Hello Lady Penelope! Any book recommendations you can make for auto/biographies of spies/special/secret agents?
Hello Anon! What a fabulous question!
My first recommendation would have to be my own father's official biography, Home In Time For Tea not that I'm biased. I would also recommend anything regarding the Universal Secret Service, or the elite Spectrum organisation, though biographies of any sort are rather sparse when it comes to personnel.
However, if you wish for something more retro, I'd suggest one of the following:
They Fought Alone by Maurice Buckmaster and/or The White Mouse by Nancy Wake. Both are autobiographies, and both agents operated in France during the Second World War. Buckmaster was the head of the French Section of Britain's SOE during World War Two, and Wake was an agent of the same organisation as well as the French Resistance. Wake's story is rather remarkable - did you know she was the Gestapo's Most Wanted? At one point there was a five million Franc price for her capture.
