my room unannounced and… oh who am I kidding why am I even asking…?” Shaking your head you sighed, you knew better by now, Madison never did anything anyone said, not even the people who somehow managed to become her friend. However… deep down, way, way, WAAAAY deep down, you knew she wasn’t completely, totally and one-hundred percent horrible… pretty close, but not to the core… for the most part.
“I’m with you on that I don’t wanna catch no fucking flu but how are we supposed to do that? There’s nasty shit everywhere… the air we’re breathing right now could have some nasty germy shit right now and thereby infecting us, and it’s gonna make us all gross and infectious and sick and boogery…” You rambled a little bit as Madison just grabbed one of the spellbooks in your bookshelf.
“Yeah bitch I know, the flu is bad. Trust me, I’ve seen a bunch of people get it back when I did HR bullshit at hospitals for publicity photos and charity, totally freaked my shit out…” She shuddered at the memories in disgust, and you shook your head again at how awful she could be…
“No wonder the others like Bakugou more than you…” You muttered in disapproval as she began flipping the book and she scoffed. “Please. Like I give a shit what these little newbs think of me.” She claimed, but you knew that it wasn’t just a claim, it was pretty true… Madison never cared about what other people thought of her, and she really didn’t care about what Hitoshi and your new friends thought of her. Except for this mystery guy she was dating... you were sure it was that one villain in the League of Villains… Dabi… that was his name.
However, once she finally found a page that was said to be for a ‘Disease immunity’ potion, you were quick to start reading it with her. Once you saw the list of ingredients, you discreetly snuck downstairs to take some items and food from the kitchen that the spell had required as you saw Mina chatting away with Yaoyorozu and Jirou, along with Hagakure, Tsuyu and Ochako, and the guys Kirishima, Kaminari and Sero were busy laughing about something.
Good… they were just being normal and didn’t recognize you for once.
Quickly, you ran back to your dorm and shut the door, locking it so no one came in. They were used to you casting spells and making potions, but since it was a witch thing this was still something you preferred doing behind closed doors unless one of them wanted to watch for themselves.
“Good, now I’ve got the rest…” Madison said, having a few other ingredients from her own bag. Both of you always kept unconventional items with you for spellcraft and potion-making, and some of the things you needed from the kitchen were thankfully there. Including orange juice, garlic and a ladle.
You got a small cauldron and began by pouring water first into it, and it miraculously began boiling with Madison’s incredible energy and expertise in pyrokinesis allowing her to control the temperature of the water. Sometimes you forgot how powerful she was because of her attitude…
“Okay…” She put the book down with the Latin words as you set up the candles and both sat across from the boiling cauldron, and the Hollywood star brought her palm out above the steaming water.
“Praesidio nobis ex malus viribus. Praesidio nobis. Praesidio Nobis! Praesidio Nobis!!” The two of you began to chant the incantation together in unison, gradually raising your voices to call upon the power from light as the water bubbled even more and became frothy. The smell giving you an indication that it was working as Madison threw in a couple of strange but brightly colored green leaves into the potion, quickly you gave her a questioning look.
“Vanilla. Right from the orchids to make it easy to go down.” She briefly explained as you grabbed the ladle you took to start stirring it, and you were relieved that the vanilla already kicked in and made the potion smell actually pretty sweet. After about 5 minutes of stirring, you stopped and the potion was still quite hot but not boiling as Madison grabbed two glass vials and used the ladle to pour some of the potion into both of them.
“Here. Drink it with a drink and it should protect us from catching any bad shit, that’s if it works, but I’m sure it did, I mean I did nothing wrong, but I’m sure you probably did.” She gave you the vial and you rolled your eyes, “Tch I don’t make mistakes…” That was a total lie, but you weren’t going to admit it if you DID somehow mess up that potion. But instead of arguing, you got some of your (F/D) and were getting ready to pour the potion in, until you remembered something and quickly set it down and got up from where you were sitting.
“Wait! I need to give some of this to Hitoshi…” You were about to exit but Madison used her telekinesis to make you stop dead in your tracks, making you grunt and gasp lightly as you were trapped in her force and then she made you turn back around through mind control.
“No way, there won’t be enough for you if you share with anyone else. This is for us. Witches look out for witches only.” She stated, and as oddly kind that was of her, it made you feel a little bit selfish since you and her were the only witches here. It just didn’t entirely feel right to you. Yes witches looked out for other witches and you would literally kill for one of your dear sisters and to protect your beloved coven, but dammit you really came to like, no… you really came to love your classmates and teachers here at UA. Witches or not, you loved them. Even Bakugou.
And you loved Hitoshi the most. You didn’t wanna play favorites but he was your best friend first… if not more than that…
“Madison as much as I love flaunting my good health to people and laughing when they sneeze funny, it wouldn’t feel right if Hitoshi got sick too… or Izuku… or Denki, or Kirishima, or Ochako, or Tsuyu… or Todoroki or even Bakugou, those poor things… I think I’d actually hate if they got sick and I did nothing to stop it…” You mumbled as you thought about your closest friends, and hated how Madison managed to make you feel so meek compared to your friends, who got the full brunt of your lively, smart-ass attitude.
However, her smirk startled you a little bit. “Oh come on, think of this way (Y/N). If Purple-head gets sick, who’s gonna have to take care of him? You. Nothing’s better than having someone depend on you for living and you having the power to decide if you want them to get better or suffer. But the rest of them can blow their own noses and wipe off their own vomit.” Madison explained, which SORT of convinced you, but not that last part…
“You are… something else…” You sighed, feeling reluctant and horrible as you went back to your bed…
“Sorry Hitoshi… sorry… guys…” You quietly apologized as Madison was quick to pour some of her potion into her water and she took a drink.
RIGHT NOW
You couldn’t lie. You felt pretty good and confident now that you took the potion. No stupid flu was going to infect you today or any other day! And you just kept telling yourself that so you didn’t let the guilt of not giving your friends the same kind of immunity eat you up inside.
“All righty… time to get ready and eat some breakfast before having to go through another dumb day of listening to Aizawa’s dumb lectures…” You grumbled slightly as you put the orange juice back in the refrigerator and left the kitchen. You were positive you were going to be disease-free most of the time, it didn’t mean you wanted to go to class and actually like… pay attention. The man was your favorite teacher but good God the lectures bored you sometimes… and his assignments… ugh…
“How do you think I feel? I have to actually shadow that old dick. Not like he can teach me anything… I’m stronger than him.” Madison rolled her eyes as she followed you out, and began to light one of her cigarettes.
“And he can’t express just how happy he is to have you here…” You snarked with a bit of a smirk. Aizawa wasn’t the type who cared much about things and he often pretended that he didn’t care much about people and was always discreet about the people he cared about and disliked, but if there’s one person he absolutely hated, it was Madison. Madison definitely replaced Fiona as the woman he hated the most. Not just because of her overall bitchy attitude, but she represented all the things he hated about fame and entitlement. And on top of that, he was sick of her cigarettes stinking up his classroom. How he let Cordelia convince him that having Madison shadow him to protect you and the rest of his students was a good idea, he’ll never know.
“He should be. Least he can see what a real woman’s ass looks like.” She smirked and you rolled your eyes with a chuckle. “Wow…” She was so amusing, you were almost glad she stood here with you.
As you both walked, Bakugou was coming your way, and the first thing he made sure to do was glare at you as he often did. Naturally you didn’t fear him, but today the glare was a little off… “Good morning Lord Explosion Bit- whoooooa…” You paused as you took his appearance in, the guy actually looked kind of tired and groggy, which was odd because Bakugou always had energy to the point where you thought of him as almost hyperactive given his temper and drive.
However, he growled at the way you were looking at him. “What the hell are you staring at Witch Bitch?” He asked you harshly, his normally rough voice just a bit scratchier than normal as he glowered at you. Yeah, he was always pissy but he looked and sounded extra pissy to the point where you were mildly concerned.
“You look kinda out of it…” You got a little bit closer to him, seeing what appeared to be faint shadows under his eyes, but he backed away and shoved you away from him. “Don’t get so fucking close idiot! I’m fine! I just woke up what do you expect?” He narrowed his eyes at you, and you just gave him an annoyed look.
Typical Bakugou, never appreciating anyone’s concern for him.
“You don’t look fine asshole, or at least, you look worse than normal. Which is a miracle, you always look terrible.” Madison quickly retorted, crossing her arms and smirking. Obviously that was a lie, since Madison did think Bakugou was an attractive teenager but she hated his attitude and thought of him as just a boy with a fragile ego that needed constant coddling. Needless to say, Bakugou returned the hatred as her insult immediately sent him into a rage.
“What did you say Hollywood Bitch?!” He got ready to get up in her face with one palm sparkling, but since you weren’t in the mood for bullshit, you used your telekinesis to restrain him from attacking the other witch, and he angrily snarled at you for doing that. He HATED it whenever you used your powers on him. “Okay, okay cut it out you mooks… forget I asked… he’s fine, a picture of health, right Bakugou?” You deadpanned and shrugged your shoulders and let him go, but he still looked annoyed with you as he ignored a smiling Kirishima coming your way and giving the three of you a wave. “Morning Bakugou, (L/N), Madison.”
“Mornin’ to you Kiri.” You happily waved, but Madision didn’t uncross her arms nor did she return the politeness as she just stared at him indifferently. Bakugou at least gave him an annoyed look of acknowledgement, that quickly contorted into something you couldn’t identify. The explosive teen’s breathing started to hitch but it concerned you and Kirishima. Madison however… looked concerned for a different reason and she was quick to walk backwards, and contrarily Kirishima moved a little closer to his friend.
“Whoa, hey… Bakugou, are you all right you don’t look so-” Before he could even finish his sentence, Bakugou’s eyes shut as he suddenly let out a very loud and uncovered sneeze that sprayed onto you and Kirishima as the two of you quickly covered your faces with your arms. Though the disgusting wetness you both felt on your arms was enough for you to realize that this son of a bitch just got you all boogery…
“Ewww…” Madison backed away even further and proceeded to just walk away from the three of you, nope, forget it, she wasn’t going to be around a sick person again… she couldn’t and wasn’t doing it!
“OHHHH SICK!!” You exclaimed, whining in disgust as you wiped the spit off your arm in vain with your tie.
“Eww dude… maybe cover your mouth the next time you do that?” Kirishima was so sweet, trying to awkwardly smile that off as he wiped off the spit that got on him, as if Bakugou’s gross sneeze didn’t bother him.
“Shut up you idiots! It wasn’t that bad!” If you didn’t know any better, you’d say he was a little bit embarrassed, but he was making sure he didn’t show it.
“Yes it was! That warrants a ‘sorry’! You got my fucking arm all boogery!” You were much less understanding and didn’t hesitate to yell at him the same way he was yelling at you. Any other classmate in the vicinity audibly sighed or looked on in amusement. The two loudest students of 1-A were at it again as Kirishima acted fast and held back the explosive barbarian who was shouting profanities at you and you just snickered until the red-head eventually got the former to calm down somewhat… emphasis on somewhat.
“Fine… I guess you can’t help being gross… well I gotta go find Hitoshi... I’ll see you guys in class… see you Kiri~. And you too Bakugou.” You smiled sweetly at your red-headed classmate but you weren’t as friendly with Bakugou as you waved to the two of them. “Right! See ya (L/N)!” Kirishima grinned as he waved you off, but Bakugou just growled at you in response before storming off in your opposite direction, trying to stifle a sudden coughing fit. “W-Wait for me!” Kirishima called for him as he quickly followed him… or at least as quickly as he could when he got almost a little bit dizzy. “Whoa…” He made sure to steady himself as he walked, but paused in his steps when he felt the tell-tale signal of a sneeze coming on.
“H-H... Heeeh...” His breath began hitching as he walked a little bit slower, even when he saw Kaminari coming over to greet him and Bakugou, smiling wide as he often did, “Mornin’ guys!” He cheerfully greeted them, happily oblivious to Bakugou’s foul mood and Kirishima’s issue as the sneeze finally made it’s presence known with a loud “Hehcchhhhiuuuu!!” with the poor teen trying hard to make sure it got in his elbow, remnants of spittle had managed to fly and get onto his friend ahead of him.
“Ewww… come on man really?” Kaminari shamelessly groaned in disgust, though Bakugou was much more openly disgusted, “What happened to ‘cover your mouth’ dumb-hair?” He asked abrasively, glowering at him and backing away, much to his classmate’s embarrassment.
However, instead of arguing Kirishima nervously tried to laugh it off, “M-My bad, but you know in your defense it can’t be helped sometimes…” He scratched the back of his head, earning a grumble and a scoff from the louder boy as he made his way off without him, but as always, Kirishima followed him, despite the fact that he was starting to feel rather tired…
“Wait up guys!” Once they left, Kaminari saw no other option other than to follow them but he paused for a moment when he was starting to feel a little bit dizzy himself…
“Ugh…” He let out a low groan when a wave of fatigue suddenly slapped him in the face as he slowly diverted from the path Bakugou and Kirishima took and stumbled to the kitchen and quickly grabbed the same carton of orange juice you had used, hoping that it would perk him back up. Not bothering with his usual manners in his sleepy state, he opened it and drank straight from the mouth of the carton and set it aside once he was done, and gave another groan when it didn’t do anything to give him any sort of energy as he stumbled back to find Bakugou and the rest of their squad.
Meanwhile…
Madison had left you yet again, but thankfully you ran over to the one person you WANTED to be around.
“Good morning Hitoshi~.” You cheerfully greeted your sleepy-looking best friend, and gave him one of your ‘morning hugs’, which never ceased to annoy him a little bit.
“So clingy, even in the mornings hm?” He asked you somewhat teasingly, even though he adored your hugs and never found you clingy given your history together.
“Hey I just got back here, I need to make up for lost time and spend more time with you, even if we are in school.” You defended and giggled a bit, and his small smile indicated that he was happy with that. “I see Madison isn’t around you for once… can’t lie I’m very happy about that…” Hitoshi REALLY didn’t like Madison because of the way she stuck by you, but more like a parasite than a friend. She was bitchy and rude, even to you, and he absolutely hated that and he hated that she was pretty much the WORST third wheel imaginable, always butting into yours’ and his time together.
However, hearing that made you laugh your ass off… in fact, you were laughing so hard Hitoshi had to stifle any chuckles or snickers that wanted to leave him. “Y-Yeah uh… she ditched me again, and… you know I’m actually pretty happy about that too…” You giggled and admitted, his smile growing a little bit more as you stood beside him while the two of you walked to the common room. “Just means I get to actually be with you without her making some bitchy comment.” Now that made him chuckle. He couldn’t agree with you more there, since Madison made it her job to be your’s and Hitoshi’s WORST third wheel.
“(Y/N)! Shinsou! Good morning!” Uraraka’s high, bubbly voice was music to your ears as you waved to her, “Morning Uraraka!”
And there was Izuku and Todoroki too! “Hey Greenie! Toto! My bros~! Good morning to you guys too!” You grinned and waved at your two other guy-friends, Izuku being the first to smile and wave to you, blushing a little bit as he shyly greeted. “A-Ah G-Good morning (Y/N).”
“Good morning.” Todoroki said, but politely and even gave you a little smile. After the eventful semester you have all had so far, you could say that you and Todoroki had managed to get on good terms with each other. Which kind of annoyed Hitoshi, in fact… it also annoyed him with how you were on good terms with Izuku, Kaminari, Kirishima and even Tokoyami…
But since he was on good-ish terms with Midoriya, he somewhat partook in the conversation you were currently having with him and the cheerful Uraraka. Of course, he and Todoroki spoke the less as you happily chatted away. Neither one of you noticing Iida walking into the kitchen.
And once he got inside, he nearly flinched when he saw something quite irksome. A perfectly good orange juice carton just left out not put back into the refrigerator where it belonged…
As to figure out this mystery, he took the carton of juice and walked outside of the kitchen with it in his hands. “Classmates! Who left this perfectly good carton of juice out instead of putting it back in the refrigerator?!” He asked everyone in close proximity, only seeing Izuku, Ochako, Todoroki, Shinsou and you, even though he knew neither you or any of them would be so careless to do something like that. It didn’t hurt to ask.
“Not me.” You quickly replied, and Todoroki and Shinsou also shook their heads in reply. “Hm? Oh no it wasn’t me.” Ochako then said, followed by Izuku. “N-No, I wasn’t even in the kitchen.”
That checked out, and the bespectacled teen gave a sigh when no one else was around to give him an answer. “Very well then, it couldn’t have been either of you, but I will have to be sterner about this to the others.” He muttered, but then he got something of an idea. “All of you follow me!”
That was sudden… but you all shared confused glances before following him, you and Hitoshi chuckling quietly in amusement at his enthusiasm.
“What’s up Iida? Did you want to show us something else?” Ochako thankfully asked what you were all thinking, and that led to Iida pouring the same orange juice in several glasses.
“Yes. You see, according to the news this year’s flu season is the worst it’s been, not helped by the fact that we are currently in wintertime, and it’s a highly contagious disease that I would not want to risk anyone in this building catching. And orange juice is not only a delectable drink for energy and health, it can boost your immune system and hopefully prevent illness.” He explained, and that made sense to all of you. Of course Iida would be so openly concerned about his classmates health, that was the class rep for you.
“Oh that’s right… so many people in Musutafu have already gotten sick, it’s not an epidemic but I’ve heard that the ones who have gotten sick are pretty bad off.” Izuku spoke up, having heard the news and was pretty concerned himself, the last thing he wanted was to get sick while he was training, and any of his other classmates and friends get sick too. “And we can’t afford to get sick while we’re training… that would seriously put a hamper on our progress if we had to be bedridden…” That worried him the most, catching the flu would be the WORST thing to happen to every hero-in-training here. And he earned a small squeaky cringe of agreement from Ochako. “T-That’s a good idea Iida… I definitely don’t want to sick, or any of you to get sick either… I’ve had colds before and then there’s the drawbacks whenever I overuse my quirk… hee-hee, so I guess what I’m saying is, being sick is just the worst!” She said while smiling. Such a sweet girl you thought… she clearly knew what being sick was like and how awful it was.
“Rara’s got a point dudes. Me and Madison have already taken some precautions as soon as I heard the news…” You quickly agreed with her, and you could very much see the looks of mild annoyance from Hitoshi, Iida and Todoroki once you mentioned Madison.
Todoroki shared the sentiment as he gave a nod of agreement. “We should be more careful about the things we touch then, because the flu spreads mainly through contact.” He informed, as a means to let everyone take caution for the disease that had been going around Japan and infecting a lot of people and heroes for that matter.
“Wear a mask too. It could be airborne since some people are careless enough to cough or sneeze without covering their mouths.” Hitoshi then offered some advice, and you cringed at the thought… sounded like Bakugou…
“Hey… you know you don’t look too awake… you’re not sick are ya ‘Toshi?” You had to ask him, sure he always looked like he didn’t get enough sleep or sunlight, but you had to make sure…
“I always look like this.” He deadpanned in response, and you, Izuku and Ochako tried not to snicker as the six of you grabbed the glasses of orange juice Iida had given you all.
“I will have to advise the rest of our classmates to take more precautions today in class. Mr. Aizawa should understand since health and wellness is a big priority for the students of UA.” He said, as the rest of you all agreed with that, especially since everyone was sharing dorms together.
“Cheers.” You raised your glass to your closest friends, and you were surprised that they all clanked their glasses to you before each of them taking a drink of their juice…
Their infected juice that slowly made their way into their systems and began infiltrating their bodies to quickly corrupt any healthy cell in their bodies…
You? Well… nothing was affecting you… you were one lucky witch.

Death Ever After - Part 1 - A True Hero
Warnings: Abusive families; Accidents; Death; blame game; etc
Pairings: Modern Marvel AU X Reader; Slight Richard X Reader; Bucky X Reader
Summary: Reader is a Childhood friends with the Barnes Children; Richard, Bucky, and Rebecca. A terrible accident occurs forcing the Reader to move in with her biological father. Years pass and destiny decides to play a joke on the reader. Chaos Ensues.
(A/N) This is a Modern Marvel Alternate Universe. In this universe the Barnes parents, George and Winifred are still alive. I brought in Bucky’s comic canon sister Rebecca but added an older brother named Richard. Howard and Maria Stark are also still alive along with Jarvis. Some Characters may seem OOC at time but this is an alternate reality people, shit happens. I hope you all like it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then –
“I never want you to come near her again!” Richard yells out at my stepfather as he cradles me in his arms. “It’s okay (Name), I got you.”
“I… I’m sorry,” I cry out into his chest as I grip tightly to his now torn shirt. How had things turned out this way? One minute I was doing the dishes, the next I was fighting for my life. My Stepfather, Earl, had been drinking heavily that night, like he always did, and like always all it took was one little thing to set him off. I was used to this kind of abuse though. Ever since my mother, Emily, died in a fire while rescuing a young Rebecca Barnes from its massive flames only five years earlier.
Since her death I was forced to stay with my Stepfather. He was set and determined to drain the Barnes family dry of as much money as he could for his pain and suffering. That alone made the Barnes family hate us. All of them except Rebecca and the oldest son Richard. Rebecca blamed herself for my mother’s death even though I knew it was an accident. Rebecca and I were the same age so I knew that when my mother heard that she was in the burning building she didn’t think twice about rescuing her.
Richard, was like the big brother I never had. He was always there when I needed him. When Earl would go into one of his drunken rages Richard always seemed to appear to save me. Like some superhero. I loved Richard. I wasn’t in love with him, but I loved him like he was the only one in this world that cared about me. Because he was.
Richard carried me over to his old single cab Ford pickup and easily slides me across the front seat before he climbs in beside me. I glance back at the house I had grown up in to see a bloody faced Earl standing on the front steps yelling at us to never come back. Richard had hit him hard. Then again, he had basically tackled him off me. Richard doesn’t even give Earl a second glance as he starts the old truck and throwing it in reverse backs out of the driveway throwing gravel everywhere as he shifts into drive and races away down the road. We spend the first few minutes in silence before he lets out a heavy sigh and says, “Are you alright?”
“I’m… fine…” I reply tears falling from my eyes.
“(Name), you don’t have to lie to me. I’m here for you remember.”
“I know, I-” I pause as I look out the passenger side window into the dark night. “Why do you save me?”
“What kind of question is that?” He asks his voice filled with confusion and anger.
“I’m not old enough to leave here, no matter what we do, I’ll still have to go back to him.” I say voicing the truth and I hear him sigh.
“You could always marry me.” He says and my eyes shoot to him.
“That’s not funny Richard, you’re like my brother.”
“It wouldn’t be a romantic marriage, it’d be a way out for you.”
“No, it wouldn’t,” I answer honestly as I think about all the ways Earl would use me if I took Richard up on his offer. His hand reaches across the seat and finding mine gives it a quick squeeze. Offering him a soft smile I slide across the seat and lean into his side as his free arm wraps protectively around my shoulders pulling me in close to his side. He gently places a kiss on my forehead before he turns his attention back to the road. “One day, I’ll get out of this place and be free of Earl completely.”
“I will be here to help me whenever you need it.”
“Okay superman.” I reply closing my eyes and taking a deep breath.
“I wanna show you something,” He says as he turns his blinker on and after a few feet turns right onto a dirt road.
“Where are we going?” I ask sitting up straight next to him.
“When my brother and I were little we stumbled upon this place. It’s special. When the inevitable happens and you end up with Earl again, you can always come here. I’ll find you here and protect you.”
“But won’t Bucky get mad that you’re sharing this secret place with me? He doesn’t exactly like me.”
“He doesn’t have to like you. You’re my family now, I want to share this place with you.”
“But Richard-”
“No buts, just leave Bucky to me.” Richard says as offers me a bright smile. Shaking my head, I turn from him to look out the windshield. It was dark outside, eerily dark. I couldn’t help but feel a deep foreboding lingering in the air. I shake the feeling away and close my eyes. When the pickup comes to a complete stop I open my eyes and looking around cock an eyebrow at the scenery. “Don’t give me that look, this isn’t what I wanted to show you. It’s up there. We have to hike a few hundred feet or so, but trust me, it’s worth it.”
“You better not be lying.” I call out as he climbs out of the driver’s side shutting the door behind him. I blow out a breath of air before opening the passenger side door and climbing out walk up next to him. He quickly takes my hand in his and grips tightly as he leads me through the woods. After a few minutes we emerge into a vast empty prairie field and I feel my heart leap in my chest. It was beautiful. There were lightning bugs flying all around illuminating the prairie like little lanterns on the grass.
“You think this is pretty, just wait until day time. There are so many wildflowers, it’s like a scene from ‘The Wizard of Oz’.” Richard says pulling your attention from the fireflies to him. “You like it?”
“I do,” I reply gripping tightly to his hand.
“Ah I almost forgot.” He says reaching into his front jeans pocket.
“What are you doing?” I ask cocking an eyebrow at him.
“I want to give you something. Along with a promise.”
“Okay?”
“Don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like you think I’m going to ask you to marry me again. I’ve already given up on that idea and thought of another one.”
“Oh?” I ask happy that he had given up on the hopeless joke of marrying me but confused as to what he was about to say.
“Here, this is for you.” He says pulling something out of his pocket and handing it to me. He places the trinket in my hand and then closes it so I can’t see what it is. “I’m giving you this as a promise. I’ve decided to take over my father’s company and I wanted you to be the first one I told.”
“Wasn’t that already decided since you’re the oldest?”
“No, not exactly. I had every intention of giving the company to Bucky and then going off to do what I wanted but I can’t leave you alone. When I become CEO, I’m gonna do everything in my power to separate you from Earl and keep him away from you so you can finally have a normal life. I’ll even help you find your real dad if you want too.”
“Richard, I can’t ask that of you. What about your dreams?”
“You being safe and free is my dream, at least it’s my new dream.” He says making me look down at our joined hands.
“What does this have to do with your promise?”
“I want you to hold on to it. For now, at least. When my promise is fulfilled, I want you to give it back.”
“Okay, what the hell is in my hand?” I ask suddenly becoming very worried. Richard pulls his hand away and I look down to see a little silver key sitting in the middle of my palm. “A key?” I ask curiosity filling my mind. “What does it go to?”
“Good question, too bad I won’t tell you. It’s a secret.”
“Richard, come on.” I plead but he shakes his head. Reaching up he pulls off his silver chain he always wore and then taking the key from me slips it on the chain and then latches the necklace around my neck.
“I want you to keep it safe for me.” He pauses looking down at it lying against my chest. “It unlocks my greatest secret.” I look him deep in his eyes mine filled with worry and confusion at his look but he quickly shakes his head and clearing his throat continues, “Anyway, keep it safe for me okay?”
“Okay,” I say reluctantly as I reach up and run my fingers along the stem of the key.
“Good, now let’s go home. You can stay with me tonight like you usually do.”
“You make it sound like I’m in your bed every night.” I say cocking an eyebrow at him judgingly.
“Aren’t you?” He clarifies and I open my mouth to argue only to shake my head and decide against arguing. “That’s what I thought. Come on, if my mom sees us like this she’ll have a heart attack.” He holds his hand out to me a bright smile filling his face.
“Okay,” I reply taking his hand letting him lead me back to the truck. Climbing inside he walks around to the driver’s side and quickly climbs in. Putting his seat belt on, he pats the center of the seat and I slide across to sit beside him.
“Seatbelt please.” He says and I nod as I slide the little safety belt across my waist and buckle it. “Alright, let’s go home.” He says turning the truck on and turning around quickly heads down the road to his house. I lean my head against his shoulder as Pearl Jams, ‘Last kiss’ fills the cab of the truck. I close my eyes and enjoy the music until I feel the truck jerk sideways before it rolls countless times into the ditch. I feel something warm flow down the side of my face and I look around my vision blurred.
“Rich?” I try to say but my words are just wheezes. I blink my eyes repeatedly as I try to focus on finding Richard. I reach out and find his hand hanging in midair. “Rich I can’t see you, are you okay?”
No reply.
